Stuck in logoscreen - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I'm new here and i'm dutch, but i need help.
I've downloaded Android 6.0 from somewhere here (i think). I've put the UPDATE.APP in a empty dload map inside my sd-cart root. After the install my phone got stuck. I've tried a few things. They didn't work. It's possible i've made a few mistakes.
Anyway, I need my phone working again. Can you help me? I just want my phone working again. I don't have to worry about my files and apps, because i've made back-ups.
EDIT: I've resetted my phone using the buttons and i've tried to install original software from the huawei website many times. Every time my phone says: Software install failed! Get help from: emui help page...

Do you ever used adb?
---------- Post added at 07:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:28 PM ----------
If yes, you need to extract system.img, cust.img, boot.img and recovery.img from your update.app, you can use Huawei firmware extractor. Then put your extracted files in adb directory, boot your phone in fastboot mode(volume down + power buttons) and flash them with theese commands:
fastboot flash boot "your boot image". img,
fastboot flash recovery " your recovery image".img,
fastboot flash cust "your cust image". img,
fastboot flash system " your system image".img.
(Sorry for errors but i'm italian so my english isn't very well xD)

I never use adb. I've searched for it on google but I don't think i can get that working. I have a macbook and most of the programs work with windows.

Hmm, you can try to install an OS like linux with VirtualBox. Then you should install adb on that VirtualMachine. You also have to install HiSuite, because by installing it you get the phone drivers automatically.

Huawei P8lite bootloop after update

hy guys,
i got an ALE-L21
after an update it stucks in the boot animation first comes the huawei logo and than the "android" banner - and that is going to stay .
i already tried to factory reset and flash the available stockroms on it
but it always says "software install failed"
it is also rooted what i guess caused the problem in the first place
do you guys have any ideas what else i can try
-can enter fastbootmode
-no custom recovery
Problem Solved :
- download a rom and extract it with Huawei Update Extractor
- enter fastboot mode and flash manually boot.img, recovery.img, system.img and cust.img on your p8 lite
---- afterwards your p8lite should boot normally and if you want you can now reinstall the whole rom normally
---- download a rom
------ extract it
--------- put the 'dload' folder in the root dictionary of your (empty)sd-card
-------------shut it down
----------------press volume up and down - and than the power button til' the update starts

Hi Reyengine,
My huawei P8 lite ALE-L21 stuck at boot loop, My phone was rooted, my brother who was not aware of care about rooted phones update and hit the recent update issued by huawei. after update it is not booting anymore.
I tried the following,
Installing stock Rom through SD card but error: first attempt stuck at 90% and after force restart brought it to update over WiFi on startup. Then failed again and after that just gets stuck on logo.
Now I can not update through SD card it gives error: "software install failed" a no update file message blink before error.
Phone is not recognized in adb interface anymore.
Can you guide me in details, I am new to xda and not so good in fixing phones. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

when in bootloop hold the powerbutton til it shut off (and now i think it will reboot automatically ) --- so as soon as it vibrates and the reboot beginns hold volume down and power
if it didnt work try this
boot into (e)recovery and try to shut it off and than try to boot into fastboot

Let me know one thing...What screen it will show in "Fastboot"...? Blank or ......?
Thanks for staying with me...
p8 lite ale-l21
can anyone please guide me how to flash files via fastboot
Problem Solved
I was misunderstanding the Fastboot Screen of it at first but found some more important checks; thought let others know...First thank you for putting me on to right track.
You were right, to get into fastboot phone to be connected to PC with USB cable, I just changed the port to e-SATA and it got into "fastboot"... Just need to change the USB port or PC to get rid of problem of getting into fastboot.
1: I did flash by adb fastboot "Boot.img, Recovery.img, Cust.img" but System.img was giving every time error could not be done by adb fastboot. (may be size reason..!!) and did below.
2: Copied Rom "Update.app" in folder "dload" in SD card, Restarted the phone and by pressing Volume+&- on boot updated the system software...(It got error at 90% as it happened with me earlier too and saw people complaining in other forums as well.) Solution is simple..(Phone to be disconnected from PC during update through SD card..otherwise it get stuck at 90%..) I checked by force shutdown and pulling SD out and kept USB connected, it again start installation on restart but stuck again at 90%...
Updated to latest update with no problems...
Anyway, Thanks a lot for your tips which made my day...kudos..

-first you need platform tools from the android sdk ( a folder with a few files in it)
-start cmd and navigate to that folder
-connect phone to pc and boot into fast boot
-typ in cmd 'fastboot devices' now there should come something like "0102034012011 fastboot " --- which means you phone got recognized
-download a rom and extract it with Huawei Update Extractor
-put the files boot.img, recovery.img, system.img and cust.img into the platformtools folder
-and now typ ''fastboot flash boot boot.img'' press enter and wait til its done and than the next 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'' and so on...
Cannot find on fastboot
Did same adb devices showing no yield, did reinstall drivers, remove install clean still not showing.
Able to get into fastboot/recovery , firmware recovery
- i tried copying P8 Lite B044 EMUI 3.1 firmware to SD but running recovery it fails at 0% "Software install failed!" on firmware recovery. FML assist please!
update-
Fastboot working tried flash recovery.img & boot.img. still going back to old recovery and not one on SD. Doing recovery gets stuck on 90% as it did with OTA update.

Hi StrawShack, I have the same problem, I can't see the device in adb. I think I've disabled the USB debugging mode and now I don't know how to enable with the phone still bootloop.
Can't flash anything, tried to update via SD but doesn't work.
How did you get fastboot working?
---
update: Done!
connect to the PC via USB and enter in eRecovery mode (hold power button and volume up) then shutdown
disconnect USB cable, then hold volume down and plug again the USB.
at this point I still can't see the device in adb, but if you flash with fastboot it will work!

Flashed TWRP as boot.img / Now it only goes to recovery HELP ME!!!

Hi people...
Everything was going so smoothly... bootloader unlock... root... some nice root apps... free paid games... and my p8 lite was just feeling so good... until... I flashed twrp with flashify under the name of boot.img... Am I stupid or what?! Now I can only get 2 scenarios... when i turn on the phone it goes directly to twrp. In twrp i get the option to go the bootloader screen... If I choose system it goes back to twrp... I can't get it to start. I downloaded the official tar.gz from emui site but I dont know how can I install it. PLEASE HELP... What should I do in this case?! I miss my baby...
Thanks in advance

How do I do that?! If I wanted to wipe my phone completely and re-install the OS would be better to do it using twrp or stock recovery?
Thank you very much
Sorry, i misunderstood. If you flashed twrp as boot.img, reflash stock boot in fastboot mode.
flash stock boot.img in fastboot mode
and then flash twrp as recovery
will be like this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
fastboot reboot
use the boot.img from stock rom and twrp image you downloaded
Oh no!
Now I made some serious **** to my baby... guess now i'll have to send it to huawei to fix it. I made a full wipe like if it was format c: in computers... everything is gone (i didnt had any personal data) it doesnt have OS even. But when I still had twrp i tried to flash boot.img and recovery.img and now when i start it goes directly to bootloader screen but saying "please update system again" and where it used to say phone unlocked it now says (in red letters):
Error!
Func NO: 10 (boot image)
Error NO: 2 (load failed!)
I was able to get to eRecovery with usb connected but when i choose to download e install the new version it gives me the message "wifi starting failed".
It also does not get any instuction with fastboot. but hi suite starts when I connect it. Strange?!
What do you think? Should I send it to huawei? Or is it possible for me to make it work again?
Also tried UPDATE.APP function and all give me fail message.
I'm going crazy!!!! But I love to mess around with android... To me this is the android essence. Fortunately I have a lumia for when my baby doesnt work.loooool
Thank you all
I don't understand why you don't use fastboot. Everybody told you to use it. In our phone situation, without custom kernel or rom, twrp is for experimentation and you cannot mix things.

Well, you warned me... but sometimes i do these kind of *****... So, in this situation you think it's better to send it or is there way to fix this.
By the way, when I enter huawei eRecovery and I get the option to download the firmware through wifi and it says wifi starting failed, is there any way to make this work? And to fastboot do we need to open cmd as administrator to make it work? Because if Hi suite detects the phone I should also be able to fastboot it right?
Thanks for your patience
Just use fastboot aand flash everything

Boot

Hi everyone!!
First of all, thanks to everybody who helped me with this situation.
I now am using my baby again as if it was new. I wiped him completely as i stated before and it was as easy as finding the right firmware (136a) and using the vol down + vol up + power button technique. I put the UPDATE.APP file inside a folder named dload in sdcard using other phone (with my p8 was impossible). After that rebooted the device, pressed those 3 buttons and the instalation started successfully.
I just cant explain how happy i was. I stayed 3 days without it.
After that I have been messing with fastboot so thanks to everyone who made me realize that i didnt need to do all of this, but well, A full wipe is always welcome.
Is there any custom kernel on the way for overclock my baby?
Please explain to me how do I put SOLVED in this thread as my problem is already solved...
Thanks

Yeah finally my phone is working now thanks to you I searched many treads and forums but i cant find a solution. But finally i got an easy solution Thank you again bro.. Good Luck !!!:good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
Just download your firmware version, use huawei extractor to extract boot.img,cust.img,recovery.img and system.img
After that, download mininal adb fastboot copy you files into fastboot folder , enter fastboot mode on your phone and from fastboot folder, open cmd and type these commands:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
After this your phone will boot normally. Once you've done this, copy update.app to your sdcard or internal and install it by local update. Once you've done all this, your phone is fine.
May I know how do you wipe your internal storage? and what if after wiping, im unable to get into recovery mode? does it mean phone is not usable anymore?
SOLUTION
Hello. I'm the bigest mess on androids but i know that flashing stock recovery can remove any TWRP/CWR. If its too powerfull flash stock boot and run fastboot -w.(fastboot -w erases all PERSONAL data)

Hi guys massive android noobie here!
I really hope you guys can help me cause I am desperate!
This is what happened: I tried to manually update my phone B200 to B313. I had no luck with the update.zip so I tried the update.app (superstupid). As you guys might know, this resulted in a bootloop.
I downloaded Huawei firmware extractor and adb. I have two problems on top of a not working phone:
1: when i try to extract my firmware i just get a system.img, no boot.img or the other one you need
2: i managed to unlock my bootloader, but whenever i use adb devices it stays empty, fastboot reboot works though... weird
How do I get my lovely device working again?
Kind regards,
Jurgen
Flash B200 again with 3 button method, should work
Extract zip files and copy update.app on SD card, in dload folder

I tried to do something similar, although I screwed it up even further. Prior to attempting this entire process, I was using GRA-L09 build B171. After attempting to install B317 from B171, I got stuck in a bootloop between the Huawei logo and TWRP. I realized that my mistake was probably because I had TWRP instead of the stock ROM. Therefore, I downloaded the B170 full firmware and extracted the B170 files. I tried to use fastboot to flash boot.img system.img and recovery.img according to bihsik's guide, but fastboot could never recognize my device. So I decided to be "smart" and transfer Boot.img and recovery.img from the B170 firmware to my dload folder on my external sd card on the phone and install them directly from TWRP.
This screwed everything up, and now I'm stuck in Rescue Mode with "Error! Func NO : 11 (recovery image) Error NO : 2 (load failed!)"
I've searched google and XDA forums and have tried the methods here and here but without any luck.

Just be Care full in choosing the Firmware , if your firmware doesn't match , then the 3 Button method will stop at 5%.

Huawei P8 Lite (ALE-L21) Unsuccesfully rooted, unbricked and now into a boot loop

Hi,
I'm all new to rooting and I got a major issue.
Here's the story.
Wanting that substratum themes, I looked up for rooting my devices
I followed this guide to unlock the bootloader, and all was fine.
Next, I followed this one for rooting, but at the "installing nexus drivers" step, my PC wasn't showing off any driver setup or something related to a driver.
I pressed Enter, despite the fact that I didn't know if I had nexus drivers properly installed, and my phone didn't want to boot up. Stuck on the boot animation, for more than 20 hours.
Next day, I came back and found this mega thread about unbricking. I followed it, and now I'm in a boot loop: my phone reboot 1-2 secs after showing the home screen, but I can still enter in fast boot mode. My phone is still unlocked and when I enter Huawei's eRecovery (by long-pressing up volume button) to try to "Download new version and recovery" it connects to my Wi-Fi, then fails.
Thanks for your patience,

Do I understand correctly? Do you wont root your phone ?
1 st. With method which presented, you can only root your device if you have Android 5 or lower, if you have android 6 Marshalow - you must use " Systemless ROOT"
2nd. You must upload new ROM on your device ( i have special tool for do this "srktoolHuawei" - this is a special tool for flashing every new rom on a huawei device )
3.rd." HuaweiUpdateExtractor" - this is a tool for extract new ROM ( roms for huawei, you can find in huawei webside ) - download rom for your device, extract by this tool, copy and paste inside folder of "srktoolHuawei"
Next...
Plug you device to PC by usb, go to recovery mode and if you have unblocked bootloader, should be writen:" Phone is unlocked" - > Open "srktoolHuawei", go to Command Prop and then:
- IMPORTANT !!! - you must upload files: SYSTEM, RECOVERY, CUST, BOOT - you can do this using that commands:
1. fastboot flash system system.img
2.fastboot flash boot boot.img
3.fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4.fastboot flash cust cust.img
Reboot and system should starts correctly...

If you wont to root your device with SYSTEMLESSROOT method, you should do like that:
1. If you upload recovery by "srktoolHuawei" - > download TWRP recovery and upload into your device ( copy and paste TWRP img. file into this tool folder insted of traditional android recovery file, next change name from TWRP, to just recovery.img and upload using command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img )
2. Now - if you press volume + - and power together, you should have TWRP Recovery insted of Huawei Recovery, thats good...
3. Next...BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3 - upload this version of supersu into your SD card...
4. Next - go to TWRP mod, next to advanced, next to Terminal Command and write command like this:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
Confirm this command and back to install ( this command means that you will install SuperSU and it will make systemless root for you )
When if you have install, then select supersu which you downloaded before and now simply flash it by TWRP, next reboot and you should installed supersu and rooted device...
I successfully rooted, thanks ! but now i installed a substratum theme (pixel ui), uninstalled some huawei apps and rebooted to apply effects, and i'm stuck again in a bootloop ! tried wipe cache with TWRP, but didn't work :/

Please tell me you made a back up in TWRP if you did just use the RESTORE option in TWRP if not you will have to go through the above again to get back to stock but missing out flashing the recovery partition as yours is working.
When your phone boots make a back up in TWRP before trying out anything so its easy to recover

Hello @BaronDeLucifer,
what do you mean with this? Do I need the srktool for rooting my P8 Lite?
With best regards

"soft-brick" on Essential Phone PH-1

A while ago, I tried to root my Essential Phone using magisk. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed twrp, but when I tried to install the magisk zip file, it failed, and I was stuck in a bootloop.
Easy problem to solve right? I wiped everything from my phone (including the ROM), downloaded a stock ROM (.ZIP file, and I think that’s what ****ed everything up) and when I tried to install it, it failed once again. Therefore, I downloaded another stock ROM file (this time as a .img file) and tried to installed it.
But what I ended up doing, was installing some other .img file as the boot image (on twrp), and after that, my phone kept restarting endlessly. I couldn’t access the recovery mode (if I tried to press the vol down + start buttons, or just the start button, the process would repeat, so I leaved my phone there until it run out of battery, now its off).
I was despaired and tried to search every inch of the internet for a solution, and obviously, I could not find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for your attention.
(Im not sure if this is really a soft brick, I named this thread wit my basic knowlage, sorry if Im wrong)
Use
fastboot unlock_critical
Then flash your full stock formware to both slots
You can get in the bootloader right?

From my understanding ... After you get the bootloader unlocked and the critical partition as the poster above stated. Pretty sure, Magisk, when booted into the android OS should be installed.. After that you can patch the boot image(to include root) without root! And then, fastboot flash boot (path/to/boot.img).
For not being able to boot into TWRP .... Did you use the command fastboot boot twrp.img? Or fastboot flash recovery twrp.img ?
If you used the boot command - TWRP will not stick.
If you used the flash command and cannot access TWRP, IDK, you may be on the wrong partition. I personally had a bit of difficulty with there being two partitions. Just made it a bit confusing...
As the above poster asked, .... Are you able to get to the bootloader? If so, I don't think all is lost... I'm thinking you'll just have to do some fastboot commands again, like, fastboot boot TWRP.img . Then you should be able to just press the volume a time or two to boot to recovery. As @BakedTator asked

This is what I got when I tried to use this command
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot unlock_critical
fastboot: usage: unknown command unlock_critical
yesterday I couldn't find a way to access the bootloader, but for some reason when I gave another shot today it worked
going to try flash twrp once again

I managed to flash twrp by some miracle, I remember my device entering a bootloop once I tried to access the bootloader menu, but now its all good. I waited for the Essential run out of battery, then I plugged-in my pc the fastboot commands were working once again
going to try install a boot image now

oh my god Im such a dumbass, sorry
I had this problem tonight also. In my case I suspect it had to do with the install of magisk in which I checked both boxes and patched the bootloader. on reboot I was stuck on boot. Just wanted to add my solution. I got the pie back to stock zip here https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/development/stock-7-1-1-nmj20d-t3701681 then I put it into the adb folder and ran the flashall.bat script. I tried the no wipe one and it saved my information. very happy I didnt have to resetup my phone in the end.
