So, I was searching how to root my phone, and I founds some articles, but they aren't the build version of my phone. I can't install the newer firmware, because It's not available in my carrier's version.
My phone's build number is: LRX22G.A500FUXXU1BOL1
and my carrier is Hungary Vodafone.
I am using Android 5.0.2, the latest I can get.
Can someone tell me a method to root my phone, keeping my current firmware? Any help is appreciated!

Is it only a recovery? I don't get it. If I install it, will I have root access, or how can I continue from there?

You flash the latest supersu with twrp and you will have root. It even explains it in the thread.
You should be making a full backup with TWRP before modifying your device anyway.

i did not even check just side loaded it right after the update after reflashing twrp
OK. I updated, root was retained. No need to side load it back. I didn't remove xposed first, I DID however turn off the modules. Everything is fine, turned mods back on and rebooted, still fine.

Hi
SM-G900F
Sorry but im still a bit of a noob with phones so bare with me.
I use to be with EE network but have now had my phone unlocked and using on another network. I have also rooted my S5 so can not update via settings and software update as get error "the OS on your system has been modified"
I know i can put a custom rom on but just out of interest, can i stick on any stock network rom onto my S5 as i see that Vodafone are the first to have released marshmallow update for there sold S5.
Have hooked my phone up to laptop and ran Samsung kies 3 and it says i have the latest update even though im still on lollypop.
Do i have to unroot my phone before i can get marshmallow update?
Cheers

Nice job, I get my TWRP from here
https://dl.twrp.me/klte/
.tar version and flash with ODIN
3.0.0.0 seems to be the last stable version atm, not sure if the newer ones are bug free yet
That root you used might cause problems, the 2.71 beta systemless is the one for MM ROMs atm, the others either don't work fully or overheat the phone with constant high CPU usage
If you have problems, flash this one from TWRP

You should only apply updates with the same Cxxx as yours.I thought that you have C432 from the other guy's post so I'm sorry.
And I've found B210 with C469 so you can update to this first with extracting the recovery from it with Huawei Update Extractor and flashing via fastboot and then updating via dload but i don't know if there's EMUI 4.0 for C469.

Hi,
What happens if you update with the wrong Cxxx?
I just got a used p8 that's got GRA-L09C02B191 on it. I'd like to update it to Android6 before starting to screw around with custom ROMs. I've got FirmwareFinder running, and it's already found 200+ options, none of which appears to be C02, despite that being my range setting. Is my model unupdateable?
TIA!

Thanks for the lightning fast reply!
That's not so bad, I don't care about themes, don't use Android Pay, and doing the updates manually isn't a huge pain. Is there anything else that I lose? Presumably I'll be able to roll back to gra-l09c02b191 to restore full functionality?
So can I then just go directly for the latest firmware, which I guess is B370?
Thanks!

You can root any ROM with TWRP & Magisk. You just need an unlocked boot loader to get started with.
If you don't want to or can't unlock your boot loader go here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...oot-method-t3561529/post71147687#post71147687

You need to unmodified all things which you have installed, such as root, module's,etc. To flash the ota if there any modifications, then there are changes of brick. So suggest you to flash the firmware. And if you want data then use LMSA and make a backup and restore after upgrading it.
I think I am just going to do a custom rom instead.
