I am getting can't mount /data when I go to wipe in TWRP. I at first just did TWRP and loaded SU. It seemed to work but then I noticed this problem. I then did a cf root and reloaded TWRP but still have the problem. Nothing reset /data. Is there a fix for this. I have everything backed up so if I have to clear everything that's OK.

I was running CM10.1, I was switching to Google Rom, wiped data/ factory restore, flashed zip, but forgot to flash Loki.
Went back, tried to flash loki, but it comes out as failed. looking through logs, I get
E:Unable to mount /data
E:Unable to mount Internal Storage.
I tried to do wipe of system, data, cache, and nothing wipes.
When I was rebooting 2nd time, I got a prompt to install Root as I was not rooted, but I did root weeks ago, when I went to CM.
Any help/ advise/ suggestions are welcome.
I would really rather not ODIN to stock, but will if I have to, is there a way to snatch internalSD files before the flash?

If you can't boot into system, and TWRP will not restore your Nandroid I think ODIN to stock is inevitable. It really doesn't take too long. ODIN stock, re-root, install TWRP/CWM and restore your backup or flash Google Rom and LOKI this time.

Thank you, from what I read, ODIN does not wipe our internalSD, is that correct or am I misreading it?
Hello. I tried doing the 5.0 update to my tablet using the factory images. It failed on sending /system and now the whole tablet isn't working. I loaded Philz, to wipe the whole tablet, and it errors mounting /data and /system when attempting to wipe. I have tried wiping everything in every way, and nothing. I cannot get anything to flash on the tablet. Any help?

Ya man, its the same with me . Hope someone, reply's with a solution for it.
Maybe try with latrst version of twrp instead of Philz.
Flash TWRP
Wipe
Advanced wipe
Select system
Repair or change file system
Repair
Let it do its thing, then flash your ROM.
Send your thanks to @Paramesh96. He gave me this advice on my thread. Still haven't been able to flash factory images. But I can get my tablet up & running again with this guide
I could do this, but I have no way of moving a zip file to the tablet.

I flashed TWRP, went through the process, rebooted to bootloader, reflashed TWRP, reboot to recovery & mtp was enabled to access the sdcard
Hello everyone,
I am running 3.0.2-2 on the SM-G935FD and for whatever reason TWRP won't wipe the encryption, thus I cant read the internal SD card. I am getting the " /data mount" error.
I have done the advanced wipe and cleared everything except the external SD, am I using the wrong TWRP? any ideas?
You must wipe data! Wipe it all internal storage!

I had same issue on G935F. Try advanced and format data in twrp. The option where you have to type yes. If not then flash stock recovery, factory reset and boot into download and flash twrp before booting into system to flash dm-verity zip.

...have you tried cursing/threatening/random acts of violence on inanimate objects? no? well BEFORE you do, advance wipe, wipe system/data/etc, reboot, or there are ways to reformat as ExFat with a PC too.
Something recently broke Twrp so now I cant touch my /data partition, ive read that I need to format my phone to fix this issue, the problem is that a recent update from Lineage OS is what broke it I believe, and I updated from within LOS (check for new updates download and install) which auto restarted, so when I went to go back into TWRP to reflash Magisk I started getting the issue
So now I have no root, and no twrp abilities that I know off, which means I cant use a decent backup program
can anyone help?
EDIT: I don't know if they has any relevance but ADB does have root permissions,
EDIT 2: I found out that I can reinstall magisk VIA ADB Sideload from within TWRP, as such I now have root again
@foxtrotdragon: If you can get into TWRP then reflashing Magisk shouldn't be a problem. However, if /data is encrypted then Magisk may not flash, it needs to be able to place some files there. You'll lose everything on internal storage, but formatting /data is the only way forward.
If you can't boot into TWRP then the obvious solution is to reflash recovery from a PC.

Getting into twrp is no issue, the issue is that TWRP cannot read the internal storage, it can read external fine, but fails to read internal storage, which means i cant flash anything, an reflashing twrp does nothing
im fine with reformatting the phone, but i need to backup my stuff first, which i can not do since no root
@foxtrotdragon: Unfortunately for you, backing up the contents of your internal storage is no longer possible, unless you can think of some ingenius method to decrypt without formatting. Formatting /data is your only option. In the future, you should make backups *BEFORE* disaster strikes.
So I finally unbricked and booted the stock rom. Now im trying to reroot the thing.
When I go to format/unencrypt in TWRP I get ERROR 255 -t 0 /dev/block/mmcblk0p54
Is my data partition permanently corrupted? I know that partition exists inside /data.
I've already tried to manually format /data, repairing it, changing it from f2fs to ext4 and back. All failed.
I'm have a similar problem. I cannot mount anything thru twrp. System, data, cache, can't do a wipe all fail. I've tried changing file system the back but it fails. I was able to mount my sdcard and start the recovery but.... its. Been "working" for and hour with no process increase. I'm wondering if I can force a fix partition thru adb sideload. Or... how can I decrypt it. Also the internal storage registers as 0 out of 0, same as /data
