Hello, I'm still a noob so please pardon me, I was wondering, I'm planning to flash Ultra kernel to my MXP but I've got to have a backup plan in case of something went wrong. Yes, my MXP is still on its Original kernel.
So my question is what is MXP original kernel's name and any of you guys have the answer then may I trouble you to link me to the site that posted the Original kernel?
Thank you

I am expecting that you are rooted and have twrp installed. Make a backup through twrp. If you flash any other kernel, then just flashing the backup kernel won't make you phone all working as wifi would break down.
So, take a twrp backup and if something's wrong, then restore the whole backup or just system.

Yes, I'm already rooted and installed twrp, so restore my backup will eventually restore my original kernel?
in twrp while backing up you'll see a "boot" partition, that is your kernel.

So when I flash a new kernel, are all my data will be wiped? like it will automatically do a factory wipe?

I'm sorry if this has been asked, but I have looked and am not able to post in the developer thread yet. I've got everything up and running on my N7 with f2fs, but I'm curious now if I update my ROM do I have to go through all the steps again? Do I always need to format data at the end and lose everything? Should I be using titanium backup to solve this? Hopefully someone can help me out.

If everything is up and running on F2FS already, you can flash and restore titanium backups as normal. You just now have to make sure the ROM and/or kernel you're flashing supports F2FS or has been converted to support F2FS.

I am already on Carbon Rom All-F2FS, should I switch to another F2FS rom, what wipes are necessary? And should I format my tab again to all F2FS?

Just do a normal clean flash like you would if you were still on ext4. No need to reformat. That's how i switched to Carbon. As far as nightlies on Carbon (or others), just dirty flash them. I've had no problems doing that.
Hello
I recently rooted my LG G2 and installed Blisspop rom but i wish to go back to stock. Would this be possible to revert back to my stock backup or do i have to reinstall the firmware completely ?
Thanks any help is welcome
Any one can help me ?
Before installing a custom ROM, did you use TWRP to create a backup of the stock ROM? If you did, you could try restoring the stock backup from recovery.

i did indeed i backup up via TWRP but im getting confused cause i keep getting told different things like i need to have a different boot loader etc
The only thing i did was flash the ROM i didn't flash any modem or boot loader to my knowledge
Restoring the TWRP backup should leave the bootloader and modem alone.

You may have to wipe the cache and data, especially if you are going from lollipop to kit Kat or vice versa.

Try flashing stock boot image back to device first. Then do a factory wipe and then try the restore.

Look in heisenburgs guide about restoring. The steps to flash the factory images is the same. Just do the boot.img
I think i solved the issue, thank you for the help, I appreciate it a lot
I managed to get my backup restored.. But it gives me a google services force close.. Whyyyy
Wipe your cache and dalvik cache. It should clear up the issue.

Stick to S7
Also do not forget to make a backup in TWRP might save you a lot of hassle if one flash goes wrong

it is not reccomended to do this (its called a dirty flash) you can choose to do this anyway when installing a custom ROM most of them come with an option in the AROMA installer letting you do a fresh wipe or "dirty flash" it will just install the ROM over your current leaving your settings/apps there. Or if there is no AROMA installer with the rom just dont do a wipe before you install. no need to restore using a backup
dirty flash should be fine if you are upgrading ROMS to a later version but you should always check the thread if that is okay. you may run into problems if its a huge update.

heres some info on EFS > http://www.naldotech.com/galaxy-s7-s7-edge-backup-restore-efs-imei-partition/
recovery is TWRP itself
system is the ROM
Data is your apps etc..
a standard backup is already seleted in TWRP which is
Boot / System / Data
you may as well backup EFS as well its only a few Kb

A bundle of thanks mate. Thumbs up
It has been months since op5 come out, and the problem is that when restoring data partition from backups will lead to bootloop on OOS.
Has there been any fix on that?(official or non-official)
p.s. I have searched before, none of the recovery works for stock OOS, due to forced file encryption on OOS.

Not just problems with OOS, custom ROM's give bootloop too
When you do a backup, you have to also backup the system image partition. That will make your backup around 8-10gb in size but then you can restore your data partition and not get a bootloop. I am on TWRP 3.1.1-1 cheeseburger TWRP. Make sure you're at least on that or the k2 version which I'm updating to soon.

Does this apply to OxygenOS too or just custom ROMs?

I restore data on custom ROMs without issue when using K2 (with or without backing up the system partition). Not sure about OOS since I haven't used it in a very long time. I've been using RR-Official successfully for a few months.

I've personally try to backup and restore stock oos with the k3 version, ended up with a boot loop. Never tried k2 though, to scared to try again.

Yes, it's works. But k2 apparently doesn't need the system image for data restore so your backups will be smaller and faster obviously.
Also, I'm on stock oos with stock kernel 4.5.10

So it means k2 can perform restore on stock oos, gonna try again when I get home.
Did you decrypt your device, or remove screen lock on the device before backup? Or anything I should do before backup? Thanks.

I ALWAYS remove screen locks and fingerprints before a backup. I also never decrypt my phone's, not worth it in my opinion.
Im curious if anyone has tried this to flash in TWRP to remove password and pin.
