Galaxy S4 won't turn on? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a Galaxy S4 off a friend for cheap, he told me the charger port was ruined. After pressing the power button the Galaxy S4 logo flashed on screen and it turned back off. I got home and put it on charge and it started charging with the LEDs and everything, this time reaching the Samsung logo, and then turning off. I held power and volume up, and it went into "Odin mode" and asked me to press up to continue, which I did. It said "downloading, do not turn off" so I didn't, I left it there. After a while I checked and it was completely off, no charging no logo, nothing. Every now and then I hold the power button and it vibrates once but nothing else, any idea what went wrong and how I can fix it?

You should first start by trying out a different battery.

N7 Won't turn on or charge

So the other morning I wake up. I grab my tablet off the charger, click the lock button, and notice it was off. I figured it must have crashed overnight. I hold down the power button, and it doesn't turn on. I try again this time holding it down longer. It then turns on, but as soon as the lock screen shows up, the screen freezes and I can not do anything. I hold the power button down for an extended period of time, but it turns off and wont reboot no matter what. It wont charge (I assume), it isn't recognizable by my PC, and it won't turn on. I have no clue what happened. This happened randomly. I doubt it matters, but I'm running a CM11 based ROM (I think? Haven't changed it in a while, can't remember) and I have no clue what Kernel. I also noticed that the power button doesn't click as "nicely" (can't think of another word) as the vol. up and vol. down buttons. Could the power button be stuck? Any help or will I have to return it to my warrantor and start over? Thanks in advance.

[Q] Trouble turning on - need help desperately :)

Hi guys. So this is my situation; my phone is currently turned off.
If I hold the power button, the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo appears in with the black background, then disappears and the phone turns off after 1~2 seconds.
If I hold the power, volume down button then I get the custom OS screen. If I then choose to restart from this screen, the phone restarts and the Galaxy Logo shows for around 6-8 seconds then disappears again.
If I go to the custom OS screen again, then press restart, I can then hold the volume up button and the lock button and the blue message saying 'Recovery Booting..' along with the same black Galaxy logo then the screen disappears after 1-2 seconds seemingly turning off, then it vibrates once after a couple more seconds then does nothing again
I can not get the recovery booting screen from simply holding Volume up and the power button, I need to do it after restarting through the custom OS screen.
My phone is also suddenly not recognising the charger being plugged in. There is no observed difference between attempts to turn it on with/without the charger plugged in.
The last time the phone was properly turned on, it switched itself off at around 4-6% battery left and from then on I have this result.
So, can you guys help?
Your power button is probably faulty. Try to wiggle it lose or replace it.

Galaxy s4 turn off with a slight touch of power button

My phone will a shut off with a slight touch of the power button. A gentle touch of the power button would bring up the shut off, restore, airplane mode option then would turn off the phone. when it shuts off on it own, when trying to turn on the phone the "samsung galaxy s4" logo show but then it shuts off again. i replace the battery already so i narrow it down the power button. please help this is super annoying.

power button is broken

S4 keeps turning off after a few seconds

hey!
I own a Samsung Galaxy S4. Since today I cant boot the phone up anymore!!!
while watching youtube videos it sudddenly was dead, I didn`t even drop it. turning on again with the power button doesnt work, advanced boot with power button + other button doesnt work as well. only if I reinsert the battery the phone vibrates and it turns on for about 2-3 seconds, the samsun bootloader logo appears and its dead again. I have already replaced the battery with a working one, doesnt work. I removed the sd and simcard but that did not help.
Sounds a lot like a power button problem.
The exact problem is that the button is stuck or shorted, which causes the circuit to be constantly closed. In other words, it's always "pressed".

my screen turns off when disconected from the charger

i left my phone charging with a game playing, and when i came back the message saying the phone was going to turn down to stop the heat was showing in screen.
now when i turn on the screen it takes 1 second to turns off by itself and start overheating below the samsung logo(in the front, below the earpiece).
i can fix it or have to replace something?
Could try booting in safe mode. That should rule out any hardware issues.
Instructions from Google:
Turn the device off.Press and hold the Power key past the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge screen.
When "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen, release the Power key.
Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
Leave in this mode for a while. Maybe uninstall the game while your in safe mode.
I had a similar issue I solved this way.
