So I am looking for a completely debloated stripped down ROM that will work with my Gear 2. I have tried many ROMs TW, AOSP. I like how clean the AOSP ROMs are but Im not ready to give up my Gear 2. Anyone have a good suggestion?
Use any of tx's roms and use titanium back up to freeze or remove any app you want. I freeze just incase I mess something up.

Here at xda rooting is highly encouraged, but what if you don't want to jump ship enjoy what your s3 can do without voiding your warranty in some cases.
Here is what you can do :
1- Widget locker
This app is one of my personal favourites you can customise your lock screen as much as you like add desktop widgets toggles change the sliders etc etc you get the picture.
2- flip fonts
One of the hidden features of the s3 is the ability to change the font type to anything you want there is a thread on the apps and themes section just for that by bala_gamer
3-Custom launcher
These are great want to look like an iPhone no problem there is a launcher for that windows 8 sense they are all available just do a Google search some of them even support themes customise it to your liking
4-custom keyboards
These are amazing the number of keyboards out there is stunning and they have unlimited variations you can swipe to type tap change the colours and themes
5-live wallpapers
These will make your phone come to life from a Facebook and Twitter feeds to simple clocks that you can interact with they are all available
I hope I helped I will be updating this with more apps and links and pics soon

My phone is rooted and I customise the hell out of it, this is for people who don't want to root XD
Throwing it against the wall personally, and buying a 9305 instead like I will.
Needs moar ram.
Or wait for s4

True, but can't buy s4 for some reason s3 lte will be just fine though.
Great thread. Rooting isn't for everyone.

Prove it.
why spend $500 on a phone and not take full control over it? having bloat is very annoying and running apps that require root is amazing.
sent from where i'm at.
Because some people buy a phone and just want it to work. Rooting takes a lot of time if you actually read all the instructions and precautions
No root then no XDA Developers forum exists .
Instead you have a fix my phone my phone is cooler than your phone forum with few posts .

Having a Non Rooted S3 is like having Ferrari FSD (For Sunday Drivers) with speed limiter on board and half of the features disabled.... You can drive it but you'll never know what the real fun is It's good idea for people who can't drive but fancy hot ride same applies to Non Rooted S3 (or any Android device)

I've replied to that question above
I hate touchwiz... so rooted and flashed a new rom, but i want the samsung camera? is this possible is there an APK? please and thank you
If you flashed an aosp ROM you'll never get the Samsung camera working. You should really search cause this had been talked about so many times it'll make your head spin!

as mention on the first reply, the samsung camera will not work on any AOSP launcher and etc.
the Sasmung Camera apk needs the TWLauncher in order for it to work.

maybe i should grab breakfast. hahaha
Maybe instead of flashing aosp rom. Could you not keep tw rom. Install a launcher with aosp theme. This way you get aosp look and feel while still keeping the stock camera mate.
Just a thought

If you hate touchwiz you should not buy a samsung galaxy s4??
Skickat från min GT-I9505 via Tapatalk 2
I remember when people used to ask about the HTC apps being able to be transferred to AOSP yes it's possible in theory but no one will do it because of the ever changing updates and such and also the fact it's a lot of framework to change, however if it was done it would be seriously good, also i'm sure Samsung probably would say something along the lines of a lawsuit if we did manage to port it all over.
Hello just switched from i5 to my new galaxy S4 I did own a nexus 4 in the past one of the best phones I've ever had.
But I'm not feeling the touchwiz on this s4 everything seems confusing and complicated not a fan of the Samsung apps aswell. How can I make this more simple like the nexus 4 for example
PS heard about rooting but never done it before
Can you guys help please

You could try a new launcher before rooting if you want to start out slow. Nova is pretty nice for example.
Here's a good place to start reading about rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803

You can try out the i9505G rom.. Pure nexus experience. However if you've never rooted or flashed a rom before I suggest you install one of the many launchers available in the play store. Nova launcher is one of the best ones out there.
Hi, I had exactly the same issue, recently switched from iOS to HTC Sense 5 and now to S4. I personally hate touchwiz and find it unusable but love the s4 hardware, so I tried several launchers which did not really address my issues with TW. Without any experience and a bit of research I rooted my phone, installed a custom recovery and flashed GE 4.3 Rom. Works flawlessly, except for a battery drain which is going to be fixed soon.
I highly recommend this - definitely the best phone I've used.

I will flash the google edition rom when google actually release it ''officially'' for the GT0i9505. I have read somewhere on this board that they wanted to do this @ a later date.
Start out slow with a custom launcher like Nova Prime and then read up on rooting and flashing, once you feel comfortable, flash the GE rom and enjoy the AOSP feel.
Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I recommend Nova Launcher if you don't know about flashing Custom ROMs. otherwise Jamal did a pretty good job at his 4.2.2 GE ROM for the i9505.

Hello one and all!
Is anyone interested in porting over [non-touchwhiz] Cyanogenmod to our lovely Galaxy S5?
This phone would be so fantastic running smooth AOSP-like android 4.4.
If anyone would like to, I'd be so very happy. I can't do it myself as unfortunately my coding experience lies in HTML/PHP and the web in general.
As thanks for whoever helps me in this, I can provide hosting for some projects of theirs.
If you're reading this, even if you cannot help, post/vote to show your interest in seeing this accomplished!

According to the Cyanogenmod website, they're working on the S5 right now. Give it a couple of weeks I guess and until then, my S5 is sitting on the shelf and I'll continue with my Nexus 5. Even with better specs, the S5 on TW is clunky and laggy compared to the AOSP based Nexus 5.
Cm is even clunky on the nex5 when u compare it to true aosp ROMs like slimkat or paranoid android.

Yeah, I've still got my SIM in my S3 for now- running nightlies of CM.
And I've just noticed that post- looks like they posted that at the same time I posted this.

Do you know that Paranoid Android is running a CM base? Or did they finally split off completely?
Anybody know if features such as finger print scanner, TV remote control and heartbeat monitor will work on aosp?

Those will be something that you would have to add in to AOSP Android.
That being said, all bar the fingerprint scanner have apps already in one form or another in the Play Store.
I rooted my note 4 and i have decided to keep it fully stock. I liked the battery life straight out the box, Jo issues at all. Froze all the bloat... Have some exposed module for costumization, I'm happy with stock right now. No lags or issues.

I always keep my Note series stock and rooted. I think this is the best of both worlds. Least amount of bugs, and all the features of touch-wiz and the spen. I throw on Nova Prime for the launcher and i'm good to go for the next few years.

Looks I will be joining you. I never had a note phone previously came from s4 and I got to say I'm impress with the note 4 I love the build quality, and the S pen is great. But I'm not sure why someone would buy this phone to later install aosp to me it makes no since. I believe the power of this phone is the Spen which I imagine it only works on TW.
I'm running xposed with few modules and apex pro.

Yeah, I definitely love the build quality. I love holding the phone as it feels extremely premium. Can't get over the screen and the sharpness either as well as the fast charging lol. I use spen with papyrus daily for work. Too many things to praise but yeah, you get the point. ^_^
