Hi all,
I read in one of the s7 forums that once a carrier sim is inserted to an unlocked s7/s7e, that carriers bloatware gets installed. Has anyone out there manage to stop this from happening?
I managed to avoid this one of my other devices. Purchased an unlocked sony z3 compact tablet (LTE) a while back. To avoid any bloatware, I didn't insert y SIM, but did all the necessary updates via wifi. Once all the Sony and Android updates were complete, I inserted my carrier SIM and ZERO bloatware got installed.
I haven't had this happen on Three UK. I actually wanted it to as it would have enabled voLTE. But as nothing happened I resorted to odin

Hi guys
I recently purchased an S4 from an on-line professional seller, the guy apparently owns a physical store but sells some phones on-line
when the phone arrived, I turned it on without the SIM, insert my home's wi-fi connection password, and the phone started to update both apps, and the OS to lollipop
I installed the backup I previously got from my old s3 mini, installed all my apps from playstore, and once I installed whatsapp, I turned the phone off, and than on again, this with my SIM since whatsapp has to confirm my number
The phone accepted my PIN code, whatsapp accepted my number and restored it's backup, but the phone also asked for this SIM network unlock pin
I told the guy what's happening, he told me he would send me a new phone, but I suspect this can go wrong
If that's the case, can anyone here tell me how can I overcome this SIM network unlock pin issue ?
thanks in advance
Regards
Antonio
If the phone were unlocked for use on any carrier, you would never see the SIM unlock pin request screen. Since you are seeing that screen, the phone is not unlocked.
To resolve this, root your phone and downgrade the phone's modem to an Android 4.2.2 version. Find a copy of RegionLock Away on XDA or through Google, copy it to your S4 and install it. Run it. Afterward, upgrade the modem to a more current version, and enjoy.
That's roughly what I had to do when the SIM unlock screen popped up on me.
Which s4 do you have? If it is the i337, region lock away may not work as you may not be able to downgrade the modem.
Dear experts,
I have a T-mobile S6edge plus, SM-G928T, build MMB29K...... purchased from US and got it rooted and sim unlocked for using other SIM. I am not getting any OTA, instead a message appears which says, unauthorised modification to operating system, download updates via Smart switch or customer centre.
My question here is, if, in the first place, i even get an update in smart switch on PC, should i update my phone? And if i update my phone, will it remain network unlocked? coz i still have all those T-mobile apps on my phone including "device unlock" app which (as i have heard from someone) gets removed once T-mobile unlocks the phone themselves.
Is there any chance that my phone gets network locked again after the update?
Help will be greatly appreciated.

S7 Edge permanently locked to AT&T network (Too many network unlock code attempts)
Hello all!
I've moved to Korea with my fully purchased AT&T S7 Edge (SM-G935A) from the U.S. I went to a local authorized phone service shop in Korea and purchased and linked an SK Telecom Nano USIM 3GB data sim card to my phone and then entered in too many unsuccessful network unlock code attemps. I wasn't aware that if too many failed attempts are entered, that the phone would lock permanently to AT&T network :/.
I then contacted AT&T and got the official authorized network unlock code, but that isn't working. Neither did the unfreeze code I purchased from an unlocking site. I then found the XDA forum and successfully flashed my phone to G-935U (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/updated-935u-935a-live-links-pi3-t3501686). After inserting the prepaid Sim card, I'm still receiving the network unlock code screen where the AT&T network unlock code, unfreeze code, and codes on Sim card packaging are not working.
Can anyone advise any solutions? Is there a way to reset or get around the hardlock / permanently AT&T network lock?
Thank you,

I have had hard locked phones before, here's how you can get it fixed. If its still under warranty, and if you can get it to samsung usa, tell them your phone is stuck due to a bad update. They will reflash your phone, and when they do this, with their methods, it restores the modem firmware and the original sim's lock(no more hard lock). & they will reprogram your imei and serial. So your unlock codes will work now.

Hi all. I have a bit of a problem with my phone after updating to Oreo.
My brother bought me an unlocked SM-G950U1, which I am using now in the UK. I had no problem with it so far, I could do everything but using Samsung Pay, but it didn't bother me. Last weekend, I finally updated to oreo. Did the whole process, and when my phone restarted, it asked me to restart again because of the sim card. Once it got back, and when I went to update the samsung apps on the galaxy apps store, I got a message saying that it wasn't available in my country. Investigating on line, I found out that my CSC had changed to GCF, when it should be XAA, and this was likely the reason behind my problems. I followed a guide I found here to change it back, and I got it back to what it should be. I did all this process without a sim card, and I checked the galaxy apps app and it worked! But the moment I put in my sim card, same message asking me to restart my phone, it did some sim updating, and when I checked again galaxy apps, the same issue came back.
I think my issue is that it gets region locked by the sim card. Is there a way I can bypass all that process, and prevent the sim card from "updating" my phone?
Cheers
I think Im running into the same situation as you are. Did you ever find a solution?
Hi Everyone,
I just bought a brand new s10+ from marketplace. I ran a full imei report and everything is clean & not blacklisted. It was a sprint phone however the provider I use is consumer cellular (uses ATT towers). When I put my sim card in it obviously said invalid sim and request it get unlocked. I wasnt concerned because I was going to convert it to unlocked anyways via odin like I did my note 9. I reflashed it via odin with the u1 firmware. However the same thing is happening it keeps saying invalid sim and the button for mobile operators is not showing. I have a tmobile sim card and if I put that in it works fine. Being though tmobile and sprint are the same thats why it works fine. I also have a ATT sim card, If i put that in I get the same invalid sim message. So it still appears to be locked somehow. Only sprint / t mobile sim works. I thought by reflashing to unlocked it would unlock the phone sim.
Just to be clear the phone is brand new and never was attached to any account.
Any ideas? I dont know what to do here.
Thanks!!
As I understand, phones that are locked to a network are not just software branded... also the phones hardware ID. So flashing a generic firmware is not enough. You need to get the phone unlocked from the phone's original operator
I found out what I had to do. I had to use a remote unlock service to remove the software lock on the phone. Its fine now. Thanks
