I have fast charging enabled. I forgot to charge my phone last night and put it on the adaptive fast charger this morning at 0809. It was at 3% when it started. It's 0958, and it's at 22%. The phone has been power on during this time, but it should be faster than this. The setting for fast charging is checked.
Is there an indicator letting you know fast charging is engaged? I thought he gave a notification when fast charging is on. I know it worked once, and I saw one.
That strange
It only take 30 mins to charge 50 percent
Make sure you turn off all service and turn on power saving or shut down your phone
When I plug my note 4 in to charge a notification shows saying fast charge mode enabled (or something along those lines)
And it appears to charge really quick, I can't be exact on time, but my fine was down to 15% last night before I put it on charge, must have been about 15 mins and it was about 35%
Once I think it charged 20% to full in about 50 mins

That's what I thought. I thought I was imagining things when it didn't appear or maybe it only appears upon first use. I even thought maybe using Nova was some how suppressing the message.
Given you response, I thought maybe there is something wrong with the power in the computer room, so I took it to the kitchen. Then, the status message showed saying fast charging is on. Weird. So, I went back to the computer room and plugged it in. Now the message is starting to appear.
I guess the adapter glitched and was stuck in lower power mode. Not sure. Any way. Thanks for confirming the status message. It seems to be working now.
While my charger seems to work fine. I have noticed it wont pull more than 1000 ma at any given time. I was under the impression that when my battery is below 50% i should see fast charging at a rate over 1000 ma? I get 1000 ma off any decent tablet type charger, including over 50%. Yes fast charging is enabled and detected when the phone is connected to the fast charger.
Anyone else seeing this? Using "Galaxy Charging Rate lite" from the app store. Is there a better app that you guys like?
UPDATE: on a 2A 5v charger I will pull down average 1800ma when the screen is off, then it drops down as the screen is off. So, more testing is needed on the fast charger, I think I need a application that will log the ma draw at intervals to see what it pulls during "fast charge mode" with battery < 50% on the samsung charger.
Fast charging mode only works with screen off!
Charging at 9 Volt and around 1000ma
With screen on the fast charging mode goes off an charging goes to normal mode at 5 Volt and up to 1800ma.

I'm sure I read somewhere on XDA it also only works from 0 - 50%.
Going from my own experience, when I plug it in, I definitely see the "fast charging enabled" message appear in my notification bar.
However it's anything but fast. Mine has never charged faster than average speed that I have noticed, but then I rarely dip below 50% if I can help it, so that might be why.
Last night I put it on charge at 1am (at 59%), came back at 01:48 and it was on %93. Is that good? You tell me. It doesn't seem it. Perhaps my expectations are too high.
One thing I was always curious about is would it matter if you use an extension lead as opposed to plugging it directly into the mains. Not sure how much voltage it is able to draw though an extersion lead, but as must of them are supposed to be up to 240 volts, I'm guessing that wouldn't make a difference.

Are you sure, I go from 5% to full in around 80 minutes with device on, is yours faster switched off?
On my Verizon Note 4 phone running Android 5.0.1, if I go to settings/battery, there is a setting for Fast Charging which you can enable if it is not already. Just below that, there is a status message that when the phone is plugged in will tell you what kind of charging you are doing. I just plugged it in with an Adaptive Charging unit and the status said "97% Adaptive Charging" indicating my phone was 97% charged and was charging using the adaptive (fast) charging. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in with a non-adaptive charger, the status changed to say "97% - Charging (AC)" indicating it was charging but not "fast" charging.

If your USB adapter is plugged into an AC outlet or a long AC extension cord that is plugged into the AC outlet it makes no difference. However if you were talking about a USB extension that plugs into the adapter and extend the length of the DC USB cord that will make a major difference.
Hi,
So I bought the Samsung Wireless charger stand (say fast charging) http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product...ging-stand-black-ep-ng930bbugca/10418050.aspx because it was on promo. I try with 2 device, and it never say Wireless Fast Charging.
If i just use the USB cable and plug to my phone, it say fast charging.
I already replace 1 in store, so i though it was the wireless charger the issue, but the second one, does the same.
Also the time remaining stay the same if I use the USB cable or the Wireless charger.
So my question is, am I suppose to see Wireless Fast charging ?
It is setup to ON in the Battery setting.
I try both S6 and S7 Edge.
Thanks!
yeah I was at a best buy yesterday and saw it for the first time. When I tried it out it also did not fast charge. My fast charger at home though needs the phone to be placed in a certain position for it to catch for fast charging. Its a little cumber sum but I got it down pat right now
U may have to manually turn it on. Mine turned on on its own. U can toggle on/off in battery section same place as the regular fast charge option. Either that or that wireless charger was not really "fast".
Mine does that on occasion and I have to lift the phone up and place it on the pad again in a slightly different position and then it says fast charging wirelessly. Be sure you have a quick charge power cord plugged into the pad

Hey guys, I have a galaxy s7 on Verizon that was working fine with no issues until about a week ago. I use a Samsung wireless fast charging pad by my bed for charging overnight. The last week I have an issue where I set the phone on the pad, the phone says wireless fast charging connected, the pad lights up blue and charging begins like normal. The issue is when I wake up in morning the pad is lit up green as if it reached 100% charge, but the phone isn't charging and the battery has been between 40-90% depending on where it was when I went to bed. Wireless fast charging is enabled in settings, I have rebooted the phone, not sure what is going on. I don't think anything changed, I can't remember an event where this started, just one morning it wasn't full any more and has been doing it every night now

Try turning off the wireless fast charging. Go into settings>battery and turn off "Wireless Fast Charging." You won't need this anyway due to the fact that you're charging overnight. Obviously you'll charge slower, but the charging will be more stable. I had the same problem a while back.

I have had this problem randomly using a regular "slow" wireless charger, too, so it isn't that. I also had it happen on my S6 a few times, too. I've had it on a Samsung wireless charger and a "Verizon" wireless charger as well.
I read on another site where someone said reset all app preferences/permissions, that seems to have fixed it, not sure why and it sucks approving everything again, but at least my phone is charged in the morning and I don't have to wake up and check it 30 times a night

Mine doesn't do it consistently and neither did my s6, just sometimes it isn't changed all the way to 100 when I wake up.
I am on superstock rom v2.5. Suddenly my fast charging stopped working. It charges on full speed for few minutes, but suddenly gets slow a lot like it is just charging normally though it says fast charger connected.
The other thing i see is that, when it slows down the charging, the estimated charging time also vanishes. It just says charging but does not show the estimated time anymore.
Tried different cable as well as charger but didn't helped. The same charger is working fine on my A5(6).
Hi guys I'm not sure it's supposed to be like this... i turned on fast cable charging, then I put it on charge, and even if in the scroll down menu it says fast charging, if i go into the details of the battery the option "fast cable charging" is set to on but greyed out... but if i unplug the cable it turns on. It's just greyed while charging... is it supposed to be like this? Thanks.
When you plug the phone in to charge it will always grey out the option so you can't turn it on or off.
The only way to change the option is to unplug the phone and then set to whether you want to it charge fast or slowly.
Personally I always have fast charge off because it seems to me like the phone battery lasts longer.
Out of curiosity... from 5% how long does it usually take for you guys to charge to 100% with fast charging and slow one? thanks!
It normally takes myself about hour and half to two hours mattering on how much I use phone while fast charging.
Around 2 hours ish with non fast charge.
