Hi All
I have a Galaxy s5 900F which is from O2 but now unlocked with code.
my question is if I put a UK stock rom on it
1. will it get the updates from Samsung or I will still have to wait for O2 to release the update i.e. marshmallow?
2. will it debrand the phone and not counted as "rooted"?
Kind regards.
1. not sure
2. probably
I've flashed BTU (UK) firmware on a WIN (italian Wind) phone:
1 - I receive official updates both with OTA and Kies3 (for BTU, of course)
2 - Flashing official firmwares not install root, then phone is not counted as rooted, and KNOX Counter not be flagged (remain 0x0)
PAY ATTENTION: flashing firmware (also officials) is considered "modding" and you are temporarily out of warranty (also with KNOX 0x0) until you reflash original branded firmware for your phone, in your case the O2U (not matters which version)
I flashed the stock rom yesterday night and got the 250mb worth security updates from Samsung so I guess yes I should receive all the updates as if it was bought unlocked.
Thanks.

Will it break OTA and Kies firmware recognition and updates after flashing from a stock German Vodafone carrier rom G900FXXU1BNL9 to UK unbranded G900FXXU1BOD3?
I've had that issue with an S1 before, but it didn't really matter as it was out of warranty.
EDIT: I think I have a semi answer if I change the CSC via the rom as I did with my S1 it disables OTA and Kies, but is it fully restored when the original CSC is restored?
Have no problem on mine, has no warranty so it's on custom rom's. While ago I rooted the stock kk on my friend n9005 and upgraded it to the last stock of the time, it is now on n9005xxugnh1 (csc: n9005huignj2) stock H3G (tre in Italy) - he wants to upgrade to stock Lollipop but the LP H3G roms are old and in my experience terrible - the most stock up to date are the unbranded ones (ITV):N9005XXUGBOK6. So here is my question: do I dirty upgrade with MOP or FF from the rooted stock branded H3G kk to the stock unbranded LP or do I have to do some steps in between like rooted H3G kk to unbranded kk (to root) and finally unbranded LP?

You can't unbrand the device like that. You will have to buy a IMEI unlock code to unbrand it.
I wrote unbrand, not unlock! The phone is not carrier locked, simply the Samsung stock rom has some apps and boot screen of the provider - none of branded n9005 I've seen here in Italy are carrier locked, not Tim, Wind, Vodafone, H3G- Mine was H3G even if it was sent me by Samsung as replacement (it was brand new) also this one was bought in a shop without a subscription to H3G

1. The latest H3G firmware is N9005XXUGBOD6 (not old). They are preparing the new update to it.
2. Unbrand is easy only if your device allow installing other CSC Code countries. How you can know them? Install this APP and take a look in CSC Code Tab -> Available CSC Codes (example in the pic attached). You can't unbrand it if there you dont' see that setting or only 1 CSC available (it means lock/branded device).
*Answering your first question if you have more CSC availables:
1. Download android 4.4.2 of the CSC that your device supports (and you selected).
2. Backup all your internal data (+ IMEI too).
3. Reset your flash counter via Triangle Away 3.26.
4. Flash the firmware of the step 1 via ODIN.
5. Update your device to Lollipop via OTA or via ODIN directly.
Well as it is stock branded and never flashed a different rom (all upgrades have been official H3G via Odin after root) it won't have any CSC in "available" - AFAIK csc has nothing to do with the IMEI, the code involved in lock/unlock a device. On mine I rooted, chanced recovery and flashed unbranded (ITV) and then custom rom (with ITV, as only a few have HUI) and have different CSC available... but when it was brand new there was only HUI (italian H3G) and nothing else - that one of my doubts: dirty flashing or not? Will it have problems from a 4.4.2 HUI csc to a 5.0 ITV and probably different pit. Personally I returned to kk, waiting for rock stable N5 port -I don't care about estetic and prefer battery friendly dark themes...
My friend wants LP, the H3G from may gave some problems on mine (battery life was terrible) - so I think the last ITV should be a better choice...
So finally you suggest to be "classical": step from actual 442 HUI rom to 442 ITV (towelroot able version, pre july 2014) and then upgrade to last LP ITV. Don't think that triangle away is needed as in case of problems a neat clean flash of H3G stock should be made...
Hello folks,
I would like to update my S7 Edge (SM-G935F) to the latest Nougat firmware which if I'm not mistaken arrived UK BTU, which is:
PDA - G935FXXU1DQB3
CSC - G935FOXA1DQB1
I would like to install it via Odin, the most stock way possible (don't want root or custom recovery), just because that I'm tired that it haven't arrived OTA in my country (PT).
But I have a few questions regarding this manually update to the latest firmware of another country:
1) Manually installing the latest update from BTU UK will stop me from receiving future OTA updates? and if no, will I be receiving the OTA updates in the future from UK or PT??
2) My device with the currently firmware has no bloatware from any network (was bought unlocked), if I upgrade to the latest firmware from BTU UK, will I still have no bloatware? (or bloat will be installed?)
3) Will I have any problem from installing a firmware from other country (being both for the same model: SM-G935F)?
Thank you very much in advance! :good:
I have everything ready to make the manual flash, just want to clear this things out before I do it.
Thanks

Each country or region has it's own CSC which can be easily flashed
by itself without the need to odin flash a different country's full firmware.
The only time you need to think about bloatware is if you flash a specific
carrier's firmware like perhaps vodaphone and most other carriers add
their own bloatwares. But if you only flash the regional firmware for your
country or region like BTU UK you will not end up with bloatware.
Good luck and happy flashing!

Future OTA's will not be a problem if you have flashed
the proper CSC for your country before trying to update
future firmwares.

So you are saying that first I should change my CSC to the UK, then flash the latest firmware via Odin and won't have to worry about future updates? Can't I simply flash the latest UK BTU firmware and it will change the CSC and get me the latest firmware in once?
I recently acquired a a40 as a temporary phone it was a BTU version and I was stuck on a older security patch.
I followed a guide to flash October patch but I've somehow flashed three (3) branding on the phone.... It's not a deal breaker as I'm on three.
Knox isn't tripped and my settings now read
H3g/h3g h3g/BTU
Am I correct in thinking I should be pushed any ota from three as they get released now?
Hello everybody, next week I will receive my new S20 (SM-G980F), but this time I accepted an offer from my carrier (Vodafone Italy) and I will get a OMN CSC variant instead of a ITV CSC generic.
I see that Vodafone time to release the updates is very slow, so I ask:
1) If I flash via ODIN the ITV firmware (2020-06-02 PDA G980FXXS2ATE7 CSC G980FOXM2ATE6 ) over the Vodafone one (2020-05-22 PDA G980FXXU2ATE6 CSC G980FOXM2ATE6), for what I understood, the CSC doesn't change, but will I have the firmware update (I mean 1 June patch with Vodafone branding stuff)?
2) If so, are the OTA updates broken or will I get ITV OTA updates? Or worst case, will I receive OMN OTA update over ITV Firmware causing issues?
3) If OTA are broken, can I manually update the new future ITV firmwares manually preserving data (like OTA) from my PC using ODIN?
My concern is not regarding about money (I can buy some samkeys if necessary), but regarding preserving the warranty and Knox (I'm using app inside secure folder and other app that check if bootloader/root is modified) because the CSC is always the same...
Thank you very much

If done correctly changing csc won't trigger knox. Your warranty will be fine.
Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
You can flash ITV firmwares each time manually if you want, but you won't get OTA until you match your active CSC with firmware CSC using Samkey, neither method trips knox
Thank you very much.
So is it possible to have the latest security and enhancement patches manually with ODIN, without losing data and warranty also if Vodafone does not rollup the OTA?
My phone remains branded, but with last firmware like a no brand one and a working Samsung PAY/Secure Folders ?

Yep, just make sure when you flash with Odin you use HOME_CSC and not just CSC along with the other sections of the firmware
HOME_CSC = No reset & keep data
CSC = Factory reset and lose data
Everything else should work fine too, just no OTA unless you use Samkey
Last question:
In case of repair and I must to give the phone on service, can I flash the original Vodafone Firmware with right CSC, making a factory reset, also if the last available firmware is a version older than actually installed?
For example: Now Vodafone Italy (OMN) mounts G980FXXU2ATE6 (rolled out at May), but I will flash G980FXXS2ATE7 (full ITV firmware with June security patch, but never - till now - rolled out by Vodafone via OTA)

Yes as long as the bootloader version is not lower than the current installed firmware
G980FXXS2ATE7 < Version 2
G980FXXU2ATE6 < Version 2
If the firmware is older but has an equal or higher BL version then use CSC to reset after the flash

I've done this thing for my S20+ with HUI (H3G Italy now Windtre).
I've tried all the possible methods to change CSC, there is no way out due to the fact the model forces the specific CSC.
If you want to change CSC, no need to reset your phone or flash weird stuff from Odin. Just get SamKey. I was skeptical, but it did the job in a second, without tripping Knox or needing root. Just don't buy the credits on their website (btw, is the .org one), they're expensive!. Go to eBay, plenty of sellers sell credits (you need the code reader version)
For me, it cost 1 Credit, so a 3 credit pack (around 5€) is sufficient.
Then just follow the procedure. You will need to eject the sim card prior and to disable screen lock while you're doing it, but other than that I can confirm it switches your phone permanently to ITV CSC and you get OTAs.
Wish you luck!
