I want to set shutter speed at 30 sec like on my old g4 but i can't find an app that allows me do that. I tried manual camera and pro shot but the minimum shutter speed is only 1/5 sec

Proshot has "light paint" mode which allows longer shutter speeds...
Nexus 6P seems to be limited to 1/5 (0.2s).

Thanks but it's not what I want (with g4 i can photograph a night sky full of stars for example.)...dp you know if these .2 sec are an hardware limitation or if it is software? If it's the second may someone CAM change this!

It's currently impossible on the 6p. The hardware has been locked down. Devs can't change that. Like I just finished telling someone else, take it to Google...maybe they'll listen if enough people complain.

i used an iphone 4 to take some pictures and I have to say their shutter speed is quite quick. Any way to get the Epic to do the same without quality loss?
Hello,
Actually, the camera on the Epic is plenty capable of taking VERY rapid shots.... Go to the Menu while in camera mode and tap on CONTINUOUS SHOT. Then hold the shutter button down, and you'll see
. Try different aftermarket, specialty camera apps and you'll see as well.....like ACTION SNAP.
Thanks,
Matt!

im not positive but i assumed thats what iso is for , it controls your shutter speed

Our phones already take action shots seamlessly. Maybe I'm thinking that's something else. Here's one I just took of my coworker leaving the office done on the Epic.
does anyone know what that dang add me thing is on the stock camera app?

iso controls light sensitivity. high iso = high noise, but required for dark pictures.

...I dont know how it is on the iPhone, but I cant take continuous shots at high resolutions... I need an iphone to compare... maybe the the 5MP shots are taking long cuz of the save time.
Do you all recommend to set your camera to superfine, fine, or normal?

I keep mine at superfine. It only affects your storage.

"Photoshop" your self into another picture.
0. turn on add me.
1. Take a picture of a field
2. take a picture of your self.
3. It outlines you, and merges you into the other picture
...it does this horribly I might add.
Anyone know how to decrease the intensity of the led? I can't take a self shot in low light without the led setting me retinas on fire.

dude! Triplets?
Is there any way to increase the camera shutter speed? I want to capture pictures faster and clearer. Pictures I'm taking seem to have a tendency to blur if I don't have completely steady hands. It seems even slower than my GS2, and much slower than my gf's Note 2. I've tried some apps such as the highly rated procapture and camera fv-5 but with unsatisfying results. I just want to get more out of my phone not trying to insult the Nexus 4 or anything...so don't flame me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I agree with you. I wish to use the stock camera app. as it uses complete screen without any cluttered menus but its shutter speed is very slow..due to its focusing. I know ppl will flame by saying it needs time to focus but why does it has to be with Nexus 4 only? All other high spec'd phones cameras take shots very quickly. The hardware is of course very capable...its just the scripting of stock app I guess.
Moreover for the shaky pics.I use third party Cam Apps like Camera FZ Zoom and ProCapture (tried a few others too but they were just ok), the pictures turn out to be better than stock.
If only this is fixable, i have missed so many shots because of such long period to focusa nd then take a pic. Infact by the time that is done, i end up getting hazy pics anyways.
No. If there is someone hasn't come up with one. The specs of the camera is determined by the hardware and the software probably already uses it to its full capability despite other options which can be set by the user in the camera app.
I agree that the camera tends to default to slower shutter speeds. Of course faster shutter speeds raise ISO which results in more noise.
What was unsatisfactory about your experience with FV5. My recollection is that it allows you to hard set the ISO higher which will result in faster shutter speeds.
Also the 'action' mode on the stock camera will try to use faster shutter speeds as well.

No matter what I do, it's just really slow. I really think it's just the camera's not that amazing. It's satisfactory and is be able to to take pictures though; I guess that's what counts. I mean this was a budget phone, how can you sell it for 349 off contract, that's amazing. You have to skimp somewhere. Doesn't hold a candle to the Note 2 though sadly. That phone can burst shot a whole bunch of pictures in a millisec. I hope I'm wrong though and our developers can figure out a way to improve this phone's camera.

Download FAST BURST CAMERA from app store. It will not only give you BURST MODE but also crazily increase the shutter speed. Try it.

I realized, that when you put the scene mode to sunset mode. the shutter speed will stick at 1/20 all the time. which is pretty good.
will be my default mode from here now on. dont worry about the white balance. its pretty ok.
Tittle pretty much sums it up
I'm getting more and more interested in the 6p and I'm curious about this detail about the camera.
Thanks in advance
Maybe I'm calling things out by the wrong name. What I mean to know is the maximum long exposure time possible with the 6p

I'm kinda interested in this, but usually I've driving my Nikon D810 with an app on the phone to do long exposures and focus stacking.
I just don't know the camera APIs in Android. Looking forward to where this goes. The downside with phones are the itty bitty sensors and the amount of noise generated during long expsoures. The bigger sensor in the 6P should help a little.
Itsy bitsy is the key here, in both sensor and pixel size.
In a pinch, the 6p looks like it's ok in marginal light, but nothing even close to a d810.
For quality, stick with the real camera.
I didn't feel like paying $3 for an app I won't use but the slowest shutter speed on L Camera is 1/6 sec.

Google Opinion Rewards. I haven't paid for an app in nearly 2 years.
Anyone with the Phone tried it out?
With Manual camera or another who works the same, FV5 Camera I think

Oh I use GOR but I generally save my rewards for media and apps that I would use.
also - the phone comes with $50 in play credit. i think manual camera will be one of the first apps i buy. lol.
I think I saw that a reviewer mentioned it only went up to 1/5 sec in Manual Camera. Plenty for hand held shots, but I wish it went out further for tripod use.
That seems like very little even my nexus 5 goes up to 0.8s (still not that much)
Hello,
I just found out, that the longest shutter speed on the S8 is only 10 seconds.
Even on my old OPPO R7 Plus the max. shutter speed is 30 seconds (which is best fort low-light/night photography).
Is there a work-around or maybe a modified app, which enables longer shutter-speeds on the S8?
Thank you!
yea samsung manual mode sux hard use lg g4,5,6

Get a tripod and layer 3+ shots
Unless you find someone who's able to recode the camera app, or add a new shooting mode you can get your phone steady, turn off image stabilization and take some shoots with a 10 second shutter speed. You can layer them on the PC and achieve a similar effect, plus you can try the RAW-Mode of your phone... (tell me if it's any good)!:good:

Open the zero mod camera app,
And change the shutter speed of 10s become the one you like. Mine changed to 30s

You can only achieve light painting/light trails effect through this way. If the exposure doesnt remain for more than 10 second you won't be able to get bright picture and hence less details. The point is to capture as much info and not the light trailing.
As far as i know, there is no way. Yes there's one way but i wouldn't consider rooting my phone for it. Extremely stupid of Samsung here. Even the cheaper brads such as oppo etc has longer shutter time. Also it's a shame that upto Galaxy note 10 it's not supported
In case u r trying to achieve this you can you intervalometer app and stack these images. Check the attached image. Captured on note 8
Our original camera has shutter speed of 1/15s..I tried several others camera to make it more longer but none of it can make it more better. It's there any way we can longer this time?
I used Arnova's Gcam and it gets 1/10 or even 1/8, don't know how much this is true...

Yes with Gcam it can go upto 1/8th of sec for Back and 1/4th of sec for front cam but it have focus issue in very dark condition for distant objects.
The point is to increase the shutter time almost twice we can do now.I see some cheap Huawei device can have like more than 4s of shutter speed.
Well, honestly I don't know if there is a way to make it longer, probably is, but no one is bothering with it. I would like to see someone try
