Sorry, not having this problem on the Verizon version. "Do not keep activities" stays off for me.

I've just updated to the latest Firmware,
now I have a persistent notification saying Power Saving Mode Enabled and Background Data Restricted.
Very ugly and annoying!
Anyone know how to get rid of it? what a ridiculous feature

Great feature. But to answer your question Settings menu > General > Power Saving > Power saving mode > on /off
And probably in your quick access menu as well
.
I want to keep it turned on though of course. Just not have huge ugly notification that has never been there on any Samsung device I've owned until this July update to the s5.
Horrible
Probably have to wait for an xposed module mate.
I agree that the notifications are over the top. Thankfully I don't use power saving mode.
I use apps that require me to allow accessibility.
I do this, however the settings never stay locked.
I am forced to go through the whole list and activate them!
Am I round something wrong?
Hey I have got a solution for this . Go to your device settings and then Privacy. Then go to privacy guard. There are three dots on upper right corner. CLICK ON THAT AND SELECT SHOW BUILT IN APPS. Now search for Google play services and hold on Google play services. Scroll downside and search for auto start and keep awake. Turn them off. But keep sure that (keep awake ) is enabled.
If it help you please thanks me.
I had accidentally turned on Talkback, now when I try and turn it back off, the Settings screen will not scroll down to Accessibility. I Can't get this to SHUT UP!!!!
I think this is a glich in the STOCK ROM, or it's an undocumented secret.....
I found the solution... Below...
But there is still a glich when Talkback is active. The phone will NOT SCROLL when this feature is speaking...
If you have inadvertently enabled Talkback, you can quickly pause it, and then go back to disable this feature.
Anywhere on the screen, swipe down then right in a single motion, as if you were drawing an “L”.
Note: This should work whether the phone is on the lock screen or unlocked.
You will then see 2 options in the top corners of the screen, select “Pause Feedback”.
When the Suspend Talkback message appears, double tap “OK”.
You can now normally go into Settings > Accessibility and disable talkback

Reboot your phone and try again, also... no need to post multiple times, we all have lives and will try to help when we can. I am not using a stock ROM so I can't check this for you, but I'm sure someone will be around soon to try to help.
I didn't mean to double post, this site gave me an error in my browser and didn't think it posed, so I did a refresh then posted, sorry..

I want my lock screen disabled while I'm at home and at work.
According to Google:
"Smart Lock for Android. Security that just works: with Smart Lock turned on, your Android phone stays unlocked when it’s connected to a trusted device — like your smartwatch — or when it’s in a familiar spot — like your pocket. So it’s ready to use when you need it.
How to turn on Smart Lock for Android:
On your Android phone, go to Settings > Search and type in “Smart Lock.” Then tap “Smart Lock” to customize how your device knows when it’s safe to stay unlocked. "
Well, nope. Not there. For some reason, the only "Smart" search result is "Smart unlock," which allows a Bluetooth device to wake up the phone. Anybody know how to get the real Smart Lock enabled?
[edit] - sorry, I should have posted this in Questions and Answers, but I don't have rights to delete this post or move it.
Go to settings, advanced, security, and find 'trusted agents' at the bottom. Make sure smart Lock is enabled, and then check for it again.
I'd try, but that'd require setting a screen lock, which I haven't found a way to disable after setting.

I appreciate the response. I was able to find Smart Lock within Trusted Agents, but enabling it did not add the feature to the phone's settings, as far as I can tell. I tried rebooting the phone. No change.
I guess its yet another problem with EMUI.. https://www.xda-developers.com/smart-lock-on-huawei-honor-devices-emui/
