S7 battery life vs S7 Edge - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

So originally i had the S7, unfortunately it got stolen. So I purchase the S7 Edge, but when I had the S7 my battery life was awesome. I went about 2 days and the battery would still have like 20% left. Now with the S7 Edge I'm losing battery so fast it's ridiculous. You would think with a bigger battery it would last longer. Anyone else having poor battery life also?
Both my S7 and S7 Edge had the exact same apps and I used it the exact same

When I first had the S7 Edge I would easily get 5 hours + of screen on time. Now I'm getting just under 4 hours.
Hopefully a software update will fix it.

That is absolutely horrible...I'll tell ya one thing...you just said you downloaded everything on it? All your accounts and apps and crap right? Well your phone is going to do that. Give it a couple days and see how it goes. You must have some Rouge apps running in the background...download shutapp and your golden. Just remember your phone will die with heavy to moderate use. I Mean you can't prevent it from dying lol. I used to have bad battery life. Now I'm good. I watch what I install closely though. I check there permissions. If you have a smart watch a lot of apps tend to run in the background. With shutapp you identify them and decide if you really need them.

There is no problems with battery life. And how could we possibly predict what marshmellow has in store for battery life for this device?

Ya its already good. I used a regular s6 and the plus manages the battery much better. Its 430 now and i have been unplugged since 530 this morning. Im at 67%
Thats with light use but the s6 prob would have been down to like 40 with the same amount of use.

To put it in perspective I took my note 4 with a brand new battery off charge at 9am its now 3 40 and I have 52 percent left and 2h25 SOT with very light usage, will I see better than this with the edge ?

I haven't had a phone with this good battery life in a year, except for the iPhone 6 plus which seem to have equally good battery life.
But yeah the standby time should be better on all phones with marshmallow.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 935F Battery Drain

I've got the s7 edge and the android system is draining about 15%,but the screen on time is amazing. About 7 hours when i play games, call people, message people. Is this too high?
Here i have a screen shot of the android system usage. Is this normal? I have all the wireless things off,i only use wifi.
I am also experiencing same issues. SOT is good but when phone should be doing nothing it's draining battery... active display is off. No Facebook.. standard sync with Google... I'm even using grenify..

Impressive. Considering the most I have ever managed for SoT on my S5 is 4-5 hours ands thats with screen brightness turned down quite a bit, cant wait for my s8+ to arrive!!
that makes me so happy. The iphone 6s Plus I had would last all day. The Note 7 I had would last all day. The S7E is almost dead by noon (5-6 hours.) Looks like the S8+ will last me all day again.
Very impressed with the battery life on the little S8 and the S8 Plus.
Considering the former only has a 3000 mAh battery, it lasted surprisingly long.

I get 6-7 hours on my s7e exynos, I dono why some people get such crap battery life, maybe duds?
Facebook, snapchat, weather running in statusbar all the time for starters. I show people all the time how much that stuff kills battery and tell them to manually check social media accounts.

Cause most everyone uses their phone's differently. Someone else using your exact phone may see way less.

I got the Exynos S7 Edge and I'm averaging at about 5.5H SOT. About 3.5h SOT is outdoors with maximum brightness. Tomorrow my S8 will arrive and I'll report back then
any shipments as of yet ?
It's better than my Note 7
I havent done any monitoring but I believe it is better than my S7 Edge. I was not happy with S7 once it updated to Nouget.

It's because there were many people who had battery draining bugs on their S7E. Certain apps (out of the box) and certain settings would cause the battery to drain extremely fast.
I know all of this because I went through it and I created a thread on how to fix the issue.
My final results with a Snapdragon S7E were roughly 8 hours SOT.

Please post SOT and battery discharge screenshots
Looks like I'm projecting to get 5.5-6 SOT on my S8+. Although that is only 30% into the battery, so we'll see.
Seems ok to me.
But im on the highest resolution setting (raised it from the default), auto brightness, wifi/bluetooth/nfc/location services on, and an android wear watch connected.

Yesterday first full day was over 6 hours sot, let it down to 23%, once I'm done playing will be interesting to see standby drain.

battery life is nuts!!!!

Here's my battery life leaving charger off until 2% and this is what the iber driver app running 24 hours which is a battery drainer!! I can easily get a day without Uber on... And this is also 8 hours SOT never had that before!

Yeah I out of habit threw my phone on the charger on a ride to the store it raised it about 7% but the phone only tracks "time on battery" and it was only a 30 minute slow charge. It's still far and beyond any phone I've ever used

My battery life have been really good so far also. I switched to an iPhone last October when the not got recalled and was impressed with the battery life and this is pretty close to the what I was getting from the iPhone
I didn't even get that with my s7edge with bigger battery. Not sure how that's possible. I get that now with my Mate 9 on a good day, but that's a 4000 capacity battery.

Newer more efficient CPU's like SOC835, etc...
Yeah, but bigger screen, pushing more pixels.

It's the combination of the 10nm SoC with the 8 cores that does all the difference. Runs cooler and has 4 cores for both light and heavy task to distribute the load. That coupled with the software optimization makes it a battery sipper. If you think that's good wait until you see the pixel 2 with the SD 830. I'm sure it'll be phenomenal.
Quite the opposite experience for me with my S8+. Compared to my iPhone 7 Plus and my S7 Edge that I recently sold the battery is not good at all. I have had the phone for 3 days now and I am consistently ending my workday with less than 40% left on the battery (somewhere around 35%) with only 4.5h of SOT. I can see that there are processes that are draining the battery in the background, for example DeX which I had to force stop. Note that I am not using DeX and have never used it so I don't even know why the service would be running. My version is using the SD835 chip.
mine is amazing

TMobile American snap Drago.. pre update (I have bixby button remapped)
Seems pretty on par or a little lower than the S7 edge. I've reached 8+ hours of SOT and an average of over a day and 6-7 hrs of SOT. It's a US SD820 ATT.

With my.use being consistent across my last 3 Galaxy devices. Note 5 s7edge and note 7 I have never gotten anywhere near this... Best I had was 4.5 hours on my note... But the Uber driver app always just eats through my battery.
what screen resolution u guys using?

Full resolution for me in high performance mode. I don't do any of that battery saver crap. If I wanted to have reduced performance I would have not bought a $1000 phone. I only use auto brightness.

I am comparing it to my S7 Edge that was running the same Nougat OS and to my 7 Plus. Both achieve better battery life. I never went home with my S7 Edge with less than 50% battery. iPhone is generally around 65%.

Battery life on the S8?

I have owned the Galaxy S7 Edge ever since it came out and although I've used many, many phones over the years, both iOS and Android, I can say with absolute certainty that it is the best phone I've ever owned.
Unfortunately, the screen developed some sort of a pink line recently and I cannot do anything about it since I am not under warranty anymore, and I rooted the phone when I first purchased it so the warranty was voided from the start.
I am currently in the market for a new phone to replace it and my gut tells me I should go for the S8 even though I know it's not totally different and might not feel like a "new experience", however I already love how the phone looks and of course the performance on the S7 itself is stellar, so I'm sure it'll be even better on the S8.
My only concern is the battery life, though. I am targeting the regular S8, not the S8 Plus, and I read that the battery is 3000 mAh while the S7 Edge's has 3500 mAh and a smaller screen which is absurd! I don't want to have to buy the Plus for the battery because it's just too big, so what do you guys think about the battery life on the regular S8, at least in comparison to the S7 Edge's?
Thanks
I had a G930F S7 Exynos before I switched to the G950F S8 Exynos. The S7 I usually got around 4.5 to 5 hours of SOT with location, Bluetooth and 75% display power. On the S8 I'm currently getting 7.5 to 8 hours SOT with the same setup. Mind you I have sync and wifi off at all times.
The S8 is a great phone. Though I can't judge the snapdragon since I have the Exynos model.
@chungdae Thank you for your reply. I have the Exynos version as well, we never actually got the Snapdragon version over here. That sounds really good and now I feel a bit better about making that decision. I feel like 5.5 to 5.8" screen is a perfect transition, whereas 6+ is just way too huge.
Yea in my opinion the size of the S8 is perfect the plus was just too big for me. There's a lot of tweaks you can do if you want to squeeze every minute of screen on time but for me it wasn't necessary. Most people receive 6+ hours normally
I used to try all those different kernel tweaks and such with the S7 but I realized they were doing more harm than good, so I just let the default settings be and things have been good ever since.
I haven't used the S7 Edge, but I'm really happy with my S8's battery life (I have the Snapdragon variant).
I get around 8 hours of SOT, and can leave my phone off the plug for at least 24 hours, if not more when used less frequently. This is on stock, with a few things disabled (Lookout, some Samsung apps).
Here are some photos.

I have no idea how people are getting 8hrs SOT on the s8+. I'm lucky of I reach 5hrs. What are the secrets? I have Snapdragon version btw
I have around 9 hours screen on time on stock firmware, really happy with result.
