hi,
This has been going on forever on 5.0 - does anyone know why the battery page shows the WIFI as active even though it's disconnected? Tends to happen if you forget the wifi on then lose connection to that particular network and then turn it off... it will still show as active with the bar going..
thanks,
gab

Something strange since my upgrade to 1.66 - when the phone's in standby it appears to be establishing an active 3G connection, and when i wake (unlock) the phone, you can watch as it reconnects to the current wifi connection again. Is this some sort of energy saving strategy, which could theoretically run your 3G bill up? (dont matter to me as mine is unlimited, but not all are).
Anyone else notice/know about this?
By default, Wifi is disabled during standby to save power. So if a program requests an internet connection, for example outlook if you configured it to check mail automatically, the phone will connect the data connection.
You can search for "wifinostandby" to find a fix that disables auto wifi power off.
But beware that current consumption with wifi on is substantially higher than when it's off, by 10 times (current draw is about 50mA vs 5 for "true" standby), meaning you get at best 30h standby life if doing nothing else.
Also, dont forget that the top bar shows you the connetion being offered by your network, it doesn't necessarily mean it's doing anything. If you disable the wifif you see the same 3g icon regardless of what data is doing. So as said above, you go to standby, wifi is disabled so the wifi icon vanishes, then if you have your phone in 3g mode (personally mine stays in gsm mode, so i see an E not a H) when you wake it up it will display the H before the wifi kicks in and the icon changes back to wifi again.
So i got my N1 today, connected it to my Wifi at home and it worked flawlessly, then i left it alone for charging, and now it won't talk to the internet anymore
i can access the routers config page via the browser, i can ping the N1 from my PC which is on the same WiFi, my Pc gets in the Internet just fine, but what's up with the N1?
I have apndroid to disable 3G and EDGE/GPRS data, but that didn't affect it earlier.
Any clues?
Does the phone show the Wifi symbol on the notification bar?
hold on it worked there for a second, loaded engadget...
then when i went to check out the android market it gave me a network error again, and the browser also won't show up any pages...

yeah it does, full bars i got like 100% signal...
I downloaded keepwifi from the market, sometimes it would drop out, either because of sleep or because of some other reason.. and with the access points i'd occasionally have to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on
Running CM 5.0.2
My wifi is working now. See post h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5773148&postcount=26
Hmm, you try restarting phone and or taking out the battery for a while.... ?
Maybe even turn it to airplane mode and try.
If anyone here uses wifi, does your 3g stay connected while wifi is on? I know when wifi is on, the phone will use it for data. I mean up in the notification bar does it show the wifi icon, and the 3g icon for anyone here? Also in settings when you go to about phone then to status, under "Mobile network state" does it still say "connected" when you have 3g on.
The reason why I ask this is because since I've had my Fascinate, when wifi is on, "mobile network state" is disconnected, and I only have the wifi icon in the notification bar at the top. However as of 10 mins ago when I put wifi on, the 3g icon is still on up at the top, and under status "mobile network state" is staying connected.
The WiFi icon should replace the 3G icon.

It normally does, but for today it didn't. Even in settings when wifi was on, it still said my mobile network was connected. I eventually turned wifi off, then back on, and it went back to just being the wifi icon at the top and mobile network disconnected in settings. I'm just wondering if this is some underlying issue i've been having with my signal strength affecting this.
I'm guessing WIFI was on but you weren't connected to any networks. I've had that happen a couple times.

No, I was connected to my house router and 3g was still on. I did a speed test to make sure I was on wifi.
Hi guys,
after having installed CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.6 I have got problems with WiFi and 3G connection. Sometimes it seems my phone disconnects with the internet. Actually, the widget shows that connections are enabled but the market or browser won´t load anymore and I get the message that I need to check the connection :S
In this case, the only thing that helps is to switch to flightmode for some seconds. Sometimes even this does not solve the problem and I have to restart my phone.
Hope, you guys can help me. Thanks.
I noticed another problem, that might have a relation to the first one i have described.
Sometimes when I like to connect my phone to the internet via 3G or WiFi (using the integrated widget) it does not connect at all. The status bar does not show the WiFi or 3G sign and browsing is not possible.
Damn guys I need your help
I have an SGH-I337 that is running Cyanogenmod 11-20151112-SNAPSHOT-M12-jflte with baseband I337UCUAMDB, and I am experiencing some odd WiFi behavior.
The WiFi will be connected, showing in both the notification bar and the WiFi settings, the notification bar with show traffic (blinking up and down arrows), and yet apps won't be able to access the network. I can restart the WiFi via settings and this will usually restore app connectivity, though not permanently; eventually apps will lose connectivity again. Rinse; repeat.
At times I'll get annoyed at having the WiFi problems and turn WiFi off and use LTE. However, the WiFi eventually turns itself back on, often times exhibiting the connectivity issue that drove me to switch to LTE.
Another issue is that the WiFi will forget the settings for a given network. The WiFi app will simply show the network, not indicating that settings are saved, and I'll have to enter them again.
I haven't been able to establish a pattern to these issues, and it's driving me mad! Has anyone seen anything like this? Have any suggestions, besides taking a handgun to the phone?
