New Phone...help me choose - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have had my phone going on 5 months now and I have to say it is one of the best phones that I have ever had....but lately my battery has sucked and I have tried all different things (wipe, fresh install, different kernels & roms)...and I seem to always be looking for a charger.
Before getting the 6p I always had a phone with a removal battery...and I always carried and extra battery with me...this kept my battery anxiety levels at a minimum.
So my questions is this....If you could only choose a phone with a removal battery which one would it be?

Not really the forum to ask for removable battery phones...

Get a power bank. Problem solved.

Battery 100% fix by kernal

This kernal will make the nexus s charge to 100% with the screen off, thanks to peter alfonso, I have tried it and it works great with good battery life.

It's not a fix, number is just cosmetic your nexus will still charge to 96%... It's just a tweak

If I'm not mistaken, the "charge to something about 96%" is a safety measure to increase the lifetime of the battery? Why would one want to push those last few % and lower the lifetime?

most the other kernels include it now also. and it is just a cosmetic fix.
I just don't understand if it's such a safety features why does NO other phone do it?

Other phones should do it... Just like why you shouldn't keep your laptop constantly plugged in... It'll kill your battery a lot faster

All Android phones have this "charging safety feature".
Unless you plan on using the same battery and phone for the next ten years, you are highly unlikely to notice any degradation in the battery health. I have been using one of my OEM Samsung Nexus batteries for 2 years now (it is the same battery that came with my Samsung Moment and used on an Instinct HD as well). This particular battery has been topped off on all three phones and external chargers probably 100's of times. It still charges to a full 4.19v and stays full even sitting on my nightstand for a week or two.
The "Safety mechanism" in the charging code that has been brought up over and over again is included in all Android phones. It is nothing new. The problem is that in other devices, the battery meter reads 100% when it reaches the safe full level at the batteries temperature (usually between 4.188 and 4.190). The Nexus S has an error in the driver code that causes the meter to read inaccurately(95-98%) even when the voltage reaches 4.19. I don't believe Google did this intentionally, as it would cause many misinformed people to constantly bump charge their batteries in hopes of reaching 100%. It would have made more sense to have the meter read 100% at the safe full level.
In any event, the fix for the issue is here, and already being applied to some Nexus S kernels, including the one in the OP. It's not just "cosmetic".

Bought my nexus s day one and it charges to 93%. I've noticed turning wifi on after plugging it in to charge does boost it to 98. But I always leave wifi off overnight. Don't want pesky google plus emails waking me up lol.
Overall, after nearly a year of use I'm happy with the battery life of my phone. You get used to how far you can push the phone in daily use and which settings to use.

What to do? Bad battery but brought from eBay!!

Hi everyone, I've had my nexus 4 for about three weeks now and I think I have a problem with the battery, it just seems to be draining no matter what set up I have be it ROM or stock or any kernel, its draining whether I'm using it or not, obviously it drains quicker when I'm using it but it empties at quite a quick rate, also when I'm charging it it seems to take an age to fully charge.
I don't know if its me just being silly about the whole thing but I'm certain it shouldn't be draining this quickly.
Now I don't know if I need a replacement and if I do would the fact that I brought it off eBay matter?
I'm a bit gutted cos I sold my other phone to get this one now this one is playing up and I'm not sure I can get it replaced?
Just need some advice from you guys as what to do?
Many thanks

I suggest buying a battery on eBay for the Nexus 4 and replace the battery currently in your phone. It shouldn't cost more than $40 USD.

[Q] Nexus 4 Battery drops

Having some really strange problems with my Nexus 4 battery. Sometimes my phone will completely drop out at a reasonable percentage, and be completely dead. Now lately, my phone will say 100% but after a reboot, it will say something like 50%.
I loved this phone but somehow after the OTA 4.3 update things started getting seriously messed up.
A lot of times I have Android System, and Android OS (and sometimes mediaserver as well) as leading battery drainers.
I don't understand what is going on with my phone. To fix this I rooted and flashed over Sentinel Rom because it was noted for good battery life.
But the problems from before still persist.
Here are some screenshots of what I'm finding. Please any help would be nice.
My last guess would be this is something hardware related. Could this be a battery issue? Or a wire issue?
I have opened my Nexus 4 previously.
This is driving me ballistic. I love this phone but it needs to last me a bit longer.
Thanks for all your help, lets get this fixed!!
There are some users reporting same behavior and that replacing the buttery fixed their issue.

Try calibrating the battery completely drain your phone then fully charge it

Have you solved using that method suggested? Anyway it's strange a battery lasts only a year -.-

Can my battery be the cause of a buggy/slow/force closing/pretty much ruined Note 4?

I bought a 2nd hand Note 4 and assumed it was corrupted or damaged in some way as it was:
- repeatedly restarting or just turning off
- most apps force closing
- freezing for minutes until battery taken out and replaced
- general slowness and lagging during any activity
- battery skipping whole chunks of percentage
To try and fix, I did all the usual boot methods and factory reset, but nothing worked.
Finally, today I swapped the battery with my bro's Note 4 battery, and everything seemed to be fine.. it also is fine when plugged in (with its original battery).
Could the battery quality/condition affect software performance to this extent?? Should I just buy a new battery instead of returning the phone?
Thanks
Buy a new battery.
In fact buy two, the phone is worth it.
The batteries are cheap now and once the Note 4 is properly juiced, you won't look back.

Why's the Battery Life so Pathetic?

I thought that with a bigger battery, the S7's battery would be slightly better compared to that of the S6, but it has been pathetic. I understand the battery depends on a lot of factors but this is unacceptable.
I can't use betterbatterystats as my device is not rooted. Are there any other apps I can use to figure out what the heck is going on? Obviously, I'm trying to avoid resetting the phone.
These issues really push me to the fence to consider an iPhone for the first time, and I never thought I would say that.

Post a screenshot of your battery page in settings. I had an issue with google play services draining my battery and the only thing that would fix it was a factory reset
Facebook app kills my battery. Disable that and you'll get almost double life. You can still go to it on a browser.
I have terrible battery life as well and I don't have Facebook downloaded as well as Google play services disabled for background data.
