Why won't it? The original files (at least the boot animation) is still there. If the kernel detects a custom 'bootanimation.zip' then it uses that. If not, it uses default.

Its not a zip file like a custom animation .
Part of the OS drop bootfile animation in and that is read remove it and reverts to stock as first file read .

camera n compass u flash it in xrecovery. u can flash both then reboot without having to reboot after each flash.
as for mddi u need to do it manually for now i don't think doixanh made a xrecovery zip yet
the meta-inf folder basically just contains a script to tell xrecovery where to copy the files.

i don't know if this was differ from other phone, but give it a try
get the rom that you want to flash..use 7-zip don't extract all just replace boot.img for kernel and you can delete some of the app that you don't want on system>app and priv-app folder.
This error will pop-up when you try to open your camera app.
How to fix it
Its very easy to fix.
My Way - I did it -
If you want a video toturial,Go to channel ThinesGaming
1.Download the zip file (Attachment Below.Click it to download)--Don't extract it!!--
2.Boot your phone to recovery mode by pressing Vol-up+power button+home button.Once your samsung logo came, release the powerbutton only.
3.Install the zip file.-Install zip-Where you downloaded it-Yes,install CameraFiles-signed.zip
4..Wipe Cache & Dalvik (optional- if you want to)
5.Start the camera app.
Tah-da its working!!

Which Alliance? You could try this. Rename your bootanimation.zip by putting a .bak on the end. Then put this file (from inside zip) in your system/ bin folder. Set permissions to 755
If you are on Alliance NE9 you can now boot into safestrap and flash a custom bootanimation zip (with qmg files) and see if it works. If you are using the OA8, you will need to put your bootanimation files in manually. The permissions for those is 644.
I hosted a thread for a guy that goes by pas2001 that does great bootanimations using qmg files. It is over on the Galaxy S5 international forum and they work on our Galaxy S5s. Let me know if you'd like a link.

You might need this bootanimation bin file then. The small one called null is from stock OA8. Rename it.
Pas2001 link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/themes-apps/mod-bootanimation-pas001-style-t2857972
Seems I already have that file in my bin folder with those permissions

Replace that file (again, renaming it first so you can restore it later if you wish) rename your bootanimation.zip file, and throw these into your system/media folder (take them out of this zip) and reboot.
Add this one too. It is your shut down animation. Set all of these to 644
