GOT TROUBLE WHILE INSTALLING A RECOVERY? GET A WORKING TWRP RECOVERY AFTER 2 MINUTES ON YOUR XPERIA Z2 D6503/D6502:
open any root explorer app like ES FILE MANAGER
Delete /system/etc/mm_twrp_recovery folder
Go to /system/bin/ folder
Look for the "chargemon.stock" file - If it's present, delete this one: chargemon - and now, rename the chargemon.stock to chargemon
Look for the "taimport.stock" file - If it's present, delete this one: taimport - and now, rename the taimport.stock to taimport
Reboot
download "recovery fix.zip" from mega.nz
extract the file and run "adbrecoveryfix.exe" the .exe file will install some needed files (normally into C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot\ )
copy the files from the folder "RECOVERY FILES" into the "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" Folder
connect your xperia with the pc
open the "m a a d" folder and then SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK to open a command window
now type:
adb shell
su root
mount -o remount,rw /system
exit
exit
install.bat
Click to collapse
don´t forget to press enter after "adb shell", "su root" and so on!
now your recovery will install again without any errors!

Another simple Method: thanks @meer_mortal
Deleted folders and rename chargemon etc
Plugged phone into computer with dev settings, debugging etc
Open root explorer to make / -RW
Run install.bat with CMD
Boom! MM with TWRP
To get in into recovery reboot press down after green LED
Click to collapse
BUGS: none
IMPROVABLE: boot into recovery only works manually (when it vibrates and a green LED shows up press VOL DOWN till the LED is purple) "QUICK BOOT" and similiar Applications cannot boot into the recovery!

take everything that is in exploits.zip and move it to your android sdk directory specifically the location of adb.exe (will either be in platform-tools or tools) as for the two RUUs, they can be anywhere but you will have to move them at one point to your SD card. That is about it

This is a custom version of clockworkmod 6.0.1.4 (latest version available). See the 2nd post for information on what is in the extras menu.
To install:
- download these 2 files -----> uImage.CWM6 & touchpad_recovery_extras.zip
- boot into your current clockworkmod and mount /boot and /sdcard
- plug into your computer and run these commands
Code:
cd {location of folder where 2 files you just downloaded are}
adb push uImage.CWM6 /boot/uImage.CWM6
adb push touchpad_recovery_extras.zip /sdcard/touchpad_recovery_extras.zip
- go to install zip and choose the touchpad_recovery_extras.zip from your sdcard
- reboot and you will see an option in moboot for CWM6
Notes: The icons on the bottom of the recovery are placeholders for when i get the touchscreen working. I'm working on making this a touch recovery like the ones in my signature.

Whats in the extras menu?
- enable/disable one confirm (this makes it so you only have to scroll through one confirm selection when installing something instead of having to go through 10 of them to click yes)
- hide/show backup & restore progress (this makes it so the progress bar when you backup/restore doesnt show up and makes backups/restores a bit faster since it doesnt have to show you the progress and files its backing up)
- aroma file manager (file explorer - to configure properly: when opened the first time select "no" to use alternative touch. then press the back key or enter key to get past the dot part. that works best for me)
create custom zip (this will create a custom rom from the currently installed files you have on your phone. it takes your /system partition and /boot files and makes them into a zip file ready to be flashed. the end product will be in /sdcard/clockworkmod/zips/{DATE}. with date being a timestamp of the time it was created. be sure to run a fix_permissions after installing the zip too just in case. DO NOT DELETE THE FOLDER /sdcard/clockworkmod/zips/files
choose custom openrecoveryscript (read THIS)
- recovery info (shows the version of recovery and the build date)

Yeah I should have explained that more. You can only have space for 2 recoveries. You can adb pull the original clockworkmod off and save it and push the cwm6

If you're not fond of ADB like me,
Open terminal emulator
Grant it super user by typing
su
then hitting enter and select 'allow' when the toast pops up
You should now see the '#' symbol
Now type,
mount -o remount,rw /boot
Then hit enter
Now go to your favorite file manager that goes to the root dir. (I prefer ES File Explorer)
Now copy uimage.CWM6 to /boot
Reboot.

You have to edit android.default.recovery to read CWM6 I don't think ES file explorer allows you to do it but ROM Toolbox pro (free version) does .

Hi everybody
When the factory images came out, I flash my N4 with the stock factory images that we used to find here : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamkrt16s because it is now the KRT16S build
After a few days, when the KRT16S build came out, I was proposed in my phone to update it. I downloaded it, tried to flash it but nothing worked, I'm still on KRT16O and the OTA doesn't appear anymore... Then I remembered that I flashed a mod found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527525 (that's a great mod btw) so I guessed that I could reflash the undo file available on the thread, flash the ota file dl mannually (I attached it in this thread) which I did through TWRP. Then I was able to see the problem, it told me that, from what I remember, Agenda.apk was missing (I think it's diary in english, not sure) then I remembered that I manually deleted some apps I never use (diary is one of them...)
So, what's next, shall I reflash the gapps to finally update my phone
Thanks for your help

Try avoiding toolkits as they can lead to problems and leave you stuck with no idea what to do. Yes he is referring to the sdk. Only the platform-tools folder in the sdk is required so if you don't wanna bother downloading the complete file, just download the platform-tools from here and extract it to an appropriate location. Extract and move the Factory Image that you downloaded to your platform-tools directory. If you don't want your data to be erased, edit the flash-all script with a text editor and remove -w and save. Plug in your phone. Make sure you have the drivers installed. In the platform tools directory, press shift+right click> open command prompt here. Type adb devices. You will see "device <Serial Number>. If you don't, your drivers are faulty. Then type adb reboot bootloader. Once your phone has rebooted into bootloader, make sure that it is being detected by typing fastboot devices. You should see an output similar to adb devices. Now simply run the flash-all script and let it do its work. Reboot after flashing is completed.
Hope this helps!
try search any youtube on how to flash factory images to your device. I guess u'll find lots.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Words of advice, learn how to use ADB instead of relying solely on toolkits. It's very simple actually.
Now there's a simple way to update which is sideload. Oh and btw to sideload, you still need ADB though (this is why learning ADB is VERY important to us, the N4 users). Here is a video tutorial on how to perform adb sideload. All the links are attached in his youtube video.

Once your phone has rebooted into bootloader, make sure that it is being detected by typing fastboot devices. You should see an output similar to adb devices. Now simply run the flash-all script and let it do its work. Reboot after flashing is completed.
Hope this helps!

For this to work you will need to be rooted with twrp installed.
This is for people who are on the stock rom or a rom without init.d support.
1. Download the wp_mod.ko file from @flar2's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701816
and copy it over to your SD card (either internal or external)
2. Boot into twrp
3. Select the "Mount" option on the main menu and tick system
4. Go back to the main menu and then go into the "Advanced" option. There will be a "File Manager" option
5. Navigate to the folder you saved the .ko file in and copy it (just touch the file and it will bring up the menu)
6. now navigate to /system/lib/modules and copy the file there by hitting the "select" button on the bottom right.
7. Navigate to /system/lib/modules and insure the file is there. Now touch it to bring up the menu. select "Chmod" option and enter in 644
8. reboot the device
9. Once booted fully open up Terminal emulator and type:
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko
10. Once that's done open up a file manager app with root access and mount as r/w and navigate to /system/etc and look for the file install-recovery.sh
11. edit the file using a text editor, adding the line insmod /system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko towards the bottom of the file
12. reboot and enjoy r/w on boot without running the command every time
13. profit
I don't have my hands on mine yet (ordered a Dev edition from Amazon), but I greatly appreciate your work here! R/W was a massive pain for me on my M7, and this seems much more simple and easy. Thanks again!

Thanks for the turorial, but this isn't working for me
The file can't be executed (even after chmod) - and if i try to execute this file in an other directory, my terminal says that this file can't be found..
Any ideas?
So my device simply ignores Step 7 .... :crying:

I know I am being a grammar nazi, but I am fairly certain you mean "ensure". I tried to just leave it alone, but I can't not say something. It's a curse.

It is ironic that a "grammar nazi" would use a double negative while pointing out a grammatical error...

Does this work if the phone is still s-on? (unlocked/rooted but no s-off)
Sorry, but will this fix my little niggling issue with MX player? I keep my Stewart/Colbert files on the extSD card, but I can't delete them when done watching them using MX Player's delete command. I have to remember which files are watched and then use ES File Explorer to delete them. A silly second step in my opinion. Yes I am rooted, s-on, with TWRP.
I'm staying stock hoping a firewater solves my s-on issue, but yes I should probably do a custom ROM to solve this and a few other things.
Will this make SD card writeable to all apps?
Will this make external micro SD card writeable to all apps?

MAN, NO DOUBLE POSTS. but yea it should do it...if not there is another way
In Terminal Emulator it says "Failed Exec Format Error". Any ideas?
I followed the 1st post directions without errors for Sense 6.0, Andoid 4.4.3. When I tried to:
1. When I tried editing and saving system/customize/ACC/default.xml in ES File Explorer phone rebooted on save and default.xml went back to stock
2. When I copied default.xml to extSD card, edited it, and tried overwriting system/customize/ACC/default.xml with edited default.xml in TWRP recovery phone also rebooted
I want to do this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/enable-built-music-channelroot-t2818128
I have here, two packages.
The twrp one is meant for those who have already flashed twrp, the other is for first time root via EDL.
Both flash System RW, updated TWRP and magisk.
TWRP package will not wipe Data, You will loose no data
NOTE - You may have to mount the system RW.
NOTE - The above will be fixed via a future custom rom.
Without further ado, here are the instructions.
Initial Root Instructions
Prep: You must have a Pin screen lock set on your device to prevent data loss.
On your phone go to
Settings>Security>Screen Lock>PIN
and set a pin.
USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking have to be enabled to make this work.
On Your phone go to
Setting>About phone
Then tap on build number 10 time to unlock Developer Settings
Now go to
Settings>Developer Options
Then toggle usb debugging and oem unlocking.
1. Download this package B20 Via QFIL
2. Unzip the file to your desktop.
3. Right click on RunasAdmin_TestSignON.bat and run as administrator.
4. Let your machine reboot.
5. Run Run This.bat
6. Install everything it tells you to install.
NOTE Select WWAN-DHCP when asked
7. RTFM and flash (All the files your need for qfil are in the B20 Folder!!!!)
8. Profit
Then
9.Press and hold Vol+ and Power
10.Once the ZTE screen shows, let go of power while continuing to hold vol+
This will get you into twrp
11.Plug you phone into your computer and from your adb directory, run these commands.
12.adb shell
13.setenforce 0
14.exit
Now on your phone, in twrp
15.Swipe to allow midification
16.Tap Backup
17.check data
18.tap select storage
19.Select microsdcard
20.tap ok
21.Swipe to backup
22.Tap home
23.Tap wipe
24.Tap Format Data
25.Enter yes and tap the blue checkmark
26.Tap home
27.Tap Power off
28.Turn your phone on.
For those who have TWRP already on their device, follow these instructions.
1. Download this package. B20 via TWRP
2. Extract it to your desktop
3. Run "Flash full B25.bat"
4. Profit

Do you think this will work with my hard bricked phone?
so if our system is still ro, all we have to do is mount rw every time? I was hoping that we would only need to mount it like one time, because im basically doing the same thing I was doing before.

test this. you might need to rename the zip file to bootanimtion.zip.

Appreciate the update, same problem as before though RO /system and a mount -o rw,remount /system command results in the phone freezing and then restarting.

I use ES File Explorer. Open the app, wait for su to grant it access, then change the system to RW. I've noticed that the phone will freeze if I tried to switch to RW before the File Explorer was granted su access.

I noticed that too. I also tried to see if root explorer would mount rw after I used es to mount rw, and it turns out that u still have to mount system separately in both file managers. Bummer because I was looking for a way to always have my system mounted as rw between both file managers.

I'm guessing once a custom rom is available, the whole system RW situation will be situated. Is there an advantage of root explorer over es explorer?

I personally use root explor to chmod files, I dont think es can do it, however es has its own perks as well, so I just keep both just in case

Lol, actually you can put init.d scripts in /sbin/.magisk/img/.core/service.d/ and they will do it on boot.
