Can't find any information on this. I'm in the UK where 99% of places use chip and pin. I can't remember the last time anyone here used the magnetic strip on their cards.
So will Samsung Pay work on chip and pin card readers as a lot of them are chip and pin only without the mag strip reader.
Do you really not have mag stripe readers at all? I find it hard to believe, since many American tourists wouldn't be able to swipe their cards.
I have a chip card in the U.S., when I use my credit card at chip terminals it only lets me use the chip, if I try to swipe it I get a message telling me to insert the card so the chip can be read. I have this same card configured with Samsung Pay, and it works fine when tapping it to the mag swipe.
In your case, I would assume that non-mag stripe card readers would have NFC since they must be new, and Samsung Pay uses NFC as well.
For me, Samsung Pay has worked at all the terminals with chip readers.

That's a really interesting point. I think most card readers in the UK do have the mag stripe slot but few (if any) UK cards don't have chip and pin so I usually don't notice them. I guess they persist for cards that only use mag stripe which will mainly be tourists.
In fact we've had chip and pin for some years now so many readers support this but not NFC. NFC ones are becoming more ubiquitous but they are currently limited to a max of about £30.
The original question was whether Samsung Pay supports chip and pin readers as well as mag stripe and NFC. I too have been unable to find a definitive answer so would be very interested if anyone knows for sure.

This may have already been posted but I didn't see it and here is the direct link to my favorite version:

Has signups for the specific models now on their site and more details.
White only with 32Gb internal memory. For gray color there are both 16Gb and 32Gb models.
Which models do have microSD card slot?
Spec very unclear.....
from this site with sim no micro sd....

From the pic with the keyboard can clearly see micro sd slot....

"It" might be that samsung remove the slot so they aren't annoucing anything about. If they still have the slot they would have come clear telling us that there will be micro sd slot, no point keeping it a mistery only discredit themself.

I don't know why it doesn't show the 16GB white model there but you can see it on the parent page. (can't post links)
Seems a bit rubbish that if you buy the MultiMedia Dock, you still need to buy the HDMI converter cable?

Agreed. See how the specs sheet at the bottom now also lists Nvidia Tegra 2 where as the original preview Galaxy Tab 10.1 page a few months back just had the generic "1 Gig Dual Core Application Processor."
I would say its safe to assume nothing until you have the box containing the tablet in your hands. This is coming from a company that either redesigned a tablet in less than 2 months or used a already waiting prototype as the base. Point is, either impressive or creepy, Samsung is pretty much capable of anything......
It is confirmed now. 10.1 3G has Tegra 2 1GHz as is clearly mentioned on that page. It can't be more clear.
Also, it doesn't have a microsd slot, the keyboard has.
Things are very clear now
Although I can't see any microsd slot on the keyboard, that is what the other guy saw.
But thank God that at least Tegra 2 is confirmed

Those 'slots' on the side of the device are the speakers. There is the Samsung slot at the bottom, audio, power, and volume at the top, and speaker 'slots' on the left and right.

And I guess the fact that the folks in New York that showed up at Best Buy today hoping for a different version than the 16 GB White model are also clear on which version is avaliable.
Which wasn't clear yesterday (and obviously not mentioned).
I guess they really mean it when they announce something and then say more details to come....
My point was nothing is set in stone and my example of the "Dual Core Processor" on the original specs to the now "Tegra 2" spec is an example of the vauge -> detail pattern I've noticed.....
According to LG quick start guide pdf: ( http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/engadget/files/Nexus4_QSG_US_Print_V1.0_121005.pdf ). The nexus 4 takes a micro sim. Is this somehow different that regular sim card? Is this different that the one used in the Samsung Galaxy SII ?
a bit confused. Just wondering if I have to give t-mobile a call to get a "micro sim card"
The s3 also uses a micro sim card.

The one in the middle is a "regular" sim card and the one on the bottom a micro sim card (which has been broken out of the "regular" one). If your "regular" sim card doesn't have these "breaking points" you could also cut it into the right size with scissors, you would need to be careful though...

thank you. i have a regular sim. Guess I'll be ordering a new one closer to launch day, i don't wanna play arts and crafts with my sim card.
A wise decision, I would not want to do that either...unless my provider would charge me for it

and i can get a sim for free from t-mobile. lol
I went into a T-mobile store the other day and the rep told me they have microsim adapters available for $5. I've heard lots of stories of people who tried adapters they bought online that were bad quality and didn't fit well and ended up getting stuck inside the phone.
Does anyone have any experience with the official one t-mobile sells?

Micro to regular. I'm currently using my s2 so I'm going to buy a microsim for the N4. Google shipped me the wrong device and I want to make sure I can switch my sim to my s2 when I'm shipping the nexus back.
Also.. do you know if sim cards are one time uses, or I can call tmobile to have them switch between my regular and the micro?

I would just stick to using one sim card. You don't have to buy a sim card they usually go for $10-20 unless you get lucky and hey one for free. Go YouTube on hour to cut one using the template that's what I did and it works fine. If you failed the cut then you can buy one

I would not recommend T-Mobile's adapters! I tried inserting the adapter(without a sim card to see how it would work) into my old Galaxy S and it got stuck. I had to rip it out which caused the pins to bend and almost break! I had to smoosh them down several times before a sim card would register. I probably would of ruined my microsim had it been in there.

Please tell me you are not serious. If you insert ANY SIM adapter into the phone without the SIM card then the hole is left open where the SIM would go and the pins (which read the SIM) will lock the adapter into place. No matter which SIM adapter you use, you should NOT install it without the SIM card. I'm pretty sure it even says this on the SIM adapter's packaging.
Common sense people, try to use it.
...With that said, the T-Mobile SIM adapter has been working perfectly for me when swapping my micro SIM from the N4 to my Galaxy nexus.

They probably shipped an N4 with the wrong amount of internal storage (8GB vs 16GB). It's happened to a few others as well.

Must be nice for the people who ordered 8GB and got a 16GB instead
I've used a SIM adapter after I changed to micro-SIM waiting for my Nexus 4 to come in. It worked well in my phone, which was an Optimus T at the time. I know I could've purchased it cheaply online, but it worked well for what I needed and it was only $5. I still have mine just in case I decide to switch to a phone for a specific day or anything.

My "old" sim card simply does not fit in the sim card slot on my new Note 3 N9000 factory unlock. It is too wide. I mean, its that simple. I might add that I have had the card for many, many years. It's a T-mobile card from Hungary.
Thanks for your help

Hi, I had the same thing. I upgraded from my Original Note 1 to the Note 3. The sim card was way too big. The shop I bought the phone from (a big media chain) used a funky gadget to cut my card to fit the Note 3. It works great. I even got the sim card cut out so I can recreate the original larger card and use it in the original Note 1. It works there too.
Can you ask your shop to cut your card to size?

I bought the phone from Amazon in the U.S and the card is a T-Mobile so I guess I'll ask T-Mobile for help.
This baffles me. I don't understand how Samsung would produce a device that can't accept a standard SIM card.
I anticipate that T-Mobile will not help me and that I will just have to return the phone and buy another.
thanks for you prompt reply and I'm glad that you got your problem solved.

The answer to your question is that I didn't know that sim cards came in different sizes. I'll surely ask them about it tomorrow.
Thanks.
You can either ask service or just search online for sim card template. The PDF I found a year ago had the outline of a regular SIM card. I taped my card to the print out and cut along the outlines of the small card. If you look for it on the internet, you can also find information that even cutting a bit through the connectors doesn't harm the card as long as you don't cut into the chip of the card. Just make sure you use an appropriate sized pair of scissors as it's getting hard to see the outlines if the one you use is too big. But with most everything in life: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK :fingers-crossed:
Thanks, Mikegrmn.
It was news to me but there is a sim card called a micro sim which I am hoping will do the trick for me.
Apparently this is not an uncommon problem because you can buy a gizmo that will trim Sim cards

Yes, like I said. That there are tools available was known to me. But when I bought my razr HD last year, it was some time close to the end of the week and a colleague told me that he had such a tool and that he would bring it the day after. Well, he forgot, and by Satarday night, I was so impatient that I just used my scissors and the template. Stores are closed here from Saturday afternoon to Monday and my colleague was out somewhere with his GF. And as I always use prepaid SIMs, I thought I'd give it a try. Hadn't itworked out, I'd just gotten a new SIM and a new phone number. I only hand out my number to a couple of people for my private phone, so changing numbers isn't a biggy

Trying really hard to accept that this isn't a wind up!
Micro-SIMs have been around for years, but didn't really hit consumer products until the iPhone was released 3 years ago.
Pretty much every flagship phone uses them now, except the iPhone 5 which uses an even smaller NANO-SIM. My Galaxy Note 1 was the last phone I owned that used a regular mini-SIM, and that was 2 years ago.
The world has moved on, and you've been left behind!

Dave

Yup the Note 1 uses a regular sized sim
The Note 3 uses a Micro-Sim
You can pick one up from your carrier as replacement to swap your plan into
OR
Just cut your old sim..
All the posts above me got you covered :good:
The micro sim is the next generation sim cards. Every carrier supply new micro cards on demand. If not they are closing down pretty fast couse this is the new standard.
Why would you bother bying tools when a new micro sim is only one call to support away??...!
Smaller cards = more space awailable when designing phones.
Do you not remember when sim cards was the size of a credit card?

I don't think you can do this because most tablet use different CPU that cut off the modem support like phone for reducing cost.
if you find way to do it, tell me and i like to try it too.
