I always seem to accidentally touch the edge of the screen with my middle or ring finger as I hold my phone. It's annoying to say the least as I'll be writing something in Whatsapp for instance, just to see all the words being deleted as my finger touches the edge of the screen.
I really love this phone but it's starting to p*ss me off. Is it only me with this problem?

It was the same for me until I got it in a case. Even minimal cases, like the Spigen Neo-hybrid or Ultra-hybrid give a nice little ledge to hold.
I also moved the edge panel slider to the top and made it smaller, which helped even before I got my cases.

I've never used cases on any of my phones so that's not an option for me unfortunately.

The latest updates (like APD1) improved the accidental gestures rejection, as far as I read. However, they are very detrimental to battery life.

Ah. Well, I'm sure you've already heard how much this model needs one enough by now, so I'll just say I hope you have great insurance and moving the edge tab out of the way helps.
Good luck!

yeah i have had mine almost a week now i noticed it after i removed that plastic screen thing that was on the back of the screen.
it seems kinda cheap feeling when i push down on the screen and i hear it sweak and move every time. should i take it back?
Mine started sqeaking and creaking today. NOOOOO!
I only had it for 2 days. I kept the plastic on the back of the screen and it still does this by the way. Its too awesome of a phone for this litte stuff to bother me though. I came from a Touch Dual that had a solid keyboard for a little over a year before it became wobbly and squeky before it final died. So I imagine its better sooner than latter cause you just adapt the longer you use it.
My 2 Cents,
Jcostanza4
I had the same problem the first day I got mine. I'm still trying to figure out a way to keep it from squeaking/creaking. Honestly it's just annoying right now. My TYTN II was a brick compared to this phone as far as size and weight. If I figure anything out I'll post it up.
The only idea I've had so far is to take one of my old Palm screen shields and use it on the back of the screen. However since I ordered a Zagg full body protector I think I actually might get that piece with the set. Like I said I'll post up when I got more info.
try adding a little strip of adhesive felt to the upper part of the chin (where it meets the screen when closed). Works for me. Actually, if you want to test this out or cant find the felt, take three post it notes(together for the right thickness), cut them down, black out with a magic marker, and you'll get the same effect. Barely noticable.
yes mines loose too you feel it when you only hold the bottom and tap the screen u here the screen and the body click.

Maybe you're pressing too hard? Mine creaks if I really press down hard.
On my wing, I had to press down hard, it's built for a stylus.
But this device is built for your fingers, and should respond with a very light touch. Try using it with barely touching it, if it doesn't respond try pressing a tiny bit harder, you should not have to push down hard enough to make the screen creak -- unless the screen is badly attached, in which case I would take it back to the store.
this is what happens when HTC wants a thin, light phone with a hardware qwerty
it doesnt bother me much though
It's like this phone was made for lefties. These buttons are poorly placed and really sensitive, and I keep activating them, especially when i pick the phone up. I had a Speigen tough armor case on my note 4 which flattened out the buttons, and made them less sensitive to press (you'd have to really press them to activate them, on the 6p they activate the moment you touch them).
Does anyone know of a similar case like the one I mentioned for the 6P? this is my only issue, otherwise i love the phone, but it's a very big issue, and I'm considering a Note5, or holding out for the Note 6 if I cant resolve it.
Thanks guys!

You can use any case and simply make sure to shorten the button parts on the inside of the case. This will decrease the sensitivity.
I have little sensitivity with my Speck CandyShell case. The buttons feel good...

I have the same problem with this phone.
The Adopted case sold through google store makes it a lot worse. Would post a link but being I am a new user I cannot.

I kept pressing the volume and power button too, but slowly learned to hold the phone differently.
Speck CandyShell case helped me a lot when replacing my Adopted case....

I have a Chinese made case by Nillkin. It causes the buttons to be recessed and that decreases the sensitivity for me.

Lol same. I actually used to hold my phone in my left hand because of my First HTC. Then after using Samsung I switched. Only to switch back with the 6P.

Just got the first case, it's the RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper , and it completely solves this issue. You have to really press the buttons to activate them, otherwise it is nearly impossible to accidentally do so. I'm completely satisfied, I doubt I'll find a case which better resolves this issue, although I have a few more on the way , so I'll report back on them when they arrive.
The only minor downside to this case, is it has no back, which I normally wouldn't mind at all, except that the 6p has a very slippery back, , and my fingers slide a bit on it if I'm not holding the edges really well. Mostly this is a non issue since I almost always only hold the edges, but i do need to be a bit more careful when using the phone one handed.
I'm really impressed, and I'm never impressed.
JG
Just got two more cases, the Google Nexus 6p case, and the Adopted protected case. They are both very similar, and great cases. Both also resolve the button sensitivity issue. Great fit on both, they both are slightly tacky on the sides as well. The only real difference is the Google case has some kind of weird industrial carpet type of material on the back, and the Adopted case is plain rubber/plastic. I like the Google one slightly better. I'm also waiting on a back protector for the Rhino bumper, which is also a great option.

I don't know if it is normal. You have to push really hard to get the click sound.
hard you mean like 500-600g
it almost sounds like, 'my car gets dents in the bodywork if I push on it really hard' - why do you need to push on it so hard? Is this a review model you were sent to test how tough the device is? I could understand a problem if it's under normal use, but 'You have to push really hard to get the click sound.' doesn't sound like normal use?
I have similar problem with my Edge+ but only on the top right corner. When pushing on this area of display, a bit hard but nothing extreme/ not like trying to bend it, I hear something like a glue unsticking.....
Figured this out when trying to apply the screen protector.
What can it be?
I heard some stories of motherboard unsticking from the screen due to moments of phone getting hot, could be this?
ok, and if I go the service what shall I tell? It is very hard to describe the exact simptom and service people are often tempted to treat such situations superficially....
If it is bothering you, take it to service center and ask for replacement if possible.. 3 months of my use of S6 edge+, I don't have any serious trouble on it but sometimes the device is getting hot because of heave usage. I just need to bring it to deep sleep for 15 min and everything are going to back to normal.
I made a thread about this months ago but noone really took notice.
Basically it means your phone screen is starting to collapse cos you press too hard on it when tapping.
I press hard naturally too like elephamt thumbs and it happened on my 2 tablets which dont have gorilla glass. The screen sinks slightly.
On my s3 and s4 it does not happen because they have gorilla glass and a hard flat substrate underneath. The s6 edge plus has a curved screen thereby a plastic substrate underneath which flexes if pressed too hard.
My 2 tablets the components behind it started to collapse making the back potrude slightly. I have no idea what will happen with the s6 edge plus maybe the screen will.collapse.or.push the components further back like my tablet but you have to start learning to press slightly.
Curved screen is not ideal for heavy pressers. I'll get a flat screen next time like note 7 or something
I picked up my phone yesterday and man, this thing is sweet. From the display to the speed, I'm really impressed. One thing I noticed today was the home button moves a bit. Can you guys do a quick test for me? Place your finger on your home button. Get a nice feel of it. Now move your finger up and down vertically while holding onto the button. Is there a tiny bit of give there? Almost like a slight movement. For me it's noticeable on the left and middle part of the button.
Just want to make sure I don't have a faulty button. I noticed right out the box it's fairly loud when pressing down - aren't sure if this is normal or not.
Thanks!

Mine wiggles a little bit but still feels very stiff, don't think it's going anywhere
Mine is solid, doesn't move at all.
I've read a few times with people having issues like yours. I'd be tempted to take it back for a new one. It shouldn't move AT ALL.
Mine moves up and down.
Always had a small bit of wiggle with samsung home buttons.
The s7 edge however os the tightest ive had.

Mine is solid here. I can see how it csn get annoying. My iphone 6 plus was developing a wiggle right before i ditched it.
But my current shell/case wiggles quite a bit. Annoying at first buy now used to it.
I'm more concern on the power button. From what I experienced my my s5, the power button wiggles.
No. Unfortunately moving the home button is currently not an option. You can only keep it in the bottom bezel in the middle. Maybe that's a future feature though.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
Yeah me too ! It does move a bit on the left ! But everything seems to work but it's kinda of annoying. I went to the store and the guy told me it was normal for the fingerprint thing because it's really sensitive. I don't know what to think of that.
Some variation in tolerances is to be expected. Nothing made by man is going to be exactly the same in every single piece of 10 or 20 million pieces made. Some buttons will be a tiny bit bigger, some a tiny bit smaller. Some phones will have buttons on the large end of spec and holes on the small end of spec, and no movement at all. Some will have buttons on the small end of spec, and holes on the large end, and noticeable movement. Most will be somewhere in between.
A little bit of movement won't hurt anything.
The strange issue is when I'm not holding the phone (in it's cradle or sitting on my desk), the touch screen is almost dead. It takes 5-6 touches or a long press to register the touch. The strange part is when I hold the phone in my hand the sensitivity is normal (not all that sensitive but at least you can use it).
I do notice when it's out of my hands that if I touch the screen and hold anywhere with one finger and use another, It responds like normal. This makes it unbearable in the car.
I've tried the the pointer speed increase and the TSP firmware update also. But no luck.
I'm running the latest G935U rom PI3.
I've searched a lot and can't find anyone else with this same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just tried it on my S7 Edge and touch works well.
There's a sensor called "grip sensor/detector" in our devices. It knows when You hold Your phone and when You don't. Maybe some app on Your phone is using it and somehow messes up Your screen?
If it gets too annoying then take it back to Samsung and show them the issue. They should fix it.

Thanks for your response. That makes sense. I can't seem to find anyway to turn it off or at least modify the settings.
The only apps are the ones that come with the "U" firmware.
This might sound stupid, and if it doesn't apply to you I apologise.
But are you using a screen protector? Maybe this is inhibiting the sensitivity?
Just an idea

I have the exact opposite problem. My screen is so sensitive that every time I pick up my phone an app on the edge of the screen opens. While holding the phone, if my palm just barely touch the screen, apps will open. I've had this phone since the first day it was released and had planned to buy a Note 7 because of my overly sensitive screen. I really like this phone, best I have ever owned but I'm really getting tired of this screen issue.

I read quite a few posts about that same problem. I started this thread because I hadn't seen anyone with the same issues that I'm having.
Have you tried "Pointer Speed Decrease" or the TSP firmware update. Also, have you tried one of those glass screen protectors?
Just a thought.

I think I remember trying that TSP thing a few months ago. I believe it doesn't work with the Verizon S7's. Changing pointer speed doesn't help. I do have a plastic film screen protector. It's hard to find a reliable glass protector which I prefer. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
