Important question is Not How ?? but Why ??
i want to use android 2.3 on my device, but whether Nexus 4 can use it or not...
Sent from my device using xda premium
well you clearly bought the wrong phone then...
I just want to run android 2.3 in Nexus4, but I don't know how to make it run 2.3 kernel

I thinks it will be fun it we can compare 2.3 and 4.2 on a nexus4 like hardware
Tapalked with a Nexus⁴
You bought a phone that gets updates from Google straight and you want to have gingerbread on it? :what:

If you run it, you're going to get a brick. it's not meant for the Nexus 4. You can't run a older OS on a newer device that absolutely has no support for it.

OMG.... Why?

That's a big "no" unless you have some serious software skills and a lot of time on your hands.
I agree, WHY?
Oh! I see... thanks all the same

I have a Perfect Solution for you.
Just sell out your device and purchase 5 Samsung Galaxy Y (S5360) Devices. You could use GingerBread as well and YOU WILL HAVE 5 PHONES AT A TIME.
WOWW
Source : My Cousin! (ASIF KHAWAJA.)
if you can write the drivers for the n4 and 2.3, and port 2.3 to the n4, then you can run 2.3 on the n4. drivers for the n4/2.3 dont exist, so you would have to write them yourself.

Definitely not impossible, but unlikely that someone will put in the work to make the ported rom work 100% on this phone. Lots of hacks have to be done because of the proprietary stuff included with roms like sense and tw.

True, but for the past Nexus, there were SP many ROMs ported from many phones.

There were no Sense ROMs ported for the Galaxy Nexus and a poorly done TW one

There is LG optimus g port in really pre alpha version right now. Looks pretty cool but no internet connection and a lot of things are broken and also the dev who ported the ROM over to nexus 4 bricked his phone so no progress has been made since then.
What does this proof? The fact that port is not impossible but requires a lot of work and a lot of stuff can be broken.

That's cause the Nexus One was basically an HTC Desire so had the same hardware. It was easy to port...
I've grown bored of CM, Slim, and Paranoid Android, so I'm looking for an interesting rom, my main stipulation is the source has to be out there so I can go and look around in it (and likely build it since I'm weird like that), MIUI looks interesting, but I'm still looking to see if the source is out there.
So I'm looking for input, does anyone have any suggestions of a ROM I can take, build and customize my own version of and use as my main rom?
I don't believe MIUI releases source code.
And essentially any AOSP ROM that has a repo can easily be built. I used AICP to build from its repo and it worked fine. Customizing has different meanings to everyone.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I though miui was closed source not positive on that but either way its awesome ROM if you find anything good please share I was looking for something like MokeOS (sp?)
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
For what its worth I use and reccomend F2FS version of Carbon ROM, but it maybe too similar to CM,Slim,PA for you.
Found a good one I can work with, tried it in the past, at the time it was a bit much, anyway, it's PACman, I did like some of the things they did with it.
I suggest liquid smooth. Its super fast and there are a ton of built in customizations. And about the coolest boot animation I've ever seen
sent from god...
Why would anyone recommend miui. It looks like iOS lol go buy a damn iPhone
I recommend slimrom. Smooth, fast and stable.

If your using All-F2FS
I'm converting every nightly build to All-F2FS
So you can be always up to date with the latest build.

I have been seeing F2FS but cant get a grasp on what it does exactly. can someone explain this for a moron like myself?
Thanks in advance!
any of these roms can be installed , i just have to update my recovery right?
Anyone flashed a rom yet? I've seen some say all roms should work, but I'm a bit hesitant.

Most likely the kernel is the only thing that is going to differ between unlocked/verizon roms.
When kernel source is released, we might see unified roms
