Bypassing Carrier tethering restriction? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Is it possible to bypass the AT&T tethering restriction with a rooted 935F? The AT&T version of the phone is locked down so you can root the phone, but the 935F is not.
Would this be something easily achieved once I have it rooted? Thanks.

Tethering Made Simple on Galaxy S7
There are 2 ways to bypass the tether restriction without rooting your phone (though it can be done on a rooted phone as well).
1) Go to Settings - System - About Device.
Scroll down to Build Number and tap it 7 times (you'll see a countdown after around 3 taps saying you're X taps away from becoming a developer).
Tap the back arrow, and you'll see "Developer Options" as a menu item between Help and About Device.
Tap Developer Options and enable USB debugging.
Either download a tethering program like EasyTether from Google Play or write your own code.
2) Visit a user agent tracking website from your phone and carefully write down the user agent string in some text file on your computer.
Change the default user agent string in the web browser on your computer to the string from your phone:
Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge
Press F12, select Emulation, enter the UA string.
Firefox 36+
Type about:config in the address prompt, confirm the action, right-click on the list of parameters, select New → String, enter general.useragent.override as the preference name, paste the UA string.
Safari 5+
Go to menu bar → Safari → Preferences, select the Advanced tab, enable the "Show Develop menu in menu bar" option then use menu bar → Develop → User Agent.

Connected to GPRS through XDA MINI S?

Hi all,
i have recently bought a laptop and as i am away alot, it would be helpful for me to connect to the internet through my phone. e.g. use my phone as a modem. However i cannot find any documentation on how to do this?
Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and how? I have tried through activesync but no luck.
If you could let me know that would be brilliant!
Thanks
Yeah its possible... just finished setting it up on mine This site helps:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprsconnect.html
But i'll walk you through cos it took me a while to get it to work...
Firstly, are you on pay monthly or pay as you go?
There should be a program on you're XDA called "Modem Link" that is used for this. You can do it either over USB or infrared, though i recommend USB cos its much faster
Open this program and choose usb, then pick the Access Point you use to connect to GPRS normally on youre phone (check in the connection settings to see which AP corresponds to which settings if you need to) then press activate.
Now connect your phone to the laptop with the usb cable, and the new hardware wizard will pop up. Allow it to search the internet (you need a connection) and it'll install it automatically for you.
Then, On the PC, go to the Networking section of the Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control panel > Network)
Select "Make new connection" (this should start a setup wizard)
Choose "Dial up to Internet"
Choose the "connect via a modem" option
Enter the telephone number to dial as *99# (No area code, and turn off dialing rules)
Username for Pay Monthly is: o2wap
and for Pay and Go is: payandgo
Password for both is: password
When complete, go to Control panel > networks, and right-click on the icon for your GPRS connection. Choose properties and set the following: Connect Using - select your modem (infrared / USB)
You need change one other thing - to do with your modem settings. Do this as follows:
Go to Start > Settings > Control panel > Modems
On the Modems tab, select your modem, and press Properties
On the Advanced tab, you need to enter string in "Extra initialization commands". This initialisation string will need to be entered as:
+CGDCONT =1,"IP","wap.o2.co.uk" (for contract)
or
+CGDCONT =1,"IP","payandgo.o2.co.uk" (for PAYG)
Note the space before the =1. obviously dont include the bit in brackets.
I found I then needed to go into internet explorer and go on Internet Options > connections tab > choose "dail when network connection not present"
and then select the GPRS connection you made earlier > press settings > enable proxy server.
use the following ip address for the proxy server:
193.113.200.195
Now, I'm not sure which port number you will need, because it says to use 9201 but that didn't work for me, i use 8080. try both and see which will lets you load up a page.
press ok and try to load a page in IE. dial you connection when asked and it should work. try google as a test.
Tell me if you run into any problems.. I have it working on my pay as you go sim.. I have no idea if it will work on pay monthly, you might need to try using some of these settings:

SPB Free Panel - Weather

Hello guys
I was wondering what your experiences are with the weather feature on the free SPB panel. Is the weather supposed to auto update? there is an option set to automatically update, but for some reason mine doesnt. But when im connected to wifi or active sync it updates.
I have made sure non of the other options are ticked like docked or free connection as I want it to update through GPRS.
Can someone tell me if its supposed to update through GPRS or whether its designed to update only through wi-fi and active sync.
I have a vodafone x1 if that helps.
I had the same problem, and fixed it by either:
1 - amending the MMS settings (voda sent me the settings which needed to be entered manually), if you're getting MMS messages OK then it isn't this.
2 - Change connection settings from post #7 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450502
Not sure which one it was cos I did them both at around the same time and noticed weather updates regularly then!
Sounds like you are using the Vodafone WAP settings to surf the web (classed as MyISP). This tends to block most requests that aren't done via a browser* and instead you should use Vodafone Internet settings (classed as WEB).
*that said quite a lot off apps now run over the WAP APN on Vodafone as they have tweaked the firewall
Does anyone know if I need to change any settings on AT&T? I love the graphics of this app, but it won't initiate its own internet connection. I have to check email or use the browser first to get the weather to update. I looked at SPB forums and no one knows why. Tried re-installing, but that didn't help either.
Thanks alot guys
Your help is greatfully appreciated.
for anyone who shares the problem:
On your Xperia go to....
settings
then select the connections tab
then the connections icon
followed by the advanced tab
Now chosse the select networks button and in the top drop down menu (the connection for programs which automatically connect to the net to use) and change it to "WEB" rather than "My ISP".
Then you need to set up mms again otherwise you wont be able to send messages
Setting up MMS

2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap the Connections Tab at the bottom of the Screen.
4. Tap on Connections Icon.

13. In the Access point name Box, and enter:
for Pay monthly customer: wap.vodafone.co.uk
for Pay as you Talk customer: pp.vodafone.co.uk
14. Tap Next.
15. In the User Name Box, Enter wap
16. In the password Box, Enter wap
17. The Domain should be left blank
18. Tap on the Advanced button,
19. Tap to select Use Server assigned IP Address,
20. Tap OK in the top right hand corner of the screen.
21. Tap Finish,
22. Tap OK in the top right hand corner of the screen.
23. On the Network management page, tap the Arrow icon below “programs that
automatically connect to the internet should connect using” and select My ISP or My
Gprs.
24. Tap OK in the top right hand corner of the screen three times.
25. From the standby screen Tap Start, then Messaging, then SMS/MMS,
26. Tap Menu, then select MMS Options,
27. Tap the servers tab and then the default option (vodafone MMS) by clicking on it once,

Sooo .... you're crying because you couldn't change the settings? (sorry, that icon is just stupid)
To change settings, if you are already connected then long hold on the network, modify, scroll down and tick on "advanced options" .. and there you have it.
First time connecting: tap on the network, type your password, scroll down to "advanced options", tick on it, and scroll down further, more options will appear.

Droid X MB810 flashing to Cricket

yes hello i am trying to use qpst i go to configuration and i can see my phone i already did the virtual port and cdma workshop i am trying to
Section 4: QPST
When using QPST, don't let your phone go into sleep mode or it will lose connection.
1.) Open your Programs menu and go to QPST > QPST Configuration. If you do not see an active phone listed, select the "Ports" tab and click "Add New Port..." at the bottom right. Highlight the port you created for the DX, then click "OK." It should show the phone information. If it doesn't, check to make sure the DX is in PC mode.
2.) Close the window, and go back to Programs > QPST > Service Programming. Select the phone info, and click "OK." On the new window that pops up, click the "Read from Phone" button on the bottom left. A box will pop up asking for the SPC, but it already has 000000 in it, so just click "OK" and a blue progress bar will start creeping across the top left part of the screen. It might take a few minutes to finish.
3.) Click the "M.IP" tab. Select the entry for your phone, then click the "Edit" button. Make sure the NAI and Tethered NAI both read [email protected] or [email protected]. Your phone number should take the place of the xxxxxxxxxx. Home address, Primary HA address, and Secondary HA address should all be 0.0.0.0. If they aren't, change them. Click the "OK" button. While you're on the M.IP tab, make sure the Mobile IP behavior drop down is set to "Mob + Simp f/back" and Active User is set to 0.
4.) Select the "PPP Config" tab and click the "Um" button. Tethered NAI and User ID should be the same as they were in the M.IP tab. The Req PW box should be checked. In the password field, type in either "cricket" or "metropcs" depending on your carrier. Click the "AN" button, and make sure the USR ID is the [email protected] or [email protected]. The Req PW box should be checked, and the password is the same as it was for the Um tab. Tethered NAI should be blank and grayed out.*
5.) Click the "Write to Phone" button on the bottom of the screen. It may take a few minutes, and the phone may reboot. When it comes back up, you should have web access.
