Enable onscreen navigation on CM13 - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I am on Latest CM13, my home button stopped working. I need to enable onscreen navigation buttons. Please guide me how to do it. I tried settings > buttons, but there is no option for onscreen buttons. If anything i need to flash to enable it, please provide me link for it.
Regards,
Nilesh

What you're saying, it's that you're using Seraphs latest unofficial build of CM13 and with on screen buttons options not working/showing up. This seems to be a reoccurring error on Seraphs builds, I'm always running Graraks builds and the option for on screen buttons has always been there at the top of Buttons menu. Try make a backup in twrp and then wipe system, data and cache and reinstall CM13 and Gapps (aka clean flash).

I cleaned installed CM13 by Seraph, still no luck.. should i try with Graraks builds? Can anyone provide latest link for ROM?

Use the Google Luk.... I mean Niles ? Search for Will Ye @Grarak twitter and you will be on your path of the force.
With that said, I'm no spoon feeder, that would not be real help and feed the laziness of mankind.

[Q] No start up wizard at all after installing latest cm11 nightly

Hi there,
Tonight I installed the latest Nightly of CM11 and I get no start up wizard. This is different from the usual error that people recieve. It won't let me log in my Google account and I can't access the main menu and any apps. I can still access the usual setting menu and lock screen default apps. Have searched hard to find details on what to do with this problem but found nothing. Hence why I am posting this.
Any help? Is this news to you Quarx?
Thanks

Have you done wipe (factory reset) before flashing new nightly?
You have to flash the rom, boot, then reboot, flash the gapps and thats it.
So:
1.flash cm11blabla.zip
2.turn on the phone
3.reboot and go to recovery
4.flash gapps
5.Phone ready to use

CM13- Can't have background apps

I have CM13 official running on my OP2; installed about a week ago with a clean install.
Have noticed that I never have any background tasks when I use task switcher, just the message saying "your recent screens are shown here"
I have avast running purely AV. No task killer app.
Can't work it out
Have I missed a setting somewhere.
Couldn't find a similar problem on the CM13 thread
Thanks in advance
Chris
Had a bite more of a play
Doesn't appear that exited apps take any longer to load than normal which makes me suspect a simple recent apps screen failure, unless anyone has any more suggestions
Make sure that background process limit in developer options is set to 'standard limit', and try to wipe your cache and dalvik in recovery. If it still doesn't work, try a clean flash. Btw, what's your nightly version?

Thanks. Tried to wipe above.
Flashed to latest version, problem disappeared, must have been a bad flash
Thanks again

Google Keyboard (Gboard) Disappears

I'm not sure what happened, but my Google Keyboard seems to have disappeared. Google Keyboard is not showing as an option under "Keyboard & input methods". I have Flesky and Swiftkey, so I'm getting by, but I don't know how to get it working. Gboard shows under Apps, and I've tried clearing cache, clearing data, force stop, and uninstall/reinstall, but it still doesn't appear as an option to use as a keyboard. How can I rectify this? Thanks in advance to anyone who has a solution.

Google keyboard is replaced by Gboard but I think you already knew that. Also if you are on a custom ROM flash Gapps again. Gboard will appear on input options. If not maybe you have factory reset or wait for the app to be updated again .
PS did you reboot after clearing cache?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not rooted and therefore don't have a custom ROM, just the one that came with the device, so therefore I can't really flash anything. I went into recovery mode and did a cache wipe there, which, of course, requires reboot, to no avail. I'll wait to see if an update comes out soon and will live with 3rd party keyboards in the meantime. For what it's worth, I've included screen shots showing that Gboard is showing as an app but is not showing as an available keyboard. When I click "Current Keyboard", my only options are Flesky and Swiftkey.
The reply is appreciated.

Sorry to hear. If you do manage to get it fixed please reply to this thread. Thanks. I am on 7.0 and Gboard is running fine.

Update: I finally got Gboard back. I tried a number of things, including a manual download and install of the apk. I decided to try Slash keyboard, and, when I installed it, I was taken to the screen to enable it, and, voila', Gboard shows up with an enable option. I don't know what happened, but it's working now.

Actually, in your second screenshot, if you tap on "Current Keyboard" there will be a button to choose keyboard. If you press that, it will bring you to the screen where you can enable/disable keyboards. That's probably why Gboard was hidden.

Yep. Not intuitive to me, but you're correct. I thought "Current Keyboard" was just a prompt to select one from the pop-up window. Often the answers are simple if you know where to look. Thanks! :good:

No worries! They changed the menu structure in Nougat so it's more intuitive now.
Probably off topic but does anyone else not like the update they did to the keyboard? No way to remove that search menu row? I have never used the suggestions and wished I could remove it.

Go to input > virtual > Gboard > settings > search and disable it.
It removes the search G but still keeps the row there. See attachment.

Yeah that's true. I can't find an option to disable that. Maybe it's not possible in this update.
I am sort of in the same boat
Hey everyone.
Lastnight I installed, an android 7.0 custom rom to my tab pro 10.1. I used TWRP to flash install the ROM when it installed it automatically rebooted my device before I could go on to Gapps and install them with the the ROM. So when the ROM loaded up I connected to my hub (using the keyboards) then had a look at the new OS and the wife had a look out of interest with me and everything was working well in fact it was quicker than it was when we got it brand new.
Then playtime over rebooted back into TWRP and flashed Gapps. Then it rebooted again. When it finally loaded back in I was met with a loading screen saying Android is Starting which wouldn't go away but it asked me to sign back on to the Hub so went to do this on problem was.....no Keyboard.....so I managed to get into my setting through quick menu settings and find input settings and there is no keyboard installed to the device...it asked me to add one but I can't because I can't type and even if I could the android is starting message is still going.
Please help I am new to this and I want to learn all this type of thing but I am completely puzzled on what to do. I tried clear chase and data and even tried factory reset.....tried installing gapps on twice (before the factory reset) and nothing was working.
I am tough to use odin to flash it back to standard rom and start again but I could do with some pointers with what i have done wrong.
Thanks people

You may wish to ask over in the Galaxy Tab Pro forums at https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-pro-12-10-8 - you've somehow wandered into the Moto G4 forums
But as a very general suggestion - sounds like your GApps isn't happy with your custom ROM. You may have to clean flash your custom ROM again and verify that the GApps you're flashing is suitable for your device/custom ROM.
I agree with you I have just download the same rom and a stock gapps and I had the same message and again with no keyboard.....agian. Difference this time I haven't rushed to do a factory reset and gone back and reflashed the android 7.0 rom and I am back working again with keyboard but no google apps.
Is there a way of installing them a different way, only 2 google apps I use is play store and gmail. I have tried installing a google play store and play services apk but doesn't work. It goes to load and then just stops.....feels like I need a list of apps to get them going.
Hope someone can help
I worked out my problem with Gapps, "android is starting messages" and no keyboard.
1. I needed to wipe my cache, data and davarlik (whatever it says....looks like darlik to me...lol) before and after.
2. Like fella before said my ROM didn't like the Gapps package I had downloaded, so everytime I had the android message I went back on to TWRP and restored back to the orginal point where the lineage ROM worked, then went back on to the net and installed the next Gapps package and repeated till I found a package that worked......that package was the "Micro" package.
Any google apps I was missing I simply just downloaded them via the playstore after.
I realise this is a moto G forum but I find that sometimes you need to go other places to find answers and I had originally looked in the samsung Tab Pro 10.1 forum section and couldn't find anything similar to my problem this fella at the beginning of the thread was the closest to my problem I could fine.
Hope this helps

If you want to use partial OTAs, you must first flash the full OxygenOS zip that it applies to, and then flash the partial OTA from stock recovery. Flashing partial OTAs from TWRP will either fail or soft brick your device. You can return to a usable state by flashing a full zip in recovery.
FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Download the necessary files from the section above and follow the steps below:
Note: Dirty flashing is fine if you are running an old OxygenOS version or a ROM based on OxygenOS. If you are, however, coming from a Custom ROM, you must clean flash.
For Non-Rooted Users with a Locked Bootloader and Stock Recovery:
Download the full zip/incremental OTA from the downloads section above and place it in the root of your internal memory
Reboot to stock recovery > Shutdown device > Press Volume Down + Power buttons together
Select language > Install menu > Install from internal > Select the full zip > Flash
After a successful flash > Wipe cache
Reboot
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.
[Dirty Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery coming from H2OS/OOS:
Download the full ROM zip from the downloads section above
Transfer the zip to the root of your device's internal storage
Only needed if you are using a TWRP that does not ignore the compatibility.zip check: Remove the compatibility.zip from the downloaded full ROM zip with either MiXplorer or Total Commander (not with any other tool!) on your device itself
Reboot to TWRP and take a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
Flash Magisk Uninstaller (recommended)
From the TWRP menu, Wipe > Advanced wipe > Select dalvik-cache and cache > Swipe to wipe
From the TWRP menu, Install > Select full ROM zip > Swipe to flash
Flash the latest stable Magisk in case you want to root
From the TWRP menu, Wipe > Advanced wipe > Select dalvik-cache and cache > Swipe to wipe
If you were decrypted earlier, flash xXx No Verity 4.0.zip from here
Reboot
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.
Warning: Dirty flashing (update) can be risky! Remember that if you face issues after dirty flashing, you will have to clean flash.
[Clean Flash] For Users with an Unlocked Bootloader and TWRP Recovery:
Download the full ROM zip from the downloads section above
Transfer the zip to the root of your device's internal storage
Only needed if you are using a TWRP that does not ignore the compatibility.zip check: Remove the compatibility.zip from the downloaded full ROM zip with either MiXplorer or Total Commander (not with any other tool!) on your device itself
Reboot to TWRP and take a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
Flash Magisk Uninstaller (recommended)
From the TWRP menu, Wipe > Advanced wipe > Select dalvik-cache, cache, system, vendor and data> Swipe to wipe
From the TWRP menu, Install > Select full ROM zip (modified one with compatibility.zip removed, in case you're on Oreo or unmodified one, in case you're on Pie) > Swipe to flash
Flash the latest stable Magisk in case you want to root
From the TWRP menu, Wipe > Advanced wipe > Select dalvik-cache and cache > Swipe to wipe
Optional: If you wish to decrypt, format data via TWRP (please note that wiping the data partition, which we did in the 5th step above, is not the same as formatting it) and after that flash xXx No Verity 4.0.zip from here
Reboot
Note: First boot may take some time, so please be patient and wait for it to boot.
Never Settle.

Probably it will be released in 2 weeks but i dont expect it in the channel of open beta.
Some FAQ's on Android Pie Release
Q. Why is my brightness low after upgrading to Android Pie 9.0?
A: Google introduced new algorithm for the brightness which will give more control to the user specially in darker environments. The user have to train the brightness preferences for some time in different lighting conditions they use their device so that the device learns it and then adjusts the brightness automatically after that.
More here: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/behind-the-scenes-how-we-adapted-to-android-pie.909531/
Q. Where is clear Cache in Android Pie?
A: Cache partition no longer is available on Pie. So there is no option for clearing it. One has to clear cache by individual app now.
https://www.howtogeek.com/356365/why-android-no-longer-needs-a-cache-partition/
Cache's Explained Here:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/caches-explained.828298/
Q. Why is there no Digital Well-Being available in OnePlus device running Pie?
A: Digital Wellbeing is currently available only to Pixel devices and Nokia 7 Plus. This may change in near future and OnePlus may be added to its supported device list.
Q.Why is "X" app crashing in my phone running Android Pie?
A: Many apps are still not updated to support Android Pie, that is the reason they are not able to run in the new OS. Contacting the app developer will be much more helpful.
Q. I downgraded to stable channel, but did not receive the update to Pie, why?
A: The wide-rollout has begun, its only matter of time, you will get the notification for the new update.
Q. Why is my battery draining so fast after update?
A: This is a major upgrade, you should give it some time to settle before the battery starts working normally. Also battery calibration is always a good way to get most out of it.
Q. I do not like the new Recents layout, what can i do?
A: Unfortunately, nothing can be done about it. Its how Google designed it.
Q. I cannot activate the new Pill gestures, why?
A: Sometimes update messes up app data and settings. To solve this clear OnePlus Launcher data and reboot the device.
Q. My Play Store is showing "uncertified" after i downgraded to stable, how can i solve it?
A: Clear Google Play Services data and Play store data and Reboot. Let Play store update automatically and it should change the status to Certified.
Q. Why cannot i use volume buttons to control the ringtone volume in Android Pie?
A. Google has made change to it, now we can change media volume by default. OnePlus has provided a shortcut to directly go into settings to make it easier to change the ringtone volume.
Q. Why my Fingerprint does not work, after my phone is in standby for long time?
A: The Fingerprint service goes to sleep and thus doesn't allow unlocking the phone.
To avoid this, the current work-around it to turn Off Standby Optimization in Advanced Optimization Battery Settings or wake up the phone using Power button after long standby.
Q. Why does not my screen light-up on incoming calls?
A: This happens when the Phone app settings is messed up.
To solve this:
Touch and hold on Phone app and Tap on App Info.
Now tap on Notifications and then tap on Incoming Calls(Not the Checkbox).
Select Behavior and make sure its set to Make Sound and Popup on Screen
This should allow the incoming calls to notify you lighting up the screen.
Q. My clock shows alarm notification 2-hrs prior to actual alarm/ my alarm is missing, what can i do?
A: You can follow the steps below to fix it:
Go to Settings>Apps & notifications>Display all apps>Clock>Notifications.
Now, there are 2 things to do :
a) Press on "Clock" (Not the Checkbox)>Behaviour
Choose "Silent display" : this way you won't have the sound notification 2 hours before schedule
b) Press on "Alarm" (Not the Checkbox)>Behaviour
Choose "Sound alert and display on screen" : If you choose another option, the screen won't turn on when the alarm rings. And you also want to set the sound alert to none. Otherwise, when the alarm rings, you'll also hear the notification sound.
Q. Why is my slow-mo videos stuttering?
A: It seems to be a known bug currently. Developers are aware of the bug and are working on it. The fix could be released in future update.
Please go through this Q&A before making any bug reports and attach the logs with the reports.
Thank you :good:

Almost shure that if you have the phone stock you can make a manual update through the ONEPLUS update app just by downloading the full zip to internal memory without data loss

Won't be an OTA you need to manually flash it by downloading the full zip. Both stock recovery or twrp can be used for it. I will update the instructions once the build is out along with the changelog
Please keep in mind that this is beta software. These builds are sometime NOT as stable as our official OTAs generally are. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks of data loss.
Once you migrate to the Beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs. You will NO LONGER receive the regular Official Stable OTAs.
Reverting back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a full install and clean flash (FULL WIPE of all data and cache).

( Unlocked boot loader having TWRP 3.2.1.0 old versions won't work for 8.1)
[GUIDE] (Please Read from point 5 onward with concentration)
1: Download ROM and Unofficial 8.1 Gapps nano or as your taste from below links
2: Open TWRP and prepare all internal storage backup and your NANDROID backup.
3: Open Wipe, Advance Wipe and Change file system and Format Data, system, Cache with ext4
This will erase all your data (If you are already at ext4 then no need to wipe with ext4)
4: Now in TWRP connect device with PC or have a OTG USB with files and copy files in internal storage i.e. ROM zip and gapps zip
5: Now flash ROM zip and reboot system and setup everything
6: You will see some Chinese apps, You can remove them by Root uninstaller, this ROM is rooted by default.
7: Go to setting, developer options and click advance reboot.
8: Now reboot to Recovery and go to gapps and flash then reboot. (You must have latest gapps from opengapps.org or you will need to update play services manually)
Here you done.
If any issue please ask me at G+ anytime

Data network not working
I changed from Mokee to this ROM and below are the issues
1. No data connectivity. Only WiFi is working. I changed all the modes - LTE, WCDMA, GSM etc. - but nothing worked. And now no matter which ROM I flash, this issue persists
2. I used stock gapps 8.1 as mentioned but still it is not giving any google input keyboard
3. Google play services issue keeps popping up, even though I flashed latest gapps
4. Music app keeps stopping and giving error
Any inputs on how to fix the data connectivity issue?
