ok, it is just a idea
it looks like many people do have the problem that for some reason their phone stops booting at htc screen...
i´m thinking about writing something like a guide (wip) what are the things you could try to get the phone working again (only basic stuff and links, i´m not a dev) - so if anybody got an idea what i should add pls post it
how to check your emmc chip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13895268&;postcount=48
if one step works stop and don´t go further...
1. post: stock phone (no root)
2. post: rooted phone
3. post: rooted phone & eng hboot
STOCK PHONE - NO ROOT (bootloader shows: hboot: ??? & S-ON):
1. pull the battery and try it again
2. turn your phone in usb fastboot mode (power & tp) connect it to pc; on pc go to platform tools and type fastboot devices (your device should show up) then type fastboot oem boot
3. wipe cache or do a factory reset (= push power & volume down to enter bootloader; select recovery = a red triangle will appear then push power & volume up to enter recovery menu)
3.a. wipe cache = none of your apps are lost
3.b. factory reset = you will loose your apps & sms & so on... but you won´t loose your sdcard content
reboot
4. use a ruu (it´s .exe to start from windows pc) and try to update (install htc sync):
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision ...for example
5. if point 3 didn´t work, extract the PC10IMG.zip put it on your sdcard (not in a folder) enter bootloader and start the update (more details will follow)
6. hope for warranty
PHONE ROOTED (bootloader shows: hboot ??? & S-OFF):
1. if you enabled usb debugging before, start adb and type adb devices, if your device shows up type adb reboot bootloader (if it worked next step = 4)
2. pull the battery and try it again
3. turn your phone in usb fastboot mode (power & tp) connect it to pc; on pc go to platform tools and type fastboot devices (your device should show up) then type fastboot oem boot
4. wipe cache or do a factory reset (power & volume down to enter bootloader then select recovery) - reboot
5. wipe again (this time use superwipe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044992) & wipe through recovery then flash a different rom
6. any suggestions?
PHONE ROOTED & ENG HBOOT (bootloader shows: hboot 0.76.2000 |g2| or 0.84.2000 |desire z| & S-OFF):
1. if you enabled usb debugging before, start adb and type adb devices, if your device shows up type adb reboot bootloader (if it worked next step = 4)
2. pull the battery and try it again
3. turn your phone in usb fastboot mode (power & tp) connect it to pc; on pc go to platform tools and type fastboot devices (your device should show up) then type fastboot oem boot
4. wipe cache or do a factory reset (power & volume down to enter bootloader then select recovery) - reboot
4. wipe again (this time use superwipe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1044992) & wipe through recovery then flash a different rom
5. if you can´t enter recovery for some reason turn your phone in usb fastboot mode and connect to pc:
5.a. wipe cache & data through fastboot (go to platform tools and type fastboot erase cache and fastboot erase userdata) - reboot
5.b. flash a recovery.img through fastboot (download the image and put it in your platform tools folder; go to platform tools and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) then enter recovery and flash whatever you want to...
6. any suggestion?
My DZ is with new mainboard now - there was no other way... I tried all steps for "STOCK PHONE - NO ROOT" without success.

sure if it is a hw defect nothing will work... i planned to add a way to confirm if it´s a broken emmc chip, but if there is no interest in a thread like this i will stop...
there is really not too much to worry about, if you private message me, I can give you Josh's information here on XDA - he can unbrick pretty much any G2/Desire-Z for $40 and has done 100's of them - he has like almost 500 Thanks on here -
the only thing he can't fix is a fried emmc chip, but thankfully those are relatively rare!
(and if the emmc chip is fried, then HTC will fix it, because that truly is their fault, so no worries!)
(HTC knows of the emmc chip failures, and that is why in this case they are not going to give you a hassle about the warranty, sort of like when an auto company has done a silent recall, so to speak)
ADB
Well when i first rooted and installed cyanogen..it got stuck oon the htc screen..pulled the battery(not safe)... so the next time i flashed a rom and this happened i just connected the phone to pc and used adb to reboot into the bootloader....
Confused with all the links to various places for rooting your Desire Z/ G2 ???? Maybe you could find it a little easier on my blog www.desirez.strawmetal.com ... Hope it helps you..

This is an effort to write a comprehensive all-in-one guide (for newbies too) to flash ROMS on Huawei S7 Slim 201.
First and foremost you have to root your device (so that you can use certain applications e.g. ROM Manager, Titanium Backup). Do the following:
1. Download SuperOneClick (google it) and extract the files
2. Install Huawei Ideos S7 Slim drivers to your computer (if you have not done it already).
3. Connect your device to your computer via USB. Make sure you have activated USB Debugging on your device. Go to settings > applications > development > tick on USB Debugging.
4. Run SuperOneClick.exe. Disable your Antivirus program before running SuperOneClick (optional but helpful). If the drivers for your device are not installed, SuperOneClick will prompt you to let it find the drivers itself. Press yes and let it continue.
5. Click the root tab. (For my device I had to click root several times because the process got stuck, but eventually it succeeded)
6. After the rooting process ends, reboot your device.
Important notice: Although SuperOneClick confirmed twice that the device was rooted, Titanium Backup could not confirm root. If anyone knows of another way please advise.
Now, in order to flash ROMs do the following:
First of all, you have to install ClockworkMod Recovery on your device. (This will help you to perform many other tasks)
There are two versions of ClockWork Recovery (that I know of).
First one is v2.1.5.8
1. Download the recovery zip (201u.7z) from the attachments .
2. Extract the file.
3. Make sure you have activated USB Debugging on your device. Go to settings > applications > development > tick on USB Debugging
4. Turn off your device and connect it to your computer via USB.
5. Press the volume up key and the power key at the same time until the device enters fastboot mode.
6. Run install.bat (from the unzipped files)
7. When the process ends, reboot your device.
8. With the USB cable connected run reboot into recovery.cmd (from the unzipped files). In the window that will open on the PC, type “adb reboot recovery” without the quotation marks and your device (after a few seconds) will enter recovery mode. (This is something you will have to do every time you enter recovery mode, unfortunately, unless you upgraded to CM9 or CM10 where you can boot to recovery by long pressing the power button anchoosing Reboot> Recovery)
9. When you see the ClockworkMod recovery menu, use the volume up and down keys so many times until the message “back menu button enabled” appears at the end of the screen. Now you can use the power button as ENTER. (This is something you will have to do every time you enter recovery mode, unfortunately too)
Second one is CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.2. (credit to WRCODE over at the androidtablets.net that mentioned it)
1. Download the recovery rar (install.rar) from the attachments.
2. Extract the file. (you will find no reboot into recovery.cmd in those files so, either use the one mentioned above, or use ROM Manager or GooManager (from Play Store) to reboot into recovery. Note: Those managers require rooting your device)
8a.With the USB cable connected run reboot into recovery.cmd . In the window that will open on the PC, type “adb reboot recovery” without the quotation marks and your device (after a few seconds) will enter recovery mode. (This is something you will have to do every time you enter recovery mode, unfortunately, unless you upgraded to CM9 or CM10 where you can boot to recovery by long pressing the power button and choosing Reboot> Recovery).
8b. Use ROM Manager or GooManager and select reboot recovery.
(this recovery version does not require anything in order for the power button to act as ENTER)
Having successfully flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, you are now ready to flash your custom rom.
1. Find the ROM that best suits you, download it and place the .zip file at the root of your internal SD Card.
2. Enter recovery mode (as explained above) and select wipe data/ factory reset. Once this is done, select wipe cache partition. Once this is done select advanced and then select wipe Dalvik cache. (very important to do all of these steps)
3. Go back at the original menu and select install zip from sdcard. Select choose .zip from sdcard. Select the .zip file that you placed at the internal SD card (make sure that it is the correct one) and press the power button for ENTER.
4. Once the ROM has been successfully flashed select reboot system now and press the power button.
If everything went ok, after a few minutes you will have your first glimpse of your new custom ROM.
Enjoy it and remember “Use the above instructions at your own risk.”
Moving to General.
usb driver for win7
hello. i've been using this tab for a while and would like to root it. sadly when i connected the usb cable to the tab the driver is not installed automatically. so i think maybe i have to install it on my own. but i can't find the driver anywhere, even the official website of huawei. (the page is available but when trying to download, it show "Service Temporarily Unavailable - The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.")
therefore i would like to request if anyone would be kind enough to upload the driver for me to proceed rooting this device.
thanks in advance.

Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
! You can rename twrp image to twrp.img or something shorter if you want.
7) after the first boot - do a reboot into recovery. Otherwise the partitions won't be mounted correctly & flashing will run into trouble. It takes several seconds (or a few minutes) to reboot into recovery - but then you're good to go.
ROOT
Some apps need more permissions than normal. You can compare root with administrator rights on windows.
1) download UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.67.zip

Unlocking the bootloader disables a partition on your phone where software keys are saved. Without this keys xReality, BIONZ, audio processing arent available. This program will restore this features.
! Take a look if xReality is already working before installing DRM keys.
1) download DRM RESTORE (drmrestore.zip) from download section
2) copy drmrestore.zip to your external sd card
3) enter TWRP
4) click Install
5) navigate through folder structure
6) tap drmrestore.zip
7) "Swipe to confirm flash"
8) reboot
! Unfortunately, there is no way to save the original TA partition at the moment.

Thanks for quite a nice guide.
I have done rooting on various devices but this seems to be most complicated ever. [emoji14]

It has been before this guide. Basically what I did was unlocking the bootloader, booting recovery, flashing kernel, flashing root, wipe, restore DRM fake, done.
Firmware wasn't necessary for me and I've made bad experiences with alternate firmwares / radios and so on in the past.
Hi. Do I have to backup my TA partition ?

Actually there is no need for it, imho. The fake DRM keys are doing a really good job. X-reality back, after picture processing back. It's also currently not possible to backup them afaik.

Thanks for quite a nice guide.
I have done rooting on various devices but this seems to be most complicated ever. [emoji14]

Many thanks.

Yes and no. You need a different kernel and mybe recovery. Everything else is the same. I will include a link in my guide if I find a working kernel.

For now, you have to unlock your bootloader to gain root access. There is no other method at the moment. So in conclusion: locked bootloader = no root.

I was not blaming, I didn't know that you updated today. Would be great in future if you do any update, add the date and following update.
Thank you.
One thing I noticed while reading your guide was TWRP is not for E6683. Will there be any problem? I haven't yet tried your guide because I was in doubt.

The new Kernel from monx includes TWRP, so you dont need to flash Recovery...normally. I know that my guide works, but only for E6653. I included a link for E6683, but I also wrote that I cant try it because I havent a Z5 E6683. Anyway, TWRP for E6653 should work for E6683 devices. The main difference is the Kernel.
Guys, what about E6633 ? Is it really bad ?

You can try it at your own risk. Someone said that it will work, but I would be careful.

Hey Guys,
I have a redmi 3s prime and i tried to install lineage os on it, during the process i accidentaly flashed twrp over both the recovery and the boot. Now i cannot get into the recovery (and fastboot) unless i flash it over boot before rebooting my phone. After that i AM able to flash an new rom but it seems to always have wifi issues.
atm i am trying to flash the xiaomi developers global rom to see if it makes any difference. My main goal is to flash TWRP and a curstom rom (linage or resurrectionremix).
Can anyone help me?
Thanks alot!
Update #1
The flashing of the global developer rom worked and the wifi seems to work aswell, i will try to boot into fastboot and recovery.
Update #2
Its seems i am able to boot into fastboot and recovery again
Update #3
Following a tutorial for flashing TWRP and a custom rom but cant se2 anyone help me here?:
Code:
>>> Check then next step to root :
- launch minimal adb tool (previously installed)
- type : adb devices (to list phone connected) it will appear "unauthorized"
- on the phone : accept the computer
- re type : adb devices
it has changed in "authorized"
- type : adb reboot bootloader
it will go in fastboot mode (the same that power + vol down)
- type : fastboot devices
your phone will appear as in adb mode (unless the bad signed driver is choosen in win10 ; i won't repeat it again)
- type (optional) : fastboot oem device-info (to verify if bootloader is locked or unlocked)
now, we go to root
- type : fastboot boot twrp.img (if it is your renamed twrp copied in the minimal adb folder)
link for TWRP guide at the end if needed
!!! it will boot temporary in this recovery but it will keep your original recovery !!!
> allow to modify system (don't keep the "read only" if you want to root or flash recovery later)
go to settings to set date, hours, language, set custom options...
My optional advices :
- save your EFS & persist partitions or all whole partitions (except cache) to make a backup
- export this backup in computer or SD card in case of future problem
(EFS, persist are usefull to save and restore your IMEI in particular)
- you can flash directly TWRP with fastboot command : fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
>>> Root :
Now flash DM-verity patch, then superSU.zip to root and accept to wipe dalvik/cache after, finally reboot !
Device is rooted ! and you have kept the original recovery.
the reboot is quite long like rom update (because of cache rebuild)
sometimes, parts of theme are lost after rooting : just restore your theme
some devices don't need DM-verity patch as explained upper
superSU app shows "systemless root" from android 6+, it is normal, read below
>>> Change the Recovery by TWRP (optional) :
Now you are rooted, you have 2 methods :
- Install one TWRP app with googleplay and flash recovery through app on rooted device.
New official app in development (flash/backup .img & .tar)
- OR reboot in fastboot mode (with TWRP app method or power+vol- method or adb reboot recovery method)
in fastboot mode, and type commands :
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
(be sure your twrp.img is unlocked and correctly copied/renamed in minimal adb folder)
Now, long press power to turn OFF phone
power + vol+ (release power at vibration) to enter in TWRP or by TWRP app or Updater app or under Windows with minimal adb reboot recovery command
Note for devices with DM-verity : flashing TWRP needs to have patched system with DM-verity patch before because you will modify system most of time - generally, you don't need to patch again because you have ever done it in previous steps - in case of bootloop : go to fastboot mode, boot in TWRP with command and patch it.
Chainfire has recently modified superSU for android 6+ devices with DM-verity to install root without modify the system : it's called "systemless root". When you flash superSU.zip, it detects automatically android version, cleans old files and installs with appropriate method. Maybe no need to patch boot in this case with DM patch.

Have a look at this post.
Hello, here what i do to install dotos and gapps(optional) without root on xubuntu (linux system on computer):
AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!
Prerequies:
Download Twrp image to your computer from this link:
https://mega.nz/#!pKJkiShQ!0T65Jc_a6BrQ45jGoimiwyncRu2rNpreeTNU20dNa9o
Download rom dotos final:
https://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/project/dotos-ota/woods/DOT-N-v1.2-20180130-woods-OFFICIAL.zip
Download gapps:
http://opengapps.org/ (select nano or pico of the type of your device) (the xt1762 is ARM/7.1/nano or pico)
Copy the rom dotos and gapps to a microsd and insert it to your moto e4 xt1762 and turn it on, you must charge your phone to 100%.
A linux system (ex: xubuntu,ubuntu,lubuntu)
Steps:
First step:
Installing ADB and Fastboot on Linux & ADB Drivers Tutorial:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3478678
Second step:
on your Phone go to settings -> About Phone -> Tap On "Build Number" 7 Times To Enable Developer Options
- - - - Settings -> Developer Options -> enable "Usb Debugging"
- - - - Settings -> Developer Options -> enable "Oem Unlock
- - - - connect your turned on Moto e4 xt1762 woods via USB
- - - - start the console via "ctrl left+alt left+t" -> "terminal" and enter the following
- - - - "adb usb" -> confirm the connection on your device
- - - - "adb devices" to check if your device is listed
- - - - "adb reboot bootloader" brings you to the fastboot mode
- - - - "fastboot oem device-info" shows some info about your device e.g. your lock status
- - - - if it say it is locked than unlook with these steps:
Type in terminal fastboot oem unlock.
-On Moto E4 screen will appear message to confirm unlocking of bootloader press VOL UP for confirmation.
-If unlocking proccess started you will see something like this on command-promt:
- Start unlock flow
- Total time.31.600s
-if everything goes good on Moto E4 screen will appear recovery, bootloader, reboot.(let the phone connected the fastboot still apear on the moto e4)
Now we will flash "Twrp" to the Moto e4:
Download Twrp image to your computer from this link:
https://mega.nz/#!pKJkiShQ!0T65Jc_a6BrQ45jGoimiwyncRu2rNpreeTNU20dNa9o
-copy the "recovery .img" to "/home" directory
-for flashing the Twrp type "fastboot flash recovery /home/recovery.img" (on computer terminal)
-twrp should start after a few seconds if not:
Hold Vol down + Power button for 5sec. until you see Android robot
Navigate to Recovery mode with volume rocker then enter with power button.
Now after few second Twrp will appear with screen "keep system read only" swipe the bar "swipe to allow modification"
-select "backup" select everything!
-backup
N.Bon't reboot your device (after installation of the rom we will find a backup on the folder name "TWRP")
Now go back to Twrp menu and choose wipe->advanced wipe
Go to advanced wipe and check:
data,cache,system,dalvik->(wipe)
Go back to Twrp and choose install
Choose dotos rom zip file from externe sdcard and choose another time gapps file (optional)
Swipe to install
Wait to installation finish
Reboot to system (in Twrp menu)
First boot can take some more time just wait
when you are on dotos system you can now copy the backup TWRP folder to your computer using the usb cable(its about 3Go)
That's the steps i make to install dotos without root access make it on your own risk don't blame me if something go wrong , if you want to root your device search in xda forum, i read that we can install magiks for that option after installing dotos, exuse for my bad english.
Hello, there is a bug on Dot os, after installing Dot os rom and Gapps, don't reset your phone to factory from setting, if you reset it will stuck to TWRP, if that is the case there is a half solution, in stucking TWRP choose reboot and select bootloader, you have a message "fastboot..." connect your phone with usb cable to your computer and open terminal and tape (fastboot continue) and "enter" that will boot Dot os rom, don't let the batterie go to 0% because the phone will not power on and not be charged from the charger, always charge your phone (ex: 20%), i find a solution for that i buy an external charger wich support battery with 3000 mah (our batterie is 2800mah) and charge the battery, after that i insert the batterie and power on the phone it stuck on TWRP so make the same steps before, excuse me for my bad english.
