Hey guys,
I'm deciding which browser I should use in my Galaxy S7 edge, considering that I want to have an ad blocker (preferably the one that consumes less battery as possible), which browser you think is the best? {Speed + Features + Ad blocker}
I use stock browser with Adguard
I've always been a big fan of chrome, the multi sync between devices is great and I use my Google accounts a lot. Although for the S7 E I have switched over to the Stock browser, fingerprint login and the tiny speed improvement is worth it in my opinion.
if you want to use Chrome and reduce the lag in it significantly. Go to settings>Privacy> Prefetch resources and select never. I noticed a significant speed boost. Still lags sometimes, but nowhere near before!!
I prefer Dolphin actually!!

The way you phrased the question sort of leads to a specific outcome, since Chrome doesn't do ad-blocking at all.
But I still answered Chrome. I do my ad blocking with NetGuard (which also blocks most ads in apps), so the fact that one browser supports ad blocking and the other doesn't makes no difference. And while Samsung's browser is a little faster, the integration with Google's ecosystem makes Chrome's feature set far more useful to me than the speed advantage of Samsung's app.
The only reason I am not using the default browser is its inability to cast videos from its player. I use that function so often. Otherwise its speedy and well done.
Stock browser + Adblock Fast = Best combo
Which ad block you guys recommend for the stock browser? I heard that crystal is really good..

Normally I would say chrome, but for some reason it's not working properly on the s7 edge, at least on the exynos version. On my old note 3 chrome is flying, it's very smooth and fast. Probably because it's not properly optimised for these new chipsets yet. Stock browser works very well tho, and even if chrome will perform better in the future, Samsung's offering will still be a solid option.
Stock browser isn't also faster, it's also more battery friendly than Chrome, I tested it a while ago. I used Chrome for like 1 hour and lost 17% battery while stock browser 12%, saves a lot imo.

Yeah, I agree. The stock browser seems a little quicker and a little more battery friendly than Chrome. It's no secret that Chrome (on all platforms) is a battery hog beyond dimensions, so this doesn't surprise me one bit. Crystal Adblock also does its job well, so I don't have any complaints really. I just wish tab-switching was a little quicker. I love how Chrome handles tabs, so it's a little bothersome to have to tap that freakin' button to get to the tabs, instead of just swiping.
So the short answer is, I like Chrome better overall, but I prefer Samsung Internet in this case (for now).
Is there a way to have tabs open in the background in Stock browser
Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk
I use the stock browser with Crystal Adblock.
I tried using Chrome since that's what I usually use but the stock browser is not only faster but it's easier on the battery as well. I noticed that syncing Chrome raises the "Android System" battery usage.
If anyone is debating on which browser to use then you have to figure out what is more important to you. Do you want the syncing ability across devices with Chrome or do you want a faster browser that is easier on the battery.
By the way the Samsung browser with Crystal Adblock is lightning fast. Once you use a Adblock you'll never be able to not use one.

I have 2 S7 Edge phones so I did speed comparison between the different adblockers for the stock browser (Adblock Fast vs. Crystal vs. Adblock Plus). Overall Adblock Fast was the fastest out of the three.

Good job man! That's exactly what I would do if I had 2 s7 edges.. Did it win by a big margin by the way?
Also, it's just for the browser or overall apps?
Thanks man!
i disabled chrome just because samsung browser is insanely fast.
I'm using Firefox cause I can listen to YouTube playing while the screen is off or even browsing my phone . Anyone can check is it working also on stock browser?

No problem! It won by a significant margin imo. It won for browser page load speeds, both fresh and reloaded pages.

It's just an add blocker for the browser correct?

It's laggier than my Z3! I was NOT expecting this. Scrolling on certain sites is super choppy.
Guys, can you confirm?
UPDATE:
I have performed a factory reset and first impressions are that it is super smooth and silky now when scrolling again. I am yet to sign Chrome into my google account to sync a tonne of my bookmarks and see if this affects performance. Also, waiting on all my 237 apps to install in the background first before carrying out another test too. I will report back once I've done so.
UPDATE 2:
On my previous factory reset, somebody said I should remove last pass, which I did but it made no difference as I still had other accessibility services enabled. So the problem resurfaced.
Okay, so it is all down to accessibility services, IMHO. Once enabled, Chrome seems to suffer from this dreaded laggggg and slow touch response or sometimes freeze and crash on sites like daily mail, XDA and huffpost. I have performed a factory reset and not enabled any accessibility services yet and everything is hunky dory, even with full bookmark and account sync.
I will update when and if problem recurs. All seems well for last couple weeks, thank God.
I find the whole phone slower and more laggy than my S6 Edge. Very surprised by that.

I appreciate the tip and will actually do that.. Only thing is, I'm looking for a direct solution or fix for Chrome and whether the guys at Google are aware of this embarrassment.
I have bookmarks, PC sync, Pushbullet, ad block, Pocket and other extensions that work seamlessly on Chrome. Terrible shame that it is laggier than my Note OK and Z3 in scrolling and panning etc.

Sorry, I wouldn't know because I have had Samsung devices lately and I never used Chrome on them. I always preferred the Samsung browser since Chrome always seemed too bloated.
Now that I can't use the Samsung browser, I was curious what people are using instead of Chrome.
Which site specifically is lagging? It seems fine to me.

Daily mail I was able to just scroll the page up and down the display very quickly. Was smooth when scrolling slower as well.
Are you using ad blocker or anything? Pure stock? Any apps consuming cpu in the background?

I'm pure stock, no root. Does Chrome have ad blocking on its mobile app? I don't have any installed from the Play Store neither.
I also noticed that unlike before, Chrome doesn't respond to touch as willingly as it does on my Z3 until the full page and ALL ads/banners are completely loaded and the blue bar is gone... It DOES scroll while loading, just after hesitating first and then being choppy when scrolling. I need to record this and upload someplace. Any ideas?
You should have a YouTube account, all Google's accounts can do this. Presumably you can with whatever account you're using on your nexus device.
Edit: not sure what is going to help though, I don't think just proving it's happening will help as that doesn't get to the root cause.
Get a cpu monitor and make sure no other apps are consuming cpu in the background. I'd the phone warm at all?

Good point. It's now showing itself on the Z3 as well. Simply because I'm now running Sony's concept marshmallow on there. I still have my old Note II and it is still coping better than my marshmallow toting devices.
It isn't warm neither. I think Chrome isn't optimised for Android 6.
So question is, what browser are you using?
And what browsers is out there for least battery and ram usage?

Chrome Beta or Dev. Gives a good glimpse of experimental/upcoming features.
Used to use dolphin and only reason i didn't move away was i had lastpass, now i use keepass i've moved to chrome and i much prefer it.
I've been using Chrome for long time and I don't plan to change that anytime soon.

Chrome. Mostly for the syncing. It's so good. It's not the fastest by any means. Aosp browser blows everything it if the water for speed, but not worth giving up syncing for me.

CM browser is fast..dolphin browser for flash player..:good:
Like Dolphin as my daily driver....
Chrome Dev. Regular Chrome crashes webpages way too often on Android N.
Forever on Chrome as well.
Opera is the best BY FAR! Like not even any close seconds.
It's pretty quick, smooth (mostly)....but the main thing..REFLOWS TEXT!!!
Google got rid of reflow text so you would be forced to see their ads. Chrome sucks because who wants to keep scrolling constantly to read!
Makes a huge difference.
Also can set to use Desktop sites. Highly recommended.

I've always used Chrome until I got S7E. The Samsung browser is better IMO. It uses less battery and it loads faster. Combined with ADblock Fast, its pretty nice. I also really like that secret mode can be locked to your fingerprint and website logins as well.

I totally agree. I used Chrome up until getting the S7 Edge. I also like the reading mode and night reading.
because Chrome is by far the worst, laggiest, most horrendous mobile browser ever. seriously, how can Google create such a monstrosity? it's so slow, it lags up every phone I use it with and just plain old freezes. it's terrible.
I miss the stock Samsung browser with ad blockers... because this is terrible.

No stock browser but Pyrope is really solid and fast.
Try opera
I'm using Chrome and its running quite fast compared to the V10.
I'm using Pyrope and it's pretty great. The only thing I don't like about it is how you open new tabs.
never heard of pyrope. does it have ad block extensions? i'd love another samsung type browser where you could log into stuff with fingerprints. do any have access to that?
firefox was always laggy and slow on my Tab S so i never bother with it, but maybe i'll try it with an ad blocker.
anything has to beat chrome. i don't even care about my bookmarks anymore. i just keep chrome on the phone in case i need a bookmark.
just found one called free ad blocker browser..anyone use it before?
So use DNS66 or AdGuard to block ads in browsers and system....and use whatever browser you want....
Just not Opera....they sold out.
yeah I read that thread by you here or on reddit, can't remember, and some people were reporting battery drain. my end goal is root and just using ad away so this is a small measure until then. this pyrope is nice and blocks some ads.

It's definitely a matter of personal taste when it comes to browsers and I have still yet to find "one that does it all" when comes to the stuff I look for (like user agent, flash, ability to sync bookmarks and send page to laptop browser, and so on), but I've narrowed it down to just a couple that work well for me which are Boat Browser and Puffin.
I've honestly never heard of the one mentioned earlier called Pyo-something so I'm definitely gonna check it out after I send this, good luck with your search though and if I'm ever able to find that "all in one" browser I'll be more than happy to share it [emoji106].

No sheet. Ads suck. Probably going to check the root thread this weekend and see how easy/hard and stable it is. Also, seeing if any rumors of LG at least pushing a bug fix update. I don't have any major bugs. And the minors ones aren't even a nuisance. More buggy or less useful apps that need nougat update. Pretty solid firmware for having nougat first, getting it out fast and it being LG. Biggest gripe if I had to make one is I wish impedance was more consistent or better yet could manually pick low and high mode. Many uses for that beyond getting quad DAC on all the time for high impedance mode. But back on topic... Y'all should try naked browser. Not the best ui, but damn useful and quick browser.

Hi,
On my Exynos s10+ when browsing animations feels sometimes laggy also switching between tabs is sometimes stuttering and not fluid like the Samsung browser.
These problems I don't have with my previous phone with a Snapdragon 845.
Animation speed is already on 0.5
Is this common? It feels I got downgraded 4 years ago in terms of speed.
Mine is blazing fast. Maybe you have a power saver on which slows down the cpu?
Also no stuttering on mine, maybe clear cache...
Chrome is definitely not as smooth as Samsung browser.
On my old Pocophone F1 the Chrome browser feels a lot faster.
Also when switching between tabs the animation never slows down or any of that kind of stuttering.
Go to setting - accessibilitty - video enhancement - remove animation
Samsung's browser is also based on Chromium, it's superior in 3D rendering but inferior in everything else important for actual browsing, you need to check what settings are slowing you down because it's definitely not Chrome.
I don't know through any benchmark if Chrome is faster than Samsung Internet and I do not use any phone than Samsung at this moment but Samsung Internet is smoother on Samsung phones. I have been using it for at least 2 years at a stretch and almost forgot that Chrome exists on my phone.

So should I disable Samsung internet browser? The reason I'm asking is that I'm still getting only good screen on time not amazing. I got 6 hours yesterday but am not nearing 7 or 8 that many are getting. I've followed your guide and have applied most settings. For adaptive power saving I had it on for the last week and it does not seem to be helping. Then I had it off yesterday until it was at 20 percent and the screen on time seemed a little better.

No lag whatsoever. I use Firefox and Kiwi (chromium). Although, I haven't seen lag since the SD808 days. Otherwise everything is snappy on this phone.
I had this exact same problem with chrome, i even took my phone to a Samsung service centre and they couldn't figure it out..... But I did!!
I did a factory reset and manually installed all new apps one by one, checking chrome after each install. Phone was fine until I updated the chrome app and back came the stuttering. So disabled the app which took it back to the factory version and not allowed it to update. Works great now, i hope this works for you too.!
