so your phone doesnt boot and you have the s6 edge plus logo flashing your face with some red text in the upper corner saying fap lock something something
first things first. your phone does charge while in download mode, so get your ass into download mode by holding the power button, menu and down at the same time
1. plug your phone to charging stuff while you wait
figured that out my self after accedentally disabling the oem thingy and restarting with about 10% left of battery
what you absolutly need to do is to calm down and head over to sammobile and
2. get the correct stock rom for your phone
3. after downloading you need to unzip the file and flash it through the ap section of the odin software, once thats done you are good to go, the phone should start up as usual and you will have all your apps and stuff waiting for you, just with stock rom, stock bootloader and stock recovery, after that you should head over to the developer section and enable oem unlock
when thats done feel free to flash a custom recovery, rom etc...
just remember, never ever ever ever ever disable the oem unlock in developer mode if you have a custom binary
you could also use the smart switch software from samsung, fiy the serial number is on the back on your phone and is pritty hard to read and your model number can be found in the download mode

So i don't know exactly what has happened to get here. I have a new Verizon Galaxy S5 that I Towel Rooted and installed Safestrap. Things were going fine and I made a nandroid backup of my Stock slot. I decided to try Alliance rom in slot 1 which all went fine and i booted into Alliance. I was customizing my phone with colors and clock position etc. Some of the icons weren't there anymore so I decided to reboot to get everything loaded back in. Well when i hit reboot the screen went black and nothing came back on. Now when I turn it on I get the Galaxy S5 splash screen and blue words at the top saying "RECOVERY BOOTING...." then it shows the Android with it's chest door open and the globe spinning, then it goes to the Android laying down with a red triangle over its chest door, and then reboots. It just loops like this. Does this mean my bootloader is corrupt? Or can I Odin flash the stock firmware and PIT?
If your bootloader was corrupt, you'd either end up on the secondary bootloader page or have a nonresponsive, brick for a phone.
So corrupt bootloader was just your guess? Because I don't see any evidence for that yet. You've ended up on the Recovery mode page or at least that is what your description sounds like (a screenshot or photo would have been good). More than likely something is just messed up in your Safestrap or custom recovery configuration.
The most obvious options would be to either check and/or reinstall Safestrap /your custom recovery. Or if you prefer, revert to full stock, then proceed from there.
The last part that you wrote is unclear.. but you imply that you can't do a normal boot at this point? Can you boot to download mode then? Pull your phone battery for ten seconds.. then press and hold the volume down key, then the home key also and then the power key. You should boot to the black download screen that shows your Knox status. If this works, then you can flash a full stock firmware from there with Odin to stabilize your system.
.
Thanks fffft for your response.
As it turns out you are correct in that the bootloader is not corrupt because I can get to download mode. I tried flashing the stock firmware back on through Odin, but that didn't work, it still just looped. What finally did work is this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880 Thanks to Misterxtc. It must have needed the PIT as well.
when trying put the phone in download mode by pressing Volume down, Home and Power buttons phone goes into factory mode and the choices in there are:
Auto Test
Manual Test
Item Test
Test Report
Debug Test
Clear eMMC
Version
Reboot
When i do Volume up and power i get to a screen with an android on his back his chest open and a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it. i know its android recovery but it cannot flash roms.
all i want to do is put a recovery on this phone. Ive already rooted it with kingroot so its rooted just need a recovery and a new rom for the one that came on this phone is horrible!!!
Ive tried downloading twrp supersu etc from play store installed them and when they try to install recovery or su they say they cannot.
also have installed all the different usb drivers ive found for samsung and odin
btw my pc is a decade old windows xp dinosaur
Thanks for any assistance in getting to put a recovery on.
wow did not think this would stump the xda community. anyone can tell me of another way to get a recovery on it would be great
Getting recovery on my N9108v wasn't a problem. I didn't see those options you mentioned. I must say I hate my phone but I have no problem getting to download mode. I guess at least the latest firmware is an improvement... but I had to reinstall everything because of a Google issue. Sigh.
Ok, here's what I do - I connect my phone to the computer using samsung usb connector - I press home key and press down volume, while powering up. A screen with chinese and a yellow triangle appear. I then press volume up and it goes into downloading mode and connects to Odin. That simple ... Maybe your phone is not a N9108v or is a copy? Maybe it's your kings thing software and choice of TWRP
I didn't use Kings whatever - I used the chainfire thingy and a chinese derived and downloaded CWM. Never bothered with TWRP for this phone as I doubt anyone has cared enough to make a version work on it. The N9108v is a dud in terms of anyone actually developing anything on it. I HATE THIS PHONE. I am eagerly awaiting the Xiaomi 5 or some other phone- almost went the ONeplus 2 - that can set me free and back to messing around and having fun with brilliant developer ROMS. Oh and did I mention I hate this phone! I know now that I cannot suffer another Samsung or any other phone that is made for the Chinese community that has no developer community.
Anyway, After Chainfire rooting - From Odin you can flash the recovery of choice, right? I think you only have CWM as a choice.
Then it is home button and up volume at the same time to get into your new recovery... Not easy to do first up, but once you do it a few times, it becomes stupidly easy.
So, put my son's SM-T580 on the charger last night, it was fine (he's been using it for months), woke up this morning to it boot looping. It will not get past the initial boot screen and has that annoying red text 'Custom Binary Blocked by FRP Lock' in the upper left corner. It will not boot recovery. I can only boot to the bootloader. Of course, I can't flash anything using ODIN because of the FRP lock. I'm thinking the only options I have is to try flash a stock ROM / Recovery back onto it and start over but I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen or heard of anything like this before I do that. Thanks.

The only thing that I can think of is that someone, somehow disabled the OEM Enable setting in /Developer options. This is what trigger the FRP lock.
You will need to hold Vol-, Home and Power buttons to boot to download mode and use Odin to flash a stock ROM. Then you will need your the Google Login and Password that is registered to the tablet. If you don't know those, you're in a heap of trouble.
As soon as you get stock up and running, the first thing to do is enable the developer options and make sure that OEM is enabled. After that you can flash TWRP and custom ROMS.
If you don't know the Google info, the tablet CAN be salvaged, but it is a complicated process.

This is what I was afraid of. It is my sons tablet so I have all his Google info. I would not be surprised if he somehow reset the developer options. He'll lose some of his game progress but that's nothing compared to losing the whole tablet. Thanks for the reply. Off to download a stock rom and start over.
Hi, I bought a second hand zte axon 7 a2017. I want told it was rooted or anything. Power button is squashed in so got it for cheap so bought it. Phone runs fine on stock rom and for restarting etc I use mi pop and power button can still be used by poking it hard at an angle with stick etc. I'm familiar with rooting, flashing etc but it is the first time I'm using zte so it's bit different.
Issue is I want to root it to get rid of bloatware etc. I downloaded Root Check app and it says it is rooted and busybox is installed but there is no super user app. Funny thing is I have no means to check if bootloader is unlocked and can't even boot to bootloader mode as it just gets stuck at zte logo when I try to boot to bootloader mode from recovery mode. I get to recovery mode by restarting the phone from mi-pop and holding the volume up button. I don't even think there is custom recovery installed too which I don't know how that's possible as my understanding was custom recovery needs to be installed earlier in order to root.
Can someone please throw some light and give me some guidance. I want to go full stock but rooted and want custom recovery too just so that i can make a nandroid back up.
I'm on Mi favor 4.0
ZTE_A2017V1.0.0.B07.0
Thank you in advance
I'm on the US variant so I'm not too familiar with yours. I would suggest starting from stock, and downloading MiFlash, and the latest MiFlash edl package for your variant.

Okay, couple o' things:
- If your bootloader is unlocked, there should be a screen when your turn on the phone that says 'Your phone can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader' which is there for around 10 secs. If you use the volume buttons from there you should be able to select recovery or bootloader
-It is possible that you don't even have a working bootloader mode. IN CASE THAT YOU DON'T HAVE THE SCREEN I PREVIOUSLY TALKED ABOUT, try with adb: install adb, enable usb debugging, authenticate in the phone, "adb reboot bootloader". If it reboots into the bootloader (Should say START in green plus some text) then you can unlock the bootloader. But follow a guide before attempting that, or you'll risk a brick
-Having the stock recovery doesn't necessarily mean that the phone is not rooted. If you have the stock recovery it could be because the previous owner simply rooted it, used it, then flashed the stock recovery and sold the phone like that. Which is really weird in itself
-What you should do to recover from this mess is use MiFlash. Find a package called "A2017_NOUGAT_FULL_EDL" (might have a version number somewhere, just use the most recent). Enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging, then issue "adb reboot edl". The phone seems off but it's not. Now unpack the file and install it to the phone with MiFlash.
After you reflash the system you can proceed with a guide. If you get the warning screen when you turn on the phone then your bootloader is already unlocked and you can proceed with installing TWRP (maybe via axon7tool) then flashing Magisk.
Hi. Browsed for ages and always come here for answers.
Here's my problem.
2x S8s. SM-950f.
Updated to most recent software through software update. Both phones were glitchy and crashing and just generally irritating after.
Factory data reset etc. This did not resolve the problems, also led to one of them having issues with FRP (annoying)
Used Odin to try and flash the latest firmware (from sammobile, UK BTU) after flashing both, they reset and powered on. Got stuck at the S8 screen.
Restarted then both were at the "an error occurred during update" screen.
Managed to get back to download screen. Re checked the software and model numbers, even that the bootloader was the correct version etc. All was fine.
Connected to Odin, shows that it is connected, but nothing happens when clicking start.
Now after attempting that, both phones will not power on.
(One will when placed on the wireless charger, but just sticks at S8 screen) and download mode or reset screen can not be accessed. So, not exactly happy. And totally out of ideas
Any suggestions, beyond taking it to a shop to see if anyone can help.
yes .....dont tuch the phones for 24 hours let the battery die ...it will...connect to pc and then try download mode....u may need to press combination for like 1 minute to get to download mode....flash twrp reboot directly into it when odin says successfully .....wipe system data ....dont turn on phone download any custom rom flash and enjoy.....it will trip knox but worth than getting a new board....
Okay, will give that a try.
TWRP?
TWRP install
https://dl.twrp.me/dreamlte/twrp-3.2.3-0-dreamlte.img.tar.html: Download link for twrp SM-G950F (dreamlte)
Just said, wait until your device powers off due battery insufficience. Plug cable and hold at the same moment vol(down)+bixby+power. Then press vol(up) at the warning screen to proceed to odin mode. Let it charging a while like 1 h. Then unplug it and plug it to your pc. In Odin select ap the previous downloaded file. Take your mobile in your hand. With one hand, prepare your fingers to vol(up)+bixby and with the other hand start the flashibg process. Be careful, and take your hand directly from the mouse if you clicked start in odin, and position your one finger to power button, but dont click. If odin start pass, press immidiately the buttons (vol(up)+bixby+power) and let it to start into recovery. If you arrived to recovery, reply to us if not search for help!!!
Good luck
memreb
Still trying to get them on. Powered on to download mode but only for a couple of seconds and switched off again.
Can't get them to power on. Buggered

Am I being dumb.
No files appear that Odin will recognise.
Also just shows as "recovery" no .tar or anything
Ignore above. Corrupted download.
Sorted.
Now when flashing TWRP is gets to a fail due to
"Complete (write) fail

Not sure what stage your at and maybe some more useless ideas
1. Trying to flash twrp is kinda of useless if you can't get into your system need oem unlock for that.
2. Have you tried taking out Sim card and SD card and reboot.
3. If you can at least boot try smart switch as it has a emergency recovery option.
4. Trying rebooting in safe mode.
All been attempted
