How to change IMEI Number? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
My imei number is all zero. And i don't have signal right now! How can i change it? I have rooted galaxy s5 g900k.
Thanks

did u backup ur efs folder? or back up ur rom?

Nobody on here is going to tell you how to change your IMEI number. In the majority of the world, this is classed as illegal, as such XDA will have NO PART of any discussion of this topic.

If you didn't make a backup of your EFS partition, afaik, there is no fix (we can help you with) other than taking your phone to a repair shop

As already posted changing IMEI is illegal so unless you have EFS back up you can't be helped. Please don't ask again

On a lighter note --
Steal someone's efs backup, flash it, generate/get a valid IMEI from one of those sources who were doing good business during the "Chinese Phone" fiasco in India and force feed that IMEI

should i use the efs which is of only g3 one's or can i use any android one's???
Srinivas buddy - i would like you to note that i am no techno whiz and therefore my comments on this problem may also be taken with a pinch of salt. If i had to hazard a guess, i would surely try a efs backup from G3 rather than any other phone. The problem which will arise after you have flashed the efs & its succesfully working, is that there will be potential conflict of the IMEI in case both phones are active. Therefore, it is imperative to change the IMEI at once - and people do say that getting a valid IMEI is possible
To repeat myself - i am in no way responsible for any damage which may result from the above and hope that the DEVs have a better solution than my wild-ass theory

ok...but im a little bit confused...can u clearly explain me...sorry for that
What i mean is that when you "borrow" the efs backup from another phone and flash it to yours - then both the phones will have same IMEI since both carry the same efs information. This may cause problems when both the phones are active on the cellular network and i believe it may also be illegal. Therefore, it is important that you should get a new IMEI number as soon as possible.
Please remember that this is all guesswork and not recommended. However, if you dont care about possibly bricking your phone then atleast choose a efs backup from a phone which is exactly the same model as yours & running the same build / firmware + consult the DEVs before this

i don't know wheather it will work or not, but just try this,
copy and paste efs folder of some other galaxy 3 to system folder using root explorer and edit .imei file with text editor and type your imei which will be there in bill or it will be on box and save it.

Check the above link and get yourself a valid/genuine IMEI number instead of getting into trouble!
if everything else fails, flash the official eclair and update it to froyo via kies. then take it to a samsung centre and say you lost your imei during official update through kies. they ought to fix it

I think its pretty much worth a try, to be completely on the safe side u could just flash a firmware with bootloader, when Odin is at bootloader flashing pull the USB cable and the battery, your phone will be a brick then. Just go to service center and tell them that it didn't turn on after a firmware update with kiss.

Deleted folder EFS and the backup EFS files

Hello
One user here in the CZ came to a complete folder with EFS and backup files.
Telephone module, therefore, does not work.
Is there any solution?
Thanks
I think you may need to send it back to Samsung - you need the nv_data.bin.md5 file in /efs to get the correct IMEI number for your handset - without this I don't think you can get your IMEI back?
And please don't post requests for help in the Dev forum either, k?

No solution if you wiped EFS and have no backup of EFS .
Return phone to Samsung for repair .

And what about nv_data.bin from another phone ? IMEI collision ?
Return phone to Samsung for repair - its another option to change mother board or not ?
If you have no backup, that's a warranty job, and they will likely decline to fix under warranty since it was caused by user stupidity.

That may end up before the courts of law as IMEI manipulation is an offence .

Doesn't help. You need the actual matching files from efs.

There are people who know how to generate correct nv_data file
It can be done with i5700 and with i9000, I guess i9100 won't be so different

[Q] IMEI changed, really ?

Hi,
"playing" with ROMs i noticed that the IMEI of my Galaxy has changed from the original to the new 00499XXXXXXXXXX .
It works perfectly both phone and internet, but I have a question: the new IMEI is the real IMEI sended to my operator or it's only a displaying issue ?
Thanks for help.

The IMEI is some sort of engineering mode, It will go back to original if you restore the /EFS folder, Or flash back to froyo.
Dont know why this happens, but its happened to me a few times. I dont know what is displayed on your carriers side
I know this guy, who knows another guy who has a blacklisted SGS, He fcuked about with the IMEI until it went funny (00499XXX.......) and it works perfect with any sim card.
Perhaps its untraceable ??? I would suggest reverting to your original IMEI just in case, As tampering with IMEI is illegal in most countries

Repair imei i9505?

Do you guys think the method for reparing imei for the Qualcomm Verizon and AT&T galaxy s3 works the same way for i9505 since the i9505 is qualcomm?

Nope. The phone is right now an expensive multimedia player.
Let's see if we can sort it.
If it's in warranty why not just give it to service center

I have difficulties understanding how come nobody has managed to understand the efs folder deeply, especially regenerating the correct imei which is the crook in most cases. Because as i see it, the nv_Data.bin is regenerated when deleted, but the imei is in developer mode which needs to be corrected.
Where have you been xda hackers all these years Someone needs to decrypt the nv_data.bin
I haven't asked him if he can send it to service center. Probably.
oh yeah, i forgot, we have rooted it and flashed another fw. Wouldn't the service center be suspicious why the imei is broke and figure out we have rooted it = warranty void?
Yes they will. But before you take it to them there is nothing to stop you resetting the flash counter with Triangle Away (latest version works with I9505) before flashing the original firmware with Odin. If it's a genuine firmware it won't increase flash count. You will then have a stock unmodified phone with a corrupt IMEI.

Repair Samsung Galaxy S4 IMEI – Fix Galaxy S4 GT 19505 IMEI error

After repair my phone from bad boot, as it was stuck on the attached image i repair it through kies. but now it's showing IMEI problem. it's showing NULL
That's forced download mode. First thing you need to do is flash a stock rom (preferably for your carrier) with Odin. Then, if you're lucky, you may get your IMEI back. If you don't & you don't have an EFS backup, it's either a service centre or local mobile repair shop job.

That was only for samsung galaxy s4 I9500 not for I9505.
I had this problem when I first got my s4 I flashed a ROM everything went fine I booted up and imei was null, so what worked for me was booting back into recovery and wipe everything and restored my backup and all was good again!!

No one that is smart will share their IMEI code with an other person. I would highly recommend that nobody should share their /efs backup.

If you don't have backup then you should get acces to a samsung box: http://z3x-team.com/
If that doesn't work then you have damaged hardware.
