Is there any one rooted S7/S7 edge Snapdragon version? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

My English is bad, sorry.
I have rooted my SM-G9350(S7 edge China version) by flashing xiao1u's recovery, then boot into recovery and flash SuperSU 2.71.
Then I found the front camera issue: When using system camera app's auto mode, the second and next photo captured become deep red black, when reboot or reset the camera app, the first shot is well, but the second shot is still become deep red black.... And other problems, such as in some apps the video can not play directly, the picture stoped at begin and the speaker make "da da da"...(I have asked one who have not root his phone, he does not have this problem...)
So I flashed back offical firmware using odin, seleted "Re-partition, Nand erase all and phone bootloader update", but no any change, the problem still there...
Some one flashed xiao1u's recovery but he haven't boot into recovery to flash SuperSU ZIP package, he say his phone does not have these problems...That seems says xiao1u's recovery does not directly cause these problems...
So the problems may because using xiao1u's recovery flashing SuperSU package?
Some one guess these problems because root changed param partition, who have param.bin?
Not only me, as I found there are about fifty people have the same problem as me....
Who can give some help? Lots of thanks!!!!!

My phone model is SM-G9350, not G935F0.... I do not know how to upload images...
Here is the samsung official link:
http://www.samsung.com/cn/consumer/mobile-phones/smart-phone/galaxy-s/SM-G9350ZKUCHC
Thanks!

FYI SM-G9350 is the Snapdragon based S7 Edge sold in HK and China. I have the same in my hand.

Something similar was posted for the S6E: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...sung-factory-bootloader-unlocker-apk-t3086609

The U.S. Snapdragon variants have a locked bootloader. It appears the Chinese version does not.

so this will only work on the asian versions?

So far, apparently.
It's been my limited observation that locked bootloaders are carrier specific, it may be that the US providers may have become consistent but I haven't really made an assessment.

USA.... The land of the free and the locked bootloader. That is just not right ☺

I almost started getting very excited...what a tease lol

I thank Congress. You know. My lawmakers, which are lock-stock-and-barrel owned by the well monied PACs, such as the telecom providers.
I give a second thanks to the malicious coders of the world that have made it necessary for personal devices that do computation to have strong built-in security defenses just to be able to communicate with other drives.

I used that file to unlock (by some way) my bootloader im on the same g9350.
The people with the locked BL issue should try CROM, if it doesnt work it will not kill your phone.
1400700226 can you share to me the links from where you obtained the info related to the root??? As I mentioned you before when i tryed the root my IMEI got corrupted.

How Can You Tell If the Bootloader is Locked?

Canadians are starting to get their phones shipped and in hand. What is required to determine if the bootloader is locked? Anything in download or recovery mode? Does an attempt to use Odin need to be made? If so, just connecting to it or actually flashing something?
Any help would be great so I can pass it on and ask others. I'd like to figure it out before my phone ships and to also save others from ordering if it is locked. Thanks.

If you try CF-Auto-Root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803) it'll simply fail and do nothing if your bootloader is locked.
The real way is to goto Odin Mode and look for "CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30" which means you're locked.
[edit]It may work even with this line[/edit]

Actually I should recant that. Someone else had that line AND he got root.
So you have to try CF-Auto-Root and see if it does anything.
CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30 does not mean that the bootloader is locked, in fact the lock status does not appear anywhere in the download mode and is defined by a gpio state triggered from a Qfuse. None of which are visible through any interfaces available to the user.
Keep in mind however that even though your bootloader may be unlocked, the bootloader itself PBL, SBL... needs to be signed, otherwise it will not be overwritten. The kernel's signature however will not be verified by an unlocked bootloader. So far all consumer GT-I9505 appear to feature an unlocked bootloader, with the exception of few engineering and review devices.

Is it possible to root a Galaxy S7 (G930V)?

Hello Everyone!
I have a Verizon Galaxy S7 and I am wanting to root it! But when I tried it did not work so I just put stock rom file back on it. I read online that my boot loader is blocking the root? I did update to 6.0.1 and my version is G930VVRS4APH1
If anyone has achieved root on this device will you please share instructions on how you did it? Thank you

Yes. and after 2 bricked S7's and a 100 rabbit holes leading me to who knows where, I finally got it.. give me a day or so and ill post the link and how to
The thread Sir_Eagle posted is the correct one for anything root. If something looped, then you either did not meet the prerequisites of the guide or did not follow every step of the guide. The bootloader on this variant requires every image to be signed, this is why the only root we currently have is via a SIGNED AND LEAKED engineer bootloader. Without this, there is no root on this variant. If you DO want to root, follow the link Sir_Eagle provided (but realize it comes with an outdated hacky kernel that has known issues), or go with stock. Up to you
The S7 I should have bought.

That's still a U snapdragon variant (note Snapdragon 820 in specs).. Would be equally unlockable for the bootloader... "UNLOCKED" in retail sense means SIM unlocked, not bootloader unlocked.

Buy the European version of the phone with the Exynos processor instead of the US version with the Qualcomm one. Problem is that phone likely won't work with any of the carriers here in the USA. Or you could move to Europe.

Snapdragon variants aren't unlockable (exception being one hardware different model than ours). You can get an international samsung chipset variant with unlocked bootloader but not a US snapdragon one.

Thanks. I don't have to worry about that for a while, since I just upgraded. I don't like the idea of no root, but it is what it is. Guess I'll check the device recommendation threads next time.
A few other questions that occur (in case I add more devices to my account or pick up an additional service):
1. Aside from an international there a (quality) phone/brand that will allow rooting in the U.S.?
2. What caveats can be expected when using an international device (presumably, I can get one compatible with whatever carrier I choose)
I guess it's conceivable that I could buy one of these 'rootable' phones and either add it to my Verizon acct or replace one of my current lines.
I miss root, particularly the ability to create nandroids and Titanium backups. Oh, and accessing the entire file system.

Does root leave some obnoxious message?

I'd really like to root my Galaxy S8+ (AT&T) but I'm worried that it will leave some warning message every time the phone boots like it did with my Motorola G or Huawei 6x. I know from past experience that Samsung Android products may show a small fine print on boot and can be reset at anytime back to factory (the Huawei, in contrast, cannot).
Is that the case with the S8?
Anyone? Comon guys!
Hi if you have the US phone, at boot there is a custom firmware screen or something. It will go away after a few restarts if you go back to factory though.

Cool, thank for the reply! It doesn't seem too bad and, if your warranty is already expired, you have nothing to lose.
Is there an original rom that's debloated for this?
Hi
Would someone help a newbie please.
I am using an S7 Edge with a cracked screen. Given the price of proper replacement screen it doesn't seem worthwhile.
It seems better value to buy an S8+, but which model number? There are apparently 12 different versions! Could anybody please tell me which model of Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus would be best for the UK?
Cheers

Samsung Galaxy A20 SM-A205U (MetroPCS)

So I got this little puppy free today.
What I've noticed so far, outside of having no service...
There is no OEM Unlock in developer options. All tricks to get it to work (moving the date up 8 days) doesn't work because the device won't give the options for software updating to be done manually.
Anybody have any luck getting the 205U OEM Unlocked? Tagging @physwizz on this.
The phone is a middle of the road, but if basic oem unlock can't be done, swapping out for a moto g6.

Not yet. I'm on the same boat. Like the phone but our model a205u doesn't have an unlocked bootloader option. I had a chat with a Samsung rep who informed me no help on bootloader oem unlocking. We have to find an unofficial way.
Anyome tried chimera tool? I checked the website and has the a205u listed under supported devices but didn't indicate bootloader unlock or root. I saw rmm unlock and Knox disabler. Also sw change. Hope someone can help on rooting or device without a cost. I'll pay up to 5 bucks but nothing more just for root when root has been free on all my devices since 2012.

Yeah, your best bet right now is to use the Android Debug Bridge to uninstall system packages without root.
You can achieve a relatively stock android experience and put on whatever launcher you want, which isnt too terrible at the moment.
We're still working on getting a TWRP going anyhow

That's right. No Way to root , unlock bootloader period. That's y the a205u is so cheap. In the USA no bootloader support. Go Motorola or pixel if you want bootloader unlock support. I sold my a205u for $125.00. Bought the Moto g7 power for $100.00 ..Rooted .. Leave Samsung alone in the USA.

News flash on that model. There is no using ADB as most commands are locked per the Knox system. And if you do manage to delete any packages, that Knox crap makes it damn hard to flash back. Odin isn't exactly a great tool for that model.
Let's set aside the stock android experience - the fact that Sammy INTENTIONALLY LOCKED all their AMERICAN VARIANTS is TERRIBLE. There is no making that better.
That is why a lot of us that got this phone TOOK IT BACK and got one that did have BOOTLOADER UNLOCK.

Hang it up. There will never be a TWRP for this variant or any other carrier variant. This is literally the VZW of Samsung models. There will be zero development for it. Only the international models will see support as a reality.

Please do, but I'm not holding my breath that Samsung will honor anything. If anything they are going to tell you to get a developer model - their quest to be Apple is going to be their end.

Followed your advice, got me a MetroPCS G7 power from LetGo ( Rooting and TWRP was a bit of a hassle but i was able to do it just fine).

SM-G9880 & SM-G9810 HK\CH\Taiwan Snapdragon Root

Hello All,
TO be crystal clear, this is for HK\China\Taiwan version of the device. Snapdragon bootloader unlockable.
I bought both these phones and was able to root successfully.
Following all the other guides, unlock bootloader etc. you extract the boot image, change to tar, patch it with magisk, flash in Odin via AP, boot immediately in recovery, factory reset, and voila, boot up and you are good to go.
I'm using the S20U with T-Mo and the S20 with ATT
I fandangled these instructions in the OP here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20-plus/development/howto-root-phone-s20-t4067649
Got FW from here
https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G9880 and
https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G9810
Edit: I imagine this works with S20+ too
So now I have a couple of questions actually.
Given that i'm a US user, can i flash t-mo CSC ? or the NA unlocked FW?
What's safe to debloat?
I do'nt know how to build kernels, but if anyone is interested, i'll be their guinea pig.

Possible you write the guide for rooting s20U snap ?

Unfortunately cannot be shipped to Portugal
I have several questions
First off for those using swift installer you must apply the high contrast theme on theme store in galaxy apps, then you can use swift installer after a reboot.
Where is caller ID settings like i had on my pixel 3 xl in terms of screening etc.
Also, do i need to flash a t-mobile CSC ?
I have wifi calling VoLTE but unsure if i'm getting the "best speeds" per se
i'm unable to access *#2263# either, does nothing..

g988n I believe is Exynos which is not favored.
if we're already importing from online, might as well go for SD, assuming it will be rootable
I didn't get my HK s10 until root appeared. to use in USA.
here is break down of model number, vs, region, vs cpu

G988N is 865
Hello masri. Thanks for your guide of rooting the S20 series. So does this mean that the rooting process of snapdragon variants are the same as Exynos variants? And which version of magical do you use? Thanks again.:highfive:

can you find 2 definite source on that?
korean pride would prevent its market from using snapdragon
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Ga...88N-256GB-6-9-in-108MP-Unlocked-/293483357905
this listing, and the link I posted seems to suggest G988N is Exynos 990.
please let me know if I am wrong
thank you

2 screenshots for verify. I bought exy version 1st but totally not good: performance, camera and battery. I switched to Korean version with snapdragon and totally happy with it. Now need root and twrp ?

thanks for the screenshot. shows me what I know. further google showed me that it is indeed SD for this particular model
the only question now is whether G988N or G9880 is more favored for rooting.
this info will change what people would buy, well, for me at least
You can now change your CSC using Samkey. I have changed mines from BRI to TGY today.

I'm wishing to purchase the SD version but just wondering where's the best place online to buy from? I'm in UK (London) so would need Samsung/Google Pay to work as well
Thanks
