[BRICKED/URGENT] Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My mother has this model which long ago I rooted for her and installed a custom ROM for better battery, recently the phone turned off and never turned on again, at first I thought of the battery which was indeed completely uncharged but after that the phone wouldn't even turn on or charge (had to charge with a battery charger) it doesn't enter recovery mode or ever show the samsung logo when turning it on, but it can enter Download Mode, I have tried repartitioning since I have the .pit file with the newest Lollipop ROM but it gets stuck in initialized in ODIN, I don't know it there's any way in which I could solve this problem since she cannot go to Samsung and needs urgently her phone and I want to be able to fix it, I have all the drivers installed, the newest version of ODIN downloaded and everything and I know it is not dead from the motherboard since it can enter into Download Mode, has someone been able to fix this?

You are using a stock rom in Odin? Tried using the original Samsung USB cable? Try different cables and USB ports. Also try a different computer and operating system.
The fact that the phone goes to Odin mode is a good sign.

Odin mode is a good sign. Change the cable, the USB port and check the drivers. Also try a different computer, if you can.

Still nothing
Yeah I have practically changed form all the USBs in my laptop, from 3.0 to 2.0, also from my PC. I have tried the microSD card fix that I read from the N900T forum using a N900 unbrick.img file and everything but it still gets stuck on the initialization phase of ODIN, I have tried with ODIN 1.85, 3.07, 3.09, 3.10.7, with three 3.0 USB cables and 2 2.0 cables. I'm using the last stock N900 5.0 firmware that showed up, don't know what else to do, and there's no Samsung repair center here so thats not an option :C. Does somebody knows what else I can do? Because the computer recognizes the device as a normal Download Mode Samsung phone and ODIN shows it properly and everything, it just doesn't make like the right serial connection with the computer.
Edit: I have also discovered that when I disconnect the phone after minutes of staying in initialization it shows in ODIN that it failed but 3 lines of code appear:
Get PIT for mapping..
There is no PIT partition.
All threads removed
Don't know if it means something.

Seems like the NAND shat itself if it can't repartition.

And what can I do?, Is there a way to fix it?

Find a pit file for your phone. Make sure the pit file matches the amount of memory in your phone.

Already did, it doesn't get past the initialization part in ODIN with either the pit or any file

What about attempting a reflash with kies or smartswitch?
With Odin, you're using the original Samsung cable? Try other cables and USB ports?

Yep, have count exactly 14 USB ports to now, and Kies gets stuck at 0% :C

Progress?
Ok, after fiddling around with ODIN for almost 5 hours I decided to give Heimdall and its cousin JOdin3 a try. I deleted all the Samsung drivers even the logs with USBdeview and replaced the generic serial driver with the WinUSB one in order to use heimdall without the usblib error -12.
Everything fine with it and I have advanced in the way that it now kinda interacts with the phone via serial and not just initializes, but its receiveing an error which I cannot find a way to solve: https://goo.gl/FJJWJT
Anyone knows something about it?, I won't stop till I fix this hahaha

Really? What does it do?, I see it is an activation and unlock box

Question:
If I bought the motherboard of a SM-N900W8 that also has an Exynos chip would it work?, it's really hard to find a motherboard for the SM-N900. And the software doesn't seem to go anywhere :C

Someone?

Try that:
You can use this software to repair Your dead Samsung i9505 and similar (m919, i337, L720 etc)
Note, You need to install QHUSB Qualcomm drivers first.
After flashing with this software, You need to flash phone with official firmware and PIT file, otherwise phone will be dead again, and You'll need to repeat the process.
If You get errors reported by this software (command prompt window), You'll have to replace the eMMC chip first.

Did you install the drivers for the phone?
Did u put phone in download mode and flash with odin?
If so, trying closing all kies process, changing usb port and run odin with admin. Flash pit file and stock firmware.

Try a different data cable it worked for me

Well I've had some problems too today and there a couple of things you might want to try (I'm sure one of them will fix it):
- Pick a different USB port (preferably one in the back)
- Try a different USB cable (I used one from my Nexus 7, didn't work. Tried with the original S4 cable, worked)
- Uninstall Kies and the Samsung drivers from you control panel -> programs
- Download the Samsung USB Drivers again (google it) (do not install them yet)
- Download and install USB Deview (google it) and delete every driver of Samsung you come across in the list (just right click and click delete)
- Disable your internet access and reboot
- After rebooting install the Samsung Drivers (without an internet connection)
- Plug in your phone after you've installed the drivers and enable USB Debugging
- Reboot
- Enable your internet connection again
- Try to flash again in Odin (it should work now)
If this won't work, I don't know what will. A different USB port, cable, fresh/original drivers (not the ones Windows Update may try to install for you), etc is probably what you'll need to get it working.
thanks for every ones help we installed a fresh copy of windows 7 and installed every thing again and it worked fine defo must of been driver related
Cheers now flash away like there's no tomorrow

[Q] Trying to root with stock 4.4

I am trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (well actually i would like to install a new rom and recovery) , but i am running into a problem.
Odin3 (v1.85) only finds my phone when i am not in the recovery mode (or the sideload to be precise), adb on the other hand is able to to do sideload but the loaded images fail with "Wront footer" and "verification failed".
Some Data:
AP: N9005XXUENA7
CP: N9005XXUENA2
CSC: N9005DTMENA2
Model: SM-N9005
Android: 4.4.2 (Stock, no root)
USB Debugging: On
Reactivation Lock: Off
USB Driver: Kies 3 (also tried the CWM Drivers)
If you have KIES installed it doesn't play nice with Odin, remove KIES or kill all KIES processes and try again.

Sorry I should have said, once you uninstall KIES you remove the USB drivers, you need to install them again. Again, sorry should have said

No problem,
i actually installed the "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones" Pack after removing Kies and doing the reboot stuff.
Still don't get the device via odin.
Maybe i will remove all the drivers and try the CWM Driver again.

I tried different Ports (USB 2 and 3), different Cables and different drivers.
Removed Kies3, tripple check that debugging is on and recovery lock is off.
Still, Odin finds the device when it is not in recovery mode (sideload),
Was another user who had the same problem had to use another PC, I'm struggling to think of what may be the cause.
I had also the sane problem. I also tried all ports on my PC but did not work. I installed KIEs on my Laptop and it worked. I could flash the CWM recovery.

I did this on a new computer that never saw an Android device before.
Odin does not detect my device despite following this advice and the one before.
I installed Kies, made my device known to the Windows Device Manager, rebooted, connected device while in sideload-mode and waited until detection was finished. The next step was firing up Odin3 v1.85 and my device didn't show up, but i was able to use the adb sideload which failed with "Verification Error" when installing a new recovery or rom.
Could it be that the phone being branded by T-Mobile Germany changed the game even though the model is just plain SM-N9005 ?
Is there another option to root this device or preferably install some other rom without Odin?
Never ran into so much trouble with my Asus eeePad, the Samsung I9000 or the HTC One X.

Well when stupidity strikes you...
I always went into the recovery rom (Vol+ & Power & Home) instead of going with the odin mode (remove battery, power device on with Vol- & Home & Power).
Thanks everyone who tried to help me, but you were no match to my blindness ^^
Maybe this might help someone who utilizes the search function after he or she didn't read the tutorials carefull enough.

Looks like whoever had it tried to flash a ROM or something and failed. You'll have to flash the stock firmware in ODIN. I recommend downloading MDL and MK2, because if by chance MDL works then you can get a full custom recovery and not be restricted as to what you can flash. This phone has a locked bootloader so flashing is not as straightforward as other phones.

What links can you provide that gets me the stock ROM, MDL, and MK2.
And thank you so much for the help.
Definitely try the AMDL image first like DeadlySin9 stated. If it is still on that version, you found a diamond in the rough. You'll want to keep it from updating afterwards if it is on AMDL.
AMDL is available from sammobile.com
MK2 is available from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279
I believe you will have to register on that site to download them.

My biggest problem is this, It will not reconize the usb when I plug it in the computer. I am a computer tech, I know about usb drivers for samsung. etc...Ive done the volume down, power etc where its in download mode, it doesnt reconize the usb. Is there a way to put this on a micro sd card and install it from there? Or do I have to do it from usb?
I would try downloading the Android SDK. It may give you the drivers you need.
Otherwise, try different cables (OEM is best) and different USB ports. Make sure you download the drivers off of the Samsung website. If there is a bad driver on your machine, ensure you are checking the box to delete the driver file when uninstalling.
Otherwise, there is another program called Heimdall that ignores the windows drivers, but I'm not well versed in that one.

What the biggest problem is, I can go to Device Manager and when I plug it in, It doesnt do anything at all. No indication that a USB device in the USB section. But I havent tried kies, I figured, if a unreconized usb device wasnt in the device manager, theres no sense in going any further. EX: I plug my mouse in, it shows up in device manager somewhere. The S4 doesnt at all.

If changing cable and different USB ports hasn't helped, then the USB port on the phone is probably defective and that's an entirely different issue.
EDIT: Also try a different computer if possible.
I know this thread is an old thread but I still wanted to share. I was recently working/ playing with a couple of Samsung Galaxy s4's ( sgh-i337 & sgh-m919). I managed to get the "secure fail: kernal, unauthorized software has been detected by the system" message. These days you hook the device to smartswitch and do an emergency recovery. What I did was hooked the phones up to z3x Samsung Tool Pro in download mode. After selecting the proper device, I clicked the option to read the pit file. After reading the pit file, the device restarted normally with no message. The first time I thought may have been a weird bug but I have replicated it 3 times and the same result each time. This happened after installing or having issues with custom recovery.
Hmm it looks like whoever was trying to install a ROM or custom recovery, forgot to use the Loki exploit.
You can download the MDL firmware from my Google drive here:

If the phone won't turn on at all you might be boned.
Odin and all that obviously require you to be able to boot to download mode.
Are you positive the battery is good? Could you find another battery to try?
Does the charging light come on when its plugged in? Are there any signs of life at all?

I think it does turn on because the phone does continue to heat up but its just a black screen also i can put it into download mode and it stays there without being plugged into charge. I'm not sure about the battery ill have to check that out. ill get back to you.
It sounds like you dont have recovery or a rom installed at all.
To fix that you need odin. If the PC wont recognize the phone that is a problem. Did you try a different USB cord to connect to the PC? They are not all created equal.

yes i have used both the original one that came with the phone and the s5 one that my brother has, i have had no luck.
my phone shows up as "msm8960" or mtp usb device also it it device driver software was not successfully installed.
[UPDATE] i have found something similar to odin called JOdin3 that connects to my phone, through this i will try to flash a stock firmware, downloaded from sammobile, and see what happens.
Odin doesn't work without the drivers, and since you had an issue with the drivers that would explain why Odin doesn't work yet JOdin3 does.

No it still wont connect to either but the computer does recognize the phone.
MTP is built into Windows, so the fact the PC detects the phone is a good sign. The entire problem you're having seems to hinge on your PC rejecting the Samsung drivers, which are absolutely required for Odin to function. Those drivers should have no problems installing, and I have successfully installed them on both Windows 7 (x64) and Windows 8.1 machines so I know the installer does work.
There could be many reasons as to the source of your problem, such as a corrupt file or registry entry from when the phone soft-bricked. You want to take a closer look and do some detective work here. Uninstall the drivers if you haven't already done so. Clean out the PC with CCleaner. Even attempt a reinstall of the drivers in the PC's safe mode. Regardless of what you choose to do, if you ever wish to use Odin, you'll need to get this resolved.

yeah ill definitely try to fix the problem because odin is such a great tool. i have uninstalled and installed the samsung drivers but i'll go search the net and what not to try and find a fix. odin was working before when i flashed the stock rom and changed something to mtp and adb (i think i put in an ussd code or something (*#0808#) and through that i was able to use odin) but because the wifi wasn't working on the stock rom, i flashed a custom rom to fix the wifi problem but was once again greeted with the odin problem.

Odin, always "complete(write) operation failed"!

Whatever i try to do with Odin, installing twrp or cf-autoroot or even a stock firmware, i always get a "complete(write) operation fail".
What could be the problem?
It's a G900F from Poland, branded by the telecom provider "Plus", with a XXU1BOJ1 firmware. CSC is PLS. Reactivation lock off and usb debugging on.
Definitely a G900F? (Does it say G900F in download mode?)

Yes, definitely a 900f. I use a Windows PC with Vista, and Odin 3.11.1. The com port in Odin lights up blue when i connect the lead.
The blue progress bar on the S5 display lights up when the upload starts but doesn't reach any further than 2 milimetre, and that's it.
Haven't tried a different pc or lead as i haven't one.

Could try factory resetting the phone first from recovery
I'd definitely try get a hold of another USB lead
Try a different USB port too
And might be worth upgrading to Win 7 at least, COM port lighting up says the driver is working and can see the phone, but Vista is ancient and known for being buggy
I know you say it is definitely a G900F, but does it say that in download mode too? Just because this is the same behaviour that occurs when trying to flash a ROM for the wrong model S5, and a lot of S5s are incorrectly sold as G900Fs, they even say it in Android and on the box and sticker
Download mode can't be changed
Try from another computer. If that also fails, then I could only think of 1 thing. Your Galaxy S5's board is damaged. This happened to me back when I owned a Galaxy S3. When that happened, I did a little research and it turns out that in some cases of Motherboard failure, it will put the board in Read-Only mode, which will render and manual firmware flashing impossible. As it also turn out, the only solution was to replace the motherboard itself.
It could be other things, but if what I mentioned will not help you resolved your problem, a visit to an authorized service center could be your only hope in getting that fixed.

I know you say it is definitely a G900F, but does it say that in download mode too?

Good luck
I uploaded some movies and other files from pc to S5 to see if file transfer is okay and there seems nothing wrong. Superfast and no errors or something.
If the lead or something else is faulty then the file transfers i did would give problems or not?
This is how the screen on the S5 looks like when i try to use it with Odin. The blue progress bar doesn't go any further than this.

Looks like you have ruled out just about everything other than Vista being the issue
I know members trying with XP have had problems using ODIN too

Working perfectly for me
Solved.
At first i tried a Windows 7 copy but that didn't help either.
Then i looked at the back of my pc and noticed 2 different sets of USB ports, 2.0 and 3.0.
The lead was in a 3.0 port. Switched it to a 2.0 port and now it works.

I did try a different usb port but i sticked it right next to the 3.0 port, which was a 3.0 too.
I didn't realize that i have 2 different sets of usb ports.
