I like the Yota Reader, but I prefer Moon+ Reader.
In the mirroring.cfg, I can give moon reader 'slowmode = true' - this refreshes after every page and looks great, but it is annoying.
I can give 'slowmode = false' and the screen never full refreshes, it is fast but still annoying because the background gets a bit 'dirty'.
I read with white text on black background.
At worst, I will try to make an xposed module to refresh the screen every 5 page turns on Moon Reader.
Is this probably the only way?
Any input?
Thanks
Interesting. I would find it beneficial

I'm sure you all know our Vibrant's SUPERAMOLED uses much less/no power when dysplaying black and a TON of power when having to dysplay white pixels.
You also all know that most websites are white with black text. My idea is to invert this in browsers such as DolphinHD, the default Android Browser, and whatever other browsers there are.
How would it work? Ideally as a browser plug in (DolphinHD already supports addons) that inverts background color on websites if it detects white and inverts text color to white. It would NOT touch any other color nor the images, video, animations on websites. Just the static background would be black if it's white by default and the text would be white.
That way, a lot of power will be conserved, even on full screen brightness.
Since I do not have the time or expertise to do this, I am just offering the idea for a dev to look into if interested.
Good idea but what about black within photos and such? that'd be insane.
Umm...Inverting colors in photos would just ruin the pictures I think.
I was talking about making the addon look for the html/php/etc tags that specify color for the background and text of a page upon load and alter them before passing it to the browser to load.
Just change the white background to black, and white text to black. No need to invert colors.
Some one must be able to do this... come on!
Looking desperately for the same funcionality!
I think that is a great Idea, I was thinking about that. In the app youverison
It's a bible app. They have a low light setting, turns background black and font white.. I was thinking how great that would be for web browsing.. it seems like an impossible task.
Somebody posted a thread about this a while back. I would love to see oit done, easier on the eyes as well as battery. Steel had this option for one version a while back, or it might have been Dolphin, so it can be done. Adilko and most of the Ereaders have this functionality.

I am using Galaxy S I9000 and I would love such an app. One of my favt website popurls.com is one such site, uses black background and blue text. Also Blackle is a website which is Google Search with black background. Gr8 idea. Wish some developers are reading it.
There should b a quick button for inverting the colors. So that it can b turned off when not required.
I got in touch with the DolphinHD team, and feedback looks promising. Probably I will write the add-on myself so stay tuned!
Thread moved to General.
Have you tried using cyanogen's screen rendering app? You can choose to render the screen in different colors my G1 has it. I can render the screen in red. I haven't seen this porter to the vibrant though.

I created a bookmarklet to invert colors for people using the stock browser, and perhaps more... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17149892#post17149892

yeah, i acknowledge that in the linked post... unfortunately no complete CM7 yet for Epic4G. hopefully this helps out somebody else like me still running modded stock roms.
I have been a pretty avid user of the Google Reader App (even when it was not HD ) - but, lately out of the blue I am facing issues with "loading of pictures" on some RSS feeds (on others it works fine) - for e.g. Engadget works fine whereas on loading Gizmodo, text is displayed but the image remains a 3-line rectangle and the Orange status bar remains stuck on "All Items".
Help will be much appreciated - many thanks !

Does it work fine on the browser? Cause it's either:
A App problem
A google reader problem
Or a RSS Feed problem
I love this device. In every way. Except I can't read text half the time. Kind of a problem, don't you think?
I am have an Lg GPE to on hand to compare/consider. I like the text size, but don't like the size of the unit or the awful, dim, discolored display.
Help me save my Nexus from being returned:
There are some web pages that don't allow zoom. Bigger deal is that my magazine text in the Playstore app is very small and zoom isn't supported.
The 7 allows magnification if you tap it 3 times. This gives me good sized text. But page scrolling is "frozen". You can pull over to the next column, but it bounces back to where you started when you let go of the screen.
Is there any way to make the magnification function work so that when you scroll on page it will stay where you put it?
I am rooted.

Chrome has a option to force zooming on unsupported pages.
Firefox has a little book thing in the right side of the URL bar that enables Reader Mode. Basically it inverts the site (black background and white text), increases text size, and does a couple of other things to improve reading quality.
I know it's more of a work around than an actual fix for what you're asking, but I love Reader Mode.

The yotacovers and the like are nice, but with the lack of a status LED (that I can find anyway) I would like to have all notifications updating on the e-ink display when the phone is locked? Is there any way to do this - just display the default android 5 lock screen on back?
I am using a YD201 with official LRX21M.5.0.0-HK1.1.124d build.
Just go to the YotaHub and put the biggest Notification widget you can find, it's the only way.
Thanks, I had a look at them, but none will show me yahoo mail app, facebook/messenger, text and phone notifications simultaneuously. Perhaps I will feedback to YotaDevices it would be cool if the normal android lockscreen could be displayed on the e-ink screen this must be both desirable and fairly easy to do, given the quite clever way the e-ink screen is handled on this device.
IS a way to read in the dark on e-papper second display? It dosen't havea led background...
Yes there is a way, turn on a light, like you might do if reading a book. The reason these displays use less power is that they are not backlit and they do not require power to maintain the image.
Assuming that AOD is much more efficient than normal screen, and having seen Note 8's note taking with AOD, an Idea came into my mind. I do not know if it is applicable but, I think an ebook reader utilizing AOD could be a nice app. What do you think? Is it possible? I could not find in play store if it is already implemented.
I don't think the stock framework allows for such modifications to the lock screen; we know it can display notifications and so forth, but this is another thing altogether.
AOD is nothing but very minimal text on a completely dark background. So basically AOD is no different that having some text on a black background( battery wise) What you are looking for is any ebook reader that has a night mode.
The ereader prestigio supports night mode, very low brightness, multiple file types, and is full screen with a little status bar on the bottom.
