Hi,
do you also experience this problem like in the title?
What i mean is that the display goes to sleep (as expected), and sporadically when i try to wake up the device with the power button nothing happens.
I have to force Power down (pressing the power button for 10seonds), and then i can power up normally. This is annoying.
My 1050F ison latest OTA update, no root, locked bootloader.
Might this be a problem with the wakelocks that doctorw and iampanis mentioned?

You're not the only one with this issue, rest assured. I have probably have to do the same once or twice a month. Might be a wakelock deficiency or memory leak (which causes a background app to crash upon power button press). It would be cool if Lenovo can optimize this and the occasional stutter in one of their updates.

Hi All,
I have been having trouble with the phone.
The screen has been turning on by itself and not turning off. The screen will not turn off until i hit the power button. It will not turn off until the phone is out of battery.
Is anyone else having this problem?
thanks!
Want to bump this up ... having the same issue. I've uninstalled nearly every app (at least the ones I'd think would be problematic) and it's still happening. I've downloaded Spare Parts today to see if I could figure it out but I don't have enough data yet.
Anyone else have this issue? Even when I press the lock button, I sometimes need to press it multiple times to get the screen to turn off.
I too am having this problem and boy does it suck battery lol

Do you guys have power saving mode enabled or disabled? Just curious, since that's one of the only things (in addition to message notifications) that affects the screen.
can it have anything to do with automatic updates?
i never had this issue. before or after root. i just rooted two days ago
I had this problem before and after root. I also did a factory reset and I thought it was fixed ... but now it's doing it again.
Happens w/ Power Saving mode enabled and disabled.
I've figured out a semi-solution to this which seems to be working:
With Advanced Task Killer:
Enable Auto Kill Frequencey "When screen off"
Set Auto Kill Level to "Aggressive"
Set Security Level to "Medium"
Don't forget to put any apps you don't want killed in the ignore list (like WidgetLocker, your music player, etc.)
This seems to keep the screen locked for me ... but I still can't figure out what app/process is the culprit in waking the screen when it goes to sleep.
I noticed that about half the time a press and hold won't wake the camera when the phone is in a sleep state. It's progressed to almost never waking the phone from a sleep state. Sometimes if I walk the phone and then put it to sleep, it will then work for a minute or so then stop working again. I've confirmed the feature is turned on in settings. The button seems to always work when the phone is not asleep. I was about to go exchange the phone thinking it might be a bad button but had this inkling that it could be related to the additional memory installed. Anyone else having this issue? I have a Sandisk 16gb class 2 card installed with no other problems.
I've got the same problem. I'm still not sure if its supposed to wake it up, or am I supposed to press the power button first, then the camera? I know it's supposed to work without unlocking it, but I have to unlock it every time.
No extra SD card for me, just the stock phone.
If you are using the camera on the phone to wake it up in camera state from the sleep state...the proper method is to hold down the camera button in the sleep state, you will feel a haptic feedback(vibration), and then you need need to let go of the camera button immediately. If your device is already awake just tap camera button and it should open.
Thanks for that clarification.
So from a sleep state I can get the camera to turn on. Pressing and holding the camera button I feel the haptic buzz, and then it's on.
From an awake state, but locked screen - the camera doesn't turn on either if I hold the button or just tap it.
From an awake state, unlocked, the camera turns on with a tap of the button.
I've tried all kinds of combinations but basically sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm going to go swap out the phone at the AT&T store today just to be safe. It could be a short in the button.
The phone just reset itself and wiped all my data. The camera button issue could be related to the memory card problems. I'm exchanging the phone today and will run without the memory card for now.
Make sure your hand isn't blocking the proximity sensor near the earpiece. It uses that to make sure it doesn't turn on the camera when it's in your pocket, etc.
SOLVED!
LOL, RustyGrom is totally right, guys!
I thought my camera button was going bad, too, but I can easily recreate/avoid the issue by changing where I grip the phone with my left hand.
Rom: Olyfr sbf upgraded to 4.1.5.7 from 4.1.2.6 via OTA
Not rooted
I have not yet modified the power button.
'Cause I set up the fingerprint unlock,Im used to swiping my finger after press the power button.
after pending or standing by a while(maybe),It vibrates once after my unlocking through scanning fingerprint. But!!!! The screen is still black!!!
Meanwhile, touching the four buttons on the bottom,it still vibrates!
And waiting for seconds,Screen on~~~~~
Symptoms sound a lot like my Bell Vibrant before it died after the Froyo upgrade.
Have you tried resetting your phone yet?...
Okay,I have flash it to 4.157sbf,and temporarily nothing goes wrong
I have the same symptoms. Sometimes when I push the power button it takes 3-5 seconds or more for the screen to light up. I did a power off and on and it works better. Not sure what is causing this but it is annoying.
I've had this on.both my atrixes and it seems to.resolve itself as the phone gets older

I have had the same issue on mine. It occurs intermittently. Not always, but sometimes. And when the screen is turned off, I push the power button and nothing happens for about 3-5 seconds. Sometimes longer.
I do also have the fingerprint security feature on, though I am not sure if that that has something to do with it. However there is another problem with the fingerprint security.
Sometimes I want to check the time so I just turn on my screen and quickly turn it back off. But the screen turns right back on cuz it recognized my click as a fingerprint. However since it is too short to be recognized, it just turns my screen back on and says to try again. I try to turn the screen off again and the same thing. This also happens on occasions.
They need to make the power button better so that ways it does not recognize a screen turn off as a fingerprint swipe.
I have had similar problems. Rebooting has usually fixed them, at least for a while
Ever since I updated my note 4 to MM I've been having a few issues, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to my issues.
1. My phone is constantly awake, on the battery graph, the awake bar is all blue. Seems like my phone doesn't sleep at all and also it doesn't seem like any apps are keeping it awake as no apps is at a high usage percentage, only screen on time.
2. Every time I press the home button or the power button to wake my phone, the phone screen takes forever to turn on. I disabled S voice and turned off the setting for the double tap and it's still extremely slow to wake.
My phone is currently not rooted, just stock MM
If anyone has any ideas that'd be wonderful.
Thanks
Basically I double tap to wake my screen it vibrates but the screen stays black, I have to usually hit the power button a few times to get the screen to come back on. It's not a once in a while thing I'd say it's happening about 70-80% of the time. I'm on OOS 9.0.12
No issue on mine running 9.0.13 but equally was fine on 9.0.12

Weird don't know what it's deal is
I've had issues with double tap to wake since I got the phone soon after it was released. Not exactly the same as what you're experiencing. Often when I tap to wake the screen it doesn't respond at all. No vibration. Sometimes if I tap again it will wake, sometimes it won't no matter how many times I try & I have to hit the power button. I've only used the official stable releases and none of the updates have fixed this.

Thats what I get from time to time as well. Not often, just randomly...
I have this issue when the phone is in deep sleep and Smart Lock has engaged. I'm trying to running a routine that prevents Smart Lock from engaging and I've been partially successful in that. Due to the aggressive app and process killing of this phone, ordinarily Smart Lock will engage on average between 1 and 2 hours in my experience.
When the phone is not in deep sleep, double tap works just fine. I'm running OxygenOS, Pie, update 12, rooted.
