Hi all.
This phone is becoming a joke, it seems that with every update Google or Samsung are crippling this phone.
N9005XXUFNF4 was supposed to improve battery life on the Note 3, so why is my battery drain worse?
I bought the Note 3 to do away with netbooks and tablets, but now I am being forced to use them again.
When I use the internet, browsing on the Note 3 itself, my battery can lose 50% in under 30 minutes. I am then forced to switch off data out of fear that the phone will not last the day.
However, when I tether a notebook or a tablet to the Note 3, it will give me about 8 hours of internet usage before it needs charging.
So what is the point of the Note 3 now? It is quickly becoming just an expensive modem.
Mine is worse too but not as yours. I want some solution.

Seems like you guys have got faulty hardware or something, my note 3 is soon a year old and it's doing just fine in the battery department. Try resetting your notes completely or try different roms if you are into flashing.

I am not as good as i was in ND4, but it defo behaves better then any NEx and NFx. Just hit 2 days with 3 hours screen time, i am very fine with that.
Simply solution. Flash skyhigh kernel and U will have 10 hours screen on time. Or 3 days normal usage. .
I'm always doing stuff on internet. Mobiledata/WiFi I think thats why it drains faster.

Do a clean flash, reflash stock in Odin and try again.

Faulty hardware? No. Faulty update or flash, most likely.
By using simple tools to monitor your battery usage, you could trace and eliminate problems. I use BetterBatteryStats.

No.
1. KK ruined battery life so you can't get over 6 hours of screen on in 4.4.2 unlike 4.3.
2. Different devices have different quality chips. You can't guarantee same results.
3. Show me your 10 hours screen on time with no underclocking or undervolting, or even a screen cap of 3 days of normal usage (Facebook, Whatsapp, Tapatalk)

I suggest AuroraKernel v11R2 , i can simply go thru a day with my data and wifi on
Thanks everyone.
Unfortunately this phone has not improved. I can tether all day, but if I use the phone for what it was designed for, i.e, browsing internally it drains quicker than my bath.
I now have the most expensive phablet acting as a modem for other tablets, this really defeats the whole point of buying this phone.
I have been with Samsung since the GS3, but now my next phone will not be another Samsung.

There must be something wrong with your configuration, my phone lasts around 4-5 hours screen on.
Hello everyone .
I am currently a Note 2 owner and I skipped upgrading to note 3 as it did not seem such a big upgrade to me plus all the goods <software> was brought to me by the devs of the Eteam . Was willing to upgrade to Note 4 but then Edge came along and now thinking of getting one of these frontier devices.
The problem that I see from the forum is the battery life in this device , I can consider myself a power user and I do get in average of 4 to 5 hours of screen time on the 2 year old Note 2, anyone coming from Note 2 can shed some light regarding this issue as I am so used to have more than just 4 hours of screen time and that is a compromise I am not willing to make since I consider this am upgrade , is Edge worth or better get a Note 4 ?
Thank you in advance.

Here's the thing, note edge/note 4 has double the screen resolution as your note 2, and the edge has a battery 100mah less than the n2. Granted the processor can give you plenty of standby time, but screen on time won't be as good as you currently have it. You can always carry a spare battery, since it's a Samsung.

I thought the new screens are more power efficient <25 %> compare to the 2 year old tech on the Note 2.
So with a Note 4 would be also the same issue you say ?

I had the Note 2 and it was not exactly a stellar performer in SOT from what I recall. You won't notice much difference going to the Note4 or Edge in that regard. Maybe a slight improvement. But the screen quality and performance will more than make up for it. Plus the new fast-charging capabilities are pretty effective.

You can get the Ultra power saver mode too in custom roms but I am asking in identical conditions, which of the 2 has longer screen time , it makes no sense to me to use a 1000 usd device in black and white just bcs of the battery .

You can't compare the note 2 and note 4 or Edge as apples to apples. The processor alone on the Note 4 is more efficient. And if you get the T-Mobile variant you'll get root and can do greater control of things that eat battery.
But even the stock versions allow you to at least disable most of the bloat or apps you won't use thereby stretching the battery life out.
I have both the note 4 and note edge and get at least a full day on them. I consider myself an average user doing primarily email, music, web and some gaming (temple run 2 is my addiction) and I get at least 4 hours of screen time with about 25-30% battery left by the time I go to bed.
I picked up the Edge after having a Note 2 from release. I see a massive battery life difference for the better. I had replaced the battery in my Note 2 twice, and in it's prime with Ditto Note flashed, I was pulling almost a full day if not a full day of heavy use. Since picking up the note, I've been getting home from work with atleast 30% left. Actually, I don't think I've had a low battery notification since I picked it up. Looking forward to rooting, but out of the box...I'm impressed Samsung.
OMG N2 to N-edge
YOU WILL LOVE IT, I cant put it down. The phone drinks battery but purchased 2 extra batteries with portable charger. When you buy the phone samsung gives you 50% off all accessories. Well worth it, I loved the N2 and the N3 wasn't enough to upgrade off contract. N-Edge AWESOME:laugh::laugh::laugh::silly::silly::silly::victory::victory::victory:
And as an added bonus, the edge has 'adaptive charging' which allows you to go from 0%-50% in 30 minutes. That combined with 'quick charge 2.0' and swappable batteries, you should be good to go.

This was SOT of my Note 2 when battery was new.
More than 9 hours on one charge.
When I hear you guys telling that I need to carry a spare battery with me or that the supercharger does 50 % in 30 min , I simply get scared.
Of course I will root and debloat the device but .............
Still sitting on a fence about getting this awesome device or not.
Thank you all for the feedback.
Maybe someone will come out with an extended battery that will last all day? At least I hope they do.

Same situation. Same comments. I'm on the att varient. I heavily modified my note 2 and frankly I'm OK with no root for now. Very happy with my upgrade.
I switch from a Note II to the Note Edge a few days ago and I love it! The only thing I'm missing is root... Ordered the spare battery charging kit just like with the Note II using the 50% off coupon. do iT!
I'm in the same boat.... but want an exynos version. ...

You'll receive a 50% off coupon code once you register your device with Samsung. It's a one-time use only... Hope that helps!
My Note 3 has about 15% better battery stats than my Note 2. The Note 4 from what I can tell is about the same as my 3 but that's with the higher res screen. My guess is that the Edge will be about the same as the 2, at least that's what I'm expecting anyway.
Now only those with an edge could attest to this but if you use your edge screen wisely to skip all the full screen on 10 sec checks of whatever wouldn't that save bat in the long run. If you can quickly edge through your notification without turning the whole thing on that should save you lots by the end of the day.
Hey guys! So I have a hard decision to make now.
Quick Story:
I bought iPhone 6 Plus in December last year. I had quite enough saved money to afford it.
Before iPhone I had Note 3 but I had to sell it because it barely worked anymore. Battery life was terrible, I couldn't use my phones camera cause it always crashed(force closed) on all roms I flashed, except for Stock Samsung roms.
I spent 5-6 months with my IPhone but I missed the features that Note 3 had + Specs! Come on guys! Octa-core, 16MP camera, 4K recording, S-Pen, ANDROID 5.0! Pretty much all I needed. So I traded my IPhone for Note 4 that someone used for a month.
Problems started after 2 months. At this point I can't take photos(they don't save, even on stock samsung rom), charging is terrible, takes 2 hours to charge it and then battery goes down after like 40-60 minutes of use(even after buying new battery), like a week ago I discovered that I can't even charge my phone anymore! Every time I plug my phone in (no matter if it's computers USB or it's original charger) It just doesn't charge. I found way to charge it though, and all I have to do is to charge it when the phone is turned off. Magically battery charges within around an hour, and I can use my phone for up to 3-4 hours.
Why aren't You going to take it to Samsung Service Center? Well. I took my Note 3 there, and all they did is that they cleaned battery pins and yeah, that's it.
One positive word to IPhone haters! My IPhone had a broken call speaker after like 3 weeks of use, but then I took it to Apple Genius Bar and got it fixed within 15-20 minutes.
So help me guys! Should I sell my Note 4 for some "acceptable" money and buy IPhone 6s Plus in a couple of months, or.. Any ideas?
I am personally switching too, maybe I need a break from Android after 8 years of regular usage. I've too had the 6s Plus and I really loved it but I let it go for the Note 4 just like you coz, damn it looked impressive but just in few months my eyes opened Switch to CM ROM's and heck, I love my Note 4 but guess it's time to keep at as a backup device! Happily switching to the 6s Plus next month, it's a power-horse and does everything I need it to and damn, it's a phone which works like a phone and that's all I need and want it to do!
P.S don't hit me for this people, I need simplicity in life for some time, might return after 2-3 years, who knows.
I see no reason other than wanting to play games that are not on Android, but at some point all will come sooner or later
Do you always let ppl make your choices?
Stay on android

Hello,
My Nexus 6P, albeit a great phone, is starting to get a little slow and the battery life has suffered. My memory usage isn't high, around 2GB. I close all apps after using them. I haven't even used close to half of my 64GB storage.
I am a very heavy phone user, and I am having to recharge my 6P more than once every day. I cannot sustainably use max screen brightness as it drains the battery too quickly, a shame because maximum brightness on this phone is so beautiful!
From some testing, it is taking 2 minutes and 3 seconds to drop 1% in battery life at maximum screen brightness while watching YouTube. Round to two minutes, multiply by 100, and that gives you 200 minutes. 3 hours and 20 minutes.. that is silly, plus the battery drops off faster as the percentage decreases (I tested at 94%).
Realistically, I can get 2.5-3 hours on this phone at maximum brightness - is there something wrong, or is this just the phone? While writing this post in 5 minutes, I dropped another 3%...
It should be pretty obvious that a 2k screen at maximum (!) brightness can drain the battery faster.

Yes, but Techradar's test of a 90 minute video with adaptive brightness OFF (like me) takes battery down to 75%. That's 25% down in 1.5 hours, meaning the battery life of their test model would be 6 hours video playback, more than double what I get.
What gives?
Lower the brightness.

You're taking 1 instance of a test and multiplying it as it the variables within that instance will remain the same. Batteries drain faster the more they are used in an instance because of the heat. This type of test can be done with a flashlight. Turn it on for an extended period of time and then turn it off for a few seconds. Turn it on again and the brightness will be at max (for the batteries' capacity at the time), after about 5 seconds, the light will dim suddenly.
Same thing happens in phones. Manage your brightness.

So essentially, this is just the battery life of the 6P?
Seems a little weird to give a phone such a beautiful display but we are unable to use it to its full extent because it won't last.

I can't say that, but I can say there's no device that we can expect to just use that way. All devices (even outside of smartphones) are like that. If it runs on a battery expect not to be able to use it to its full capabilities for an extended period of time.
Cars are the same way. If you run it at max speed all the time (if there were no laws), you'll run out of gas extremely quickly, compared to 65mph. Same concept applies here. It sucks but that's the way it is.

The battery of this phone is poor, no doubt in that. However what I found is that my previous phone (which I had to RMA) lasted much longer than the current one. Around 1-1.5-2(barely)hr more SOT. Don't know how this could happen.
Yeah, 6P is not what I expected it to be.

Not saying you are wrong, but I feel like some say that about every phone. I will have to wait and see when mine gets here.
When the Note 5 came out there were so many people saying how terrible it was with battery life. Almost turned me away from getting it. Finally decided to take the plunge and guess what? It's pretty much the same as all the other phones I have had. The phone don't suck, our usage changes based on the device we have. I use my Note 5 more than I did my Note 4, battery still lasts me all day but needs to be charged about an hour after I get home. Note 4 made it until bedtime but I had a company phone to use all day.
I'm hoping the 6P can handle me all day. No pen to use so it should be fine.

I don't get why you're getting the 6P if you already have the Note 5. Like having two or more phones uh?
I got the 6P in place of the Note 5. I had a Note 4 before (it was defective I believe), it had terrible battery life (very rarely 4.5 to 5 hours SOT) and heats up to 75C very easily. Sure the 6P is cheaper, but I could've gotten the Note 5 if I wanted because this device is going to be there for at least 2 years. The thought of I can't bear anymore of TouchWiz was the only reason I got 6P. I thought the Note 5 would heat similarly and that 6P was better overall. But now I think I'm wrong, the Note 5 is a slightly better phone.
My 6P heats way too much (though not as much as my Note 4 did). Battery not upto expectation. Inconsistent camera (exposure problems). Throttling issues.

I actually don't mind touchwiz especially now that they have trimmed most of the fat and you can theme it now. Sad I'll miss out on AOSP/CM on it but I guess that's what the Nexus line is for. As far as the 6P being worse than the Note 5, I think it's based on usage patterns. The Note 5 has it's own slew of issues, radio especially for me, it does tend to heat up but not as bad as some other phones. Slippery as hell OMG!!! And that all glass thing is just absolutely nightmarish! It is still a fantastic device though and I will miss it greatly.
I'm getting it because of Project Fi. It will be cheaper for my wife and I compared to what we pay now for T-Mobile. We will be saving just over $60. That's date night once a month right there, Lol. I am actually getting rid of my Note 5, and unfortunately earlier today I dropped it on the road without a case on!!!!!!!!!!!:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
I cried....no shame there....my own damn fault too.

Maaan.. You could've just used a case! :
You do know that the 6P bends very easily without a case right (I got to know after I bought the device).
So you're getting the 6P as a replacement to your Note 5? I don't get why I see many people using the 6P after the Note 5. Is the 6P actually better?
Do let me know about your thoughts when you get your phone.
I've found that since a security patch update around February that my phones battery drops so much quicker. I used to be able to get 5 hours sot. I've seen a few people post on this issue and with it being a software issue I'm becoming extremely frustrated with android. I'm ashamed to say I'm considering selling the 6p and getting an Iphone

Hey. Bought mine on 08.31.2015, and totally agreed with your ******** and ******* I was getting the SOT about 7H{min 5.5H with heavy usage} it doesnt give a ******* after 760 charger connect count. sometimes I cant even see 4H..
Time to upgrade but to no regret; lets wait note 7 & note 7 edge or something has rumored like that.
Awesome, was getting almost a day and half with moderate to heavy use untilI updated to MM.. Now, when under heavy use battery drains much faster than when I was on LP.
Why is it this time with every Samsung phone I've had.... Everytime you upgrade your phone to the latest OS you loose a lot of battery performance. I loved the phone on Android 5.xx but now on 6.xx it's crap battery wise...
Mine is quite terrible and has gotten progressivly worst in the last two months. Tossing up New Phone, Custom Kernal or going back to 5.1.1 at this stage. Really disappointed.
