How to know where is the phone from? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I have a N9005 but I want to know where did it come from. Since it is the international version, it could come from many countries. Can I have access to that information via IMEI or S/N?
Also... Is any component from non european Note 3 compatible with european Note 3?

Use Phone info.apk from play store
It will show you all the informations about your phone , your csc letters refer to the original country if you still have your original stock rom in phone
Check it
I'm not sure if I understood what you meant

[Q] Flash other region official rom on Chinese GN3

Hello guys,
I live in China and I'd like to buy a Note 3, therefore, there's only following versions available here: N9002/6/8/9
I used to have a Note 2, Chinese version too, which was impossible to flash through Samsung's standard tool and once I bruteforced the flash with other tools, I detroyed the phone (couldnt receive signal anymore and be recovered) because Samsung's phones in China have a different modems and bootloaders specific to China).
Currently, not so many custom firwmwares are available for the Note 3 but in the future, I'd like to use them. Knowing Chinese models might be different, do you know if I'll have the same issues as with my Note 2, meaning:
- not being able to flash other region firmwares (Chinese version doesnt have Play store and you cannot install anything like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or other famous foreign apps and that's ****ing annoying)
- not being able to flash custom roms for popular versions like N900 or N9005
Thanks
N9006 - Note3 - Chinese One
I've got my Note 3 - SM-N9006, couple weeks ago and try to root with Root de la Vega to get rid of the problems that you thought.
But failed now.
Trying to figure it out to bring the phone back.
So, think 2 more time to buy a Chinese Note 3.
Regards,
@op dont tinker too much.. Its possible to root without much hassle。。n9002 is the china unicom branded one/ n9006 is unbranded SD800 but 16gb/ n9008 is china mobile (keep in mind they have their own 3g band) / n9009 is china telecom(cdma)
@navalarcitect .. You forgot to to switch that "reactivation lock" to off in settings... Do that and try again...It would be succesful..
I've have had s2 s3 and s4 all made in china for the chinese markets rooted and using international firmwares enjoying all the google goodies china strips off.
For note 3 i went for exynos because it offers 32gb against the SD800 which is 16gb in China and HK.. Cheers
Buy the HK version at any of the phone markets of your choice
I think the short answer is DON'T BUY THE CHINA version, unless you have unlimited time to play/tinker with it in the hope that you might be able to internationalize it... Note tha 99% of the people making roms and modding the Chinese version are Chinese, who won't care about English/play store etc... so even if you do see ROMs most of them will be made for Chinese. Also, even if you do get it working, no more android updates for you...
The even shorter answer is, buy a HK version from any of the phone markets... In Shanghai there are many and they all have HK versions (often same price or cheaper than the China version as smuggled in without 5% import tax and 17% sales tax). You can tell pretty easy what model the phone is, and they're used to laowei (and many ABCs, etc.) wanting the international version.
What would be GREAT would be if the dual sim version was available in International. In the past it was only available as the China version. I really need a dual sim as I travel so much, but am just too scared/nervous and lacking in time and knowledge to buy the China version and try to root/internationalize....Am keeping an eye out for this, but not holding my breath as Samsung never did a dual sim N2 and you have to assume carriers hate them...

@hatnim, II'd like to buy my Note 3 with a subcription to reduce its price but 'd like to stay away from China Unicom as they have crap netwrok coverage, I moved to them 1 year ago to finally have 3G on my iphone but I really regret it. From what I understood the 3G Chinese network can also be used in other regions of the world can't it?
How did you manage to internationalize it since there is not yet a Chinese version of the SM-N9005? If you have a SM-N9002 or SM-N9008, they should not be compatible with international roms (at least that was not the case with Note 2, in my case, I had to purchase the N7100 Chinese version to be able to use it with internatiol roms).
Additional question: tt seems you have the Exynos version but it's still not out in China if I'm not wrong. Where did you get it?

Well subscription with china mobile is good but you cant use 3g or higher when outside china ..you would be stuck on 2g.. they have their own homemade 3g spectrum or something.. if that isnt a bother you can go for that.
The chinese version n9006(sd800) is different from the normal n9005.. to get playstore and other google stuffs stripped off , you would have to install the hk version or taiwan version(roms that start with zs)..hk/tw is not restricted like mainland..
Yeah i did buy exynos because the sd800(n9006) they were offering here was 16gb and had no lte compared to the n9005.. so i got the exynos 32gb for 600rmb cheaper and its from hk or other place..

+1 for your support Hatnim! I think I'll go for the international version. But one last question since you seem to know a lot about chinese band. Do you think if the International version will receive China Mobile's 3G and HSPA+ signal?
Btw, for how much did you pruchase your Exynos version?
I got it for aprox. 3550RMB online (i guess you know of taobao, .and here is the catch, if you have a chinese friend with CC you can have it on installment plan, like mine is roughly 310 x 12months)..
And sadly no to your other question.. China Mobiles 3G (TD-SCDMA) is home made and i havent heard of any other carrier using it... Your only bet would be Unicom which uses W-CDMA ...I know Unicom really sucks..
Note 3 is no problem!
Hi,
I have a N9002 for about 1 Week now and it´s working good!
It took me only about 3h to root, install Google apps including PlayStore, and the Nexus Keyboard to get more languages.
All you need you can find at XDA!
I took the N9002 because I need dual Sim AND need to run it all around Asia and Europe.
For the dual sim version you will find nearly no custom roms, but that´s not neccessary for root, Google Apps and Keyboard!
Only the China Unicom Version works in Europe and most Asian countries!!!!!
I don´t know why you had so much problems with the Note 2?
I had the Note 2 (also dual Sim version from China Unicom) for around one year and it worked perfect. Also rooted and injected Google Apps and Nexus keyboard.

Close to impossible with a Chinese phone, the Government mandates a locked bootloader where a major part of their surveillance mechanism is located, go to Hong Kong where the phones are open.

You can still root the device, will trigger knox, but if you're overseas it won't matter much. Once rooted, you can install Google apps, facebook and even youtube. I have done it on my 9002. Works fine. Gmail, Contacts, Calender and G+ to name a few.....oh yeah and Play Store, which works great, can select stuff on my pc and have it sent and installed on my Note 3 with NO PROBS!!
You can flash anything, you just have to be careful because there are 2 types of N3 out. One has 16gb and the other 32gb memory. This results in different size partitions for the different system directories. That's why so many people wind up with bricked phones.....technically it's because the PIT is different. (Partition Information Table).
As for the surveillance mech, I am skeptical that the Chinese Gov would mandate a locked bootloader, do you have any evidence?

Your phone KNOX is still 0x0... warranty not lost... take it to samsung , they will Jtag it and it will work.
Also if you have the original rom, .PIT, pda, phone,csc... you can flash through odin with repartition ticked... however your prevent reactivation means only Samsung...
BTW, you can buy 9005 and 900 in china through HK parallel export and vendors after some bargianing, would offer a 1 year store warranty... I have 1..

You can't update firmware to American version. What you can do is to "westernize" the Chinese firmware.
Follow this thread:

Hello guys,
I have a soft-bricked N9002 and I am trying to unbrick it.
I tried to upgrade to the latest official firmware, CHU-N9002ZNUENG4-20140805155712, Android 4.4.2, through Odin but I ticked "Nand Erase All", which I think was the mistake. The phone is now bootlooping to the China Unicom splashscreen, with the mentions "RECOVERY BOOTING...Set Warranty Bit: recovery" and then vibrating twice before bootlooping again.
I am not accustomed to Samsung phones, but from what I have read on the forum, I would need to flash a PIT file to re-partition the phone.
So my question is, does anyone have such PIT file, or where can I get it?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] SM-N9008 to a SM-N9005

Hi, I live in China but am not Chinese and have inherited a 14mth old Note3 SM-N9008 from my wife, who is Chinese. Just wanted to clarify this point as a lot of other posters with an SM-N9008 have been shot down for having one instead of getting a model relative to where they live
OK, with that out of the way, I have no issues with voiding the warranty as it's gone anyway (14 mth old).
My key question is after reading the "how-to-change-csc-in-samsung-galaxy-phones" (sorry cannot include the offsite link being new here) topic, and perhaps my understanding is wrong and so please correct me if I am, if I change the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes to match correctly to another locale NOT China (eg UK), then I am a) basically changing my 9008 to a 9005 in principle & b) my 9008 will accept ROM's for a 9005 and work fine.
Or is this 'trick' of manipulating these codes to give a new locale only for the purpose of if you have a 9005 in Chile which has not uploaded a new Stock ROM but say Spain has, I make my 9005 look like it is now from Spain and will therefore be able to get the new 9005 Stock ROM?
I have only ever rooted and applied another Stock ROM to one other mobile device before, about 2 years or more ago, which was a Chinese model of the Note 10.1 and it's worked perfectly fine in all that time on the Intl Stock ROM - except for updates online which I don't do (I do manual app updates where required) because the updates give me the Chinese version due to the CSC etc not being changed and so thinking I am Chinese.
Has anyone tried this before at all? Changing the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes from one model to anothers so as to have access to other Stock ROM's in your preferred language and without the locale's bloatware, as well as being able to have appz like Intl google play etc (which cannot be included in any 9008 Stock ROM)?
I've looked at detailed specs for both the 9008 and the 9005 models and they seem exactly the same, just the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes make each different.
If anyone has, please can they help tell me the process steps I need to follow (such as do I root 1st and then change the codes, or change the codes 1st and then root?
I do hope someone can give me some positive feedback please. Thanks in anticipation for any help you can offer me.

Need help.

Currently running Android's Lolipop 5.0 on my Galaxy Note 3. My phone model is SM-N900s and I was thinking of switching the firmware so that I'd able to use an international firmware. A little back story was that I was living in Korea and moved back to Malaysia. Is there any chance that there is a firmware for me to install or flash into my Note 3 so that I am able to use it without it showing the carrier my phone originally was with. Reason being is because, I'm constantly having an error stating my phone is in roaming when it should not be because I am actually in my home country with my home country's carrier sim card.
Any help or advice..? If you guys could kindly either post a link to where I can refer to or a guide of which I can follow.

Purchased a S5, can you please identify the Model number?

I am very confused, Item is a refurb, has been rooted and therefore i want to put a clean stock rom on it, however i am getting mixed signals. phone is labelled g900f on the sticker and about phone, however i think this is fake, so the seller could sell it as a British model, I went in to recovery, the boot-loader stated it was a g900t. Also in the settings / about / there is a section referring to The united Emirates, which i have not ever seen before. I do believe it is a real s5 though as it has a snapdragon processor. Also the Imei number and serial number match the sticker, however i have a feeling this was somehow done by the seller, or who ever is supplying the seller who sold it to me. Other than that phone is working fine, but does not receive OTA updates. Also for some reason in the Ringtone section there are some built in AT&T ones.
can someone try to make sense of this, and tell me which exact Official ROM i would need to use.
Thanks.

Whichever model is says in download mode is the correct model
A lot of models are modded to look like G900Fs as they are one of the most popular models, firmware, stickers etc etc can all be changed, Download mode can't be changed
thanks for the reply. if i reflash to a clean g900t marshmallow, what is the likelyhood it will corrupt the imei , network unlock status or anything like that, also will a g900t rom work fine in the Uk, i read on xda the g900t rom contains alot of branding and junk, can anyone confirm this?

replace Korean Samsung S8 (SM-G950N) stock ROM with another one from Spain.

Hi All,
Please excuse me in case this was already adressed in other post.
Case: I bought in South Korea a brand new Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950N) Exynos version. Im very happy with the phone but there are a few diferences between this one and the spanish version of the phone. For example, since in Korea apparently is not legal to silence the shutter of the camera there is no option in the phone to remove this sound. Other things are for example the apps that by default are installed in the phone. In my case the carrier is KT and I have a ton of apps that I cannot use or Im not interested.
Questions:
Q1.- Is there a possibility to install the samsung stock rom for the S8 clean (from Spain for example) and get rid of all this crap and at the same time maintain all warranty and Updates as any other "not modified" phone?
Q2.- Will the software change once i insert the SIM car from my spanish carrier showing me option available in the S8 spanish software version that i cannot see now from the Korean version?
Q3.- can I use a baseband from any other carrier and if not is there compatible basebands with my phone?
any help will be much appreciated.
thanks in advance.

I have a Korean phone (g950N) and have done everything that you want to it EXCEPT my warranty is void. Initially, I rooted the phone and flashed a different stock ROM. Since then, I've flashed a custom ROM (Renovate-ice) as it gives me far more options and flexibility. During the installation, you can choose the country you want and it will add all the relevant software and frequencies etc.

AFAIK you will not get to the result you want, as long as you don't want to void your warranty (knox 0x1).
Flashing a g950F Firmware on a g950N device will lead to a not booting phone.

Also, no. Your CSC won't change when inserting a different SIM.
As to the third question, I can't answer.
But if you would be willing to void your warranty, you of course can change the csc to a spain one, get all the spain carrier bloatware and can deactivate the shutter sound.
voLTE ISSUE
I am facing a similar problem.
i bought a galaxy s8 (SM-G950n) from south korea. But here, in india, i can't use voLTE. i can use LTE and other band at ease except voLTE. Then googled and found that indian csc code installation may help. But the problem is that the phone i have is single sim and the indian model has dual sim. If i flash the indian stock rom will it brick? If it bricks i can't gp back to south korea to resolve that. i contacted the korean samsung service but their help didn't work.
Give me a strong solution.
