Hey guys
I decided to try out BTU firmware, but now want to get back to my old one as I plan to sell the phone.
No matter what I seem to be trying I cannot get my CSC to go back to what it originally was (SEB) as it keeps reverting back to TPH for whatever odd reason. Both are part of the SM-G928F OXX multi CSC; so it's all cool, but why the phone specifically chooses TPH...? That beats me. I even tried to initialize it using the Smart Switch - still no luck.
Is there any to force the device to change that without rooting the device?
When you change the csc do a hard format it will or should go back to default csc.
I do a downgrade to 5.1.1 via odin with phone efs clear checked , factory reset and back to 6.0.1 from the region (csc) i want !!!
My Solution, but with Root
Since my Operator activated VoLTE and Wifi-Calling I wanted to go back to my original CSC. But I had for long the same problem as above and finally found a way, but only by rooting my device:
My Operator Firmware SWC is in a Multi-CSC from Vodafone Group. After installing a custom rom, which was not containing my initial CSC, i stuck on the default CSC SIM (Slovenia) when I wanted to go back to my original CSC/Stock Firmware. No matter what I did, i was not able to get my original CSC!!
Here what I did (Attention, will fully wipe all data and tripping Knox):
1. Clean install: Download and flash your Stockfirmware with SamFirm and Odin
2. Do initial setup until your device is ready to use, and you are able to install apps
3. Go back in Download Mode an root your device with Chainfire CF Auto Root (flash .tar with Odin, do not install a custom recovery!)
4. once rebooted, install Shortcut Master (Lite) from the Play Store
5. In the Shortcut Master choose the "Secret Code Explorer"
6. Browse the codes until 83052020........... (Preconfig, PreconfigBroadcastReceiver), open it with root method
7. Now you can choose your original CSC and click on Install
8. Your device will now do a Factory Reset and change to your new/old CSC!
9. You can setup your device again and you should be back on your CSC you wanted to be!
=> The trick is, that only the original recovery is performing a correct change of CSC! As long you as you have a custom recovery, it will most probably not work!
I hope that way will help other to solve this problem.
I need help. my s6 G928T sim no detcted

Hi everyone,
this maybe a very noob question but how do you change the CSC on the S4?
I recently flashed an unbranded UK firmware onto my Australian S4, back with my old phone, I was able to change the CSC with *#272*IMEI# though that doesn't seem to work now. So any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to change the CSC to a UK CSC so I'll be able to receive updates OTA or through kies.
1.Download the appropriate firmware for your region from sammobile.
2.Extract Hidden.img and cache.img
3.Now compress these two files together into a .Tar file.
4.Flash this in PDA section of Odin
5.You now have correct CSC

Is anyone having trouble changing their CSC?
I've flashed the pre-rooted UK Firmware, and used CSC Changer to set the CSC to BTU.
It automatically re-boots, but the CSC hasn't changed.
I boot into recovery and perform a F.Reset, and the CSC still doesn't change to BTU.
As far as I can tell, I'm following all instructions correctly from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
"If someone want to change CSC, please use this app: Samsung Galaxy S2/S3 CSC
After using this app you MUST reboot into RECOVERY for the changes to take place.
Don't worry if you see some errors in recovery, it's NORMAL as "hidden.img" is excluded..
WORKS perfectly! TESTED!! "
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated!

Tried that without success. Got a failure in Odin.
There's no hidden.img nor cache.img but hidden.img.ext4 and cache.img.ext4. Are these the correct files?
I downloaded latest btu UK firmware
Loaded with odin
Did a factory reset
Switched if and then went into recovery mode
Rebooted and btu was activated
I was not rooted

they are just ext4 formats so u could mount it on linux or something else..
use mkuserimg.sh command to convert
I'm also interested in this. I also changed from Australian firmware to UK. Since changing I've noticed HD voice (wb amr) is off (check by typing *#0011# into dialer then menu key>back>menu key>key input >enter '1' then wait till menu appears >WB AMR Status.)
Prior to changing roms both WB AMR Setting and UTMS WB was On. Now they're both off. I did some searching and apparently its tied to the CSC.
so.....how do we change csc to s4? i have installed unbranded rom, wiped but csc remained the same. how de we change this?
I9505 stuck with wrong CSC

I am also stuck after trying several suggestions of fixes..
The Sammobile firmware for NEE (Nordic) gives a CSC of BTU, i previously had H3G
Looks like we will have to wait till DEV's get time to build a work-around.
Doing web searches there are several dodgy sites that claim older changers work on the S4 & also giving instructions to install via the old way with the 3 files, instead of just the PDA.

Try this to change CSC:

Very well written article, so thank you for the link. Sadly though, one of the methods worked for me. Any more ideas gratefully received though!

i just reboted in stock android recovery (hold vol up + home button+ power),and it said "applied multi csc....and it changed the csc to the my curent firmware¨s csc
I am trying to set my csc to BTU. Im using csc changer app.
However everytime I run it, I dont get a screen allowing me to choose the csc as they show in guides.
I know the app works, since its changed my csc from EVR to DBT (since my rom is german based).
What am I doing wrong?
After playing around with several stock firmwares and Odin, I accidentally stumbled upon a method to change the CSC of my S4 I9505 without the need to root the device. I successfully changed from the original TGY (Hong Kong) to SIN (Singapore) and then to DBT (Germany). This is what I did (in summary)
Make sure you take a backup via Kies if you need personal files
Download the respective stock ROMS from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com or see thread on Stock Roms on XDA
Extract zip to get tar.md5
Put device into download mode (Vol down+ Home + Power) and Flash using Odin (PDA option)
Wait till device reboots back into Android after completing the flash and recovery
Once device reboots, do a Factory Reset via Settings > Accounts
Once device reboots after Factory Reset/recovery, enter the google account info and restore settings and then turn off the device
Boot device back into download mode (Vol down+ Home + Power)
Re-flash the same downloaded firmware for a second time via Odin
Once the device reboots after the 2nd flash, your CSC should have changed to the CSC of the ROM you downloaded, and Kies also should show that CSC has changed and it should allow future updates via Kies or OTA

It's unnecessary to do steps 7-10. You may check your new CSC in recovery mode after restoring the device.

I was thinking so too but that's exactly what helped me to change CSC on my i9295 (very common with i9505). After the first wipe I still had the old CSC (I checked in Kies though). After the full procedure I have proper CSC in Kies. Probably there is a easier way but this one works also.

You had to restart Kies, it would show the new CSC then.

Of course I restarted Kies. I think what I have not done is entering Recovery once the Odin flash is done. Entering Recovery gives the following: Applying Multi-CSC... Applied the CSC-code: XXX (my new CSC here). And I think here's where all the magic happens.

At least for me, my device goes in to "Recover Booting" after each Odin flash as well as a factory reset. I actually tried a a manual recovery boot via Vol Up + Home + Power after the factory reset in step 6, but it did not change my CSC, hence doing all steps is what worked for me all the time. I once skipped the Google login part after the factory reset and it didn't work that time either and had to do another factory reset, google login and another re-flash.
I wish there is an easier way, the reason I have been experimenting with different firmwares is to see if I can get LTE working natively, since phone does not show the LTE option under Mobile Networks. We have 2 operators offering LTE here in Sri Lanka but Samsung only sells the I9500 officially here which does not have LTE, so got down my I9505 from HK. So far I have had to use Viaero 4G Toggle app from the play store to enable LTE, while it works, enabling LTE this way is a huge battery drainer!
but is there a way to extract CSC from a particular firmware and flash only this?
I used to do it on my S3 by using the hidden.img and the cache.img but if I try in Odin on the S4 it fails (
Hello xda! I want to ask you guys if it is safe to change CSC via CSC change app and after that if i can update my samsung galaxy with stock rom without causing me problems. I have XEF CSC, i have changed it to EUR, my android is 4.3 rooted with CF Auto Root and i want to install EUR 4.4 firmware. sorry for my english!
1. Use Triangle Away for reset your flasher counter to OFFICIAL.
2. Make a backup data folders of ur Internal Card (you will restore it when u will flash android 4.4.2).
3. Make a factory reset.
4. Take a look if ur CSC still EUR. If not, change it again.
5. You are ready sure for install android 4.4.2 via OTA, ODIN or KIES 3.
6. Enjoy it :highfive:
Hi guys!
After I flesh new firmware (stock ROM, no root) with ODIN 3.09, my CSC code is independently changed to a different region. I tried to flash several times and the same thing is repeated to the same firmware selects a different region, another CSC from successfully applied multi-CSC. How can I change and go back to my region CSC, without root my device (I have a stock ROM that is not the root). Thank you!
Try the dialer code below to change your CSC. Note that this will do a factory data reset as well.
Or use Odin to install a stock firmware from your carrier.
*#272*<IMEI>#
.
Wrong CSC
Try the dialer code below to change your CSC. Note that this will do a factory data reset as well.

*#272*<IMEI>#
Thanks for your help, but that code (*#272*<IMEI>#) does not work and I tried several times with ODIN to install the stock ROM in its region and always the same, successfully installed ROM, successfully installed a multi CSC, but other regions, not the one that was before.

If you factory reset right after the flash the CSC might stick, if not reflash the rom again without a wipe with Odin and it should be good.
Thanks I'll try
OK - I started with a unbranded UK A300FU - CSC code BTU on 5.x
I flashed a (supposedly) UK VOdafone 6.0.1 rom using Odin and the ROM n the AP sjlot
It appears this failed - my Modem wasn't updated an WiFi failed - the advice elsewhere is to go into download from a cold phone.
Also, it would appear the firmware wasn't UK, but some germanic version
I restored from a TWRP backup
My phone details now says the "orginal CSC Code" is VD2
If I want get back to showing Original code as BT should I re-flash in Odin the firmware that matched the twrp backup ? If so , should I stil use the AP slot, or should I use the CSC slot?
Many thanks
Use CSC slot.
Also, the reason why your TWRP backup restoration didn't touch the CSC is that it has it's own partition, which one normally does not backup.
You could flash an entirely unbranded marshmallow rom of your choice, and flash the BTU CSC of lollipop, it should still theoretically work.
Hi everyone. I am having battery drain issues after i installed the September security update. I want to reinstall the firmware on smart switch by connecting to PC.
The last time i tried it through emergency software recovery in fownload mode, I almost bricked my phone. Can i reinstall using device initialization option? Which one would be better?
Thanks in advance.

When you brick your device it has nothing to do with Odin (use the latest version)
Make sure you install the right firmware for your device
Import the appropriate files to Odin exactly where they supposed to be
You'll have five files when unpacked downloaded package
Installing CSC will wipe your device, to avoid that you have to install HOME_CSC instead
You may also need to set a password for a secure startup as it may ask

Hey again, @Geoz
I have two questions:
1. I can't get FOTA on my S7E, I think because the CSC file. Can I really flash the "HOME" one and not wipe data?
2. If I want to flash another Stock ROM, I must set secure startup? And if I forget, there is any solution?

If you want to flash different stock firmware other than your region, flash the three (BL, AP, CP ) and use your original HOME_CSC (you are aware that you have to start all over), installing your region stock firmware with HOME_CSC will not wipe your device.
If you forget password use (default_password) without the brackets but it's important to set it before and use it only if you forget

But if I will flash other region FW and my own country CSC, I won't be able to get FOTA. As far as I know, The FW and the CSC has to match to get updates.
About password for secure startup, I mean, is it really necessary to set it before flashing new ROM? I must set it up?
