Hey guys,
I just got my first Edge, a couple of days ago.
It's a brilliant phone, I am very happy so far....BUT
How do you hold the Edge without touching its display?
Every time I want to take a picture, I am touching the display and changing the focus or it's just not taking a picture when I press the button. It's driving me crazy.
Cheers
Sven

1. check for SW updates, it's an urgent one that pretty much solves the ultra sensitivity of the display
2. in Accessibility settings> Interaction> change the Touch Delay to medium or even long
3. use a case; it's a must considering also how slippery is the phone
I'd say get a case for it. I have Spigen Neo-hybrid case for mine and so far I haven't had any issue accidentally touching the edges.

I carry my phone around in my trouser pocket in one of these.

I am always on the move with the phone in my trousers and I am sure that the buttons get pressed all day long causing the phone causing the screen to switch on. I find that with my screen off all day over the weekend, the phone lasts about 16 hours without charge (which is pretty **** anyways) but when I am out, it lasts about 8 to 9 hours max.
Does anyone else experience this?
nope i dont experience this
its more likely caused by your phone going in and out of high/low/3g/3g areas while its in your pocket. the buttons are quite hard to press accidentally imo
Apart from the top power button, it's only the middle button that wakes up the device. I have a gel case on mine (not that ugly ass full silicone wraparound crap) and the edges protrude a lot further than the buttons, so I don't seem to have this problem either.
I believe I have also had this issue. I haven't tested it via battery life, but I do sometimes pull my phone out of my pocket to see the screen on.
Additionally, I downloaded a no-lock app from the market, and whenever I went out and had the screen lock disabled, I'd pull my phone out and it would be doing something (using calculator for example). I've since, re-enabled the screen lock
Wish we could disable the menu button from turning the screen on.

I have this exact kind, 4 different colours.
Just a random eBay ad to show you what it looks like.
The lighting is a bit bright making them look a bit more glowy then they actually are in this auction.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CRYSTAL-SILIC...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item4aa13c8cfd
They have terrific grip in your hands and protect the device face down, face up and from any edge impacts. Call it the cheapest insurance policy you can ever have. I have a black x10 and got clear, smoke, blue and red ones. They all look really nice on the device.
So I've browsed around and there are plenty of screen issues, but I haven't seen the one I'm experiencing nor have I seen a solution. When I press the power button my screen comes on and turns off right away. Sometimes a few seconds after I hit the power button sometimes even longer. Most times I won't even be able to put in my security pin to unlock the phone. I see people saying Verizon will do an update soon but that isn't good enough considering I can't use the phone. I did find a loop hole to this problem. Quick start the camera with the volume down button then press the home button after the camera loads and it won't shut off by itself. I thought I'd post this method up for others having this frustration.
If this particular problem has been discussed and beaten to death then the mods can close the thread.
I've got a YouTube link but I don't have 10 posts to show you. Search for user name "vfreeza" and it is the only video I've uploaded. You'll see my first time turning the screen on was using the quick camera method and the times after is with just the power button. The screen turns off without even my hand touching the phone.
don't cover the sensor on the upper left hand side
Yup I read that too. My fingers rest at the corners of the phone and I've tried the not cover sensor thing as well, makes no difference.
Wish I could disable the sensor. I hate this problem
Sent from my LG-D802
Just a quick update. I bought a Diztronic tpu case and the moment I put it on all the problems went away. Screen acted nornal and knock works. My guess is without the case my hand is making some kind of connection it shouldn't be when I'm holding it without a case.

Did your old case hug the bezels tight? because it tends to mess with the digitizer perhaps the incipio feather case? or a plastic case of some sort? just curious im pretty sure that was your problem cause if you barely press on the screen youll notice waves in the lcd screen and since the bezels are so small on this device some cases can do that.

thats extremely odd but im glad you got it fixed!
Thanks! This case is never coming off! haha
My phone has that very problem and it's driving me insane.. i love this phone, but it truly is a hassel to use it after its been idle for awhile.. or at night... hands no where near the sensor or anything, it could be laying straight up or down n itll still have that problem.. thanks for reading.
I normally just wipe the sensor area, n it magically starts working again.. n i don't touch it, n the problem comes back after awhile....
Also naked phone besides screen protector, but it's not covering up the sensor.
My phone does the same thing. It's so ****ing annoying.
In playing around with my Verizon Note Edge today, I discovered I was able to turn on the Edge screen by quickly swiping from the bottom of the edge screen, up about a third of the way, and then quickly back down (starting at the top and swiping down and then back up also works). It turns on the night clock and then started scrolling showing any pending notifications...pretty sweet! I do have the flip case on the phone, but did remove it to test it without and it still seemed to work. I have not been able to find anything documented on this, but it worked for me. Anyone else? I am really glad I made the decision to wait for the Edge!

I use action launcher 3 as launcher replacement and it has a tap feature that allows you to tap on the screen to turn it off, similar to LG G2 and G3... I use it all the time. not the same as what you posted but I wanted to share just in case someone is wondering

This hidden features hardly people knows but I already know this thing.
This can also be a hassle as I found out when the edge screen kept on rubbing against the inside of my pocket and accidentally turn on and drain my battery.
You must have some pretty tight jeans for it to do that...

This is a really cool feature - I notice that your screen stays on for sometime while scrolling thru your notifications... I have the VZW Note Edge as well but my screen times out within 30 seconds regardless of what I have my "Edge screen timeout" set to in system settings / Edge Screen - is there another way to keep the Edge screen active or from timing out so quick?
Just with the setting you already mentioned...it seems to work for me.
Use the gravity app....
Excellent app. I only use the power button to turn phone on and off...
And the bonus has been I don't accidently turn off the screen when turning volume up and down... was a constant menace on my note 2
i have a S6 Edge+ and its got a cracked screen. it has a big black spot the size of a fingertip on the right middle like something stabbed it maybe.
sometimes when i got to wake it up, phone is on and i press the power button the lights on the bottom come on, the cascade window button and the back button............but the screen does not light up. it kind of flickers and i see the permanent damaged part, a green strip down the right side of screen but does not turn on.
sometimes i have to press the power button to wake up and put to sleep 6 or 10 times for the screen to light up.
my question:
do you think this is simply from the screen being damaged.
have you seen anything like this before on a phone
do you think if i spend the money to fix the screen this issue will be fixed?

Yes.
Yes, on my son's Xperia Z5 Compact. He hadn't dropped it or damaged it in any way - just happened.

Fixed by Sony, phone is insured.
Yes, take it to Samsung store to repairing.
Ok, I have booted into safe mode and the problem does not exist. this means its a sofware issue, obviously. Here is the dilemma, I have done factory and hard resets to include the cache partition. How might i go about fixing this issue until they release a new update from android 5.1.1???
Can anybody tell me what core we use to put the touchwiz snappier, I saw one one topic but I can't find it now. We only have to put the code and the phone was so quick like the day we Unbox the phone. Thanks
Has anyone found a way to adjust the touch sensitivity of the screen like on the older models. You used to be able to adjust it very sensitive to work with gloves. It seems that this screen is a little less sensitive than the S7. I find myself having to double tap a lot of things. Is it there and I am just missing it?
Good Question...but no reply yet
Yes mine is also not sensetive enough, i also have s8 plus and its much more sensetive
S8+ touch sensitivity issue
I am having an S8+ and facing the same sensitivity issue. It's very slow to respond and most of the times take more than one tap to respond. And there are no adjustments found!!
Pranabesh Das
Up. Having the same issue on my S8.
Yeah sometimes I have to tap apps 3-4 times to get them to launch.
Do you all have screen protectors? I have one but I don't want to remove it cause I paid a lot for it.
I also have weak touch sensitivity on my Galaxy S8, I have to tap several times on a certain app to open it, so frustrating, will probably return my device! :/
My S8+ is over sensitive...
Is there any fix for this +
Same issues on my S8. Most time i must push 2 or 3 time to open a app.
