China EMUI 4.0 B555 Beta is out, backups needed - Ascend Mate 7 General

Hi all.
has anyone from china signed up and received the B555 beta?
Can you please take a TWRP backup and share?
Thanks!

I found the link to get the OTA

anyone knows a way to make this flashable with TWRP?
I would remove the UPDATE.APP from inside the zip and flash it with TWRP (with no wipes)
but i just reinstalled my phone, can't be bothered doing it all over... :-/
PS: the update.app has the bootloader and recovery, etc, so it should be safe to flash, as it modifies the system only.

Hi Oscar.
if you have the B555 installed already, the only thing you need to do is to install TWRP and perform a nandroid backup.
no need for root to do this.

Oscar, unless you have a stock TL00 firmware and can apply without TWRP, i would not recommend to flash this.
Unless you know how to modify the zip and make it flashable..

what is the base firmware to install this beta?

not entirely sure.
I found the thread on club.huawei.com using google translate..
there's a thread for people to sign up to the beta, with the requirements..

Huawei still need to get focussed on including the world if it wants to be world class.
If they keep doing all this in China, the software will always be hobbled, no matter how good the hardware gets.

How can we do a manual update in B553? The option in the updater for local update is missing.

When TWRP ask you to install root you answer should be NO!
You install root yourself by flashing SuperSu.

So now you have a link for TWRP, superuser, and 511 stock recovery image file......what do you achieve with that and no TWRP backup files or ROM files? What is this for? Is it to fix a phone already in a boot loop after flashing from 326 to 511?
Which model phone is this for?
Thank You.

Actually I am having several problems. After I bricked my MT7-L09, I found a TWRP backup of MM that someone else posted and I restored it. It got my phone back up and running, but a couple things don't work; wifi and gps are my biggest concerns.
In the "about phone" menu, the model number is now showing JAZZ, and the build number is MT7-C900B511. Do you know how to fix the wifi or gps? Can I use a fresh copy of this ROM and reinstall it to fix it? If so, do you know how? When I looked up the location using the keypad sequence *#*#2846579#*#* it shows no file exists. The phone is rooted.
If fixing it is too difficult due to my limited skills, I'm fine starting over with KitKat, but I don't know where to get the files I need to do it.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hey guys, a long time ago i unlocked bootloader of my ALE-21 5.0.1, rooted it, and installed twrp. Is there any way i can update to android 6 now? My mom has the exact same with me and she got the OTA. Thanks in advance =)
What's your full build number: ALE-L21CxxxBxxx - i.e what are the x's in bold? And from which region / country?

Extract the files...
Then put the update.app file in folder named dload and copy that to your local storage..
After that, power off your device and then hold vol+, vol-and power key for atleast 10 seconds..
Then, the phone should start in installation mode..
Note: Check the update.app file size.. If its gratee than 2GB them the above process should work. If its less than you can do it by OTA...

amangeek, being a rooted phone, I don't think that is a wise choice. Unroot first, & then perhaps yes.
----------------------
Anyway RautMike, if you have done as above & everything is fine - well, great.
If you haven't attempted yet, do as advised in these threads instead - similar situations, so apply the same principle:
How to upgrade Huawei P8 lite [rooted+twrp]
[P8Lite] Twrp + official update
I couldn't find the full version of C432B188 firmware to download, which is required to extract the recovery file(s) needed. So, if you cannot either, you can extract the necessary file(s) from B170 (one firmware before) - the full stock rom for B170 can be downloaded from here directly via Huawei's servers.

Did you not read the threads I posted? Just follow them - no TWRP needs to be used in those methods.
Doing it that way you'll lose root, so after updating to Marshmallow you will need to re-root by reinstalling TWRP (for Marshmallow) & SuperSu: TUTORIAL - Huawei P8 Lite Android 6.0 Marshmallow B574 Root

Yes, you're right - I forgot about that!
You can get it from here perhaps: Install TWRP Recovery, Backup Full System, Android Rooting and Recovery Back to Stock (works on both Android 5/6 + L21/L23 models)
If that doesn't work, a 'forced' update does apparently (could be risky though, so make a full nandroid backup with TWRP before attempting): [INTERESTING] Updating system while rooted
Also, according to the op, "When you install update by this method, you lose TWRP, root access and all what you have flashed by TWRP."
Alright, thanks, before i flash the stock recovery, how should i make an backup? I already have one of system that i made with twrp, is that enough?
Oh, anyways, all good Thank you very much, i just flashed the stock recovery with no problems, so happy lol, thanks again!

People are saying that on this new beta, they updated knox stuff.. So.. Can hard brick your phone and root isn't working properly.. Fc apps and stuff.. So.. Stay away from this beta if u want root.. Can screw you up. Wait for devs to solve this.

The super SU is breaking your wifi, that happen to me with the nougat beta, ysou have to use magisk v9, that's what the nougat roms on here are using.

Getting back to stock EMUI super easily, almost no hassle

Hi everyone, today I will be telling you all how to get back to stock as long as your bootloader states "PHONE Unlocked" and "FRP Unlock"
You will need to install this, this is super duper important! https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
When installing, you will see the error: "E: Unknown command []]"
DO NOT BE AFRAID!
That is supposed to happen lol.
Installation procedure -
1. Flash this TWRP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18uHjW73Th8iYKIs5m_QgwleMIOjsZd7S/view?usp=sharing
2. Wipe everything except SD card, then choose "Format data" to decrypt device
3. Reboot once again into TWRP (NOTE: If you are using USB OTG cable, make sure to plug it in AFTER TWRP is fully booted and ready to go, if you do it early, you get an error, which is weird lol. EDIT: Not sure if this error is still present in the new twrp, but it's never bad to play it safe.)
4. Flash HuRUpdater, make sure the file names are correct!
5. Reboot into stock recovery
6. Factory reset and wipe cache partition
7. Reboot
This method also enables themes to work again, so no need to worry about that!
Lots of thanks to @zxz0O0 to providing this awesome tool
And more thanks to the OpenKirin community for helping me out when flashing this! :good::good::good:

(Used to say you can't update ota... but now you can lol)
EDIT: what the...
I flashed it using the method in the original post, of course, and I got an update notification to update system! So yes, updating works!!!! lol

Most likely not, the moment you unlock bootloader, you get no updates from that point forward. Just check using this for latest version: http://pro-teammt.ru/huawei-firmware-finder/

oh so i do need to follow the instructions in the other thread and download the official firmware for the 7x?
Hi !
Does it work to restore on the BND-L21C432B121 ? Because it's marked for 7X but does it works on all firmware versions of this device ?
Thanks !
hi op,
does this work on L24 the usa version?
What update.zip file did you use? can you point to the link?
Also, does this update take the recovery to stock with no TWRP?

Yes, after flashing this via twrp, if you reboot once again to recovery, it is stock recovery, not twrp.

You need to download all 3 files and rename them.

I updated using the script. Thank you.
I see the OTA update but it failed to install. Do I need to relock the bootloader?

I would assume so. I sent a support ticket to honor regarding the issue (I had the same problem as you) but I went back to custom ROMs so I can't help you here sorry.

Did you try running the update again? I had a similar problem after I unrooted and reinstalled the stock recovery. It failed the first time but when I rebooted and did it again it worked.
