Turns out the all-metal LG G5 is actually half plastic
http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g5-made-of-plastic-not-metal-683460/
Well hope the unlock bootloader was worth the All metal, IP68 3600MaH EDGE with oculus VR. The g5 isn't in collaboration with oculus so there's that.
At least now you'll have "friends" S7 needs none.

Nah, they wouldn't do something devious like that. /sarcasm off
I bought into their 'most accurate smartphone display' in regards to the G4. Never buying another LG phone. Ever. And I loved my nexus 5. But never again.
The g5 is made of aluminum, it has a coating over top of it to keep the aluminum from getting all scratched up.
People are making a big deal out of nothing. Like I said, it's just a coating.

You want 7000 grade aluminum used in Yaghts , airplanes?? Or regular aluminum with actual plastic. Lol I prefer 7000 grade and glass than plastic for 650$. I don't see why people are leaving for the g5 because it's unlock- able, I'll be buying a moto pure for rooting fun. And keeping what I paid for. At least samsung didn't lie about its phone being 60% plastic. I suppose considering they made a modular phone.

Pretty sure the guy means that the metal band around the glass on s7 is "all metal". Think he understands that glass is not metal. And no s7 doesn't have a primer coat of paint over the metal. Whoever returned their s7e for a g5, I'm very sorry for you. :tear:

It's just personal preference. Some people want to be able to change battery and I do think the LG g5 is an awesome phone. It's just as fast of not faster than the s7, it will be rootable and it's cheaper.
I did choose the s7 edge though and mine will be here next week. I'm still using my lg g3 and it has been an awesome phone for the past 2 years.
Last thing, the g5 had a coat of primer and paint. It is not plastic. Still I would have liked the bare metal but it still looks pretty good in person.
As for the module not lining up I think that was just with beta versions. I think they are good now at least from what I've seen.

While I'm aware any number of cases can alleviate my concern, the SGS5's rear camera seems to be a more prominent protrusion out the back of the device than any of my older phones.
Am I just paranoid that I could scratch the camera lens (or at least the protective material around the lens) when it's sitting face up on a surface?
Or should I not be overly concerned about damaging the rear camera even if I slide my device around face up on a table (going with a smooth surface here, not brick or sand, etc.)?

I bought the S-View cover but it doesn't feel the same as the S-View for the N3. It still adds too much thickness and the "leather" doesn't feel that nice but it does have a raised edge to the back camera which can help protect from scratches when on a flat surface.

That is the question. Are you gonna put a case on your nexus 6? Spigen has multiple cases on their website(http://www.spigen.com/brands/google/nexus-6.html), they look pretty decent, however i might go with no case so i can always have direct contact with the premium materials. Im thinking about getting a squate trade warranty instead so i do have some protection if the screen breaks. Any opinions on squaretrade?
No way, the phone is big enough. Plus, whenever I get a case I end up taking it off in a day.

I use Bugatti hand made leather case whit all my phones. Top ****. But right now, there's no XXL case for N6 yet.
shopbugatti.com/en-us/catalog/mobile-accessories/universal-cases
(Add ww. can't post link, i m new on forum).
I pre-ordered spigen via Amazon, but I would prefer without because the phone is already very big.
The question is, how easy is to replace the back plate or back battery door?
I don't have any experience with Motorola phone, and from my experience with Nexus 5 from LG, that's not really easy, need to pry it open!
If the material is not expensive and easy to purchase, I won't use a case.
However, I am not sure with the frame around the phone, the one looks like a silver lining. Is that part of the back plate or front plate?
I think a leather pouch case would work the best for such a large device. You keep the device protected when transporting aswell as the benefit of using the device naked.

I totally agree with you. This is what I'm planning to do and that's how I used all my phones since the HTC Desire. It's like an awesome mix! Just need to remember to blow it out time to time for possible sand.
the heavier the device the more acceleration when in free fall before impacting a hard surface. I'm getting a case for sure, the spigen slim armor is a start
I don't know yet. Maybe something from Seidio
I like having a cheap easy on / off tpu case. It's nice to just throw it on quick if heading out to bar hop. That's the only time I worry about needing a case!

I actually took my Note -2 out of the case for a day... and dropped it. Shattered the screen. Got a replacement through insurance, and lost my unlocked bootloader. Been using an otterbox since. For this phone, Otterbox is just going to be too big. I'm looking for something that will protect it from falls, but that isn't so wide/thick! Any thoughts anyone?
A very, very thing profile case. I would hate to get scratches on the metal frame or the back. But I love naked phones so I might just stick with a bumper case.
I will probably use a glass screen protector though.

From my understanding, there is little to no room for a case in the Gear Vr, so I would not get my hopes up
The videos I have watched look like there is no room for a case when they clip it in. There has to be SOME room because it facilitates different phones but it doesn't look like there is a lot to play with.
I have a buddy who already got VR headset but no phone... I have the phone but no headset. If he lived closer we could check it out.

Just remove it every time you go to use VR. I do this every time I use mine, I'm not complaining at all. It honestly lets my phone run VR longer since it is able to cool itself better.
Saw this post about cutting off the rubber bumpers and maybe it now works with a case, but question is, which cases work.. ie: this beetle pro, full protection.. still doubting it would fit or work?
Yes, you must remove the case if you would like to use VR with a cardboard headset or plastic headset. I do know of people who design cardboard models that can carry phones with a specific case but you will have to look into that.

Unicorn Beetle Pro absolutely will not fit Gear VR. I have both. Beetle Pro has a cover over the connecter port and adds about 2-3 mm of bulk at the connector so even if it fit the clip, the connector won't reach.
Hi Guys,
So i bought a Tech 21 evo frame for my edge but the phone feels so nice and looks so stunning without a case, is anyone rocking It naked?
(Meaning the phone itself lol)
I have tried, but there is nowhere to put the phone when your not using it, plus it can get pretty cold sometimes.
The lateral grip is so bad (slippery, narrow) that I think it's guaranteed you will drop the phone if used without any case.
I'm currently using it without case and will go on that way, I'll most likely just get a skin for the back to avoid scratches and get slightly better grip.

Using naked with a ScreenKnight protector on it. I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid for it but it makes it too bulky....
Kinda worried about dropping it though, especially after paying so much for it.
Going to be using an otter box symmetry once my zagg screen protector dries up.
Bought a cheap Best Buy store brand clear gel case for it, adds grip but keeps the look of the phone. No screen protector until a glass version.
Naked for me, I do what to get a screen protector for the front though. Just worried about scratches causing issue's when using the vr.
Seems a shame that a manufacturer spends so much time perfecting the design to look and feel this good when the majority of people just stick a case and screen protector on.
Obviously I know it's an expensive and great device to own and we don't wanna risk scratching or smashing it.
Just saying...
I like to live life on the "edge." No case or screen/back protector for me. Ran for 14 months with a naked Note 4 and only dropped it twice with minimal bezel damage. The trick is to have no friends and stay in your house/office all the time...

I do see one benefit of a case though...
True Story;
Woke up on day two with my new Galaxy S7 Edge and grabbed it off my nightstand in the dark bedroom to start my morning routine. I am embarrassed to admit that I sat there for the better part of 30 seconds trying to turn the screen on only to find that I was holding the phone upside down and it was illuminating my palm. The phone is curved nearly the same on the front and back and the glass on both sides really confuses the senses. I doubt I will do it again but I laughed so hard at myself.
It is a beautiful and well curved phone that shouldn't be hidden. For the same price as an Otterbox Defender you can get a year of SquareTrade Insurance and let them handle the worrying. Thankfully I don't see myself filing a claim for a toilet drop like with my Note 3 since this one's water proof; just as long as I fish it out before 30 minutes.
Yes, but I will purchase insurance.

Once you have a new display, to avoid future scratches,, look into buying the "flexible" glass protector product from VZW...its the one made by vzw, make sure it says "flexible".
You will not even be able to tell when it is on the Z Force.
I used a razor and removed the shattershield plastic and replaced it with the pleson (new design) tempered glass. It's amazingly better.

No concerns about voiding the shatterproof warranty? Any better than just applying the pleson on top of the shattershield plastic? Still happy with the result?
I would like to know how that went. You were able to just use a straight razor and shave off the plastic? Did it damage the glass underneath at all? I can't stand this plastic!
I've never quite understood the appeal of glass screen protectors (well, aside from just liking the feel of glass), especially on a phone with a Shattershield display like ours. Why protect an unbreakable screen with a breakable screen protector???
I've used soft military-grade clear film protectors on the last 4 or 5 phones I've had, and I acknowledge that they feel different than glass, but after years with them, I'm guess I'm just used to it . I don't really miss the feel of glass. The way I look at it, this way I protect my unbreakable-but-plastic screen from scratches, and I never have to worry about cracking my protector. I've also found that they generally fit WAY better than glass ones, which rarely seem to go edge-to-edge. Just personal preference, I guess.
I've been very partial to Skinomi's TechSkin protectors. They fit like a dream, they're easy to apply (YES, the micro bubbles sometimes take a day or two to fully disappear, but they will!), and their warranty is great. I'm aware this doesn't really answer your question, but while you're waiting for the SS replacement layers to become available, I bet if you threw one of these on your phone, it would "cover up" the scratches you're accumulating while not having to add a thick, breakable layer to your phone. Just my two cents!
