Hello all,
Today I attempted to disable Kingroot and install SuperSU binaries using Terminal Emulator and a cool little script. Everything went well up until the SU binaries installed. Then all apps I try to boot force close after a few seconds. Anyone help? I have USB Debugging enabled so thats an advantage if I need it.
Did you try to root? It might be because your filesystem is mounted wrong. Reboot/restore it will be fixed.

The built-in Superuser whitelist app in ROM 0.3 worked when I allowed my computer to have superuser access for adb shell, but for any apps on the phone that ask for superuser permission it just loads to a black screen. Eventually a window pops up asking me whether i want to wait or force close. Is there a way to fix this?
EDIT: ok, its seems to work for everything when i have usb plugged in and debug turned on...doing further testing...
EDIT2: confirmed, the whitelist only works when usb is plugged in and debug is enabled. whenever usb in unplugged the whitelist comes up black
EDIT3: no idea what changed but its working for now. ill post again if that changes. i didnt do anything so maybe was a weird temp issue.
Yeah always keep debugging on even if your not connected with the USB.
Because If you're getting a black screen when it asks for SU permission, you probably have Debugging off.
you can do this by going to your Settings-->Applications--> Development-->usb Debugging. Make sure it has a check next to it.
Edit:I know this because I was getting this error and one of the Devs in the IRC told me to make sure debugging was on, after I turned it on I don't have that Problem anymore.
gotcha. i must have turned it off and not remembered doing so. all seems good now.
i also saw your post about it on the other forum right after posting this
Well it's good to have the info in two places, in case people don't check this forum or the others.

is there a way to remove superuser without harming root? the reason i ask is because i cant get it to work on windows xp, on the original hboot 2.1 root i had no problems with getting adb commands to work etc...
when i flashed .3 i could only get it to go to su/$/# then at that point it would not recognize adb...adb not found or permission denied...(screen was black on su and debug was enabled, no permission requests came up...) any help would be appreciated...
ps
are there a separate set of commands when using the embedded su vs using adb without su permissions? thanks...
Idk maybe it was a bad flash? Have you tried to flash 0_3 again?
I rooted my phone with the G2 walkthrough in the forums. It had me install Superuser Permissions, which worked at first. Now when I try to use something that required root access it just tells me I do not have root access. When I open the super user program, it just sits at a blank black screen. When I open up a new app(like the 3 different screenshot apps I downloaded) the apps open and tell me I do not have root access. I do have root access because I can get Titanium Backup to run and it also requires root access. I cannot remove/uninstall Superuser Permissions to swap it with another working super user app.
I saw this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
I tried to install that app from the market and it fails to install(I assume due to the fact that I already have a super user app running). That said I cannot remove the installed app(thats not working). In that article it says to open terminal and type a "remount" command that may be different for each phone. I tried the command that they suggested(for his Nexus) but it did not seem to work on my G2.
So what do I do? Does anyone know what command I need to run from terminal to complete those directions to get a functioning Superuser app working? Does anyone know how to fix the existing "Superuser Permissions" app? Any suggestions?
try a reboot
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I already have. The Superuser Permissions app still only comes up with a black screen. No options when I hit "menu" and it does continue to stay active after I back out to the home screen as it does show up in the Task Killer list. That said, I am not getting a pop up that asks if I want to give an app superuser access. The apps that I alraedy had given permissions to(like Titanium Backup) still work fine, but no new app that require SU access will work.
Any other suggestions.

Have you tried clearing data for the Superuser app? See if that resets it to a working state.
did you do a perma root or temp root? If you did the Temp root, then the reboot caused you to lose your root. You need to re temp root then do the perma root.

Its perm root. I still have the temp root app on the SD card(not installed) but its perm rooted.

Well.. not only did that not work, it made it worse. Now my titanium backup(that I have accessed daily for weeks since I rooted my phone) tells me I am not rooted after I cleared the data from the super user program...
And...
Now when I go to terminal and type su I dont get the # anymore.. it says permission denied...
AND
I tried using Visionary for a temp root, and after it trys to temp root, I still cant access SU from terminal.
I have not updated my OS to my knowledge.
Any ideas?
Anyone have any insight into this??
At this point my phone basically isnt rooted anymore. I have even tried visionary and it seems to temp root but nothing works.. I can get SU in terminal etc....
Superuser Permissions is still installed but doesnt work.
I tried using Visionary to remove root. It says my phone doesnt appear to be rooted.
Soo at this point, my phone has none of the advantages of being rooted, yet it is technically rooted(because I cant re-root it the same way using visionary and terminal).
What can I do??
Try installing a new ROM if you already have clockwork installed.
Hi all. I've installed kodi and with the confluence ++ skin. There are a few observations and questions I would be grateful if someone could help point me to the right direction.
1. I cannot get the power suspend option on kodi like how it exists in spmc. Is there a settin somewhere to enable it.? I cannot seem to find it. maybe some config file?
2. When adding 7 tiles to the bottom, the first tile gets slightly cut.
3. With rbox's boot menu. Is there a way to disable the boot menu display on every boot? or at least decrease the time of 5 seconds?
Really appreciate your help.
I tried to add the power options from elmero's repo but that requires the su and when I try to run the su script, it fails. however I do have root. am confused to make kodi my main OS yet . any guidance?
have you went into the SU app under the FTV menu ( the OEM rom, not XBMC ) and launch SU. Update binaries and apply etc. Try that.

what is the su app you are referring to in the ftv menu? I have supersu and I have an option to force stop only
also when I try spmc, I get the power options
confused.
Open superuser from the FTV app list and let it update.

I have the supersu application. That does not have an open option. I also downloaded the superuser from the playstore and I still get eh checksu.py script failure. on spmc I too get the script failure but I have the power options working just fine.
Sorry man, there should be an option to update binaries like in any SU app.. Which version are you using
When I installed rbox's CMW recovery and custom ROMs I lost the ability to open su. I believe this is a known issue.

For now I'm still sticking to spmc. I don't think helix has the support ready yet. SPMC 13.3.2 (not the latest one) works the best with .ts files as well.
EDIT: Nevermind guys, I found out the solution myself. I formatted the system partition in TWRP and reflashed the ROM again. But still, I would like to know if there is a way we can get root access inside TWRP's terminal emulator.
I installed CM13 on my Nexus 6P and on top of that I installed c-apps package. Now the dialler app is crashing and not allowing me to receive any calls. Though they have mentioned a way to uninstall it via adb, but is there any other way to do it, as I don;t have a cable with me right now in my office. I don't want to format my system partition and lose all the installed apps again
I tried the terminal emulator inside TWRP 3.0, but it doesn't have root access. Can someone please guide me?
So I rooted my tablet and busybox and plenty of other apps are not working at all. GlTools will crash and cause a reboot. Busybox will not be able to verify integrity of the binary to be selected to install.
I have the sm-t597p version and am with sprint. I have magisik. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Well, I'd have to assume that you didn't follow a well known path to root. Did you just flash a random image on it, or try to use an "autoroot" type program so you could give ownership of your phone to someone else?
