Hello all you consumers and developers,
As you may or may not know, everyone trying to update to Windows Phone 8.1 via the Developer Preview got the dreaded 80183309 error, which means "The update was download, but couldn't be opened".
I took a risk and installed the Russian ROM people were talking about at the Microsoft Community and check the post by FedorMaslak - translation required Russian - English) on page 43.
Here is how you do it:
Step one - Flash the ROM using the tools in the forum entry above.
Step two - Download General Distribution Release 2 (GDR2) OTA via phone update
Step three - Download Preview for Developers
Step four - Activate the Preview for Developers and install GDR3.
Step five - Once installed, you will see Update 1/2 installing on your device, this is for preparation for WP8.1
Step six - Check for updates and Windows Phone 8.1 will install!
I have made a video with WP8.1 running on the Huawei Ascend W1, which is available by searching RYANODONNELLUKF on YouTube.
(Sorry, XDA-Developers wouldn't let me post outside links...)
What tool?

thank you for the link, but i've tried to flash my phone following the steps. The first step it's ok, but when i try to launch the file wp8cruu.exe gives me the following error: "Cannot open device "Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device" Error 109. So i thought to install directly the 8.1 but for installa this rom i need the .app file of the rom. If do you know a method to install directly the rom without the extension .app, please tell me. Sorry for my english and thank you for the support.
I finally resolved doing the procedure in another computer with windows 8.1 64 bit. Befor i've used windows 7 64bit and in the second step was impossible to continue. Thank you again for the support.
Hello,
Since there are many users eagerly waiting to get Windows Phone 8.1 and don't know how to flash a ROM on the Huawei Ascend W1, I decided to do a quick video-tutorial. It is basically the same as WojtasXDA's guide, but easier for less advanced users to understand.
DOWNLOADS
Windows Phone 8 SDK and Developer Account
Qualcomm USB Driver
Qualcomm USB Driver (for manual installation)
Simple I/O Driver (unsigned)
Qualcomm Support Tool
Custom Bootloader
Windows Phone 8.1 Update-ROM (GDR1)
Custom ROM incl. Flashing-Tool
You can find a full written-guide here.
Hope you like it!
Best Regards,
error0x0000034

Hello, the files you indicated are not all available anymore. I am concerned if I can use only partial files to do this upgrade. I can show you what I was able to download and if you can advise if what I have is sufficient to do the upgrade, that will be greatly appreciated. However, I cant upload a screen capture of what I was able to download. How can I upload a screen capture for your review ? Thx. [email protected]

ROM Updates
ROM Updates
International TL10 ROM. Tested work on Chinese MT7-TL10. Comes with complete default Google APPS and no other HUAWEI APPS.
http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=32364
However, the support of International MT7-TL10 will have a delay compared to the Chinese version. Your choice!
@azoznet submitted this easy method for getting the unlock code for MT7-L09. Thanks to our Saudi forum member!
Quote begins:
First go to the following page
Huawei Product ID Generator.rar
download Huawei Product ID generator down and starting this.
Product Model selects Huawei Y300-0000 from her and give in your IMAI Product IMEI of your mate 7 L09
Next, you go on
EmotionUI - Unlock Bootloader
Scroll down and Click on the hook, and then click Next
On the next page you do the following
Product type: Smartphone
Product model: Huawei Y300-0000
Product SN: serial number of your Mate 7
Product IMEI / MEID: IMEI of your Mate 7
Product ID: your number from the Product ID generator
Then you give the Captcha and sends all off.
Now at the end of your unlock code should be generated
Hello,
thanks for the post !
But I am stuck right at the beginning. AdbDriverInstaller requires the device to be connected. If I connect it, it is only detected by the software if I use 'Hisuite' mode from the USB menu. And then the drivers would not install saying that drivers are not compatible with win8.1 x64. I'll try on a win7x32 tomorrow and post update.
thanks
@glycero Yes, try it on WIN7 or download a compatible ADB driver for WIN8. Let us know how it works.
device rooted !
I used this universal driver for adb : I am not allowed to post external links so just search for adb windows 8 and the first reply in Google is fine.
If others are willing to follow the above instructions, bear in mind that the SuperSU application provided is in Chineese.... You may prefer another one.
Great, thanks
here is the link : https://plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/BQ5iYJEaaEH for universal ADB
@glycero Thanks!

The appearance of Android don't change, you only can run apps that need Root permissions. If you want to update you can flash the factory recovery and root again after update.
Video-tutorial
First I wanna thank you all for this guide.
Second, if someone could just upload a video guide to youtube.
A step by step tutorial.
I think this will help everybody.
Thanks
Did you try root your L09 on Windowds 8.1 x 64 ? I had some problems on this platform.
If you guys have a specific question, please describe it in detail and we and other xda members may solve that for you. We, LeHarbour.com, will not be able to standby in this forum 24x7, but we will definitely check this periodically.

So, yah Windows XP is better for rooting and other stuff.

We perform root on WIN7 X64. Maybe check the proper ADB drivers for WIN8 X64.

at which step do you have issues ?
Just got it today. Managed to root it as per the tutorial.
But just to highlight. If you have 1 of the chinese models, you will have to use the Chinese Page to generate the unlock code.
http://www.emui.com/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
Also, the superuser app in the attached is in Chinese.
I have modified the zip with an english version should you require it.
WPRT does not recognize the lumia nokia 530 rm-1020 059W494.Even with QHSUSB_DLOAD. I've tried many ways already.
I've even tried the guide of this topic but I do not have the hex 6DF7F89E7A01F5B5DCB5475454545B30B8B036C6BD294ACE42C8B34A7D504D6183
Https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-phone-8/development/help-programmer-unbrick-jtag-t3082592
I was able to install the drives and the windos 7 from my computer recognized the QHSUSB_DLOAD drive. But is alternated between this drive and unknown device.
I could not finish the process of this topic because I do not have the hex file responsible for 530 rm-1020 nokia. Could someone give me up?
Or if someone can tell me how the .BiN file is created. Or if it is broken from the firmware or if it is caculated with some method or what it is necessary to study specifically to create it.

bad news microsoft has finally retired the Windows Device Recovery Tool and the last only method to recover a lumia device
according to this thread in Microsoft forum (In Spanish) and is for the end of support of W10M in 2020
From what I understand there is not an installer that does not use the internet as well as the drivers to be able to recover the device
I quote verbatim what he meant
"I can tell you that the Windows Device Recovery Tool is no longer available for download, nor is it functional on computers that are still installed, due to the end of the life cycle of Windows Phone 8.1 in June 2019 and the end Windows 10 mobile support cycle in June 2020"
Sorry for those bad news but I had an lumia 640xl and in order to test windows rt or windows ARM I need the WDRT for drivers and to downgrade my device to WP8.1

I think (I'm newbie in Windows mobile development) the phone has a sudden death at this point you can only recover the phone using programming tools or JTAG
Check again if you can enter to download or serial mode and reflash using the Thor2 method or with windows phone internals if not the phone needs to be recovered with JTAG method
This my opinion and can or can't be asserted (based I'm my experience with android phones I didn't see a hard brick on lumia devices)
Did you succeed or do you need further help?
Best regards, Joachim
