Is this normal? How can I disable this since I never plan on using VR?

If you press the menu (upper right) and uninstall updates, you might be able to disable it.

Don't see a way to uninstall updates for it. I just forced closed it and my battery seems to be hanging onto each % longer. Will be interesting to see with a full charge tomorrow.
Setup wizard is doing the same thing, what the hell.

Well that may be, but since I forced them shut I'm still at 97% battery today after almost 2 hours. Seems like it helped battery life so far. Still wish I could disable both of them.
Two words... 'Package Disabler'.
Ok, just installed that and disabled VR entirely. We'll see how that goes.
Any update?

Wtf, got my S7 Edge some days ago, i have high battery drain even when screen is off, just checked this out and i got 12% without having any vr at all. I went greenifying it
The best mobile hijacker to get robbed by today!
If you do not want to use the Gear VR and you own a Samsung SMART phone, Samsung will force you to install it. If you try to refuse, the install app will interrupt any other app running every couple of minutes. This results in constant interruptions and a fast drain of the battery. Search for Gear VR on the web and you will see this has been an ongoing issue for more than a year and Samsung is doing nothing.
I finally gave in and installed the software in order to get my phone back. All I got was access to their online store where I can buy their VR apps.
I paid $600 for the phone only to have it hijacked by Samsung and turned into their personal kiosk.
This feels so dishonest.

What's at the bottom of the phone the cpu or radio? Whatever it is it is being taxed like crazy by something when the phone is idling with nothig running, including widgets.

Same here. After the recent update Im still getting the stuck at 90% indicator, and after I disconnect the phone's bottom will stay hot for the rest of the day... I'm worried it might blow in my pocket.
It's actually below the battery that gets the hottest, so I doubt the battery is in danger of blowing; can't be good for it's longevity though. At least for me it seems to be associated with charging, so actually doesn't seem bad while in pocket.
Seemed to be push exchange email doing it.

Can anyone get that to happen? Cuz I can't....
This happened to me last night after rooting my phone. The phone was hot and the battery died on me. I read on another forum someone posted that the exploid executable was still running in the background and you need to kill it manually from the shell or reboot. So that might be the cause of it.

I can't get it to do that either tried 10.

I took mine back on the first day after I bought it when it did that. It was also locking up requiring battery removal 5 times in the first day. The kiosk where I bought it tried to tell me it was the network being overloaded was causing that. I said 'BS', either give me a new phone or a loaner till you get me a replacement, so they gave me a new phone on the 16th.
Have not had any trouble with the new one. Battery lasts three times as long as my evo did.
Well after fully charging and draining my phone about 5 times, I'm seeing that it still didnt last more then 4-5 hours with minimal use. I just went to my closest Verizon store and got a new battery for free. It's only been 4 hours, but my phone isnt as hot on the bottom( by speaker) and its still at 78%, which is much better.
I thought the phone reported in 10% increments :/

Same here. Hopefully whatever officer of Samsung made this decision dies painfully and they revert to their old less douchy tactics. Otherwise my money is going elsewhere.
looks like there is no root, without root Light flow doesn't work.

No worries, that can be turned off. Go to settings, security, and chnage some setting from "high" or "tough" or "advanced" (I forget what they called it) to "normal." Once I turned it on "normal" I didn't see that message pop up anymore.
I still need root access, though...
I got the message with security set to normal. The developer has since updated the app and the message no longer appears.

I'm having a funky wakelock issue. Over the last couple of days I've had a PhoneApp partial wakelock that's been running almost continuously while the phones been off the charger. Today a new one related to the phone popped up. I've attached screen shots and dump files from better battery stats so hopefully someone can help me figure out what's going on.

I also have the log cat file if needed.
Do you have any MOD that enables the Torch/Flashlight to work from the lockscreen by long pressing volume up or down? I used to have that on and it killed battery from my experience
I do have that mod enabled although I have had it enabled for months and have not had any issues with it draining battery.

Yeah I would disable it for process of elimination to see if that's the cause.
Or another route is do you remember if you restarted your phone since you unplugged it off of the charger? Try to restart your phone everytime you take it off of a charger with the MOD enabled to see if that corrects it
I don't know why this fixed it but it did. I wonder what the developer changed in the coding to cause this to be an issue now

I read that not only the long press for torch but also the long press for music controls did the same thing. Thought it would be a great idea until I read about the power drain

With the note 3's massive battery I was still finishing an 18 hour day with 40-50 percent remaining but anything that hits battery life, in particular anything that keeps the phone from deep sleeping, has got to go.
For me it's not so much about day to day battery life as it is about long term battery health

Just woke up to my AOD being different. I used the large hour with the blue minute and that option is now gone. Is this the version from the note 7?

It is similar to that of the Note 7 but you won't get all the notifications yet. I'm really waiting for the Note 7 features to be on the S7 Edge since this is their only flagship now along with the S7.
It now shows music track info! Works with Google Music, others have said Spotify as well. This is a great unexpected update.

Yeah this update is from the note 7.... But samsung won't just give us all.. There must be something less..!! No notification for third party apps... Why is that Sammy :3

I woke up Friday morning to it automatically updated. I believe you can go to the Samsung app store and manually update it there

Ya hopefully the quick notifications access like note 7 comes through i miss that. This is a great update though
Can anyone post the apk for this. I have been trying to download the update and cant wont have wifi for the next few weeks either.
It doesn't show any of the notifications, I've even cleared cache and Badge Provider cache, still can't get my notifications to show, uninstalled the update, everything works fine.

Don't worry it's still moving but pixel by pixel it is not noticeable for us.

Not pixel by pixel, but sometimes it is on top of the display, sometimes on the bottom, sometimes in the middle. Position changes every day I think.

Yes, that's new too, it shows what song is playing on whichever player U have. But notifications from apps like facebook, whatsapp etc. are still not available. I hope they will bring that feature with 7.0
Sadly, the update doesn’t enable third-party app notifications
