Ok I've been debating this for a while talked to a couple people and asked in the nexus 5 threads. Just so I get a complete view id like to ask here as well. I have a 16 GB white nexus 5 in prefect condition and there a 32 GB lg g2 in perfect condition on craigslist that someone wants to trade for nexus 5. The problem is it's at&t but unlocked. Does that matter? Is it exactly the same on the inside as the T-Mobile version? It seems all at&t phones are worth less for some reason. Theyre always cheaper on places like eBay and craigslist. Is there any difference besides the logo? Also what are you guy's opinions on this? I contacted the person and it seems legit and they want to meet in public place so it's safe. Also the lg g2 has bigger battery, and slightly bigger screen and size isnt too different. I'm not worried about updates because of custom ROMs and I'm sure the g2 will get KitKat and at least one more version officially.
Please give me your opinions especially people who have both devices. Oh yeah and also which feels better build and how is g2 without a case? Is it fragile? Or is it solid and can survive falls? I'll probably use a case but would like to know. Thanks and maybe I'll be seeing you guys more later on if I decide to trade

i came from a note 3 to the g2. it has been perfect in every aspect for me including size and by far the most amazing battery life i've ever gotten on any phone. I too arent worried about updates because i only use aosp custom roms. The g2 is a fingerprint magnet so im not gonna lie about that and i wont know how it'll do in a fall but it seems pretty durable and should withstand a fall lets say from 3 feet or less. You wont be dissapointed at all. Hope i answered some of your questions

Alright thanks hoping to hear from a couple others as well. Do you think aosp ROMs will be around for it up to date for at least 2 more years? (I think it will but not sure as I haven't seen how active this section is). Also do you have att or T-Mobile version or any other? And what company do you use. My dad told me using an att phone on T-Mobile makes the data not work as well but I thought they were the same phone so I don't know if that makes sense. Thanks for the answer though. If you like it better than note 3 I'm sure I'll like it.

if battery is important to you then yes. No matter what the Nexus 5 fan boy will say or do, they will not beat that extra mAH, its like saying you can swim faster than michael phelps if you keep training for the rest of your life, genetics was built into him and thats what he was born to do.

Alright thanks battery is a big part but not major. I would like a bigger battery but it's not really needed. But the bigger battery, camera, and slightly bigger screen together are convincing.
But does anyone know about the T-Mobile/at&t "issue" I described? If that's not an actual problem then I think I'll trade.
Also do you guys think this is legit? It seems a little too good doesn't it? Especially since the other phone is 32 GB while mine is 16 GB. They claim there is no issues and it's in perfect condition. Are there any specific things I should look for because they said I could try it out and make sure everything is working.

its hard to predict how the developer support will be 2 years...
when you look for newest android stay with n5.
first i think the g2 is even more value (overall it feels more like an 600€+ phone) for the dollar euro than the n5. i got mine for 379€, the N5 would be 349€ and 399€ in stores here.
i absolutly love the tiny bezel. the screen just pops right out. compared to its display size, the device is relativ small and can be operated with one hand.
yes it is an fingerprint magnet. iam thinking of getting protection just because of that fact. until now i have kept it naked and even dropped it twice. i got lucky and it didnt land on the screen. but it did skid face first on the bathroom floor: got lucky, no scrachtes.
batterylife is really, really good. i also kinda like the lg stock rom. after optimization and heavy debloating and some mods to the notification bar and other xposed goodies i can resist flashing aosp. with the samsung device it was aosp day one always.
the ois camera, 24hz 192kbits audio playback and hardwarebutton on the back sets the phone apart from other phones. knockon/off also is a really nice feature i dont want to miss ever again.
after some getting used to the camera and the ips screen (came from amoled) it is a keeper for me. at least until the end of this year:good:

Thanks a lot. Yeah android version isn't too much of an issue. As long as theres at least one ROM with latest version like pa or cm or omni or slim. Any of those are great and hopefully they will support for a long time.
Now if anyone knows anything about at/tmobile "issues" I mentioned please tell me. Sorry for asking so much but that's really the main thing holding me back so far.
Sent from my white LG Nexus 5
If what I was saying didn't make sense about the issues I meant data compatibility. This explains it a little better. That's what I'm worried about because I use lycamobile which runs on T-Mobile towers. So will this issue be there if I get the at&t lg g2? https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-discussion?content=/api/core/v2/discussions/37961

Ok I got this one answered by looking in development thread and noticing that most ROMs show d800/801/etc so most support all versions
Now last question is the compatibility for data

Can't speak on the rom/flashing aspect since I don't care about that stuff anymore...And while I do miss the build of the N5 (I dunno it just feels nice to hold) the G2 is soooo much better in obvious ways such as display and battery life. Battery life alone is the greatest reason to switch and was the reason I did so. There are also other reasons for the switch that you can read about or you may already know about...The built in remote control is nice to have and can help alleviate boredom if you're somewhere else
Ok thanks. I know the g2 is better in most ways but soft ware. The thing I need confirmation on is if anyone using an unlocked att d801 g2 with other companies like tmobile has data fully working. I heard it has issues sometimes. Or does it work alright as long as apns are correct?

Thanks I think I'm going to. I might trade but there's lots of brand new ones for 300-350. Where did you sell yours? Mine is in perfect condition because of the case and screen protector since first day and I'll be seelling those with it so I'd hope to get at least 350 (I have the 16 GB)

i sold mine on craigslist, here in the Seattle area, i had the 32gb model.
OK I've been convinced that I really want a g2 (maybe not right now). But I don't want to trade it. My nexus 5 is pretty amazing so I don't want to trade for a used phone. But if I can sell it for enough to buy a new g2 I'm going to. I'll have to tell the guy that I'm not going to trade. I feel kind of bad because he was pretty nice and waited for me to decide. But the phone doesn't come with all original stuff and I don't really feel confident in a phone used by someone else no matter how well I test it. I got the nexus 5 brand new and after a small RMA annoyance I got a fully working perfect one. So if I have a chance to get a new one I'll hopefully get it.

Hi, I can't make up my mind. Should I buy this phone LG G2or should I go for a moto g 2015?
I don't like the G3 because it heats up insanely...
Thanks for the help.
Edit: sorry for my mistake in the thread title. It should be "Is the LG G2 still worth it?"

Coming from someone who owns both a G2 & Moto G, get the G2.
Moto G 2015 is a good phone no doubt but no match for the G2.
I was in the same dilemma a fee weeks back, if you're well versed in rooting and roming then definitely get the G2(that's what I did), has a more powerful processor, higher resolution display, bigger screen, better screen to body ratio, etc.
The only issue is the software, as I said if you want a good software experience you'll have to root it.

I'm planning to get one as a 2nd phone for work
The g2 is great to be honest I like it more then some of the phones that came out this year maybe because I get ROMs without ruining the phone or having hard flashing directions
The device itself is great, but be careful where you buy it from. Some people (myself included) have purchased 'frankenphones', devices that are made up of parts from different model G2's.
Thanks. I'm buying it from Amazon. Should be original.
Did you buy it in a Chinese store?

The 3rd Gen Moto G is a good phone as I've just bought one for a friend.
Even though my G2 is still running stock 20H KK 4.4.2, there is no way I'd swap it for a Moto G. Even though the G2 is 2 years old now, you can still see its a premium phone. Battery, Screen Quality, IR blaster, LED Notification Light, Battery.........
In 2 years time, some will still be rocking a G2.
Everybody is praising the lg g2. great.

I received my OnePlus 2 yesterday, but be sure I'll not give up G2 for now. Also Android M AOSP development started on G2, so I'll try to compile it for the G2.
So yeah, G2 is still a great phone.

Oh man!! Decisions, decisions!
NewEgg has the 128gb 6P listed at $500 on their ebay for 2 days only (ends tomorrow).
I'm trying to decide if I want to go with guaranteed software updates for the next few years, or some hardware that I've been waiting for, for several years (the good speakers), but not quite the software development the Nexus will receive (from Google and custom ROM bakers).
Ultimately, I'm going to do what I want... Just curious what the masses think?:fingers-crossed:
Axon 7..... I was tempted as well, but the Axon 7 is the only device in years that has checked off all the boxes on my list of things I wanted in a device.
Also, I think this device will have decent Dev support. Even the OnePlus 2 I just sold had decent support and it was a very hated upon device. Besides, with it being a Google Daydream VR capable device; they're going to have to update it to N as soon as possible for that functionality.
I was looking at a CNET video on YouTube and it said that the phone will run the ZTE operating system and it can be changed to run a pure stock Android system.

That's what the reps are pretty much saying on the ZTE forums. Supposedly their skin is light, and kinda close to stock; but you can also either turn the skin off or run a different build. The last part hasn't been cleared up as to how just yet? It's good to see they're listening though.
Axon 7 all the way!
I have been following the Axon 7 but am worried about it being locked down tight like their previous devices. I haven't read anything about this trend being reversed with the 7. With secureboot enabled with the SD820 if they don't allow us to unlock the bootloader their will be no Dev support as is the case with the US S7. I sold my N6P and miss it to the point where I'm almost ready to buy another. I've decided to wait just a bit to see what ZTE gives us but won't buy it unless it's unlockable.

That's a tough one... Android updates Vs better specs and what promises to be really good audio (both from the speakers and headphone jack).
I carry two phones ( work and personal) I have a Nexus 6p 128GB and an LG G5. I think I may replace with G5 with the Axon 7 as I want that superior audio as both the 6P and G5 are inferior to my old Note 4 in that regard.
I guess it depends how important update is to you...
Good luck and Alons-y!

l'm holding out for the Axon 7.... Sold my S7 Edge that I traded my 6P for (because I knew I was going to flip it really quick and the S7 would bring more). So I have $600 sitting in my "new phone fund" (otherwise known as my guitar case) and I'm anxiously awaiting.
The Moto Z with the add-on audio module looks cool, but is fairly bulky with the speaker module on it. If I'm going to go through the steps to snap on a module, I'll just grab my bluetooth speaker....So Axon 7 it is.
If it gets rooted and has a strong development following, software updates won't be an issue. I'll keep my fingers crossed for that.
Geronimo!!!! (although 10 is my favorite)

lol, that's the most OT thing I've ever read here....
I bought this device because it was overall very good in all the reviews I read. I read that the charger that came with it didnt support Quick Charge 2.0. That was the first dissapointment. When i received it, it was running Android 6.0. I did an OTA check and no updates were available. I decided to download Lg Bridge and i finally found one update. I bought this device on one condition, to avoid LG UX 4.0. And guess what, my phone was part of an ever growing crowd of people who didnt have the eu bootloader! I felt like I was smacked in the face. I searched the internet for more info and my fears were confirmed. Ever since that i vowed to never buy from LG again. Android is about Freedom and there is none of that on the LG G4. European market bias confirmed:crying:. Months after the discovery I had witnessed the scariest thing ever, I was listening to some music with my LG earphones plugged in. And suddenly i couldnt wake the damned thing anymore but when i touched the screen i could hear typing sounds, I had to pull the battery out. The battery life on the thing was mediocre at best, the screen never lived up the my expectations, the phone gets dangerously hot when i use snapchat. The only thing going for the LG G4 is its camera which was probably the best in 2015. I simply cannot stand the lag on the phone anymore and I am searching for other phones. Im not that kind of person who spends 600 euros on a phone. Then the Oneplus 3 showed and for 400 euro i get a phone 2 times as powerful, dash charging, an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER and a premium design. Whats more Oneplus actually tries to fix its phones and released tons of fxes for the OP2. Im pretty sure the phone will get Android Nougat even if it takes a while(after witnessing what speedy updates meant on the LG G4 I would prefer slow and steady progress). The only thing the oneplus loses in is the camera department which will improve. Im tempted to wait for the 2016 Nexuses as they will have the best Android experience as well as support for Daydream vr. Ive also checked out the ugly zenfone 3 deluxe which will cost much more than 400 euro. The Axon 7 is also tempting but im not sure if the 6gb version will come out for Europe, the bootloader seems to be locked for now(news next week on whether it will be unlocked) So guys should i wait for the more expensive Nexus by HTC or look out for the OP3 and Axon 7?
You're not alone.
After a year of using it
Pro:
- Battery life, yes it last more than one day, and never need the 2nd battery
- Camera, I am not a pro, but keep getting compliment saying the photos are awesome
- Screen, I have no complaint, but nowaday a lot of high-end phone gets 1440p screen
- Quick eMMC speed and SD support
Cons:
- Still no unlocked BOOTLOADER!
- ****ty OS
- SLOW CPU nowaday
- Poor Wifi (50% vs my iPAD air 2 full bar)
- Very poor resale value
- Leather gets dirty quickly and expensive to replace
Verdict: The camera is holding me from getting another phone. It will be either Note7, Nexus 2016, or iPhone7.
I do not agree with some things here. The leather is not getting dirty fast at all except if you are not careful enough. I have the phone since February and the leather is like day one. I do agree that those covers are too expensive. The phone gets warm but so do many others with Snapdragons. Only my S6 and iPhone does not get very warm. It's a common issue with Android phones due to their hardware. The latest Snapdragons tend getting warmer than other chips. My 6P was getting very warm too. Metal is good for cooling during winter but during summer it absorbs the surrounding heat faster than other materials. The battery life is OK. Just OK nothing outstanding. I get 3 to 4h SoT indoors with WiFi and 1 to 2h SoT outside with 4G. The screen of G4 is 1440p except if I didn't understand correctly what you wrote. It's like you implied that the G4 has no QHD screen which is wrong. Overall the phone is one of the snappiest and lag free I ever had. It definitely feels more snappy than the 6P which shocked me when I bought it. The UX is OK. I find it a bit ugly and uninspired. It misses some options and features. Like settings search. The only thing that bothers me with this phone is the Bootloop issue and the absence of fingerprint reader. I will never buy OnePlus though. No official service centres in many countries and very slow Android updates. Look when they got Marshmallow. Their OS is buggy as hell. Also I will never again trust a phone with an OLED panel except from Samsung's. All non Samaung phones that have OLED tend to have weak and lower quality panels which are bad optimised. My guess is OEMs order lower grade OLED panels from Samsung to cut costs. G4 has one of the best screens I ever had. G4 and my older S6. I live in a sunny country and I had problems with many phones which were absolutely not visible during the day. For the price it is still one very good phone. Now it's dirty cheap. LG just lost their Mojo. They are trying too hard to innovate and do crazy things and lost the basics in the process.

Same, start on Apple, screw them to hell
Next, got LG, stared good, now it sucks
Moving to Samsung!
I was always trash talking sony, after buying this one I feel bad for that. I did not even know i bought a dual version until i got it :c
Now there is no unlock/root for me (bye-bye dualshock, drivedroid etc). Buy cheap, buy twice.
After a year or so, my main issue is the weak SoC.
It is really showing its age (weaker overall than 2 years old Snapdragon 805). I'm not even playing games, but using the likes of Google Photos takes its toll on the CPU and the battery drains fast.
Sometimes, it struggles to keep up with daily tasks (Google Maps, instant messaging apps, web browser, Strava, camera) : laggy, overheating.
Looking forward to the V20.

V20 attracts me too, but G4 is a great phone. Unfortunately, the battery is bad, but

Jesus people, stop crying and make a reaserch before you gonna buy a phone. This kind of posts are on every phone forum, every single one, G4 is my 11th Android phone, I had Motorola, Sony, OPO2, OPPO, Samsung and on each forum I've seen countless posts like this. FYI - LG is a first phone that I really like after one year of using, just before I bought it I have read about unlocking bootloader, root, etc and chose it after some reaserch.

not just that mine was dead in 2 days after an official update via lg bridge. i am a poor man ... i hope lg make things right but i dont think i can afford another until i am a grand grand parent...
i have seen few htc with my friends htc m8 ithink they were they had a solid build quality and never gave a problem to them all 3 of them running cynogen i bet quality wise htc or samsung are best Huawie and chinese phones are not attrctive but have solid build quality i knw this for sure
I'm done with LG as well. I wonder if anyone from LG reads REAL communities and learn from this? Mine is battery life, while some get good life, mine is at 50% by noon and I start at 9 am, so that's not saying a lot for this phone. Of course the locked bootloader, but even more than the lock, their OS is just abysmal, why, just why?
I can't wait until the Zenfone 3 Deluxe shows up in Canada.

Oh dude, so here is what your NOT UNDERSTANDING. The H812 (Canadian Version) came shipped with Android 5.1. It DID NOT have a locked bootloader. Then one day in February we got the Magical Unicorn also knows as Marshmallow. Like many MANY other people, we updated the OTA because we just needed that battery improving upgrade, after-all Europe got this update 2 months before and are happily running the phone the way they see fit...Stock, Roms, Root, whatever. SURPRISE PHONE BOOTLOADER LOCKED UPON OTA. This has nothing to do with the actual phone itself as a functioning electronic device, this has to do with LG's GIANT FK YOU Canada.

Sorry but your point is not valid, the sellers don't tell you if its the European bootloader version or not.
I have the Singapore model so I'm stuck with what I have.

European reseller has no right to sell you Singapore version as warranty won't be valid in Europe, if you referring to some eBay sellers then you can always ask about country origin.

There must be a way to restore the bootloader . I read on some post taht a guy used a ZTE software to rewrite all phone partitions and he modified IMEI and Device ID . He did not changed bootlaoder but I think there must be a way .I will look for that post and I will post here . He explained that his phone was switching mode and appeared in his Windows Device manager like a serial COM device and he had access to all phone partitions ,about 20-30 of them .

"The video below shows the researcher using his app to root an Android-powered HTC phone, which is connected to a computer by a USB cable. The first ID and su commands show that the device is unrooted. After running "moo"the name of the file containing the exploit codeand then running the su and ID commands again, it's clear that the device has been rooted."

I had LG G4 for 1 year and a half, i was tierd of waiting for software fixes, Android 7 etc... The phone got worse day by day, even after factory reset. On 31 December i have switched to Moto Z, 2 days ago i got Android 7 via OTA, the phone is flowless and the camera is slightly better then G4, also the battery life is better, and dont forget that you can add modules. I will buy the Incipio pack with 2220mAh. Just read the reviews.
Hello Guys,
Confused between buying the new OP 3T which would be fairly ahead in hardware department with 821 SoC, 6GB RAM & DASH charge but then there Nexus 6P amazing speakers,2K screen, awesome camera and of-course the timely android updates till next nov.
Please suggest your views to help finalize my next Droid
Well it honestly depends on which features you require the most. Better specs does not mean a faster phone. If its possible. Try to use both. And then make your decision!

I have never seen such a problem mentioned in above link with my Nexus 6p unless you start flashing the phone. Its hard to decide between 6p and OP

You should pick the OnePlus 3T and I'm a Nexus 6P happy hardcore user.
What you gain:
- Newest SoC
- More RAM
- More battery life because the FullHD screen
What you lose:
- 0,2" screen size
- Stereo speakers
- 2K screen resolution
I love my Nexus 6P but honestly, if I will need a new smortphone I already know my choice.
My two cents.
Non of the above! Like the Nexus6 P, I think the Huawei Mate 9 will be a SuperStar!
Too big ?

I also love my 6P but I got the itch for a new phone. So I been pondering on the OP3T the Development for the OP3 is good and I would assume the OP3T would be also.
I really can't find another phone that catches my attention ..

The answer is simple unless you have Verizon or Sprint; then it's 6p.
So the answer is carrier dependent.
If any of you have ever had to deal with the outright lies and nonexistent support from OP, I would steer clear of them. I was one of the early adopters of the OPO and went through hell trying to get a phone that was worth a crap. Yes, it had great specs, but did not live up to the hype. In fact, the whole company was a hype machine in the early days. I am sure that there are some later adopters of the OP around here that can give you some later information about the company. As for me, I will never put myself through the hell of dealing with them again.

I'll say wait a bit... We got a new processor coming in soon ... Like within 3 months... And then 821 is kaput....
But given a urgent consideration if I have no working phone with me... I'll got for HTC10...
Bought my Dad that phone and he hasn't been happier.... No lags whatsoever... Compared to his 2nd phone Mi5...
His words not mine...

I have a 6p and 1+3
My 6p is 10 months old amd and i can see it lagging
I mean 3gb ram isn't enough i have to reboot my phone every 4th day to clear ram
I am not a heavy user lol no games
But this is what it is
My 1+3 is 2 weeks old and i can see the difference
The only reason it's not my daily driver and i gave it to my dad was ****ty camera
It really sucked and being a heavy snapchatter lol i had to stick with my 6p
Go for the 1+3T after seeing the camera reviews
Even the front camera of 1+3 sucked so much
Cheers

Ahhh ok me too a nexus lover ..I'll be upgrading from Nexus4 so i'm inclined towards 6P for its design, speakers, camera and quick OTA's .. but then reading all posts here & you too suggesting a better hardware is first then the other things.
I need to finalize today ..as OP3T is launching tomorrow.

3T of course. Newer soc, better battery life?
The 6p, as good as it it is right now is getting boring. I drooled every time I read about the 3T, Pixel, or the V20s.
6p for the aluminium body and front facing speakers
