I have been doing some browsing on here and I am not finding any info on this unit. I am considering rooting it and installing a new rom. I was wondering if there is even a rom for it. One of things I don't like is the radio. The song title always scrolls on my preset radio station buttons. Most of the time when I change the station there is usually a word from a song on the preset button instead of the radio station number. The details for the HU are as follows. The only thing I have ever rooted was my S3. These HU seem to be similar. Thanks for any help pointing me in the right direction. Also I see there is a Malaysk ROMs Lollipop 5.1.1 that looks like it is for my HU.

Yeah it's really easy just download the rom unzip file Copy the image file to sd card and put it in the GPS slot and run check for updates and install and that's it
Do I not even have to root it first. This sounds much easier then my phone was.

No mate no need to root first as the new rom is already rooted just update and enjoy
Thank you for all the info

Did it all work for you
I have not done it yet. We leave on vacation in a few weeks and just in case something goes wrong I thought I would wait till I get back.

This looks to be the same HU as the Eonon GA5153F, but with a different fascia - in which case most instructions/apps etc. which apply to HuiFei HU's can be used with this one. I've been running the Malaysk ROM on my GA5153F for a while but I'm currently modifying the stock firmware to get exactly what I want.
To root without installing a new ROM just go to Settings -> Factory Settings and enter *#hct#root# as the password and click OK.
I just installed car dashboard as we are getting ready for our vacation and I thought this would work out good for traveling. It has its on phone app and if I try to use it it tells me there is no network. Am I stuck using the stock dialer or is there a way to get this dialer to work. Does the same thing with the built in contacts too.

What is the best way to back up my rom. I just want to make sure I have a way back if I mess it up.

I have this head unit that came installed in a truck I purchased;
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WG1PKJC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
It runs 4.2.2 and looks to be new. My question would be, Is there anything I can do with it? It runs pretty decent and supports most, if not all of the apps I use. I would like to update it to a custom ROM but it's unclear if I can or not.
Thanks ahead of time!

Yes, this is correct. Completely read the first post, paying attention to upgrading to a pre-rooted 4.4 ROM and which MCU to install.
4.3.14-7-10-650201-150527
This is what my system is reporting what version MCU it has. How do I identify what I need to upgrade?
Anybody? All I'm looking for is if I can install 4.4.4.
Thank you.
I'm still confused on which unit this is. Any other way to find out other than mcu?
I really would like to upgrade this thing. I HATE the hard coded buttons at the bottom of the screen. They take up nearly half of it.
The upgrade method should be the same as with the rest most likely (copy the ROM to the root of an SD card, put it in the GPS slot, get into recovery and it should prompt you to upgrade). You should be able to flash any ROM that's made for your CPU, regardless of which MCU you have/need. I haven't flashed the MCU on mine since I see no reason to do it (if it ain't broke...) but the ROM and MCU can be flashed independently so no need to worry about the other if only one is a problem.
About the launcher, that's just an APK so you should be able to install a new launcher even without flashing a new ROM.
I recently bought the AVIN Avant 2 Android head unit, but I can't seem to find reliable info on modding it. when I try to look up the MCU in settings, I come up with CA03-AL 0.1.50 NXP662x which looks nothing like the MCU versions I've seen posted here. Am I SOL on flashing a ROM/MCU for this head unit?
I am curious about this to.
Why on earth do you buy a old unit with a dual core cpu and jellybean os.
I got a quad core cpu and 2gb mem with kitkat (later it will be updated to Lollipop)
Waiting on Tommy to give me the download to the update -- he hasnt replied to emails.
I just picked one up and it have MCU Ver CA03-AL 0.1.13 NXP6624
But no idea what the latest build is -- Mine is running R4.0.0.0

Because it was made specifically for my car. No need to use an install kit. Plug it up, slide it in. Still, the hardware shouldn't have an impact on the ability to flash a new ROM.
But thanks for the informative post!
I got the updated ROM with root. But Everytime I try to mount system as r/W it reverts to read only.
I have a newer version of EasyConnected but due to signature mismatch I can't install it...

MCU Version 4.3.10.1-1-10-610101
System version 2.9.5_20150413

Decoding the MCU version gives me:
Version: 4.3.10.1
H/W revision: 1
Car model: VW

Can I flash this to Android 5.1 with the Malaysk package? Which one?
Any suggestions welcome.

Any luck IM LOOKING FOR THE SAME? Where did you get your 4.4.4 update from, CHEERS
Folks, I have seen a couple of requests for more info re my Xtrons unit recently.
Sorry for this late reply but I am travelling in my van and at the moment have done almost 10, 000km in the past 4 weeks. Presently on the very west coast of WA.
Sorry, but I simply can't recall where I got the upgrade - though I can say it worked fine though when Xtrons folk tried to help with an unrelated issue the solution involved reinstalling the original Android version. Sorry. I will TRY to find where I got it when I'm home again.
I must tell you though that I had months of trouble with the unit leading up to the reinstalling of the original O/S. THAT did not solve the problem. In the end, when I had to put a new battery in the car and do some underbonnet work the battery was out for 2 days. When I put it back in the head unit worked fine!
In the subsequent 6 weeks there has been one "no boot" instance.
Through the months if issues, no variation of resetting changed things. Installing the original code didn't work. It was only totally powering down the unit that worked.
FWIW and for ?reference.

Hi
I just bought this radio 1GB/16GB:
https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/Silv...167.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2742b90apiEUzI
I'm new on the Android Car radio. I already intalled the unit all is functioning well. But mine came with the version 6.0 of android. The seller already sent me a lot of firmwares to flash but or they didnt run or the one it worked kept the radio on 6.0 version. (8227L UI06-firmware_v14_20190219.zip) - I uncompressed the two files for the root f the external sd.
Anyone have a firmware for this model? I can send the name the firmware that seller sent me that worked but kept the model on 6.
FOr updating the seller told me to make a reset and put five fingers on the screen.
By the way I was waiting for the update to see if the function will appear but this firmware doesnt have a favorite contacts widget so it's easy to call contacts. I tried some alternatives from google play but when dialingit said i cant find the phone app. Anyone knows an alternative to solve this situation.
Thanks in adavance and I'm familiar with android but this is my first car radio.
Is there any post regarding this model? I didnt understand yet if they are OEM with different layouts or if its a need for the seller release an update...
I see that this forum is not very active like other xda ....It's my first time with a car radio and there isn't one person who can help...
search thread for 8227l firmware or youtube ighostsgunnaz. i believe i have android 9 file that is for touch only. i needed file for touch and key press (volume knob). am uploading zip fiiles to file share host now hope u see and it helps.
Hello..
Recently I bought a PX5 Android headunit for my VW Golf MK5 .. Figured most of the things out. However I am unable to determine device particular model, as it is showing just PX5 in the About Device menu. Generally I am trying to find a way to get into Engineering Mode to play a bit with the microphone sensitivity settings. However I don't know how it is done for this device.
How can I identify the device model if at some point I need to perform firmware upgrade, and if somebody can tell me how I can get into the engineering settings. Already figured out the 0000 for factory settings.
Thanks

You have a obscure MCU but "It seems a S32F0 MCU based HU,
(...) The remaining is the same of any MCU with S32F0. You can try, at your own risk, to flash one of the S32F0 MCUs based on 7708 Radio Chip.
I get the same fake Android 11 **** ROM on mine and I succesfully updated to real Android 10 !
You can get real Android 10 with Online update watch here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/firmware-for-mcu-mf1.4273219/page-2#post-86791627
That is some useful information..
So it the Fake Device Test app reports that the real Android version is 10. So far any apps I am using on the device (music player and any nav apps) does not require any android version above 6. Are there any real benefits from flashing to a real Android 10 besides reporting the real version?
