I flashed the signed_music.zip using clockwork. It loads and plays music fine but if I go into astro and select an mp3 I'm getting file type mp3 no found. Any ideas?

Why dont you just install it from astro instead of flashing it

Use Root Explorer and just copy it to /system/app folder then reboot,or just install it regular with Astro or other file manager. One of these methods will work.
Where did you find a zip for the music player?

Would like to know this as well. If you can provide a link that would be great.
I think his question is about picking an MP3 from the explorer, not trying to install the player.
Chances are that the Fascinate player is named MusicPlayer.apk. If you rename it Music.apk, like the original player was named, it might work. However, I believe that will break your Disc View.
Illogic is right, I'm having problems with file explorer/astro programs registering the mp3 file extension to fascinate muic player. As far as the other questions its not an apk file. When I get to a computer ill post the link for the zip, it came from the rom section from one of the rom builds. Oh and illogic, disk view never worked for me, any ideas? Thanks guys

Yeah tried renaming to music.apk and nothing, its not big deal to me.

I guess pushing the fascinate player APK isn't enough to associate MP3s with it. I hope later versions of Android will allow you to "Open with..." like you can in Windows.
I fixed disc view a week or so ago and, as far as I know, my ROM is the only one with it working currently. I don't mind sharing my seven herbs and spices though. Go through my thread and you'll find a .so file I uploaded, push that to /system/lib/ and make sure the Music player apk is actually named MusicPlayer.apk. If it's named Music.apk like it was the last time I checked Epic Experience, it will not work even with the lib.

The picture folders take forever to load when I open gallery, does anyone else get this? seems slow creating previews of the pictures
i have the same issue
I went back to di18 and that problem was no more
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
only remedy I found was back out of the gallery, and re-enter it. It loads normal speed then
I had success a while back deleting all of my thumbnails, early on, in fixing this problem. (Thumbnails are regenerated upon launching after this). Id also check that u have the latest version of the galley that we're using. Check out the development section, and most of the roms there have that version that I haven't had probs with. I don't know what you're running (dk28.. cw3 ext4..?) If so, I'm usng the version in the Truly Epic rom, and also have used Quantum rom's.
Btw, I have a TON of image files on my sd. If you have certain directories that u don't want to appear in the gallery, u can manage them with a .nomedia file. Ask if u have questions about it.

Exactly delete your android folder on the root of your sd card. It still re generate on the next boot and your gallery will be fixed.

I use a alternative picture app, "QuickPic", it's so much faster then the stock gallery app.
Thanks for the tip guys, that fixed my problem

Just rename the folder to x.nomedia?
I just put a bunch of stuff on my phone in different folders, but photosafe and videosafe need licenses to hide things so this would be a good thing to hide them from my less-tech savvy gf and allow me to actually take the security lock off lol

hehe - in response to the first part:
no - don't rename the folder to that. basically, the .nomedia is a file the GOES into a directory that you don't want the media scanner to scan.
The .nomedia file basically says, "move along! nothin to see here!".
So, a .nomedia file would have to be in EACH of the directories you don't want to show up. Keep in mind.. this won't hide them, and in regards to ur gf... a .nomedia file won't have any affect on the history that a media player might keep... so keep that in mind
To create the nomedia file, you can either find one on your sd somewhere, and copy it (pasting into desired folders)
or
open Notepad on ur computer, save the blank file as "nomedia.txt"
Copy it to your SD, in Astro, rename it to .nomedia (with no extension). and you're set.
Is there another way for me to add a custom mp3 rather than dropping the file into the "Ringtones" folder, for some reason i cant see the mp3 in the list when i try to select it..
Never had this problem before

Thanks for the response mate..
Fixed it by converting the mp3 to an ogg file and adding it to system/media/audio/ringtones

The only problem with that is it will get wiped when you flash a new ROM since its in system
Sent from my Nexus 4
Put it in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
It will behave exactly the same as in system but won't get lost if you change ROM
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I have a trouble adding a new folder with custom ringtones on the sdcard. The device doesn't show these ringtones in system ringtone chooser whatever I do. However, on older firmwares I didn't have any problems with this, the device showed these ringtones right after I restarted the phone. Recently I full wiped and flashed MEA stock rom from the scratch, and now I can't make the device show my custom ringtones in the system menu. Adding the ringtones to System/media/audio/ringtones folder works, but I would like to have a separate folder with custom ringtones on the sdcard, so that I don't have to put them in system ringtones folder after each rom change.
Does anybody has a solution to this?

Hi,
Try Media Scanner
Media scanner didn't help. The system does see the files if i want to add them manually one by one. But the files won't appear in the menu automatically as they used to do before.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Im new here but I read somewhere that a .nomedia file may me stored in a folder and mediascanner for images, music, video will skip this folder. View hidden files and folders in your folder browser so you can see dot files and see if this file is in the ringtones folder. if yes then delete it.
Edit
Try putting a "ringtones" folder in sd card and put your ringtones in there. Then try to see if it shows up.
The previous answer was almost correct.
In your SD Card create a folder with the name "media", inside create 3 folders: "Notifications", "Ringtones" and "Alarms". By doing that your device automatically will recognize every file an list it in the right place.
Actually, I have all those folders on the sdcard. As I said, just before flashing mea Rom with full wipe, these folders were recognized and the all my ringtones were in system sound selection menu. But after flashing, whatever I do, I can't make them appear there. I only have to add them manually one by one. I think there is something changed in mea update that doesn't let you add new ringtones. However, the hangouts app created ringtones folder and two files are there and the are in the system sound selection menu. But if I add couple of my ringtones to that folder
, they don't show up after restarting the phone. The same ringtones, when put into the system/media/audio/ringtones folder using root explorer, appear in the system with no issue.
So as said, there might be some change since Mea Rom that is not letting adding new ringtones.
What do you think?

Seems very hectic for you buddy.
try this if possible.
Go to Setting-> applications-> All-> Search for Media storage-> Clear the data & Stop it (force Close). Again start this service.
Reboot the device in Recovery ( If you are rooted) then clear only dalvik cache.
Now, it will take 15 min to scan your device media.
Remember, your all Ringtones setting will be lost in this case.
Man, thanks a lot! This really worked and none of the audio settings were lost.
I am just curious, why this could happen? Maybe it's because I restored my system from Titanium backup, and media storage was there. In Mea rom there might be some changes to media storage so there was some conflict. Is it right?

Could anyone dump the stock unmodified /system/media/audio folder for me?
My sounds got messed up after trying to add my previous ogg files and I'm trying to restore it and see what I did wrong to mess this up.
I was hoping to get the list of all the original sounds and maybe someone could upload them in a zip file here.
Thanks!

Ty Sir!
I derped with my sounds too. Thanks for putting this up!
Where you able to fix yours?? Still running into the same issue with them not working even when I copy the ogg files to the correct folder.
They copy fine and show in sound settings but they won't play but a default chime

The files copied, and I'm still tinkering with permissions that possibly need to be aligned, but nothing plays on the device. File sizes match up with what I saw previously, but Google Play returns with "Couldn't play the track you requested."
Same here... Tried to give it full perm but that didn't work.
Interestingly the same files will play perfectly if moved to another folder...
I'm really hoping not to have to wipe!!!

I got it! Not only is it the file permissions, but the folder permissions have to be correct too. I found the audio folder needs drwxr-xr-x, the alarms, notifications, ringtones, ui need drwxr-xr-x, and then the sounds themselves need -rw-r--r--. It's one by one, but I've successfully gotten lock, unlock and effect tick under the UI folder working again.
Good luck!
U tha man!!!!!
That did the trick.. Actually only needed to change permissions on files.. Folders were still setup fine.
I ended up ssh into the device and chmod 644 * under each folder after enabling to on the system folder.
2min fix!!
