Has anyone noticed the April 25th update? It's just like the Android N Stock Camera App now, I love it. So much faster with a few changes
Features
• Fast switching - Switch quickly between video and photo mode with a quick swipe
• Easy access to photo modes - Easily create stunning photographic effects and switch between photo modes (such as Lens Blur, Wide Angle, Panorama, and Photo Sphere) from the top-left menu
• Auto-HDR+ - Google Camera automatically detects when HDR+ (High Dynamic Range + Low Light) should be used to capture great photos in low light and backlit scenes on the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P
• Slow motion video - Record slow motion videos in 120fps on the Nexus 5X and up to 240fps on the Nexus 6P
• SmartBurst - Hold down the shutter button on the Nexus 6P to automatically capture a stream of photos and automatically make GIFs
Requirements
• Google Camera works on Nexus phones running Android 6.0 and above
• SmartBurst is only available on the Nexus 6P
• Slow motion video is only available on the Nexus 5X and 6P
• Photo Sphere and Panorama require a gyro sensor
• Photo Sphere, Panorama, and Lens Blur require at least 1 gigabyte of memory

just got my phone, but I'm guessing it came in one of the updates it received after I opened it. I like it a lot so far. Didn't know about the animation. Though I'm not sure how you'd export it (does it save it as a .gif file?)
additionally, what apps are you using for a "gallery". Not too fond of google photos. Currently using QuickPic

Got the camera update from Google
Finally got the update, only differences I can see are the shutter button is now grey with white border, you can take pictures in video mode, and slow mo video option is now in video settings menu, might be a little quicker to open, taking a picture is near instant.

New Gallery, Camera, OTA, Voice and others.
Only one that would not install for me was Contextual services, which I think is a Moto G/X 2013 only app.
Camera and Gallery have new stock. icons!
I installed all fine (except Contextual Services) and everything works. I am not responsible if something happens to ur device....:good:
Moto Voice app is a lower version so not necessary.
Careful with AP's link to moto voice. It's a 6 version number and the current is 7.0.13.1. The current one is lower on the apk mirror page. Strange though, I already had that installed...

Exactly, is a lower version than the actual we have installed, I think thats because all these apps are compatible with Moto x 2013.
Thanks. OP updated

Yup , just saw that now, my apologies.
I installed all of the updates on my VZW 2014 moto X running lollipop. All installed just fine. Two issues appear resolved: the attentive display seems to be working and the camera is much improved. Hopefully, others can confirm this.
I'll test the Camera out today. I use Camera+ though, so can't see myself going back to stock. But its worth a shot, plus I like the new icon.

What kind of improvements did you find in the camera?
The only improvement I've seen in the update for the camera is that the front facing camera doesn't lag as bad in low light. I haven't noticed better picture quality. It's still sub par in low light and decent in good lighting.
when will the be in the play store?
I believe these were meant for soak testers.

Regarding the camera, I perceive there to be a difference in the focus and capture speed. But, I have no empirical evidence.
Yeah I noticed a speed improvement as well.
Sigh I was hoping this was gonna be the big camera update like the one the moto x 2013 got last year

Pretty sure you have to download it.
You can download it in the Galaxy Apps
I can't download it from Galaxy Apps because I got a message that it is not available there. Here is a Link for the Galaxy App.
But you can download it from APKmirror.

If you going to Samsung store, then go to the settings you will see my apps click it. Then you will see all click that then look for the surround app

It is my first Samsung device, so I have no surround app there. And the APK from APKmirror is not the last version. :crying:
That linked worked thanks! I used the one from the apps store and it was the latest version. Wonder why you can't download it from the camera app itself like all the others??:silly:
Also if you search in the Galaxy app store for "surround shot" nothing comes up, but if you use the link to the app store page posted above it works. It's like Samsung doesn't want you to find it and use it....weird
Thanks for the link, this is a neat feature I enjoyed using.

Thank you guys! Interestingly the gallery app doesn't detect photospheres taken with Google Camera as surround shots like it did on Galaxy S6.
I followed the link and get "Product does not exist in this store". Even though the page and install button show.
They must have removed it.
Clearly pushing for the Samsung Gear 360 camera, which I won't buy if I can't try out that sort of thing at lower quality on my phone (S8+ by the way).
Shame.
I will look for an alternative. Don't really want to root my phone just yet though as I have only had it a couple of weeks.

Word - same with my S9. It's insane that Samsung doesn't know how functional this feature is. I'd trade a million AR Selfies for one good photosphere

I fully agree! Why does Samsung get away with calling the AR selfies as a new feature of the S9? Clearly this is merely a software gimmick that has little to do with the new hardware.
If no alternative option becomes available for shooting 360 pics on the S9, I'd like to point out that you can also take that type of pictures using the google streetview app.
just know that you're not alone in this battle

Google pictures is pretty cool. I went to Italy and took around 500 pictures and the app put a gallery together for me showing in maps when I traveled and each location is in its own category. So when we traveled from Florence to Siena it showed that on the map and all Siena photos were together.

Have you guys using the gallery APK, noticed that when you delete photos, they come back after a restart of the phone? On mine they show deleted in gallery, but if I go in es explorer, they are actually still there. And then show again in gallery after a restart.
Would be good to ask for Car and Music too, I can't live without these 2 and I am obliged to root to get them

it's not happening due copyright...aka iPhone infringements.
Apple complained that Samsung/HTC/Sony/etc ... were using Apple's intelectual Property "Gallery" and is banned to use it, or pay to use it.
Samsung paid to keep using it, but it sucks anyways.
there are way better Apps out there that manages medias, there fancy ones, there are simple ones.
I like the Google Photo, simple easy and it auto sync.
Just flash venom custom rom viperu I have all the htc apps still, gallery, car, people widget, htc music...all of em!!!!

New update to Essential Services on playstore now, 2nd October.
Anybody know what the Services are for?
Edit: Says Bug and performance fixes. Maybe firmware related?
I just got my essential phone off of swappa and it's running build "NMI75B test-keys". For some reason I am unable to update any system apps via the play store while on this build. Camera, Essential Resources, and Essential Services are all showing updates available, but every time I've tried to download them I get error code 505. I think there is something with this test build firmware that is preventing me from updating system apps via the play store. Every other app (150+) that I have installed has worked flawlessly.

Build NMI75B is not an official build from Essential. The device in reference from the XDA link is using incremental beta SW in test - 64C is the official release build at this time but we will be releasing another public SW update within the next few weeks. Stay tuned.

Hi all,
I'm just curious what new features Oreo brings to our devices.
Here is what I have noticed so far:
- camera updated with stickers
- camera options with separated timer for both cameras
- Bixby Vision
- in recent applications preview you can select list view
- paired applications in dual screen view (same as in Note8)
- edge app shortcut can be edited by holding it longer
- live message build in
- additional toolbar in Samsung keyboard
- unlocking with fingerprint sensor is MUCH faster and precise
- notification is showing when phone was unlocked successfully or not with fingerprint scanner
- while using Google Maps Navigation and switching to other app, small window staying at the top showing the route
- much more options to edit photo in the gallery
What did you spoted?
Wow, nice. Still waiting for the update
there is an improvement in battery performance too, but what was lacking was just adding portraiture to the camera ;/

No, only Iris scanner.
To have FaceUnlock there needs to be hardware support which Note FE doesn't have.

Read again. The S8/S8+ didn't receive Project Treble. Also in your link it is in the category "Devices updated to Oreo without Treble". So no, only S9/S9+ have Treble (and all other Samsung devices that will have Android 8 Oreo from the beginning!).
Just got the Oreo update in Malaysia. Try manually searching for software update if you have not seen the notification.

I am pretty certain Samsung won't give Project Treble to old devices. Only those released with Android 8 because it is mandatory by Google. So, don't count on Treble for S8/S8+/Note8.
