I can't figure out why the Facebook App on the N10 acts differently than on my N7 and N4.
For example I can't access my timeline by clicking on my profile as usual, instead it only shows a protocol of my last actions/activities.
It doesn't seem normal to me, is it a bug on the N10 out is it a crappy feature?

Same issue here. Pictures are missing too.
I've tried to force it to a different layout or size with Paranoid Android, but no joy
Try Friendcaster instead?
Friendcaster FTW :good:. It works perfectly, loads fast, runs great, and looks beautiful on the Nexus 10. I enjoyed it so much more over the official Facebook app that I decided to buy the ad free version .
Never even installed it, just got used to using the web version on my X2 cause the app sucks
What is facebook? Isn't every one on G+? Buahaha!!!!
I reported it two days ago. Been fixed today...
Problem with Friendcaster and other third party apps is that if any of your friends have set their privacy settings to not allow use of their timeline by third party apps, you won't see their posts.
Updated Facebook app today is way faster sometimes, but I'm also getting long hangs I never got before when tapping on notifications.
I generally on the N10 just look at FB in Chrome. Wish they'd get a tablet app out!

The latest update 121312 is really good... best version of FB app ever for Android.
Am I also supposed to get huge images in the timeline???
And if so: is it working for you? And what apps are greenified on your nexus?

Yes.
Yes.
Maps is a big one. It likes to run in the background and eat up battery.
im using, its working, and most my apps are greenified, besides a few root apps. i dont use notifications for any app besides gtalk and gmail, so i greenify all that i can. i also use an app called autostarts, which works well in conjunction with greenify
ya
I still don't know it's purpose.
Yolo
I can't get facebook message notifications even though I ungreenified them
I used to use it. Among the apps I Greenified were:
1. Facebook
2. Maps
3. ESPN Scorecenter
Although I found that WhatsApp and Viber woke my device quite often, I use them all the time so it didn't make sense to include them in the list.
In terms of effect, it did reduce battery consumption some. But then I figured I'd just be a responsible user and sparingly install apps and turn off notifications altogether if I didn't really need them (or use bookmarks to mobile web versions instead). If you really need all your apps, then Greenify is a safe choice.

The concept of turning off notifications altogether is good only of the app is properly written for it. For example Facebook.... Even if you turn off all notifications whatsoever it still creates wakeups.

Correct. Which is why I now use m.facebook.com instead. The Facebook app is a really terrible battery drainer.
I see maps waking up the phone quite often. But will Google now still work if you greenify maps?

My phone will, when using various apps I've been using for years, suddenly open the play store and redirect me to Candy Crush or Caesar's slots. I'm getting sick of this. Does anyone know why this is happening? Lookout hasn't found any viruses or anything.

Try AirPush detector and see if some app is causing it to happen.
I actually had this happen from the browser. A damn play store "pop up". Surprised the hell out of me. Was also for candy crush. I also have pop ups disabled. I noticed this happen after I defaulted play links to the store. Must somehow disable the check.
Wow these adware companies are getting even more aggressive now a days
Same issue here.
Uninstalled everything except stock Google apps and same thing happening with pop up (candy crush), so I guess whatever is installed can't be uninstalled! Airpush or Ad detector software can't find the culprit either.
This is a huge security issue..... Reporting to Google
Browsers do it too... Doesn't have to be an app. It's a redirect "popup" avoiding standard android popup detection. I found this out by getting one before I defaulted links the play store. I actually got asked one time lol. The security issue would be a redirect to an actual infested page, which the built in popup blocker does block. The problem lies in the call of playstore only through playlink, which really can't cause harm being it can only show you the app, nothing further. Would be nice if fixed... Simply set to ignore non user clicked playlink pushes and implement a touch check.

I thought it was the browser I was using (Next), but problem persists across chrome and boat so I think it's some stealth junk installed in my system.
Google needs to find a fix for this, especially when airpush and ad detector apps can't resolve.
It isn't any stealth junk. Its browsing. Http. Port 80. The interwebs. Ect. Ect. It is not an app. It is not a service. Hence airpush or ad detectors will not detect it. Simply a link.

You seem knowledgeable. How is it fixed? Simple restore of browser settings??
Hi there,
I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S5 which I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
Basically I got a message from Samsung Apps store telling me that I have updates available for some preinstalled/built-in apps. These are:
* S Note
* Optical Reader
* S Translator
* Scrapbook
However here is the interesting part. These applications are not installed on my phone! At least they don't seem like they are. For instance, they are not under the Apps menu and they don't show under Application Manager -> All.
Moreover, if I update Scrapbook then (and only then) the app is shown under the Application Manager. What is even more interesting is that if I click on the application under Application Manager, it then gives me the option to uninstall the application, instead of the option to uninstall updates which is what I really get with built-in apps such as Gmail, S Health, etc.
So if I uninstall Scrapbook after I installed it (agian, the available option is to uninstall the entire app - ot the updates as if it was a built-in app), the app disappears from my phone (as expected), and then it shows back as an available update for a preinstalled/built-in app! How weird is that?!
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Try opening Samsung Apps, then select the option Purchased under Settings. There under Updates I can see the apps available for updates with in fact does not exist in my Android phone. I wonder if anyone else can replicate this issue?
I thought those were all installed previously, maybe I don't remember but it's not such an bad thing. They want you to try their apps to get their experience. It's understandable considering they include their own app store and some apps preinstalled.

I have the same issue. I put it down to Samsung poor wording. It's a little annoying but I can live with it.

Actually they are NOT all installed previously, and the issue is that Samsung Store keeps bugging me to update them when in fact I don't want to install them. So this is not understandable at all...
Same for me, today I disabled auto updates amd notifications in the Samsung app

Hah. in fact it just added two more apps under the "updates" tab. Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle S/W Update and NNL Fingerprint Passport.
VERY ANNOYING But I did what you suggested and disabled the auto updates.
I keep getting this happen to me too.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
i wonder if it is because the apks are installed, but not activated at a system level....
i bet you the "bloat" is built into the stock ROM somehow....maybe that's why it is recognizing it as "update" rather than "install"
I find this annoying as well. My phone belongs to the company so I don't want to root it until there's a workaround for knox so I disabled or stopped a lot of Samsung apps. I'm still getting updates for them. I went on their support website and complained. I got a response. (A lame response, but at least a response.) I also complained to the Samsung app store. Complaining here is guaranteed to not make any difference. Complaining to Samsung might eventually make a difference if enough people do it.
I just disabled the Samsung store app since I could care less about Samsung's crummy store and their apps.
Same here - I went through and "updated" all of them before realising that they weren't even installed so I uninstalled them. Some of the apps were ones that were installed as standard on the S4 - so I'm guessing that they're apps that Samsung recommend you install.
Either way, it means that any *real* updates for apps that are only in the Samsung store rather than in Play won't happen now as I've disabled Samsung updates. Well done Samsung.
Why the hell can i not uninstall the facebook app? I only received the phone like an hour ago but so far iam very happy! No issues etc I was just uninstalling some apps however and was quiet please that theres very little bloatware but the one remaining app i want to delete 'Facebook' cannot be deleted! Why? The facebook app was always an app that was up to the user wether they wanted it or not! After all..... not everyone uses facebook and not everyone wants to use the app so why force it on us with no option to uninstall?

No mine is factory unlocked! Ironically theres very little bloatware on this device in comparison to previous devices! Iam impressed!! Facebook is probably the only app pre installed that i don't want but sadly i cannot uninstall it
I think Facebook is part of operating system installed on the phone, so it's kind of permanent, but you can disable it and that was the first thing I did on my phone. However for some strange reason facebook installation manager is used by Oculus to install it's VR applications and since my kids use VR to play sometimes, I had to enable it back, but facebook application itself can be disabled.

Thats strange! I guess its no big deal! Id rather have it uninstalled but i will just disable it and download an alternative for facebook instead! Are you saying that if i want to use VR that i have to enable it again though??

Almost all samsung apps were indeed uninstallable this time around, which impressed me, too. I think if you really wanted to get rid of FB, you'd have to root your phone and delete the APK from the system partition.
just disable it, it's better than nothing
Yeah I was pretty puzzled too. Weird that they have Facebook as a system app.

There are 2 Facebook apps on my phone: Facebook app installer and Facebook app manager, you can disable manager but keep the installer for Oculus to work. BTW you won't see the installer until you enable system apps.
I rarely use facebook, but when I do I use it on either chrome or the samsung browser. I use it in facebook mobile mode, but when I want to check any messages I have to switch over to desktop mode as mobile mode will prompt to install facebook messenger. Bottom line, you don't need the facebook app to use facebook, use chrome or samsung browser (lately I am finding I like samsung internet better as it seems to make text the proper size to be more easily readable and also you can add an extension to sync your chrome bookmarks and history to the samsung internet browser) - anyway, use one of these browsers in mobile mode. The facebook app has too many permissions and location following for my tastes. Eff that. I disable it with package disabler pro.
Facebook is needed to do VR. If it's not enabled oculus doesn't launch.

It looks like Samsung made deals with companies which are kinda like enemies to each other. For example messaging apps:
Google - CHECK
Facebook - CHECK
Microsoft- CHECK
Samsung - CHECK

A friend called me using facebook on pc and asked me to help him call a taxi to his home and he told me the address cos his phone was dead and he couldnt call. I ended the FB call and called my usual taxi number (gsmcall) . Ususally, someone picks up and asks where you want the taxi... But instead i get computer voice saying "press 3 if you need taxi for "my friend's address" I didnt give anyone the address and it wasnt even written. but somehow the computer knew where i wanted to call taxi for. I ended the call without speaking to anyone cos it was strange and later i received sms that taxi was waiting. A taxi lady called to tell me my taxi was waiting then i asked her how they sent taxi to me without me giving her the address. she ignored my question and told me taxi is waiting.. then the taxi guy left.
It was scary..
So i went to my facebook app and messenger app to check the app permissions (there are so many permissions granted to facebook without your permission and you dont have access to disable it.. "like record your calls without your knowledge, and many more.."
i found this paid appp "advanced permission remover" it helps u view all those permissions you dont have access to and dissable them, the app creates new apk and the you uninstall the one you have before installing the new app.
But i get error message that "app cant be installed because its conflicting with app that have the same name" both fb and messenger...
I found a way to unistall facebook from system using computer without rooting my Note 8 which i can tell you but it didnt help. After uninstalling, I still cant install my modified fb app. It still says app is conflicting and when i install from playstore, atleast to have it as user app not system app. the facebook app installs itself back to system and you cant uninstall. So you have to do the whole process again using pc if you dont want it
i dont know why FB has to be a system app and the rate at which facebook spys on you is ridiculous.. if you having a discussion about someone and your phone is close to you. after a period of time, that person shows up as friend suggestion..
pls suggest a good third party app to use instead of the main facebook app
Uninstalling system app using pc

Do you have an unlocked S8 or a sim-locked one?
If the latter, Facebook app could be part of the bloatware installed by your carrier.
Download BK package disabler (samsung ) from the play store. The app can remove system apps without root. Btw Facebook wasn't system app on my S8 I can easily delete from my phone.
