Sorry if this has already been covered before, but ive been looking around a lot and havent had much luck.
I just picked up a lg optimus l7 in china, and found out that theres no way to access the google play store or add a google account. I looked into it and rooting seemed like the way to solve all that. I'm assuming rooting will allow all the normal android capabilities to return.
I'm fairly computer savvy and feel comfortable going through the root tutorials to root my device, however thee was a few things I wasnt sure about.
One, when choosing the firmware, should pick the one my phone is currently using? for example, my device is running V10c, so I should download the China v10c firmware, right? and then follow the rooting tutorial for v10c firmware? and even though it says china unicom underneath, the phone should still function as it normally did after a successful root, because I am using a china mobile sim card with the phone, llike there is no risk of it loosing its calling and messaging functionality?
Also, will the rooting process affect data stored on the sim card at all? I dont think it does...
Thank you very much, Im sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I have looked quite a bit. Its also kind of annoying to have to deal with chinese internet, so the less time I have to spend trudging through the great firewall the better.
thanks in advance
As far as I know china don't have play store, you can retrieve the file from the other firmware.
I don't think there will be a problem with the messaging and phone when flashing with other firmware. As an example for this is my phone, my phone is from Canada a P705g and I successfully flash it with a v10i and v10k Europe open. And I'm using it here in the Philippines and I'm using the simple blue rom from snx.
You can follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163585
Here the author compiled the instructions in one thread.

thanks for the help,
now im sure this has been answered, but I have been unable to find information on which version of the firmware to select. Does it matter whether you choose v10a, v10c, or v10i? besides the occasional change in rooting process, do they offer anything different?
again, thank you for being very helpful.

actually i really dont know the diff between the versions, most of the devs and users here prefer to use the europe open v10i coz they said its more stable and also the v10k. as you can see on the devs sections they always suggest to use these firmwares because they successfully rooted it. in fact most the custom roms, simpleblue from snx and cyan optimus are based on these two firmwares.
for rooting with v10a, v10c and v10i, you can use petrescu rooting guide here. this is the first guide I used since my phone P705g comes with v10c.
for v10k here.
Alright, so I downloaded the open europe v10c to flash on to my phone after rooting it. Ive followed the guide and had some issues. I rooted the device using the runme.bat program, then I used the lg support tool to try and find the divers, but when I clicked to install the drivers, nothing shows up. So i connected the phone using the install option and it seemed to install the drivers itself. I installed the parser, enabled the enabler and ran the too to flash v10c onto my device. It worked fine and then got stuck at 4%. I was finally able to get it past the 4 % by starting the upgrading while in emergency mode. This works until 99% then the program says it looses communication. It looked like it installed fine, however it will restart constantly when turned on so its unusable.
could this be a problem with the firmware? or is there something else ive done wrong, ive been trying to download another firmware to flash, but i havent been able to get to the download page from the main website, has anyone else had this problem?
im on a l7 p705, does it matter that i tried to flash firmware for a p700 onto it?
thank you very much
My phone is P705G with the original firmware V10c, I was able to root my phone using petrscu's rooting method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32031942
I was able to flash/upgrade to Europe open V10i which is for [a P700 model. By following the above link where there is [a link how to flash kdz.
Be sure to follow all the instructions. The lg driver, the setting of the phone, the settings of the kdz flasher, etc.
By the way, what os are you using?
I'm using Windows 8.

My Phone is a p705 with v10c
I was able to root fine with the guide, but I'm having trouble flashing another stock firmware. Ive tried europe open v10c and Hong kong v10c as well. Ive followed the guides perfectly, with the exception of the driver installation that i mentioned earlier. When I use the support tool and click to install drivers, a window opens up to select my phone, but no option exists. But I think my phone loaded the appropriate driver. that would be the only situation where I would have gone away from the tutorial, but ive looked around and havent been able to find any information on it.
When I try to flash the firmware, the updater gets stuck at 4%, I've gotten it to work by playing around with things, but nothing is consistent, (ive tried disabling the lg modem, but that doesnt do anything consistantly) then it reaches 99% and im left with a phone that keeps restarting for no reason. Ill try again with the firmware you mentioned and download the europe v10i and see if that does anything.
by the way, thanks for all the help you have given me!

your welcome, chpv. sorry to hear about your problem in flashing, I really don't have any idea whats the problem. Im no expert on this, I just follow all the instructions given here on this forum and so far I didnt experience the same problem as you are. I hope somebody will come and help you.
but for now, can follow this guide here, and use the KDZ_FW_UPD.exe for flashing. install the usb driver first before flashing.
and download the usb driver from here. I assume your using windows.
sorry, I forgot to mention. I'm using windows 7 64bit
Do you know if anyone has been able to flash a different firmware onto a chinese p705? could it just be that the chinese phones are slightly different. I keep trying, reinstalling, going through the steps online, trying other methods ive found as well, and everything just gets me stuck in what i think is called a boot loop. I keep scouring the forums and finding nothing. Ive seen tutorials for harder ways of flashing firmware, but it seems that if all I want to do is flash stock firmware to get the access to the normal google functions, it shouldnt be this difficult. Ive thought about trying the "harder" way, but there are a few steps Im not sure how to do, and there doesnt seem to be a video tutoral
hmmm.
So sorry to hear that, I'm not a developer and just ordinary user so cant really help you much further.
Why dont you try to pm some of the devs here like petroscu and xorox, they are one of the first to root our phones. You can also try normand, or just scan the p700 development thread and pm one those guys that you think can help.

@chpv; if you still haven't successfully root and flashed your phone try this guide here. Its already rooted v10k, w/ unlock bootloader and cwm.
thanks a lot, ill give it a shot, and post results
So I have an Asus Zenfone Max(ZC550KL) which is more or less unusable at the moment. I had been using it for a year and 4 months now and it worked like charm. But for the last few weeks, It had gotten incredibly slow. So day before yesterday, when I got some free time on my hand, I decided to flash it with a custom ROM.
Basically I checked xda for some good ROMS and decided which ones to flash. Also had to unlock the bootloader which I did using the app from the official Asus website. Also managed to get twrp recovery and root it. I somehow managed to flash a custom ROM but it wasn't working like I expected(No wifi or network) and so many other things. So I decide to flash the stock ROM back and this is where I screwed up in probably more ways than one.
So I went on to search as to how I could go about flashing the stock ROM and one of the instructions said it was as simple as using the firmware from the Asus website and installing the zip through twrp. At the moment I wasn't aware that the 16GB and 32GB were actually different variants, one which had Snapdragon 4XX and the other had 620 processor. The website initially listed only 8916 firmware. I didn't think a whole lot about it and used twrp to flash it. Since then the phone isn't booting up, can't get it into the CSC mode or recovery mode. Later on I managed to search a Asus website a little more extensively and somehow managed to find the 8939 as well. But without being able to boot into the bootloader mode or recovery, I don't know how to go about it.
I am not getting the charging symbol either, and whenever I plug into the PC, nothing is recognized. But from time to time, if I press the power button long enough, My PC says an unrecognized device is plugged. Is their anything I can do to to revive the phone or should I lose hope at this point? Also I understand changing the motherboard could fix it, but is the price worth it or would I be better off buying a new phone? Any help would be highly appreciated.

What is the device model exactly , the 8916 or 8939 CPU ? How exactly is the device showing up when you connect to pc, showing up as a number of local drives or what ?

Not showing up at all. sometime back, if I pressed the power button long enough, My pc would tell me there is some unrecognized device connected. Now that isn't happening either. Its the 32 GB Variant with Snapdragon 625, So 8939. But I flashed the phone through twrp, that too with 8916 firmware.

Hi, guys.
Today, my OP5 decided to troll me. I was using normally him, when suddenly it started to lags pretty bad. I restarted and he continued to lags and freeze. I made a wipe cache via stock recovery (i didnt made any change at all in it, no unlocked bootloader, no root). That's when my nightmare begins. It begins to bootloop. Sometimes i was able to start the boot animation, but then it just restarts to the beginning. I tried a lot of tips, wiping cache, system, etc. Then, i left it charging. When i tried to turn on again, it worked like nothing ever happened to him. I made a backup of my personal data fast, scared to him suddenly restart again. After that, i decided to made a Factory Reset, clean up everything. When i did it, he started the lag and freezes again. I was at lost. That's was when i decided to use the official unbrick tool, to make the cleanest OP5 ever possible. I grabbed the archives from this link and followed this tutorial. When i was executing the programa, in the userdate.img, he showed a error. When i saw it, i just stopped and closed the program. Now, my OP5 is hardbricked. The only sign of life that i get from him is when i connect him at the PC. I can identify it as qualcoom 9008, but when i try to run the program, he just fail and show me error 258.
Plz, i need some orientations. I have been read things for about 10 hours and didnt found a solution. I live abroad for any oneplus tech center, and i believe, for the other posts that i read, that online tech support wouldn't help me a lot. I really don't like to make this kind of post but i am kind of desesperate. I dont have money to afford another phone
Again, sry to disturb you all. Sry if i broke some rule of the forum too. And sry for my bad english, i hope that i was able to communicate right.
EDIT: I just tried in another computer. Same error appears. :'(
Hummm why follow a Unbrick Topic with tools for ...3T ?
Maybe you have a encryption problem, all your Tools/Topic are so old for the actual versions (Oreo 8.X OOS / 8.1 OOS)
I advise to you (in the first time), to flash this TWRP (using fastboot, very simple) just follow this guide : here
If you can flash TWRP, your phone is not bricked, you will boot in TWRP:
- Format Data > tape "yes" > Reboot in TWRP
- Copy/Past xXx 10.0 ROM to test, install and xXx Rom will fix/install for you the best OOS Custom ROM for your OP5 with a great Aroma Installer.
If TWRP with this rom work perfectly, you wil able to restore a official stock OOS for sure, just flash original/stock recovery (fastboot), wipe all data/partitions, install your OOS rom and it's fine
I think @cidsantiago says they bootloader isn't unlocked.
He needs to know that unlock the bootloader implies lost all /sdcard data and also installed apps and settings) before start the TWRP install process...

EDIT: Just tried this. My cellphone cant be recognized in fastboot devices. As a said, i am not getting any response for him, just when i plug it in the PC. So i wasn't able to unlock bootload or anything like that. I tried just to plug it and see if fastboot was able to identifying it, but it wasn't.

Wipe your device data from the stock recovery.
You loss the settings and downloaded apps but not requires to unlock the bootloader.

I can't access recovery anymore, as i said. The only sign of life that i get is when i connect it in the PC.
I guess i have to do something to restore the basics partitions of my cellphone. Like recovery, boot, etc. But i just have the official tool to do that. There is another way? Like transfering directly by the COM port?

I had the same exact problem with my old One plus One. Spent like 4 days trying to unbrick it. That msm tool did the fix for me. Also, in that link to the guide you provided, doesn't it flash the Chinese version of the OS? If that's the case, I don't think it was a good idea to do so lol

Don't worry though, it happens to plenty of people. It happened to me as well, and everyone eventually fixes it. It is unlikely that it is a hardware problem, so just following the correct steps should get it working. Keep trying stuff out, it's very good that your computer recognizes it as a qualcomm port, as far as I know that's all you need to flash the necessary things in order for it to boot.
I am getting the same error 258 in this post. :T I posted there to see if the OP can help me. But thx for your help @Mash1ro

But don't use the same files and all that stuff, since that's for the 3T. Try to pick out the things that might help but use the files for the OnePlus 5 only
After try the unbrick procedure in 3 different PCs, using about 10 different USB ports, i still getting the same error in the same step. When downloading cache.img, he stuck in about mid bar, and shows me the warning: SendProgramCommand Failed, Error: 258". Besides that, he turns on the green led and stop being recognize by the PC. Then i have to hold power and turn off the green led. :T Maybe i can use a linux to access the partitions?

yeah... But it is kind of weird. He was running smoothly, until suddenly started lag and freeze. He didn't fall or any of that... I think is just a defective phone. Doesn't find another explanation to that.
I think your best option is to RMA the device through OnePlus. Since you haven't rooted it or anything, they should repair it for you.

Hello, thank you very much for reading, I hope you can help me. I need one or more files to be able to recover my phone: Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.
These are the files that I need:
prog_emmc_firehose_8996.mbn (.elf)
rawprogram0.xml
patch0.xml
I do not know if I would also need these:
MPRG8996.hex
rawprogram_unsparse.xml
I think these files are the same as prog_emmc_firehose_8996.mbn (.elf):
8996_msimage.mbn
MSM8996.mbn
How did I make a brick my phone? Installing the first official version:

Previously I used this version without any problem:

why you want this emmc_firehose_8996.mbn?
actually, i think that you don't need that file especially, it doesn't exist from where i've searched.
if it's to flash your phone all you need is odin and a flashable file of your phone firmware
i had a zuk z2 pro and was locked with frp when i wanted to setup custom rom AOSP 9.0.0 for example.
but i managed to unlock it by flashing a custom rom without gapps in the first place to no get locked out.

Hello, sorry for my bad English. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Active (SM-G891A). I will try to explain what happened.
I had this version of Android 6 installed (via Odin) on the phone:
G891AUCS2API2_CL8737252_QB10881022_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT
With that version my phone was fine, but then I tried to install the first version of Android 6 (official) via Odin:
SM-G891A_G891AUCU1APG7_ATT_Full_Repair_Frimware
When the installation was completed (Odin said the installation was successful), the phone never restarted. There is no way to turn it on with any combination of buttons, nor with a microSD with a debrick.img. A USB JIG has not worked for me either.
Windows detects my phone in Qualcomm 9008 mode. Odin does not detect it.
did you find a solution?
actually it look like to be a hard brick but as it's snapdragon 820 you can recover from it
I'm waiting for the day when noobs and half-noobs (no offense, all of us have been there) will start reading before writing and stop assuming that their 1st aid kit will revive a kitten ran over by a train.
It's okay not to know, but before writing a spam reply, just consider for a second that the user already tried your solution and is already a step ahead.
Listen guy, go to Halab Tech. They have certain firmwares for what you need, but they ask money.
Those type of firmwares have a prefix "DEBUG_EMERGENCY_DOWNLOAD_FA....'
In my case it's "DEBUG_EMERGENCY_DOWNLOAD_FA70_G955U1SQU6ASG1_CL12542406_QB24669289_REV00_user_mid_noship_MULTI_CERT.tgz"
As I consider that a bastard move (since they are selling Samsung's intellectual property as their own, stuff that should be public in the first place), I encourage you to share the files if you buy them, so that we can all use them and screw over these monopoly playing-intellectual property stealing bastards.
I'm now working on a recovery of my G955U1 (S8+ Qualcomm USA). I paid $25 for a god damn firmware and I'm gonna post it in next couple of days.
I'm personally having trouble of flashing the firmware (because not many flash tools support flashing .elf flash loaders), but I used one FRP tool (Octoplus FRP tool) to check the loader and it managed to send it, receive the "hello" packet, read partitions and erase the FRP partition (I assume it worked by the log), but I don't have a way to flash other partitions yet.
You people should have in mind one thing: even though certain devices have the same chipset, doesn't mean that you can use the same firehose flash loader, since manufacturers create different loaders for them and write their digital signatures into the chip (don't know is it hardwired or flashed), meaning that you cannot use Xiaomi's prog_ufs_firehose_8998_ddr.elf (just an example) to flash a Samsung device with MSM8992 chipset.
In fact, I think that each phone model and possibly even it's different firmware revisions have unique loaders, since I didn't manage to get a successful response from my G955U1 by sending G955U2 loader, and the loader which I managed to send is actually stated to be for G955U1U6 (U6 is the bootloader revision number, while U1 is the part of the model number).
Best of luck, contact me if you need help.
I made a huge mistake with my Asus Zenphone 5Q (ZC600KL) and I'm freaking out. I rooted my phone and I accidentally deleted - like actually deleted - some google apps that I shouldn't have. So I thought oh hey no big deal I'll just reset the phone in TWRP. I ended up completely wiping my OS. So I went to the Asus website and downloaded the stock firmware for my device just to find out when I try to install it in TWRP I get an error that prevents me from installing it. I double checked and it is the correct firmware that I downloaded but in TWRP installer it says "Updater process ended with Error 7" and it also says "E3004: This package is for "ASUS_X017D_2" devices; this is a "wt89199"". So I tried looking for the WT89199 stock firmware online and there is next to nothing other than literally ONE google drive link that isn't even working which doesn't even make sense. The asus website doesn't seem to have this stock firmware.
I feel really hopeless I've never messed up this bad before and I feel like I've looked everywhere and I just can't find any solutions this time. This is pretty much my last resort. If anyone knows how where I can get the right firmware or fix TWRP so I can install the firmware from the ASUS website, I would be so grateful. I'm completely out of options..
UPDATE: I think I may have found a solution with the right firmware but I still can't boot it up. Here is the link to the files ( https :// mshare.io /file/2fSAy4 - remove the spaces I'm new so I can't post links ) if someone more experienced could look at them and determine how I should go about getting it on my device. Right now I have no OS and can only access TWRP. Anyone know what to do with this?[/B]
UPDATE - SOLUTION: THANK GOD IN THE HEAVENS I'VE FIGURED IT OUT. MY PHONE IS FIXED. Someone please pin this or save it or something because I've seen a few other people with this issue and no resolved answers anywhere so if you are struggling with this issue, HERE IS THE SOLUTION for the ASUS Zenphone 5Q ZC600KL. If you're a dumbass like me and accidentally wiped your OS like I did and you were lucky enough to have TWRP and fastboot still available, you still have a fighting chance. Go to https :// mshare.io /file/2fSAy4 (remove the spaces) and download the file. I already scanned it and there are no viruses but feel free to also do so yourself. Next, you are going to want to extract the file into its own folder. Plug your device into your computer via USB cable and start your device up into fastboot mode. Now, inside the folder you just extracted is a file called "SOP_to_flash_Images_by_fastboot_v1.1-en". Open that and it has instructions for both Windows and Linux operating systems to flash these files onto your device.
Side note: if you get an error that says something like "target didn't report max-download-size sending 'modem' fastboot mode..." etc etc after executing "flashall_AFT.cmd 1", try plugging your usb cable into a different port. I had this issue and switched ports and everything worked smoothly after and all the files will automatically flash onto your device.
If there are any mods that can add the download file directly to this post in case it ends up getting taken down in the future, this would be so incredibly helpful because there are currently no solutions to this issue other than this post. There really isn't much recovery info out there at all about the Asus Zenphone 5Q so I hope this will be a first step!

I have the same phone Asus ZenFone ZC600KL X017DA
This phone is actually the wife's but she handed it over to me because it was stuck on the Asus Logo and there is no recovery options the only 2 modes it has is CSC fastboot mode and EDL mode .. fastboot commands detects the phone and will display a serial number that match what's on the phones box device information states false under bootloader unlocked same with unlock critical
Trying to flashall will just throw up an error write protected
Issue is I cannot unlock the bootloader with the given tool from Asus as it's an apk file and phone doesn't boot and for the same reason I cannot enable OEM unlock and debugging
So kinda screwed and based on all the firmwares that Asus has for this phone I'm guessing around 15 maybe more from early 2018 until now so I cannot be sure I even got the right version
I have to make clear this phone has NEVER been rooted or modded in anyway not unless you count cracked screen glass as a mod haha
I should note the ball n chain did say for a while the phone was getting a bit hot I put that down to the fact she has mobile data active always and making videos and charging at same time
