Problem using headphones on my new Nexus 6p - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody,
I've just got my Nexus 6p and I have a problem using headphones. Both my headphones (Skullcandy Fix and ATH SJ33) don't work - the phone doesn't recognize them. They both worked completely fine on my previous LG G3. Is this a known problem? What can I do?
Thanks in advance

Are they BT headphones or wired? If wired, they may have an inline switch for different pole settings.

Have you tried more headphones? If so, and they've worked, you should contact Google.

Why would that even be an issue nowdays with any smartphone ? Maybe you need to ask if anybody has any issues pairing with their car, not the other way around.

understood - but given that there are so many smartphones and so many cars with BT, it just seems that there are more problems than success stories. I've mostly heard/read of only problems, not when it actually works as expected the first time. also, folks usually post to indicate that there is a problem and wondering how to fix it.
I have a JVC KD-X50BT in my car and had no issues. Turned on bt on the phone and it paired automatically. Calls, audio, song and artist info, and Pandora info.

[Q] Will a separate Bluetooth adapter for voice vs. audio work together?

I'm working on a DIY project that requires the audio bluetooth have higher power (wattage) to drive the speakers. Regular bluetooth "headset" (voice & audio) adapters just don't have much power in them.
A work-around could be to have two different Bluetooth adapters working at the same time. One would be for microphone only (voice). The second would be an amplifier for the audio.
Now unfortunately, I can't just hook up an amplifier in-line with a normal Bluetooth headset adapter because that would nullify the full-duplex capability.
So my question to you guys is, is Android capable of connecting to two different Bluetooth adapters at the same time? One for microphone and one for speakers, and have them work together without hiccups?
I know it can do two separate for phone and media. But the device will kick the media Bluetooth aside for the higher priority of the phone. Can you some how use an otg cable to Bluetooth adapter as another option?

From what you're saying, it sounds like when a phone call comes in, the mic will work. But the phone will no longer send the audio (phone audio in this case) to the speakers using the media bluetooth connection.
Bummer. And I am afraid you might be right.
No, cords are not allowed at all.
This is for a helmet setup.
Thanks for the heads up.
It does

Yes, this does work. I use my Anker BT to talk and my Mercedes BT for Audio at the same time. This works really well (ROM is stock 4.3)

I have exactly the same issue, it started with Lollipop, connecting headphones works ok, but when I connect the phone to my car aux input I can't listen to music. I can see the "Headphones connected" notificacion but it doesn't work. Funny thing is, it works after several attempts plugging in and out the cable. I'm very frustrated with this issue.

looks like a hardware problem to me, one channel of the headphone jack might a have a cracked solder joint and might need resoldering. oh and one last thing, have you tried flashing stock ROM?
Had a similar issue, but moving or rotating the jack would help. I did this and haven't had an issue since:

Actually I put extra support to the left of the jack also for additional support.

There's no setting that I'm aware of. What kind of headphones? Bluetooth? Wired with USB adapter? Maybe the headphones were made wrong. Is there another pair you could try to rule out the phone as the root cause?

Using Mi8, Usb C heaset. Left/Right channels are switched. Cant play pubg mobile. Also the back/front effects are switched, so even switching the left and right ear wont work. Also tried installing stock firmwares.
