I flashed Renovate custom ROM with a clean install. Everything was working fine and all of a sudden I am not able access the SD card in the ROM. Settings shows that SD card is ready, and I can access the SD card in Recovery. But not while booted into the ROM. The only thing I can remember doing between the installation and when I noticed the SD wasn't working was update TWRP to 3.0.1-0 via the TWRP app and install XPOSED and some modules which I have since disabled. I can just reflash the ROM again but I would like to know what caused it and if there's a more simpler solution.

Quick question...
If I install CWR via Rom Manager in an SD CM7 install does it take over the recovery partition of the SD card image or does it install to the eMMC recovery?
I'd like to keep the eMMC stock at this point since running off the SD is working so well now.
Bump...

I was wondering the same thing. Well, I haven't tried rebooting without the microSD, maybe I can do that and see if what happens or if I can boot into CWR. That would mean it's on the emmc.
edit: found the answer. It appears that once CWR is installed the emmc way, you can install updates through CWR. No SD needed anymore. That's must have been the SD card way.
It's been a while since I've worked on my daughter's NC. When she got it first, I rooted and used CM7 using the SD card method. This way she could go back to the stock setup taking the SD card out.
We then decided that we really did not use the original setup much and were always on the CM7 setup, so I did the emmc rooting. My questions:
1-I remember putting the nightly build update file on an sd card and booting through it to get the update. I can't remember if that was the SD card method or the emmc method?
2- Now that I'm rooted through emmc, to install a new nightly build or even the ICS, can I just boot into CWR and install a zip file?
Dear all,
I need your help on solving a problem I am having on my GT-i9505.
Yesterday I have tried to root the device with CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505, and it worked fine until I noticed that it was somehow very slow on phone start.
This slowdown problem was not caused by the root process because I have noticed it even before the root process.
In order to try to solve it, I have installed the CWF i9505-cwm-recovery-6.0.3.2-4, and made a backup of the system before make a full system restore (wipe data/factory reset) via CWF.
After that, the system did not started and stays on a boot loop.
Accessed the CWF again and restored the backup, but the problem remains.
After all this process, I get totally lost and tried several solutions and none of them worked.
At this moment I can only access "download mode" and CWM based recovery.
Since I am already lost, and really do not know where to go next, I ask you help on how can I solve this problem and have the phone working again.
The only data I have about the phone:
MODEL: GT-I9505
I9505XXUEMJ5 / I9505ZWAXST
I know this is an international model.
I think on downloading the stock firmware from samsung (4.2.2 or 4.3) no not know which one is advisable, but before that I really need to know if there any additional solution because I don´t even know if this will solve the problem.
Another problem is the hotfile hosting, since I connection is very unstable and will take some time to download the file.
Anyone can help me please?
Thank you in advance
Best regards
Paulo Matos
Since you already have CWM installed you may aswell download a new rom and copy it an SD card. install from recovery.

Thank you simondo12.
Do you mean, download a stock firmware from samsung for this especific model and install it from sd card?
If not, what file do you advise for my model?
Since I am unable to access the phone via android, I have tried to access the sd card from CWF. What I noticed:
- I can access the external sd card from the pc, but I cannot access the internal sd card from the pc.
- I cannot access the external sd card directly from CWF (perhaps because of it's size since it´s a 64GB), but I have access to internal sd card
Even if I copy the file to the external sd card, I will be unable to install it from CWF because I have no access to the external sd card (error on mounting external sd card). Is it the size of it?
I am trying to download the new firmware (4.3) from samsung for my model and will try to install via odin. Will I require to install the attachment that says "kernel file"? This process will take lots of time because I have an unstable internet connection for downloading via hotfile and uploaded file servers.
The problem is that I do not know if it will work because the phone is rooted and have cwf installed.
Thank you very much
Paulo
since its a 64GB have formatted it in exfat? if so then CWM may not recognize it. I would try installing Philz recovery if you are using standard CWM see if it will recognise the card. Do you have another SD card you could try?
There's not really much point in flashing a new firmware in odin if you have cwm installed. Just copy custom rom over to an SD card.

Hi symondo12,
Thank you once again.
I have alredy found the Philz thread and found a gt-i9505 version and instructions to install both from sd and from odin.
I will try and see what happens.
Regardless the custom rom, since my galaxy s4 was on 4.3, will I be abble to downgrade? Ask you that because I do not know if there is a custom rom for gt-i9505 on android 4.3.
If not, just need to copy the stock rom to sdcard and install it the same way as a custom rom?
Thank you very much for your time
Regards
Paulo

Dear symondo12,
I have changed the sd card to a 2GB sd card and CWF now recognizes it.
I will see if I can download the stock firmware from samsung and see if I can install it and solve my problem.
Additionally I found a "Pure-Google-pre-rooted-4.3-v2.3"... hope it works.
Thank you once again
Paulo
I have recently updated my retail Verizon Note 3 to MJE via an OTA update. I rooted my phone using Kingo and installed Safestrap recovery.
I have downloaded Bean's rom and put it on my SD card. But whenever I boot into recovery to flash the .ZIP ROM file, it is not found. When I boot back into my stock rom and go into the file manager, I discover the file has been deleted, along with the Safestrap APK!!!
This happens no matter where I put the files on my SD card, it doesn't matter which folder. Has Verizon put some block that automatically detects and deletes these files or what? I keep recopying the ROM to my SDCard and it keeps getting deleted whenever I boot into recovery.
Please help, thanks! :crying:
Have u switched to ur sd card after getting into reovery? Might want to reodin use kingo again, but update supersu before booting into recovery.

Are you sure your putting it on the external sd card ? With safestrap installed sd card in file manager is the internal storage

Thanks everyone, what I did instead was put the .ZIP ROM file into my internal phone storage and it shows up in Safestrap recovery and I'm able to flash it and enjoy custom rom goodness!
For some reason, I can't put the .ZIP ROM files into my SD card to flash as they disappear and are automatically deleted from the SD card when I check my SD card under Windows Explorer.
I have a T Mobile Note 3. I originally had Jelly Bean firmware. I rooted it and have gone through several custom ROMs. I was using Cyanogenmod 12 Lollipop, but today it started messing up. So, I went into recovery and wiped the data and dalvik, but that didn't help. So, I wiped EVERYTHING. Even what was on the SD card. Now, I am following steps using ODIN to install firmware again, but it isn't working.
I have gotten as far as to install CWM, but that's it.
I have CWM 6.0.4.7 installed.
I tried installing CF autoroot. I have downloaded and installed KitKat stock firmware files. Each time I try to install ODIN just says it failed.
If I could get a custom ROM on the SD card, I think I would be ok, but even though ODIN works, Windows doesn't let "see" my phone. I can't access the storage through the computer.
Someone please help. I'm stuck.

What error in odin? Just mount your SD card on a card reader, plug to a PC and put CM there. Then just flash with twrp.
