I just did a battery swap on my Note 8. After having this tablet for 2+ years, the battery was just not lasting more than an hour.
I got a battery from EBay, about $15.00 which included the tools to do this job. http://www.ebay.com/usr/smart_battery?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
Getting the back off was fairly straight forward, although it did get a bit stiff at times and I was concerned about snapping it.
The battery screws came off fairly easy as well. The battery connector was the hardest part to disconnect, but it came off.
All in all, it took about 15 minutes, getting the back off was the most time consuming. The battery life is back to where it should be

There were times I thought the back was going to snap coming off, but other than that a pretty easy project and saved me having to upgrade my tablet.

Yea the tools that were included made it easier than I thought it would be. Thankfully the screwdrivers were magnetized. Man those screws inside the battery compartment were very tiny. Overall though I'd say it worked great

Took my HD2 for a saltwater swim off the dock last week. Pulled the battery, flushed with fresh water, shook out the water, hair dryer on low for three hours. Next afternoon put the bat in and working fine. Water spot on screen top took about three days to disapear completly. I know, lucky. Leaving today on a three month sail so didn't want to depend on an ify phone. I had an upgrade overdue so off to Best Buy holiday sale fornthe Samsung Infuse.
Was going to set it up and put it back in the box till needed. Nope. Got this thing rooted and unlocked in about 20 minutes. Titaniumed my apps in and there is no looking back. Read the screen fine in the bright sun? No problem. 4.5" screen. Beautiful. Every thing my HD2 could do on Android but more stable. Battery life is incredible. Fast using launcher pro.
Only drawback for some people might be that it is a little taller. Still fits in my jeans front pocket with a case mate pop case on just fine.
Sorry HD2. It was a good run while it lasted. You are a great phone, but sometimes a man has to just move on.
Aha.
And now, what?
Have fun with it.
Anyone know if there are any that are actually worth it and don't begin degrading?
I've read a lot of reviews saying that most of them work for 1-2 weeks and then start to lose strength.
I'm looking for a reliable brand.
I have had my HTC Evo 4G 1800 mah batteries since the G2 came out. No degradation, minor label modification. Battery door fits fine.
I also have one, but I don't use it every day, just couple of times when going on a trip or traveling. I can easily tell it hold a lot more juice than original and the battery door is well made and has this soft touch, not a cheap plastic.
Also lately I began using external battery charger, the black one that plugs directly into the phone, no cables. I simply always have one in my bag.
the chichitec ones have been working good for me stock rom rooted. I'm getting about 18-20 hours or so depending on usage. The fastest I've been able to kill it is probably 7-9 hours of constant use with everything on, but that was intentional to see how fast i could kill it lol. Cost me like 18 buck on amazon, removed label clipped the ends and voila cover fits perfectly just tape on battery above microsd card holder so it wont short out.

What do you mean clip the ends and tap on battery above microsd holder? Does it not fit OTB? Can you use the original battery covery with it?
There is this tiny clip you snip for the g2 (the battery is meant for another htc model but it fits) and remove the plastic vinyl cover, after that it just fits with the stock cover. The problem is you need to make sure the bare metal battery does not ground out with the sd card holder. a simple piece of tape works well. Search chichitec on here and there are several threads and how to's.

Good luck! I hope it does then I'll get one lmao! I'm getting about 20 hours moderate use on mine. On days i work and go to school and i don't use it at much I probably get more but i don't bother checking every 30 minutes like I did before. This new GB rom is waaaaay faster and better on battery life lol. My batteries were labeled as 1900 mah so not too much of a diff I think it'll fit...if not grind it down lol.

yea they were 14 bucks so ill give it a shot, i also ordered a galilio 1650mah thats made for the desire z for 8 bucks free shipping lol. so if the evo wont fit ill have a backup anyways. the stock lasts me about 18 hours on cm7 with horrible signal at work for 8 hours so its not too bad, a little more juice is always good tho

Yea I hear ya! I'm not doing too bad at school where there is zero signal. Maybe 1 bar if your lucky. Only place I don't get 4G

Galilio?
I pay 20 $ for 2 x 2000 mah + charger for the 4g.
Its been 2 months since my purchase, and its hard to say if its better than the stock one. My use are so different days after days. But, one thing sure, its not worst than the oem.
You can see some interesting details here :

I was just wondering - did it fit?
and how is it?
I've had a Mugen 1800 battery in mine for a long while now, works great and no having to clip or modify or tape in any way. Between that and using the Green Power app I can easily get 2 days out of mine before charging.

just got it about an hour ago actually, wont fit not without sanding it down, and to be honest it doesnt look very well fabricated after the sticker is off it. also since i read the post above on how its not really much better than the 4g stock battery im not gonna bother sanding it to make it fit. i have a 1650mah battery on its way as well which says its for the desire z, so it should fit perfectly, but ill let you guys know if it does in fact last longer than the stocker.
so to sum things up, the evo 4g slim 2000mah wont fit without quite a bit of modification, its close...very close, but still requires sanding. if in fact it had amazing reviews i would mod it but ill just cut my losses and toss it.
update on the 1650mah dz battery to follow as soon as i recieve it. battery performance a few days following that.
cheers

Is this Serious?
It takes like 5 minutes with a dremel (including get it out from his box and plug it) to make the battery fit.
If you can use a cell phone, I'm pretty sure you can fit the 4 G battery...
MugenPowerBatteries anyway!
So my me being the dumb*** I am bought me a nexus 4, but neglected to add the $6 for insurance. Now, that's all fine and dandy, managed to save a few measly bucks, but gained a whole lot of headache. I didn't even fork out for a case at the time of purchase. I went out drinking after work, and some point during my inebriated state, I dropped my phone, bad. It already had a deep crack from being dropped on.a curb, so this did quite some damage. The touchscreen only works on one side, and barely. I'm pretty sure I need to buy a digitizer and led touchscreen assembly, but I'm not certain. can anyone link me to the part I need(preferably cheap, but not generic and low quality.
any help would be appreciated, I hate my current phone, and I'm paying off two phones now because the nexus wasn't fully paid yet.
Thanks in advance!

kinda sorta same situation...My nexus was in my pocket for 20-30 mins while in the pool. I cried for a bit then quickly put it in a bag rice and tossed in my car. Finally tried it today (3 days later) and the damn thing booted, but I think my battery is screwed. It turns on then quickly says "powering down". Time to amazon a new battery i guess...
okay guys, dont worry my nexus 4 dive in my swiming pool last month, and still rocking.
1) you need to tear down your device, as much as you can, thanks LG for making it so easy. ifixit.com has a good guide.
2)2 or 3 days in a bowl of rice, believe me, rice its amazing.
3)MUST WAIT 2 or 3 days! then assemble again and check whats wrong. Many times the microphone stop working, a flex of 12 bucks on ebay fix it. its pretty easy to change it. Ifixit again
4) before assembly, make sure your phone is clean, and if you have a voltmeter, check if the battery is not dead. Every time a phones suffers watter damage (or similar) MUST be turned off as soon as you can.
tell us how is it going on
I dropped my phone last week, cost me about 160euros for the screen/digitizer + time/shipping.
Good luck.

Maybe it's my OCD or maybe just that I love my G2. Knowing that when the times comes and my battery finally dies my G2 will be useless actually bothers me. Right now is the perfect phone except for this one small detail.
Is there a solution for this? Will it be possible to use the phone when plugged in after the battery goes?

The battery like the rest of the phone is warrantied for a year, and rated to last for several.
Do you really think you're going to keep the phone long enough to kill the battery?
Very few phones have replaceable batteries now, and I'll take excellent build quality on the phone over a removable battery every time.

I do. All my old devices get repurposed into weather/clock stations in various rooms in my house. Why toss them? I have yet to have any battery die though.
Once it's out of warranty you can just buy a new battery and replace it yourself. I don't think it should be too hard to take the back off... The nexus 4 wasn't anyway.

Have you seen what you must do to replace it?
I doubt that anyone would do it himself. Never the less there are services who can replace it for you.
It is really hard to kill the battery. I have 3 years old phones which can last work day without charging.
I've never had an issue with batteries and I don't see having one with this phone.
on the move..
Keep the phone hot while charging (say, as a GPS in the car) you'll kill it within 18 months, easy. But treat it right and it'll be just fine.
And yes, I don't like the non-replaceable battery. That said, I've only replaced the battery in one phone that I was still using in the last four years.
And while replacing the battery in the G2 isn't impossible, it's far from easy. Lots of little cables to unplug, move, heavily glued down stuff, etc.. Pain in the ass.
I will not take years of significant extra bulk and 15% less battery life (2600 vs 3000mAh) just to easily be able to replace the battery 2 years from now. I would rather replace the phone when the battery dies, which will be needed anyway.
I also find it a little problematic long term. But I like the size of this phone. So I decided to buy it anyway.
No, I don't care if I have to spend some extra hour switching the battery if I still have the phone after 3 years or so when it's getting bad and needs to be replaced.
I have a 910T3 that I slow charge (AC) most of the time. When I see the green light go on, I unplug and see 100%, but after I reboot into TWRP recovery it is usually like 93%. Which one is accurate? I'd prefer the green light to go on when it's really 100%. Thank you.
Also, the stock battery is about 20 months old, and I can use it to about 0%-1% before it shuts off.
You could try reinitializing your battery. However seeing as your battery is that old. You would be better off getting a new one.
What is reinitializing the battery? I really wanted to avoid buying a new battery unless I really had to. I've read people's battery dying at like 25% left, that's when I'd buy a new one.

Above post is correct as your battery is quite old it is probably time for a new one. My old note 4 was very similar to this before the emmc failed in it it would always show different percentages on battery, the phone died before i got to replace battery though

Man I was hoping it wasn't time for a new battery just yet. Also, sorry to hear about your n4. Looks like eventually all of them will die like that soon. I swear this was planned cause the n5 wasn't that great, trying to thin out the n4 herd.

I tried the no5 for a bit, but wasn't really impressed with it. It had it's pros and cons, but I felt the no4 was better overall for my uses. I read others saying pretty much the same thing with sticking with the no4 rather than moving on the no5 cause of no battery or microsd card support etc.
How did you deal with dead batteries out of warranty or did you have both battery issues in the first year?

Lol i bought 3 note 5s and pieced them together with one one good screen and a bad usb port on said screen i swapped the batteries myself I heated the baqck and didnt bust it just scratched it. so i ordered a new back and use small dabs of rubber cement to put it back on.
I do all my own repairs no warranty. i had a verizon tmobile and sprint mother boards luckily I rooted before the usb went out completly and used wifi file transfer and wireless charge for that issue. So much as I now despise Usb ports and no wireless charge on devices.

Wow, I wish I had the skills and patience to do that. I know I'd make things worse and end up paying more in the long run for parts and fixing it. I think that is a huge reason why many won't move onto these newer phones without replaceable batteries.
I swapped out an older, but less used oem no4 battery and will see if it's any better.
So I'm using the older battery and lights up green at 100% (same level as TWRP rec).
But today, my phone just shut off at around 35-39% while in the middle of streaming a short video clip. Only way to turn it back on was to remove then reinsert the battery. Is this normal of dying batteries around the last 1/3 or could this possibly be an unstable kernel issue.
