So I have a zenfone 5 and it's running 6.0 so I could restore my old rom data easily from setup wizard. But I saw that I could restore data from another very old device of mine. But google only lets you to restore from one device. Is there any possible way to restore from my other device as well? Like 2 devices at once or one device ar the setup wizard and one after the setup?

Now that I am getting more and more use to my Tytn, I am looking for a good backup app.
With Motorola there is Mobil Phone tools. You can go in and do a complete backup of all your phone data, contacts and such and even after a complete software wipe its a matter of 3 clicks and everything is put back. I am getting good with flashing roms and such so I end up taking a few days to get all my fav apps and such re-installed. I am not even sure how to force the phone to save new contacts to my sim card which would save some time, but I still am looking for a good backup program.
So, what do you use to backup and restore your phone data after a flash?
I used spb backup for most of my backups that were used for identical rom backup. Using the complete backup of one rom and then restoring to another rom is not really a good thing. As a matter of fact I've only had it work properly maybe 25% of the time from rom to diff rom.
The pim backup works really well. it's on vpg 3.62. works great.
A failsafe is NS Contacts Backup. it requires MS CF 2.0 though. it will work from rom to rom. It is free too. i think it's at nxybullsoftware.
Of course this is all assuming that you dont use outlook on your computer (I don't)
Just do a search for contact backup and you'll find lots of answers.
Yeah,
still using Spb Backup. It works properly without any problems as long as you restore to the same device / ROM.
If you want to restore PIM / mail data to another ROM / device: that works fine too but you cant restore application / system settings to another ROM. However, if you do not plan to flash your phone or switch it for another one: Spb Backup is a good bet!
Hello,
I am using the awesome WP7 ROM by HD2O (build 8107) for months now, and it's working great. However, I wanted to try running Android on it, but the thought of not liking it and not being able to go back to my previous setup, including apps, games and personal stuff, is driving me nuts.
I already found the Backup application that uses Zune to backup settings and apps, but according to the creator it doesn't work with the HD2, so I'm stuck.
Last question: In case there's no backup tool available for the HD2, will I still be able to reuse my activation code I got from Microsoft (and maybe see my previous downloaded apps and games) after trying Android?
Thanks.
if you make full backup this back phone to date when you make backup (not date from calendar then apps and others)... also this process not recommended if you want flash new, newer or ROM from other author
recommended is to make backup of apps (one backup for one app)... you can use WPDM for that (read my ROM Install Tutorial from signature)
i flashed maybe more than 100 times WP7 ROM-s on my HD2 and always used same Live activation code...
Thank you for answering both questions. After couple of hours trying to backup my settings using WPDM, I think I'm not wanting to go through the hassle to backup my apps (I just got them for free anyway).
I guess it's best to reinstall Windows Phone and my apps completely in case I don't like Android.
I am new to nexus 4 but not new to android .. with all my phones i experiment with different roms but everytime i change my rom i tack backup of all softwares and data manually and restore it againapp by app(very tedious process).. is there any way or software to do all the backup(call logs, sms, app+data ) and restore it automatically after changing the rom ...
please help
Yes there is. Titanium Backup allows you to back up to SD or cloud. You can backup all apks and data and restore in one go. It's not tedious but takes a little while... obviously.
The pro version of titanium backup allows one touch batch restores.
TLDR - rooted Samsung Galaxy S 2 android 2.3, I need apps' data backed up and restored on a non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S 5 android 4.4.2.
This is what I have tried so far:
I have Titanium on the older android, so its easy enough to back up everything that I want,
but since Titanium demands root and I have no desire to root my newer android (because I actually want to keep the warranty for a change)
I can not unpack my backups using Titanium on the newer device.
So I googled a little and found a great backup app called Helium (previously carbon) that can restore backups WITH DATA
on non-rooted devices with android 4 and higher. Looked perfect at first,
only catch is that it can only be installed on android 4 and higher, so it is useless for me for creating the backups on the first place on the older device.
Then I thought of combining Titanium and Helium this way:
I needed something that could restore Titanium backups (meaning having root)
and also being able to create Helium backups (meaning being android 4 and higher), so for this purpose
I added a new Android VM to my genymotion on my PC, it was a rooted android 4.4.
Then I successfully installed Helium on that VM, but when I tried to launch it I got the following popup message:
"Unfortunately, Helium has stopped."
Thought it was a bad rom, so I tried on newly created 4.3 and 4.1 but still got the same results.
Then I thought, these are my options:
1. Try a different android VM environment, maybe genymotion is too much under-developed for Helium (for example Helium needs usb communication to a 3rd party machine running a desktop application - I don't know if genymotion supports that virtual usb connection).
2. Try googling a different android backup app, that have both the Helium ability (restore backups WITH DATA on android 4 without root) and the Titanium ability (create backups on rooted android 2.3).
3. Research how to convert Titanium backup files to Helium format...
At this point, I felt like I have spent too much time and energy on this thing and for sure the solution exists and other people might know better then me.
So please, if you can help me, please do.
If your S2 is rooted, why not just flash to 4.1.2, restore from Titanium, and then create a backup with Helium? You can use Neat ROM.

Because some apps stop working properly or at all after I switch roms (worst case scenario I might attempt some sort of manual transfer of data)
I found a non-perfect solution which does not work very good so far (tried restoring a few apps, it failed installing them or the data restore did not restore any data)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.at.free
its not very good, but its the first one I have found which says it is able to restore data on non root and create backups on android 2.3.
I need something else.
Normally I'd use TWRP to create a full backup image but since I'm unrooted I'm not sure how to get this done.

Hi, if you have a Samsung and you don't have root, I don't recommend backing up via ADB because Google doesn't support this anymore, it's more recommended to use Google One or on a Samsung you can use this guide which should also help you.
Don't use SmartSwitch.
First redundantly back up all critical data to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
Hand load everything; copy/paste, verify size and if readable. Any apps like Poweramp or ColorNote that allow for backup import/export do so. Organize your critical data; have a plan.
If you have a SD card it is your data drive; all critical data goes here including installable copies of all your apps. A full restore should be able to be done with the data on the SD card.
A clean load can last for years if you don't muck with the firmware ie upgrades/updates. Think it through and do it right the first time. If you do it right it won't need to be done again for years... that's what Android is capable of.
you can't create a full backup as you can't access the needed devices... the only thing you can backup is your sdcard, data and probably efs with system shell exploit
