I want to buy a honor 7 premium and i am not sure if it is the right phone for me. I read different reviews for the honor 7 and perhaps someone in the big xda-developer community has a honor 7 and a little bit of time to answer my questions, because honor 7 and honor 7 premium are very similar?
How long can I use it? Honor say about two days I think thats a bit long but am I able to work with the phone for the whole day without charging it? And whats about the fingerprint sensor? Does it work reliable? And my third question is how "android" is the emui from honor? I dont want an iPhone and the screenshots I saw looked almost like an ios surface.

Hi!
Honor 7 and Honor 7 premium are very similar. 2 different things:
Honor 7: 16 or 64 GB RAM, 5V/2A charger
Honor 7 Premium: 32 GB RAM, 9V/2A (& 5V/2A too) quick charger.
Thanks for the specifications ? Do you have information about my further questions?
A question about the charger can I use normal 5V chargers for the honor 7 premium or do I have to use the specific 9V/5V honor charger? I think with 9V the phone should be charged in about 1.5 hours is that approximately right?

2 days: yes, possible, I have both Honor 7 16 GB and Honor 7 Premium 32 GB with different firmware, first named with B330 MM6.0, second with B180 LP5.02, both running great
fingerprint sensor: no problem, runs reliable
EMUI: this is heavy modification of plain android, but I am happy with it, saves battery and also runs smooth, all features I wanted are present; I was long time Samsung user but was always replacing Touchwiz with CM
Iphone like:
just install NOVA launcher and you get what you want (as I did)
disadvantage: email exchange synchronization, namely contacts, adding new contact in mobile breaks contact list inm Pixelphone (and any other contact list different than system one) and prevents using Pixelphone for some period until contacts re-synchronize

Thank you that is exactly what i want to hear ☺. I think I will buy the premium version in the next weeks. Another question related to the disadvantage you mentioned is it possible to deactivate sync cause i am not a fan of having my data stored in clouds that are not my own. A raspberry and owncloud do better work in my opinion.

Yes, you can disable sync. or backround-datatransfer of the whole phone or selected by app (phone-manager make’s it possible)
I recommend to use a special app for it! Have a look at: ->"Netguard"
* You need no root for using it
* it gives you full control to your data transfer
* it stopped advertising (only the Git-Hub version will do that!)

I'm currently an Android phone user. I have windows 8 on my PC. And I have watched so many WP7.5 and WP8 videos.
Simple question: Why same apps on windows phone don't have many options in the app settings?
I am not talking about "Color Pallete", or "custom ringtones". I do not want them, I can live without them. But still Android stock apps have more options compared to WP stock apps. For eg Gmail stock app gives options like " Sync inboxes and labels" to select labels to sync (only those labels which you want) , then "Signature"
Windows mail app on Windows 8 is very very basic. How is email app for WP8?
And is there this thing true in any sense that WP8 apps provide fewer options (may be app developers also following minimalistic approach from Microsoft).
Also those using WP7.5 or WP8, suppose you just turned on your WP8, and you didn't open email app. So if you get a new email, will the app notify you. I mean you didn't open email app, but will it keep checking my email in background? Is this possible for 3rd party email client apps?
Please provide answer, I want to buy WP8.
You do have more settings in android apps but do you really use them? the answer is...really no.
The email app in wp7.5 is great. The email app in WP8 is also great. The email app in W8 sucks balls, although it is useful for quickly checking the email.
The email will be updated in background. It is called a background task. Don't worry, you won't lose anything over your android phone.
GMail is a special case - there are no "Labels" on any other E-Mail services so an E-Mail-client that is not GMail-only obviously doesn't have those.
Aside from that E-Mail checking in the background (and via Push) works without problems although this is only true for the system mail app. You would not be able to realize sync intervals < 30 minutes for alternative Apps - guess that is why there are none.
Yes, windows phone apps in general have a lot less options and functionality. The goal is simplicity at the sacrifice of functionality. I would say if you are looking for as many options and functions as possible, stick with Android.

I would not be so quick to suggest that users don't use features / options. If you're talking specifically about Gmail, maaaybe I can buy it. But I am a heavy business user, and I can tell you I customize many of my apps. Gmail is a bad example... Exchange email and the options for Exchange on Android would probably be a better one.
I prefer AOSP for it's size and simplicity from a GUI perspective, but I also download tons of apps I've found to be better than stock.
I considered a move to WP8, but in my opinion, WP8 just doesn't cut it from an app perspective on any level. I will take flexibility over simplicity any day of the week. I hope WP* matures to be a strong alternative to Android / Apple (I've never owned an apple product), but it just isn't there yet.
Simple answer: development is half-assed for WP.

wait, losing options to view different folders and boxes -is- an issue. loosing the ability to sync which email addy, at different intervals -is- an issue. more settings (or more importantly, LOSING those settings) -is- definitely an issue. having the flexibility to decide what happens is what makes a smartphone, smart.

Agreed. The Android version to this app is great, but the WP version is useless. The Board Express app for WP is much better. If app development really picks up, WP will take off in the eyes of consumers.

Does WP8 have good equaliser like DSP MANGER found in CM7 rooms on android?
I think DSP is the best Equalizer ever on any device or OS.
How do the Nokia Equaliser in WP8 compare with DSP on android?

You shouldn't need an equaliser. No phone or MP3 should need one. You only need one to make up for bad headphones or lousy DAC.

It's strange, because the XDA WP7 app is literally just the rebranded Board express. But the board express app is better and has significantly less bugs. From where I'm sitting, it looks like the person in charge of the XDA app doesn't actually need to do any coding, he just needs to push through updates from board express but hasn't bothered to. Or maybe board express doesn't give free updates, in which case their "package" is a joke.
They did the same thing with the android version. Copy of Tapatalk.

Does that mean "no" or "I don't know" ?
Apourv, the Nokia Equalizer on WP8 is decent. It is not as good in terms of versatility and options as DSP, mostly because of both the hardware and software restrictions. Still, it is a marked improvement over what was there is 7.5. Audio wise, WP8 is a better move forward...for example I don't need the volume as loud on the Lumia 810 as I did with the Focus S during commutes. Comparing Dolby to Dolby, what was found in the Lumia 810 is years ahead quality wise of the HTC Mozart. I don't claim to be an audiophile but the sound is cleaner and more natural. I think as much as some think it is a gimmick, walking into a store and listening to music on a HTC One device vs a HTC 8X should show you that WP8 is an audio improvement.
Sent from my RM-878_nam_usa_100 using Board Express
The idea is to support the necessary functionality but not to add loads of crap on top of that. Many developers (myself included) belief that your App should be tailored to a specific use case and try to fullfill that as best as it can.
Setting sync intervals for every account is of course possible and of course you can select subfolders to be synced (although it gets tricky to unselect them later). Also you can directly pin subfolder to your start screen if you e.g. have one that contains Very High Priroity E-Mails. And of course E-Mail checks in the background for the system App.
In the end the core functionalities reguarly are there but some add-ons or more complicated settings are often removed and replaced with an often reasonable default.
On my phone, I often download web pages on my PC and transfer them to my SD card so I can read them later on my phone on the go.
On WP8 there's no file explorer. Also no alternate browser like Opera, so Absolutely No possibility of that on WP8.

Basically, everything you did manually can be done some other way on WP8. A little bit of research goes a long way... There are many services that do what you just described; get a pocket (formerly read it later) account. Get an app for it. Done.

Im getting the nexus 10 for Christmas and at my high school we can use computers, tablets etc. But are there any good office apps like word or one note type things. Or is there any news of Microsoft apps. Thank you and i pray the light-bleed inst that bad. And is there any news of good keyboard docks?
First, stop listening to people *****ing about light bleed, it's not that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things.
As for office programs, there are half a dozen half decent ones you can buy, one of the guys in the XOOM forum did a pretty in depth review of most of them (I believe it was funnycreature) do a search and have a read of that, then make your choice.
From my experience, you might need to buy more than one to get everything done, this of course can get a little costly with the suits costing £10 or so each.

I don't think that there will be a keyboard dock like you know it from the Asus transformer line. You'll have to use a Bluetooth keyboard. Go to the accessories section. There are some threads about cases. There are also some cases with integrated Bluetooth keyboards.

BUT I've been hearing many complain about having to reboot and many other issues. Will this tablet be a good choice overall or should i just get a ipad due to the best app store ever.
If i do proceed in getting this tablet what should i do first? And should i update to the new os or keep the stock rom? Will cynogen mod be the best bet even though many are having difficulties. I would love to hear everyone's:confused feedback.

QO does not have a trial version anymore - we discontinued it at version 4.1. Our viewer will be preloaded on the stock 4.2 Android OS, so you'll be able to see it in action a little.
If you have specific file types that you need tested, go to help.quickoffice.com, and send us an example file or two and we'll test it and list any issues we come across before you choose to purchase.

I'm using CM 10 on the HTC One S and Samsung Galaxy 3 and stock Android on the Nexus 7 & 4. I don't really see a huge difference except for the fact that CM10 has a lot more customization.
If it boiled down to choosing one for a Nexus device, I'd choose stock Android because I dont use most of the customization (unless it's UI stuff, which I can use a launcher for) and I'm not allowed to access my corporate account from the CM 10 device. If I wasn't using a Nexus device, I'd stick with CM 10 to get rid of bloatware.
I'm not sure if that really helps all that much, but that's where things stand for me.
As a result of the research I conduct as a part of FunkyHuawei, I've currently got my hands on what looks to be a prerelease version of EMUI 5.1 for the Mate 9, Chinese version (I also have the same build for the Mate 9 Pro). I will be installing it, testing it out, and posting my findings here.
Initial observations:
The boot logo/sound is the same as EMUI 5.
The touch response is VERY NOTICEABLY improved.
The performance is very noticeably improved. Apps open instantaneously.
Although there are strings that indicate it's EMUI 5.1 in the filesystem, 'about phone' still shows Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0
Wifi throughput has improved. I previously got 100mbps, I now get 180mbps.
There is a need to enter an employee Huawei ID login, but I was able to bypass this by not having internet connectivity when starting the phone the first time. Still, it comes up and blocks access to the phone periodically. I'm looking to find a more permanent way around this.
Update: I've gotten around it by rooting and freezing the beta app with Titanium backup. I'll use this as a daily driver and see how it goes.

1. Is this a good tablet to get? I looked at the specs and it looks pretty decent for the price. Does anyone here have this already?
2. Can it be rooted? If yes, is the process difficult? Is there a guide here on how to do it?
3. I heard that this tablet has a lot of bloatware and useless apps. Can these be removed with titanium backup?
4. Can 5ghz wi-fi be enabled through rooting? If it can, what is the process?
5. How is the battery life? And does it charge quickly?
I think that's it for now. Thank you for any answers or help you guys are able to give me.

2. yes, but not really needed
3. no it's slim
4. already available as long as you are not in burgerland
5. decent, not spectacular
I'm in the United States. Which I'm guessing is burgerland. I looked up the M5. It's nice but it doesn't have a headphone jack. Like wtf? It's also not coming to the us. And is expensive at over $300. I'll stick with the M3.

I use it in my truck for playing mp3's via BT to my truck stereo. Battery life is not too bad and it does charge in a reasonable amount of time. I think it was like 40% to 100% in about 90 minutes.

Must be because it's from my orders, it works for me..it's no longer listed at that price when I search the site. Link removed.
I have bought the 8" variant last week and just want to share my experience. The model is CPN-L09 with 3gb ram and 32gb.
1. Since I am migrating from old Nexus 7 (2012), performance is really good in my opinion. I haven't tested much, though it never lags while opening multiple applications. The response is very quick. Display and sound are good.
2. For a rooting/custom rom solution, I have been searching a lot. But couldn't find a method yet.
3. There was some bloatware. But I removed almost all though an adb shell using the 'pm uninstall' way.
4. I have no idea.
5. Battery last for two days on heavy use. It takes around 3 hours to reach 100%.
Hope this helps.
Thanks. Yes, this helps.

1. Yes, it is a good tablet for its price. Performs quite well.
2. As far as I know, it can be rooted. Mine is not rooted since I haven't find the need in rooting the device.
3. No, there's not much bloatware pre-installed in my tablet.
4. I believe it's already enabled without rooting.

I really like this tablet, mine however is the LTE version but from research, not much of a difference between the Wi-Fi only and the LTE aside from the cellular capability.
During Google I/O 2018, Google officially released ARCore 1.2. With this version, they added compatibility with a wider (but still limited) range of devices. Most importantly, our Nexus 5X is listed as compatible ! You can check the full list of compatible devices here.
Caveat: the new version of ARCore is still being rolling out worldwide (i.e. might not show up on Google Play Store yet), but if you are impatient (like me ) you can download the latest APK from Google's GitHub repository (direct link to APK). APKMirror is listing the latest APK as well, but I haven't tested it.
Installation went smoothly, I also followed Google's instruction (link) to package the HelloAR app. And.... IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY! No lag, tracking is on point, it can detect surfaces located at different heights (i.e. separate the floor from a table), and it also has vertical planes' support!
Since I couldn't find the HelloAR APK that used the latest SDK, I compiled it myself in 5 mins. But if you are lazy, and don't want to follow the Getting Started guide, You can get the APK I got straight out of Unity from here, no changes made. However, I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITIES IN CASE YOU BRICK YOUR OWN DEVICE. Since I never posted an APK before, you might think I could infect this APK with malware, and I understand that. If you don't want to trust me, go ahead and compile the app yourself: it's free, and will take you less than 10 mins :good:
Tell me what you think guys of this awesome news :highfive:
You can now download it from store! No more crazy hacking, yay!
What does this do? And would it be worth it to put on the 5x

This would basically add advanced augmented reality support to your device. For example, you can use an app to accurately measure the distance between two point using your phobe, or try Ikea furniture and see how they would look like in your room. It's excitirng because we believed Google wouldn't have added support for an "old" device such us Nexus 5X
Sounds good I'll add it

Thanks, it's awesome!!!
But how to have something different than the Android robot, must we create the samples with sdk or is there already some available models. Because on the show dated 8 months ago, there were playing with lot of objects.

You can create you own apps using the SDK, or you can try other apps such us ARuler, Ikea Place or Just a Line (these are the apps I tested, and work with this version of ARcore on Nexus 5X running Android Oreo 8.1).
Does this mean AR stickers will work too?

I think they still need to be updated, since they are still upside down.. You can try and maybe get different results!
