So I recently bought a galaxy s7 from t-mobile. I do not wish to install custom roms or do anything with the bootloader. All I need is root. Do any of you know of any news for root for the snapdragon varients of the s7? Thanks in advance

I'm just stock and rooted. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a specific recovery to use. I don't want to brick. Do you know what I should use?
@Tiraniss Im new to Cspire and I don't see much development for our phones hopefully some nice developer will take interest in our devices soon.
I sure hope so. I was able to flash cm on my s4 but the screen got smashed.
Anybody had any luck with this? I've recently switched back to c spire...

Hello, would updating through OTA affect the ability of me rooting my international s7 edge? I'm planning to have the latest OTA update before I root.
I'm still very much new to rooting and XDA. Any answer(s) would be appreciated! [emoji1]

Does anyone know if/how I can get a custom recovery on the S7 Edge (American Qualcomm G935V-(Flashed to G935U, rooted)) for a custom ROM? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
I also saw something about the bootloader being locked, so it may not be entirely possible, I'm not sure. If this is the case though, is there any workarounds?

Since you are on a SD model, you won't have support for the exynos roms and you would need the SD roms. where there are barely any for now.

Flashfire is the only type of recovery but cannot flash a custom kernel

If your S7 or S7 Edge is either a G935F or a G930F phone
then you are in luck.
There are basically two ways to root, either using one of the
many stock, almost stock or custom kernels and supersu or
you can root using CF-Autoroot method.
If your phone is a branded Tmobile, AT&T, Sprint or Verizon
then it cannot be rooted at all and will never be rooted due
to the fact that all of those phones have locked bootloaders.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
CF-Autoroot. I'll check it out. Thanks!

CF-auto root does not work on Nougat for S7. Only SuperSU at the moment.
Flash TWRP in ODIN.
Then boot to TWRP and flash SuperSU-v2.79-SR3

What do you mean? My device is a sm-g935v and I'm rooted after flashing the sm-g935u firmware and developer kernel then flashfire supersu... Even flashed echo rom. Everything works great.

I believe it was possible on the Snapdragon variant but never on Exynos.
Have you tried Kingroot? It works and successfully root ALL of my devices, even on the locked bootloader S4 Verizon.
What custom ROM can I install and what guide or flash tool do I use? I have tried many with a bricked s7 edge I have and no luck. Just would like a nice ROM like RR or Ironman to install and a guide to doing it so I'm not doing something wrong

The snapdragon versions of the s7 edge have locked bootloaders preventing them from getting custom recovery preventing them from flashing custom roms.
The only unlocked snapdragon s7 edge is the Chinese version.
9350.
Meaning only the 9350 can use custom roms in the snapdragon section of the forums.
The rest of the users are using exynos processor phones.
If your phone is bricked use samsung smart switch to restore it to stock.

You can root on Oreo now, no custom ROMs because the bootloader will never be unlocked.
